Politics › Re: Who Took The Loans And Where Was It Spent? by DisGuy: 6:33pm On May 17, 2007
MAMAJAMA:
Impressive. what could the consequences be if we refused to pay this debt? they can have sanctions on us but at
least our country will be fully developed
. The presidency should have embark on investigation to find out who took the loans and what purpose was the loan for. and was it utilized to the full ability?
what would be the consequences if you fail to pay back a loan you get from a bank. you know the bailiffs would be at your door one early morning wink

Saying we shouldnt pay back the loan says a lot about our country people; when people lend you money in good faith you want to run away with the money?
later we probably complain the nigerian banks are not loaning people money to start business, why should they when we dont mind runing away with it?

she could have earned that money legitimately. afterall she was a nurse in texas. nurses in the u.s get paid bastardly. so its probably not laundered money. she was trying to avoid paying taxes or something. undecided
i just think that failing to declare it doesnt mean they can take her life savings. if it was a white woman who didnt declare it, they would never confisticate the money. its because she's an imigrant. they are always biased! angry
You really think so? so you'd probably do the same. na wa o
I dont think you pay tax for a transaction in another country
Politics › Re: Positive Things About Africa You Won't Hear In The West - Bbc Reporter by DisGuy: 3:55pm On May 17, 2007
i use to practise as a journalist and most of our African stories were soured from foreign media
60% of people who access the BBC Africa website from their mobile phones do so from Nigeria.
so they look up to the bbc for news about their country hmm
this is even more evident when u read our own papers
we don't have anything good thing to say about other African countries because a bulk of our stories come from the west.
of course i expect our bad side to be far greater since they is really not much to celebrate here
Ahhhh Bless

when people are talking in Nigeria they don't make reference to local newspapers. you hear them mentioning BBC and CNN you cant go to Nigeria website to get updated news. sometimes you even see News culled directly from BBC.

the fact that 90% of Nigerian newspapers are owned by politicians and praise singing quacks doesn't help either!

there must be a reason for not declaring the money

walel:
I am amused at the kind of responses to this story apparently a lof of you can't be bothered to read carefully enough simple the woman made from a real estate transaction in Nigeria obvioulsy there are tons of houses that can be sold for that amount of money the biggest tragedy for her at this point is that she most likely will be deported after this, true its not by force to become a US citizen but its safer just in case if she was a US citizen there would not be any possiblitly of deportation for this one offence but because she isnt a one she will/might be deportated after serving her 3years probabtion except the law changes before then
if she's business savvy enough to make huge amounts from real estate, she should be slick enough to transfer funds via a bank. Or just declare it. even criminals dont carry huge amounts of cash when travelling. this will probably get into America's Dumbest Criminal series
Politics › Re: Akunyili Or Ribadu: Who Performed Better? by DisGuy: 2:43pm On May 16, 2007
@ topic, both ladies have done very well and shld be commended for their efforts.
are you still talking about ribadu n dora? grin

If dora akunyili had been in charge of the EFCC should would have been accused of the same thing Ribadu is being accused of

Oby didnt do much, probably had little time to implement things. no short term gain mostly long term plans and alot of paperwork

We are now getting better people in. little by little we shall get there grin

Travel › Re: Woman Loses 11.8 Million Naira To US Immigration by DisGuy(mod): 1:54pm On May 16, 2007
for some reason it quite hard to reply to this

First the judgement is too harsh!

on the other hand, in 2007 why do nigerians people (never heard any other country carry cash).
there are banks in nigeria, there are banks in usa,
why cant she do the 'normal thing' and follow the rules.
its obviously safer to transfer funds via banks than carry them physically
Investment › Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by DisGuy: 12:37pm On May 15, 2007
that elephant is a bit malnourished, with some 100bn it will be a jumbo soon  cheesy

Apart from switching account officer and complaining about a particular officer, I think it will help if we
Write to the management about the overall customer service in their company, so they can do something
instead of just assigning another officer who will later on probably be the same later on.

or we can have Shareholders Association of Nairaland we all send them several letters concerning their services  cheesy
Career › Re: Is This Marketing Job Worth It? by DisGuy: 12:23pm On May 15, 2007
You could do it as work experience, just try make some targets then put it in your CV that you worked with Rolex and made XX millions in the two months. Make sure you bail after the two months except they have a better contract for you.

Naija hard o!

It seems every sector is taking the so called 'High Net Worth Individual' thing to heart o Maybe they treat man pikin better with N50million  cheesy
or we have to starting 'dropping something' to ease the process  angry

One alternative might be to leave your stock with present broker, until you intend to dispose of them, whilst opening a new account elsewhere, which I considered doing myself.
omoba3, you mean cashcraft too are acting some how?

I am in the sending them my details, i don't know if i should tranfer the others to them. The lady(egoldman recommended) I spoke with, was alright explaining the whole signing up process to me, she even 'went to the cafe' to chat when their computer went down (she was on break) a sign of things or just the signing on phase  undecided
