Yoruba has political vision and we pioneer the dictates of national politics. This is not a talk about crime and kidnapping and fraud and scams. This is politics......national politics!

We lead, yanmiri follow! You have attempted several times over decades and failed each time to carve out an identity for yourself. Musiwa, did you put that rubbish video up? What has Michelle obama got to do with western Naija?

musiwa6: we did not go to the united nation to seek for state creation. we apply for united nation status in accordance with united nation article. You see insteaad of the north killing everybody ... someone has to be bold to save millions of lifes. And we are seeking a united nation status to avoid a civil war in Nigeria.

it is not about state creation. we are just using this to show you on which side the itsekiri are.. not what will find out to be ijaw people sitting onthe internet claiming niger delta.

Nigeria will end up in a civil war. So we are seeking to opt out of Nigeria through a united nation referendum. This is the mistake most africa countries which have end up in a civil war made.. They go and fight and killing millions. while there is a legal alternative to resolve the issue. And we have send out letter to the Ban kim mooo in accordance with united nation article. The united nation will now seek to conduct a referendum in the 10 states , and any other state which seek to join us leave. if majority say yes.. we are out of nigeria. and this save nigeria from crisis and save the lifes of millions of people.

you will now ask can we be a nation. This is a tip of the presentation we would be showing the united nation of massive over many years of invest that will be bomb if our application for a united nation status is not approved..

what this video.

but they are not going all out declaring Oodua country and going ahead to print their own currency are they? They are forging a semi-autonomous state in a republic. Why must they go to war to achieve that? War might only occur if this regional regeneration idea is really a secession bid like Biafra was.

What is such a person called? - An offender.

Is the offence committed found in the criminal code? - Yes

What is manner of offence does that make it? - Criminal

The offender is therefore called: A criminal.

HNosegbe: Madam Desola,

You keep harping on the risk of a one-way driver killing a passenger, and I reiterate that its already covered in our laws, and its called MANSLAUGHTER.

And for those of you comparing Nigeria to advanced countries, you will do well to note that those countries have "correctional facilities" in the true sense of the word. You will also do well to ask yourselves whether the purpose of imprisoning an individual is simply to punish or to rehabilitate.

I repeat: The law is draconian.
I think you're confused.

The risk cannot be manslaughter, the charge would be, in the eventual death of the victim. The risk would be endangering the lives of pedestrians.
Car TalkRe: New Lagos Traffic-Law Catches First-Victim - Bullion Van Driver by Desola(f): 8:52pm On Aug 29, 2012
Reference: That's it. Once you start making exceptions, the next thing you'll hear is government issuing permits for this and that and then money bags latch on and the whole thing caves in. 1983 import waiver scandal all over again. Just make laws you can live with no matter the cost.
I wasn't saying that emergency services are allowed to drive facing oncoming traffic, though. What I meant was that lanes such as the BRT and speed limits and sirens would be available to emergency services and rightly so.

It would not apply to the state emergency services and some private hospital ambulances, I suppose. It shouldn't.
Car TalkRe: New Lagos Traffic-Law Catches First-Victim - Bullion Van Driver by Desola(f): 8:27pm On Aug 29, 2012
HNosegbe: You know, I am so pissed by the way our leaders think sometimes. For the love of God, why send a traffic offender to prison? The same prison that contain hardened criminals? Is there even space available in those prisons? Have they considered the impact of the stigma that he'll suffer for the rest of his life by reason of being an ex-convict? So you wanna ruin a person's life simply because he drove against traffic? Do they think an ex-convict has any shot at a real life in this country?

Whatever happened to good old community service? What about 24 hours cleaning the streets with the street sweepers? What about joining LAWMA to dispose refuse? What about simply paying a fine that would be commensurate with the person's perceived net worth? Why must it be imprisonment? Are these people thinking at all?

THIS LAW IS DRACONIAN!!!
Don't be silly! That is such a lame excuse for not punishing an offender - "is there even space availale in those prisons" what an argument!

