CrimeKidnappers Sentenced To Death By Hanging Over Doctor’s Abduction by donogaga(op): 4:03pm On May 07, 2016
On Thursday, another state High Court sitting in Abakaliki, sentenced two persons, Onyemachi Oge and Okechukwu Oma, to death by hanging for kidnapping a medical doctor, Dr. Chuka Manyinke.

The duo, alongside Chukwuemeka Levi, Idris Oken, Edeke Desmond and Ijeoma Oge, were accused of kidnapping Manyinke, a doctor of paediatrics at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki on May 5, 2013 at his private hospital located on 15, Owerri Street, Abakaliki. Manyinke’s security guard, identified simply as Peter, was shot dead for attempting to prevent the hoodlums from kidnapping his boss.
The sum of N3 million ransom was paid before the medical doctor was released after six days in captivity.

Onyemachi Oge and Oma got N200,000 from the ransom. Oma, a tailor opposite Manyinke’s hospital, provided information to the kidnappers and gave them directives on how to perfect the act while Onyemachi supplied beer, biscuits and water to the doctor during his days in captivity. All the accused persons have been in prison custody since the incident.

Delivering judgment on the matter yesterday at High Court 3, Justice Eze Udu said the prosecution counsel, I. I. Anikwe, proved his case against Onyemachi Oge the 4th accused and Okechukwu Oma 6th accused beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced them to death by hanging.

Foreign AffairsBillionaire Is Offering $180,000,000 To Any Man Willing To Marry His Daughter by donogaga(op): 12:22pm On May 07, 2016
Meet Chinese billionaire Cecil Chao. A man who made his fortune through a huge real estate empire that focuses on the development of luxury high rises and trophy properties in Hong Kong. He is seeking help on turning his daughter into a straight female. And the price tag is heavy.

"He is known for making outlandish statements such as the time he was quoted by the Hong Kong media for saying he had bedded over 10,000 women in his lifetime. Most famous of all his public announcements was in 2012 when he offered $60,000,000 USD in the form of a “dowry” (which is a parental transfer of money or property) to whichever man could turn his daughter straight. He came back in 2014 upping the ante to $120,000,000 USD. And now he’s back to say the bounty is now $180,000,000 to who ever can get the job done.
This woman is your competition fellas:
I'm thinking a trip on her fancy yacht followed by some bomb D. This is a no brainer. At most I will spend 2k on flights and hotel and the return could be massive. Who's up for it?

May the best man win!

FamilySee How Marriage Used To Be Sweet; B4 The Love Of Money Started Scattering Homes by donogaga(op): 11:36pm On May 06, 2016
What you’re about to read was written by a professor who’s worried about what marriage has become. It’s a comparative analysis between wives of today and wives of the good days by Prof. Yusuf Dankofa:

1). Yesterday’s Wives
Welcome my husband, hope the office was not stressful., your favorite food is ready, let me lead you to the bathroom first, then you take your dinner, you look so tired, am sure you’ll be okay after taking your dinner, welcome my one and only.

Some Today’s Wives
Please don’t put unnecessary pressure on me, you can go to the fridge pick up the soup and microwave it and boil some rice, I’m your wife and not your slave. We are equal, nothing like a head.

2). Yesterday’s Wives
Darling stop thinking about our lack of money. Its going to be temporary. God will see us through and we are going to come out of it stronger. After all, we can still feed ourselves and the children. We need to give the Almighty that glory. I am with you through thick and thin, my husband.

Some Today’s Wives
Look I am sick and tired of living in this condition with you. Why did you bring me to your house when you know that you are not ready for marriage? Every day you come with one complaint or the other. Are you the Complainant General of Nigeria? We don’t have a big car, our house is in Abule-Egba, when your mates are in the Island and Ikeja. Look if you don’t do something, you will come back and not find me in this your nonsense house.

3). Yesterday’s Wives
My husband, we only have 3 children, don’t you think we should have more? You know children are gifts and mercies from God. Who knows, one of these children will make us proud tomorrow.

Some Today’s Wives
Look am sick and tired of this marriage. You won’t allow me to rest by your constant urge to have more children. I am okay with our two children. I can’t allow you to spoil my figure 8 by bearing another 4 children. You are so wicked that I feel you want to spoil my psychedelic looks. If you dare disturb me one this bed again, I will sue you for r*pe.

4). Yesterday’s Wives
My husband, take heart and don’t worry. I shall go with you to Zaria. Your being transferred from Lagos to Zaria might be a blessing in disguise. We shall take the advantage of the less expensive schools over their to save the huge money we spend for our children’s education, for future purposes. This your transfer could just be a blessing.

