BusinessRe: Cocoa Production In Nigeria Will Double By 2015 - Minister by DisGuy: 4:20pm On Sep 22, 2011
walex2:
Does dis shina knows anything about cocoa production? my late father has 2 cocoa planttions in Ekiti state. How on earth could fertizer boost increase productivity on cocoa? he should go to ore in ondo state, and ise ekiti in ekiti state, the 2 states being the highest producer of cocoa in Nigeria 'IF TEY PLANTS WITH FERTILIZER' and ask the poor farmers wot they really need to boost productivity, he would observe that the major needs are insecticde such as 'copper sulphate' and good marketing board that would buy the product directly from the farmers to encourage them and stop exploitation of private buyers. untill we have a minister of agriculture who is a practical farmer to the call that understand the rudiments, we would continue to diminish in agric output if all this coat and tie minister that knows nothing except 'the rule of thumb (book theory)' are still at the helm of affairs in our nation.
joy to the wise!
I agree this particular minister talk a lot of numbers!!!

Fertilizers actually increases yields, we dont use enough of it in farming in nigeria

The belief that we need a 'practical' farmer, just like we need an Engineer for the ministry of works/Power/transport or former football for the ministry of sports to achieve any tangible result is pure fallacy; we only have to look around the world
PoliticsRe: What Is So Difficult In Road Building? by DisGuy: 12:30pm On Sep 22, 2011
The Engineers will blame the politicians

The politicians will blame the local engineers

Foreign contractors blame the local graduates

and so on

Only in Nigeria u see roads built while the side track is left to deal with erosion.
this is the part i dont get, the break starts from the side, i wonder why they never close it us with a pavement, they expect everyone to walk on the road where cars are driving through

Why dont you contact your employer or if you can; visit the Embassy,
they can be very slow on the phone, they are more likely to respond face to face

Ronaldo200:
I think a little bit of respect both ways is needed. I don't think these people make much from their basic salary, of course it's their choice to work there. But many of us will happily and gladly give a bar tender a 10 per cent tip just gor giving us a drink in a bar with no additional extra service. I argued this with four of my Nigerian friends and said that I refuse to, that these people get their basic salary, why is it a given that I must tip them just for doing their job, but they all insisted that it's out of custom and it's cos they are so lowly paid.
I've been through MMA and Abuja severally over the last couple years and at times I have given a few Haifa here or there. Why? Cos my last remaining 1k perhaps means 10x more to a uniformed staff over there than it does to me over here. Nothing wrong with it if you ask me. But if it's being solicited aggressively I can understand how that may make one feel uncomfortable.
Do you think the Customs and immigration officers from the other end US/UK/Canada make fantastic money from their basic salary? Have you ever offered them 'tips'?
bar tenders don't ask for tips by the way, these guys are just criminals using their position/uniform to make life uncomfortable for travellers and embarrass the country
Respect shouldnt have anything to do with cash, following orders and staying in a straight queue making their job easier is respect, demanding money/delaying travellers is not!

Anyone trying to make an excuse for them is only promoting their criminal behaviour!

an even more crucial question; why are they still not supplying the self charge meters?

Atleast people will know they are paying for what they are using whatever the rate

and this fallacy about 'almost everyone use a generator' you ever been to my village? grin

the truth is these so called private investors will ask for more every three years, instead of competing against themselves for customers
In about four years time they'll form a cartel, fixing prices citing 'massive' improvement with their investments
Almost like the rail companies in the UK with their annual increase

kobikwelu:
and so what,

if u look at the US economic roundtable, it is made of CEO's of the top companies in the United States,

the fact is that most of these guys employ a lot of nigerians and invest their money here(back home),

so, its not a bad idea for them to be involved in certain policy framework,

(my 2 cents)
Erm the Economic management Team has only 3 people!! the round table is different from the management team and certainly no honorary members? BY the way, i'm not keeping exact count but Dangote is probably on about 38 committee, roundtable, leaders and many useless talk shop set up/funded by this President!!! What about involving the SMEs

Why exactly is Nyako there, because he has a big mango and ostrich farm? undecided

I think money and support is not the primary reason why our athletes don't do well. I think our athletes now have a lazy and settling-for-less mentality. You don't need that much money to train for track; determination and discipline is key. Many of those Kenyan and Ethiopian runners don't have the same resources our athletes have, yet they still manage to bag a few golds here and there. Jamaica does not have the same resources we have, but they have the fire in them.
Not only that they have they have a ready made excuse -maladministration and lack of funds, silly excuses in most cases if you ask me, the better they are the money sponsorship money comes in individually! if they dont do well they wont get sponsors; simples!

She is talking about implementation, not the structure of the budget itself.

GEJ's job is to come up with a budget, present the budget to the NASS, and then sign it after it is passed. He seems to have done his side of the deal.

WHat are you blaming him for again?
Amodu, Berti Vogts, Sani LULu etc did their side of the job, why do they get sacked for when Nigeria lose matches

No he hasn't, his side of the deal also includes him signing an implementable budget, recruit those that can implement the budgets and measuring performance as we go along, his side of teh deal is A through to Z not just presenting the paper with abc on it!