I wonder if you would be so concerned about the stupid stigma if he had hit you - an innocent pedestrian. What irrational mentality! The same law that is seeking to protect you and your rights as a pedestran or road user is the same one you're kicking against. I just don't understand Naija people.
Car TalkRe: New Lagos Traffic-Law Catches First-Victim - Bullion Van Driver by Desola(f): 8:20pm On Aug 29, 2012
kj_hova: Hey @Desola,
States should purnish offenders for the offences actually committed and not the ones they could have committed. That is not justice, that will be brigandage! Moreso, the accused is a first offender and possibly has no criminal record. In sane societies, such people, especially in a civil case like this, are charged with misdemeanor and not criminal breakage. Aren't our prisons overcrowded already? This is our sincere argument.
I reiterate - this is NOT a civil case. How exactly is a civil case defined i n Nigeria for goodness sake. Civil cases do not seek to punish but to provide restitution and award damages. This is a clear criminal case for crying out loud. There is a law which has been set out that whosoever breaks it would be tried and punished accordingly.

Yes, I do agree that the punishment is heavy handed for a first time offender and I believe that his counsel should be able to plead for leniency which I doubt less that the magistrate would turn a a deaf ear to. This case is setting precedent and the offender is being made as an example here and to serve as a deterrent to other future offenders. I sincerely think he would come out with a lighter sentence if he gets a good counsel to plead his case before the magistrate.

topatee: Fashola is running the 2nd Leg of his tenure and as such he is not seeking re-election, so he can afford to pass any kind of law, but what legacy is Fashola trying to lay?
Typically Nigerian, everyone has praised Him for a job fairly done in Lagos, now he want to rubbish it all, just like his elder brother OBJ with his 3rd Term tenure saga
A SAN for that matter. Lets wait and see
With reference to the above, I would say that this is the more reason why this law is apt. He thought it through and he knows what it means to uphold the law and its application.

I pray that the next Lagos state governor would be a lawyer or at least someone who is conversant with the law and know how it should be applied.

Sanity must be brought back to Lagos. Step by step, we shall get there.
Car TalkRe: New Lagos Traffic-Law Catches First-Victim - Bullion Van Driver by Desola(f): 6:29pm On Aug 29, 2012
luvinhubby: I definetly agree with Seun, there is no need being sentimental about JUSTice. You are sending someone to 1yr imprison for traffic violation, which is purely a civil disobedience in not only an inJUSTICE, but purely DRACONIAN.
If Lagos state wants to cure disobedient maladies by drastic laws, then they should start with the most chronic & destructive one which is corruption. But because it is the major preoccupation of our political leaders, they are passive on it. If such laws are meant to be detterents as they say, then kick-backs, financial gratifications, contract inflations and the likes should be punishable by death considering the amount of damage it does, at least to serve also as detterents & the likes of Ikuforji will be facing a charge punishable by death to discourage other looters.
This is just CRIMINALISING CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE.
How can it be civil when it is clearly criminal? This isn't between two individuals or corporate body but between and individual and the state so it is most definitely criminal. Yes, the penalty might be extremely harsh but he could have killed someone in the process. Must we wait until someone dies before getting strict on such offences?

You would be surprised at how something you class as being civil could quickly turn criminal when someone loses his/her life and the offender would then be facing a death or life improsonment sentence.

There is no doubt that the punishment is harsh but it is possible that one year is the maximum sentence which could be doled out by the magistrate but not necessarily in this case. I think judges/magistrates have discretion in handing down sentences.

slimdiggi: undecidedif he gets a good lawyer he might be acquited
reduced sentence but most definitely not an acquital when he has confessed to the offence. If the law is a strict liability one then there is no escaping it except the LAWMA decide not to prosecute. Once it gets to court, he would undoubtedly be found guilty.

TravelRe: Denial Of Licence To Airlines: Oduah Has Sectional Agenda - Rep by Desola(f): 4:26pm On Aug 29, 2012
OAM4J: I think he is referring to directive of the minister for the airlines to consider Enugu instead of Abuja. So the Mallam think she has an ethnic agenda since the minister is from South East.
which she does but she is able to rebut that claim by saying that Enugu is equally a federal government international airport and in order to boost all aspects of the country's air traffic sector, it is only right to ask these carriers to consider flying to Enugu(although this is a veiled economic duress being exerted by her and geared toward diverting revenue to her side of the country). However, descerning minds can read through this for what it really is.