Some Today’s Wives
Me I can’t follow you to Zaria o. God forbid bad thing. From Lagos to Zaria? I can’t cope with such nonsense. To start living in a local town without my friends? You had better look for another wife. I can’t live in a town without SilverBirds, Shoprite and other big places. You’re on your own please.

5). Yesterday’s Wives
My husband, I have enough clothes. This N1,000 you are giving me, keep it and save for a rainy day.

Some Today’s Wives
Why are you so stingy? Do you have super glue in your palms? What kind of shopping do you want me to do with just N10,000? What can I buy? Do I look like a cheap girl? I am disappointed in you. Your mates are buying iPhone for their girlfriends and wives, giving them $10,000 to go Dubai, you are here humiliating me with ordinary Naira. I don’t blame you. It is because I refused to marry my ex-boyfriend because of XYZ reason, that’s why you are messing with me. In fact, I will leave your house.

– The spirit of ‘instant gratification‘ is catching up with many. I wish our ladies of today will be patient enough to understand their purpose in marriage. Build a sustainable life, not just to enjoy today!

PoliticsNigeria To Lose $5.3m Daily As Militants Blow Up Chevron’s Platform by donogaga(op): 10:41am On May 06, 2016
Following the blowing up of Chevron’s Valve Platform Wednesday night by Niger Delta militants, Nigeria will be losing an estimated $5.3 million daily.

The militants blew up the platform located on the high sea near Escravos in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that Chevron operations in the area would be halted as the platform is a major connecting point where all other platforms link up and serves as a fulcrum to Chevron BOP and the Chevron tank farm.

Also, it was learnt that nothing less than 130,000 barrels of oil per day would be lost to the incident.

By calculation, and going by the current price of crude in the international market, $41.02, the country would be losing an estimate of $5.3 million daily.

An oil expert described the attack as a major setback to the country’s oil production, saying the facility is among the company’s most significant platforms.

Chevron Refuses to Comment

Though Chevron was yet to come out with an official statement on the attack, a new militant group in the region, the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), has claimed responsibility.

According to a statement issued by the group’s spokesman, Madoch Agbinibo, “The high command of the Niger Delta Avengers wants to use this medium to thank Strike Team 6 for successfully blowing up the Chevron Valve Platform. And we are ready to protect the Niger Delta people.

“This is what we promised the Nigerian government. Since they refused to listen to us we are going to zero the economy of the country.

“As for zeroing the Nigerian economy, the Niger Delta Avengers is done with Delta State major oil installations. Now, we are taking the fight out of the creeks to the Niger Delta. We are taking it to Abuja and Lagos now.

“We want to pass this message to the international oil companies operating in the Niger Delta that the Nigeria military can’t protect their facilities. They should talk to the Federal Government to meet our demands else more mishaps will befall their installations.”

The group had earlier claimed responsibility for the attack on the Forcados 48-inch Export Pipeline, which was attacked two months ago.

Meanwhile, report of this latest attack was broken by navy spokesman, Chris Ezekobe, on Thursday, saying that the attack occurred about 40 nautical miles from the Escravos terminal, around the southern city of Warri.

The commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta, Raimi Mohammed, who said he got the news as well but said he could not say much on the incident until after it has been confirmed.

“We got news like that this morning but we are yet to confirm. We have asked our people in Escravos to confirm. It happened deep offshore but we need confirmation to know what really happened,” he said.

The latest attack, however, happened less than three weeks after President Muhammadu Buhari threatened to treat pipeline vandals like Boko Haram Islamist militants.

Buhari had told some Nigerians resident in China that “the government is still being dared, but those who are sensible should have learnt a lesson. Those who are mad, let them continue in their madness.

“I am aware that in the last two weeks, the national grid collapsed a number of times. I hope this message will reach the vandals and saboteurs who are blowing up pipelines and installations. We will deal with them the way we dealt with Boko Haram.”

The militants said they would not relent until they grind the economy to a halt.

CelebritiesBerkely College Profiled Tiwa Savage In 2007 by donogaga(op): 5:45pm On May 05, 2016
Tiwa Savage‘s life could have taken a very different track. Just a few years ago, the vocalist was working at the Royal Bank of Scotland, after graduating from the University of Kent with a degree in business administration. But music had always been her first love, and when she got the call to sing backup for Mary J. Blige—for a European tour that was beginning in just three days—Savage decided to chuck accounting and focus on her music full-time.

