I feel so relieved reading your post.There are so many brand with Cipro.... Out there and the medication is by far toxic than curative.
When NAFDAC was effective, I clearly remembered no month passes without publications and public campaign awareness regarding fake drugs, their manufactures, their country of origin and what to do once medications becomes toxic with side effects as most people have commented.
Ciprofloxacin brand medications should be prohibited for medicinal use until tested proven and confirm safe to use for consumers.

it is very true in Naija where there seem to be no law. Drs train illiterates call them auxiliary nurses and these illiterates are asked to perform nursing duties putting many lives at risk, they make silly errors, do unthinkable things, but the public will shout 'nurses are at it again'. Many of the so-called private hospitals in Naija even big ones make use of quacks. Personally in my area I know abt 10 girls who didn't even complete Sec. School, yet they parade about now claiming to be nurses, one is even suspected to be running a home service for illiterates like her who don't value their lives.
So the menace these guilty Drs are creating is something that's killing the health care system as a whole, in a bid to have more profit because they don't want to pay qualified personels rather quacks they'll pay stipend. Quacks who don't know right from wrong, who don't know the rationelles behind each nursing action, some can't even speak a complete sentence in English, they think all that is to nursing is giving inj. After the pt dies from negligence or wrong treatment they claim it's the will of God. They shout 'Quack Drs', but are the quack nurses they train any less dangerous? Nursing is not a vocation like fashion designing, u can go to anyone to learn, it's a profession. This is life we are talking abt, bt alas, everything is upside down.
But like I said earlier, it isn't their fault.

Very very sad and annoying. This story just makes me so angry but I don't know why. This very same canal has been used by criminals in the past as their gettaway route... It's faster since there's no traffic to slow them down. This case is particularly annoying because there's a police station very close to the robbery scene. What use is it having a Police department if they wont respond to distress calls? Also the federal government has to draft laws to forbid private hospitals from turning away critical patients during an emergency. This is pure madness, they could've saved this woman's life had they stopped the bleeding, even a simple pressure dressing or tourniquet could've made some difference.

Now what I would critique is the approach parents indulge. Some use force, mere folklores or insultive words. On the other hand, Children in their ignorant nature can choose some ridiculous fields probably being influenced by the media or friends.

I read something from Ngozi Okonjo Iweala. She said her dad always gives her economic books to read and made it exciting for her. Thus, her interest in economics grew. I also had a female friend, whose dad, in his effort to encourage his kids to enjoy maths, made it exciting by using word plays and games whilst promising them cash gifts if they could solve puzzles. All her sisters including herself are Engineers.

Parents can guide their children and assist them with making a good decision with career choices. It is not just by telling them, it is important to show and guide them. Draw their attention to role models, important people and I don't mean wizkid et al.

You do have a point, however experience have taught me,its much better to let the kids bring forth what they naturally have flair and passion for.Then encourage them to attend career guide counselling sessions.
Choosing careers and profession for children does not always turn out to be satisfying nor fulfilling.

Before you are arrested in the UK and most organised societies, especially for a crime like Diezani is being accused of, they must have done their homework for months and maybe years. They have the evidence and they are ready to either prosecute her or send her back to Nigeria. The UK is not a zoo or a lawless country. They cannot detain her indefinitely. This is just the beginning. They have confiscated her passport which means she cannot travel out of the UK. Dont be surprised that she might seek political asylum which will be turned down very quickly.

Diezani is in a lot of trouble. This is a multi national investigation and it was well planned. None of us had a clue , not even the over zealous Nigerian media. The best she can do now is to start singing like a parrot and name all her co- thieves.
