Women are cunning, but when one hears of women's manipulativeness they probably see women as some kind of mastermind manipulator. In reality, this could not be further from the truth..

A woman's cunning is not too dissimilar to those of a child---simplistic and backed only by self-centered motives. A man who is relatively aware of women's manipulative nature and tactics can easily spot and thwart them from the get-go.
The 'effectiveness' of any manipulation is directly proportional to the manipulatee's 'naivety'. In order to strengthen the machiavellian nature of women and increase their chances of survival, men are generally raised to naive and oblivious to female nature.

"Females are takers; sadly, the average male believes that everything that he produces should be to gratify the material wants (not needs) of the females in his life (i.e. birthdays, holidays, anniversaries). Even though females do not know what they want, males are still trained, especially by their mothers, to be workhorses for females. Females become spoiled children when they cannot use a male; females are masters of self- indulgence…and self-delusion. In the mind of a female, it is never her fault; males are always to blame!"

Men are raised to be trusting and caring towards females; females are raised to be cautious of males while simply exploiting the male's conscientiousness towards them.
Men are logical... until it comes to a relationship then they become emotional; Women are emotional... until it comes to a relationship then they become logical.

Because "women can never be in a relationship that doesn't benefit them" and their nature to exploit man's naivety, women don't compromise on what they need. For example, I read a post from twitter a while ago pertaining to this subject matter. It was along the lines of:
"Marriage was originally intended for virgin women, but throughout the centuries men's standards kept dropping until any woman could get married. Women's standards for marriage is a man's ability to provide, and throughout the centuries women's standards have remained the same."

Women (and weak men) may give platitudes on this but, when dealing with a woman one party *has* to take the role of 'follower' (or with women, the role of 'mugu' ). Now, should you wish to relate with woman it's up to you --- the man --- to choose which role you're comfortable with.

Due to their solipsism, egocentrism and innate desire to have their cakes and eat it, these quotes and sayings have little (if any) meaning to a female's actions.

Females wish for a gullible, manipulable man so they can utilise him as a tool, and have their way as much as possible with little to no consequences whilst doing so --- and with the abundance of simps available --- they will likely get him. They might even convince (delude) themselves into thinking such men are "real men", "kind men" or "romantics".
Now they have conceived a son. He has come of age and is anticipating having a female in his life as a girlfriend and later wife, or maybe it's their brother who wishes for a female in his life.. Suddenly, they are uncomfortable with the very notion of their blood being a romantic or real man. This is often the basis for many Mother-in-law vs. Daughter-in-law disagreements.

Females have no qualms whatsoever with manipulating and exploiting someone's son or brother---but the moment the tables are inevitably turned it doesn't make sense anymore.

As someone once said "Females are Professional Resource Extractors". The thought of their sons/brothers being "extracted"---being a mugu---for their money, gifts, favors and/or attention is quite grating to them. But they'll gladly do the same to other people's sons or brothers.
When these men have exhausted their 'usefulness', or for some reason the extractions has come to a halt, females will then hit them with their signature "What have you ever done for me?" or "Did I force you/him to give me anything?"

How "clever" one must be to have they cake and eat it... except, no one really gets away with anything. The moment one makes the decision to have and eat their cake they've set up their investments of consequences, and in time they'll get the returns in some shape or form.
And like that, their unhappiness from these decisions, mindsets and consequences will surely seep into the lives of the men deeply involved with them.

To think that one can actually act and have no reaction, that one's actions can cause but have no effect are often the signs of narcissistic, deceptive and shallow minds, and perhaps the reason why this is a common phenomenon amongst women and an ingrained feature in their nature.

A somewhat derogatory term - "Fish brains" refers to a woman's logic and deductive reasoning being childlike, or rather, fish-like.
Few women will have a 'limiter' --- stunted growth of the mind --- at a young age, but the remaining--- most ---women, will have not one but two limiters that will be perpetually kept in place by their actions (dictated by their childlike minds) and by society's disinclination to hold them accountable for their actions.

The first mind stunt occurs early in their lives, from how they're raised (by their mothers) which is different from how a boy is typically raised. This stunt also necessitates her ability to be a chameleon (to forsake ideologies & integrity and side with any option that benefits her [the most] at any given moment):

Suppose she became a vegetarian (sensitive being that she is) --- what happens if she later marries an Australian cattle farmer? Would it have helped Jacqueline Bouvier to have developed ideological concepts as an adolescent? A leaning toward democracy helped her first marriage with J.F.K, a leaning toward fascism helps the second. But since she is one of the most 'feminine' of women, she is probably not interested in men's beliefs anyway. Basically she is interested only in pleasing and influencing women."

The second mind stunt occurs towards and around puberty. Here they notice the exploitative naivety of males, the power of sex, and how all this can ensure their lives of comfort and leisure (marriage):

Woman is a coin with two sides: Eve and Lilith. Woman is fish brained by conditioning (and with reason). Her logic needs to be deficit, in a sense, so she can be malleable, hence; submissive - she becomes "Eve" and this comes with the downside of being 'fishbrained'. If she isn't conditioned, for whatever reason, she will be defiant and more destructive - she becomes "Lilith" and and this comes with the downside of being 'truculent'.

Because a ship can't have two captains and man cannot lead a defiant woman, going with the "lesser evil" of stunting woman's mind which in turn makes her submissive (and dumb) is the preferred option for man and, ultimately, society.

So chaotic is female nature that one has to choose the between two "evils" with them.