Savage had done backup since the age of 17, when she sang for George Michael. Since then she’d gone on to work for Blue Cantrell andKelly Clarkson, but she didn’t want to be a backup singer forever. So she decided to come to Berklee to focus on her solo career.

At 27, Savage is older than most students, but their enthusiasm was infectious. ‘When I came to Berklee and saw a lot of the younger students, their drive and their passion, it recharged my batteries,’ says Savage. ‘[They’re] not thinking, ‘I’m going to save about $10,000 before I move,’ no, ‘I’m just going to get my backpack and move.’ I needed that fresh air, that atmosphere. I kind of felt like a 19-year-old.

The relationships she’s made here extend beyond than the college experience. As she lists off the producers of the album she’s currently recording—Black Eyed Peas drummer Keith Harris, Derek Pate, Scott Coleman, Radar Ellis, and Darien Dorsey—she notes, ‘All of them are from Berklee.’

Making the leap from backup to lead isn’t without its pressures. As a backup singer, she could focus completely on her performance. Now, there’s interviews with media, songwriting, and every eye on her onstage. ‘It’s a whole different ballgame. Doing backgrounds, you just turn up at the gig and if it gets a bad review, it had nothing to do with you. If you’re the artist, you take a lot of stuff personally,’ says Savage.

Savage has an advantage that many singers don’t—her business background. And she’s capitalized on that by majoring in professional music here at Berklee and focusing on music business, songwriting, and music production classes. ‘It’s helping me now with my band, when we get contracts, when we have to pay people, when we have to be professional in dealing with people,’ says Savage. ‘Sometimes when people see that you’re educated and you know what you’re talking about, they don’t really want to mess with you, swindle you or something.’

Savage has already had a glimpse of the pressures of fame. Last year she participated inX Factor—the British competition that spawnedAmerican Idol—and made it to the top 24. The press was trying so hard to find out the results of the competition before it was televised that they were camped out in front of the hotel hoping to catch a glimpse of one of the finalists. ‘As soon as you wake up there’s a camera crew in front of the hotel, people trying to snap pictures of you in the bathroom,’ says Savage. ‘So we had to disguise our names when we were checking into hotels and restaurants, use Mickey Mouse or Tinker Bell.’

The limelight was difficult to deal with at the time, but Savage thinks it’s prepared her for the realities of the career she’s aiming for. ‘You have to always realize that people are watching. When I got the bad news that I wasn’t getting through [to the final 12] it was a really painful time. But you still have to learn how to hold that until you get home. Because you don’t want to just let everything out. People admire you and want to see that you’re strong; they don’t want to see you breaking down.’

Savage’s family immigrated to England from Nigeria when she was 11, and the things she experienced in Nigeria have an impact on her life to this day. ‘Living in all three places-in Africa, in Europe, and now the United States-it’s really opened my eyes. I’m really accepting of a lot of cultures. . . . I feel a lot older than I am, because I’ve seen a lot. A lot of poverty in Nigeria, but people still smiling when they don’t even have water,’ says Savage. ‘I kept saying to myself that when I made it I was going to invest millions and I just realized I have to do stuff now. People always say, when I make it. . . . If you don’t discipline yourself now, you’re never going to do it, even if you do get millions.’

To that end, Savage is traveling to Africa in December to help raise money for an organization that builds schools. This summer, she’s performing in Berklee’s summer concert series, giving free shows in outdoor locations all over the city, from the Boston Center for the Arts, to the Institute of Contemporary Art, to Kendall Square, before moving to L.A. in the fall to work on her first album. She’s learned that having a full life means fusing all aspects of it-from music to business to charity.

If a man can sincerely say to his wife “you are a good woman”, he should count himself among the lucky men in today’s troubled marriage institution. I believe popular comedian Akpororo is sincere.

He took to Instagram to celebrate his wife, Josephine, as she turned a year older. He’s so excited that he even pleaded with his fans to join and celebrate his wife. Read what he wrote about her…

RomanceMen Still Want To Have Unprotected Sex With Esnath, An HIV Prostitute by donogaga(op): 12:42am On May 05, 2016
A HIV-positive prostitute has revealed that men still want to have unprotected s*x with her even after telling them of her status.HIV-positive Esnath Sikweyala who is a prostitute has revealed that men still demand to have s*x with her without condom even after disclosing that she is HIV-positive.

The woman who has accepted her status and is living well has now started to educate other s*x workers on the need to use condoms to avoid contracting the disease.