Jonasatan's government is generally a tribalistic one geared at spiting the Yorubas and Hausas in my candid opinion. The ibos are happy and careless about this because as they see it, the Yorubas and Hausas have been milking the country dry since their failed attempt at secession so they see this as their time to chop and Jonasatan is delivering that.
PoliticsRe: Okorocha Bans Imo-Monarchs From Speaking English At Forums by Desola(f): 12:57pm On Aug 29, 2012
Esss: IMO Sate deserve the leader they get...

Rochas.. This mans gimmick will only dawn on the people of IMO State after he leaves office and they realize that he really did nothing for them..

So any Traditional Ruler that speaks English would be dethroned.. And a couple of juvenile efulefus are clapping at this broad day disrespect of our Traditional rulers by this little boy called Rochas.. WHO told Rochas that he has a say on who becomes Traditional ruler or not?! Who told Rochas that he has the powers to take away the stool of a traditional leader installed by our tradition and protected by the gods?! Our people say 'He whom the gods want to kill, they first make mad'.. Rochas is toying with fire..

So he has protected our language, what about our cultures and values.. How about before every meeting is held in the state (from the State Assembly to the governors office to even the private sector), Libations must be poured with Seamans Aromatic Schnapps and kolanut must be broken and shared..

Coke, Wine and Champagne as refreshment for visiting dignitaries should be banned and replaced with Garden Eggs and Ose' Orji with Palmwine.

Also any Traditional ruler that is found in Church, Mosque or any other place of worship other than his Obi or the Alusi of his community should be arrested and jailed.. Our deities must also be protected as they are a part and parcel of our heritage..

O yeah!! Also, all Igbo cultural celebration like our 'New Yam festivals' and co must also be declared public holidays in the state and all civil servants must return to their villages and participate in the celebrations.. And must get a participation letter from their village head affirming that they did indeed participated..

LIKE SERIOUSLY!!!!! Just when I thought this doofus of a Governor couldn't top his last antics of sharing Kerosene in a packed stadium and paying minors 100 naira a month salary, he goes and does this..

IMO STATE INDIGENES are really in deep shiit for the next 3 years..

And ask for that Joke of him being crowned 'EZE NDI IGBO GBURUGBURU'.. Nigga please... Like who gave the clown of an Eze the right to install a Charlatan like Rochas as Eze Ndi Igbo?!

IMO STATE seem to be filled with alot of clown Niggas just like their Clown Governor..
Couldn't have said it any better!

He has blatantly trampled on the said culture he is trying to "preserve". How can you disrespect the customs and custodians of tradition in such manner by being so autocratic and dictatoral? He probably needs to be reminded that his culture, customs and traditions came even before the advent of the state. Before there was a positivistic state, there existed the tradition and the people's way of life and that in a normal African society, the traditional leaders have more sway than the state leaders. He has no traditional right to dethrone a traditionally installed leader all for the flimsy excuse of not speaking ibo in a traditional setting. The state really need to seek working side by side with the traditional rulers and not imposing sanctions and law upon them. Doing this would express good governance but Rochas in his blind sight of protecting culture have kicked the cornerstone of the same culture to the dust. Sheer display of arrogance and disrespect!

Onlytruth: Also the second leg of my question is why the so called "dominated groups" are always fighting to keep the "dominating group" in Nigeria?
Makes no damn sense.

When our fathers felt that the British were dominating them, they seceded from Britain. Nigeria seceded from Britain in 1960 and the British didn't go to war to stop Nigeria's secession. Why should Nigeria go to war against say Igboland (Biafra carved from Igboland only)? Why would any Nigerian fight to keep Igbo in Nigeria? This logically seems to confuse not quite a few Nigerians.
That is why I allege mental retardation.
don't flatter yourself boy! That you have domineering, arrogant, annoying attitude does not mean you are dominating. You lot just suffer from delusion of grandeur but I suppose we should suffer you fools gladly as it makes you all sleep at night.

The "dominated" not letting the "dominating" go. What a load of baloney!
