Common sense should tell you that one of the aims of the boko haram sect is to Islamized the north and drive all Christians away. If the Christians sit back at home for the fears of being kill, refused to attend church services, then boko haram has won.

To them, you don't win all the time and you don't lose all the time too. If you lose you lose, if you win you win. They are not emotionally attached to the love or relationship. So, failing out of sight, luck (or not marrying you) does little or no hurts or harm to them. Some however, invests all their future, resources, life, etc into the love or relationship and any slighted shift from their expectations leave them miserable or greatly devastated. THE FORMER IS A CHOICE FOR MANY IN THIS MODERN AGE OF MISTRUST ESPECIALLY IN LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS.

Go back into history, from pre-colonial to pre-independence, from post-independence to the civil war, from the civil war through periods of military rules to the present day Nigeria. No true Yoruba person will want to sink down with a South South man or any tribe, except its in their own interest.

As for the North, they're using him and will dump him when the time comes. The North love themselves (and more so if you're a Moslem) as against the South and Ameachi - a Christian.