According to Weekend Post, Sikweyala’s main challenge is the desire by some of her “clients” to have unprotected s*x with her.

“I look well as you can see, to an extent that some men demand to have unprotected s*x with me. I end up showing them my pills, but some do not care about my medication and continue to demand unprotected s*x. So, sometimes I do not understand the logic behind these men’s thinking,” Sikweyala said.

She said what keeps her going for now is the fact that she was taught on how to live positively, adding that it is her right to deny unprotected s*x.

She talks about the importance of teaching her colleagues the need to use condom during s*x.

“I am a peer educator and I also distribute condoms to some of my colleagues.

“My policy is no condom, no s*x, and I do not risk by sacrificing myself having unprotected s*x for money, otherwise I will die early and leave my children suffering,”she said.

Speaking further, Sikweyala revealed that as part of the s*x education initiative, they had printed T-shirts to push the no condom, no s*x agenda. She said in most cases she refuses having unprotected s*x.

“When I refuse unprotected s*x, I am trying to protect my client’s life and mine because I do not want to be re-infected. We were taught that if you continue having unprotected s*x, you end up getting re-infected,” she said.

Revealing how she got involved in prostitution, the woman revealed that she entered the trade after the death of her husband in the year 2000 as it was the only way she could take care of her family. The 42-year-old mother of three is not ashamed of her trade and opened up on how this has shaped her life, from ensuring her children attend school to earning a “descent” life.

Her first child is now married and lives in Cape Town, South Africa, while the second born is doing “O” Level.

She gave birth to her third child, who is now 13 years old, when she was already HIV-positive. The child is HIV-negative. Speaking to journalists who were part of a recently-conducted National Aids Council tour, Sikweyala, said her children have been very supportive in that they urge her to take her tablets.

“But it’s not all rosy,” she said.

The woman who narrated the difficulty she passes in the hands of clients, revealed that some men deliberately break the condoms, in order to have unprotected s* with her, while some demand their money back after s* or assault her for refusing unprotected s*x.

“We are at the risk of contracting sexually-transmitted infections,” she said.

Her dream is to find an income-generating project in order for her to retire from the trade.

Bro, That's point number 2 - CONSTANT COMMUNICATION.

Sex is a form of communication. You can bet that if couples are harboring resentment or not communicating appropriately, it shows in their sex life.

Communication affects our total life; our total life affects sex. Couples need to communicate about their hopes, dreams, fears and hurts as well as the daily details of life in order for the relationship to flourish.

FamilyFor Any Marriage To Work, The Following Must Exist In It!!! by donogaga(op): 10:45pm On May 02, 2016
LESSONS FROM MARRIAGE EXPERIENCES...

For any marriage to work the following must exist in it ;

1. THE WILL TO MAKE IT WORK AGAINST ALL ODDS - because when everything else fails this will be the only thread to hang on.

2. CONSTANT COMMUNICATION - always tell your partner how you feel or how you felt. What you like and what you don't like. How you want it and how you don't want it. NEVER ASSUME he/she knows. Please don't go to bed without resolving that mis-understanding.

3. TRUE LOVE - because if you truly love your partner you will always seek for the best in him/her. Meanwhile what's your business being in marriage with someone you are not drunk in love with?

4. RESPECT AND THE GOLDEN RULE - Treat your partner exactly how you wish to be treated. If you know you won't take shit then don't give shit too.

5. CONTENTMENT - be satisfied with the partner God has given you. Stop comparing your spouse with what you see on TV, social media and the likes. Don't be deceived those are not exactly as they seem. Let your love not be defined by material things.

6. GOD FACTOR - A family that prays together stays together. Make the bible your standard, and ensure to make family prayers and devotion a compulsory daily ritual.

7. BE LESS EXPECTANT AND MORE TOLERANT - always remember nobody is perfect and that includes your spouse. Learn to be patient and don't get tired of talking about the same thing over and over again, yea not fair but you got no better choice. Learn to show love expecting nothing in return so you don;t always get your bubbles busted.

8. OPENNESS - keeping secrets from your spouse is like keeping secrets from yourself. For how long do you think you will hide it?

9. LEARN TO APOLOGIZE, BE POLITE AND SHOW APPRECIATION - We all need to be thought and reminded about the unlimited power in saying simple sorry, thank you and please. I actually had to learn these. These simple words works wonders you can't imagine.

