Jesus is the reason for the book. All the prophecies of scripture point towards Jesus Christ of Nazareth. This was one of the criteria used to choose canonical books.
Also, the Words of scripture had to agree with the Words of other recognized books and prophets of God, otherwise they were discarded.

The Jews already had what they regarded as scripture (and which we hold today as the old testament) hundreds of years before the Roman Catholic church.

The other books which the Roman Catholics later added were not co-opted into the Hebrew old Testament, because they were written after Old Testament prophecies, oracles and direct revelation had ceased.

Josephus (read about him) rejected them as a whole. The jews never recognized them as part of the Hebrew scriptures. Neither did Jesus or any of the other New Testament writers ever quote from them. They were not accepted as cononical books.


I stand by the Words of scripture with my life. No going back on it.