Love, love , love and just don't stop loving and caring for your partner. Even when there's no justifiable reason to keep loving, just show more love. Never be scared to love some more. We are not perfect either but promise to keep trying everyday to be a better husband/wife. I'll recommend everyone to do same too.

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love." (1John 4:18)

PoliticsInvestigate Oil Firms Over Pipeline Attacks, Tompolo Tells PMB by donogaga(op): 7:22am On May 02, 2016
The former Niger Delta militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, at the weekend, broke his silence over the recent attacks on oil and gas pipelines in the region, urging the President Mohammad Buhari to investigate the oil servicing companies.

Tompolo, in an open letter personally signed and titled “Am not part of the Niger Delta Avengers Group‎”, alleged that the oil pipeline repair servicing companies sabotage the pipelines in order to secure surveillance and repair contracts from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) due to deficiency in handling the jobs.

Tompolo’s statement, made available to newsmen via email, also drew the attention of President Muhammad Buhari to the rising disenchantment among members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta and Bayelsa states over delay in political appointments, claiming that such delay may have also lured the party members into nefarious activities such as oil and gas pipeline attacks.

The statement read in part,  “It is very important to let Mr President and the security agencies in the country know that some members of the ruling party, particularly from Bayelsa and Delta states, are not happy with him ‘President Buhari’ because they have not gotten anything from him after almost a year since he assumed office by way of appointments and contracts, therefore some of them are involved in nefarious activities in the oil and gas sector in order to be engaged in pipeline surveillance.

“I am aware of how such persons are chasing the Minister of Petroleum for State, Dr Ibe Kachikwu around. It is my humble advice to the federal government to thoroughly investigate some of the servicing companies engaged in repairing damaged pipelines as sabotage on their own part is not ruled out. Some of them may not even have the capacity to carry out such repairs but must have worked their way in to get the contract in connivance with some people at the corridors of power

and turn around to tender the security situation in the Niger Delta as an excuse because they are being paid ‘down time’ payment. “

The statement also urged the oil servicing companies to go about their normal operations, particularly the repair of the Forcados 48-inch pipeline which is very key to the economic stability of our country.

“I have said on many occasions that I will not resort to violence because of my case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or wage war against the federal government as my legal team is working towards the resolution of the issue,” it stated.

On his alleged membership of a new militant group known as the Niger Delta Avengers, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo said though he had took part in the setting up of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), the membership and operations of the new group is not known to him.

“My attention has been drawn to security reports linking me to a new militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers, who claimed responsibility for the damaged Forcados 48-Inch Export Pipeline some time ago, it is imperative to state unequivocally that I do not have a link with this new militant group. I am not part of the group,” he stressed.

Family10 Ways To Help A Friend's Struggling Marriage. by donogaga(op):
Do you wonder how you can help friends and family members who are struggling in marriage? Here are some time-tested tips and resources to move them away from divorce court and toward reconciliation.

1. Pray for them by name.
Ask God to intervene in their marriage. Ask God to give you and others wisdom to know how to help. Pray in their presence as well as when alone. Send emails and note cards of encouragement.

2. Listen.
Listening doesn't mean simply hearing. It involves empathizing, seeking to understand and expressing genuine interest.

3. Don't give advice.
Your main job is listening. Leave the advice giving to a genuine pastor, counselor or mentor.

4. Don't make the problem worse.
Don't allow your support to be seen as an encouragement to give up or get a divorce. Your job is to help steer them toward the proper help and reconciliation (If addiction or abuse is involved, make sure they get the professional help they need and are safe).

5. Help them think outside the divorce box.
Booklets such as When Your Marriage Needs Help, Should I Get a Divorce, and Marriage and Conflict can give couples both research and practical advice to help them consider the facts about divorce and how to get the help they need for their marriage.

6. Help them find the right help.
Locate a good, licensed Christian counselor in their area. Ask your pastor or Christian M.D. for a referral. Focus on the Family offers a free counseling consult as well as a free
referral service to a Focus-screened marriage therapist.

7. Connect them with a mentor couple.
If you are not qualified to help, call your pastor to recommend an older couple who is willing to mentor a younger couple.

8. Refer them to helpful Web sites.
Web sites such as Pure Intimacy and FocusOnTheFamily.com offer hundreds of articles, practical advice and resource
recommendations on various marriage issues.

PoliticsRe: Cross River State Governor Shocks Workers, Pays May Salary. by donogaga(m): 10:20pm On May 01, 2016
This is taking an overdraft, it will hurt if the next salary is not paid on time.

However, has he paid April? Well, if yes, what the workers need now is increment in order to meet up. All the same, he has done well. This is commendable Sir, Good job indeed, kudos!

And again, hope he will pay June salary in May, if not they will wait for 2 months before they will be paid.

I think he's the only governor in the country that has abolished taxation for low income earners.

CultureOba Of Benin: Panic Grips Residents Over Traditional Rituals by donogaga(op): 8:49am On May 01, 2016
There was tension within the Benin metropolis and adjoining towns yesterday, following the announcement of the death of the Oba of Benin Kingdom, HRM Oba Erediauwa by the palace chiefs on Friday.

Many residents, especially women as well as visitors, remained indoors for fear of being used as sacrifice, following rumours of traditional burial rites that may include human heads.

Markets in Benin remained closed yesterday as mourning of the deceased Oba began.

When LEADERSHIP Sunday went around the metropolis yesterday, it was found that the popular New Benin Market and similar markets were closed just as operators of other business outlets closed their shops ahead of the normal closing hours in the day. Some of them were seen hurriedly locking up their shops around evening, not wanting to be outside at dusk. Popular relaxation spots in the metropolis were also closed for business.

A palace source however told LEADERSHIP Sunday that the apprehension was unnecessary as the rumoured practice of human sacrifice was non-existent.

CareerPassion Is Not The Ultimate by donogaga(op): 2:52pm On Apr 30, 2016
PASSION : The strong driving force that compels you to keep moving when everything around you is screaming out loud for you to stop. (My definition)

To get to the top you must be crazily passionate about what you do, but to remain at the top and stay relevant, much more than passion is required, you need COMPASSION.

COMPASSION : the driving force that keeps you going, even when those who TRULY NEED (not want) your service can't really AFFORD to pay for it. (My definition)

When you have hit success in your career, compassion is what makes you want to give back. Compassion is what makes a successful Doctor carry out that surgery even when they can't pay for it. Compassion is what makes that pastor stay up all night interceding on that troubled family's behalf without them knowing. Compassion is what makes you let that cab man that hit your car to go even when he was at fault because you know that's all he has to feed his poor family. Compassion is what makes a billonaire donate money to poverty stricken nations. Compassion is what makes a great musician host a concert just to raise money for charity.

Compassion looks beyond self and yearns to apply a talent or gift to impact the world . That's the true definition of success.

It's ok to discover your passion and make a success out of it, but great and lasting success is COMPASSION DRIVEN. It will always outlive you.

Are you building a career or vision? make sure you are Passionate about it. Have you hit the Jackpot of your career? Then get compassionate about it.
Foreign AffairsMalawi's Albinos At Risk Of 'total Extinction,' U.N. Warns by donogaga(op): 8:29am On Apr 30, 2016
The southern African nation has about 10,000 albinos.

Malawi has seen increasing attacks in recent years, U.N.
warns

Malawi's albinos are at risk of "total extinction" amid escalating attacks against them for their body parts, the United Nations warned.

Albinism is a genetic condition that leads to little or no pigment in the eyes, skin and hair. The southern African nation has about 10,000 albinos, according to the U.N.

In some African countries, albinos' body parts are believed to bring wealth and good luck. As a result, attackers chop off their limbs and pluck out organs, and sell them to witchdoctors.

Even after albinos are killed, some attackers go a step further and steal their remains from graveyards, said Ikponwosa Ero, the United Nations' expert on albinism.

"Persons with albinism, and parents of children with albinism, constantly live in fear of attack," she said.

Albinism is a genetic condition that leads to little or no pigment in the eyes, skin and hair.

"Many do not sleep peacefully and have deliberately restricted their movement to the necessary minimum."

Ero, who's an albino, recently visited Malawi, which has seen an increasing number of attacks. Since the end of 2014, there have been 65 recorded cases of attacks, the U.N. said.

Ero urged the government to step in to protect albinos and go after their killers more aggressively. "It is clear that an urgent and coordinated response from the government, civil society and development partners working in strong partnership with each
other is required," she said.

She called for better training for police and those who work for the court system, saying punishment for those who attack albinos is not stringent enough.

"As pointed out by various stakeholders during my visit, stealing a cow may attract a higher penalty," she said.

Albinism is not limited to countries such as Tanzania, Burundi and Malawi.

In the United States, about one in 20,000 people have some type of albinism. But in countries such as Tanzania, the number can be as high as one in 1,500.

PetsDOG FUNERAL - US Police Dog Given State Burial. by donogaga(op): 7:38am On Apr 30, 2016
US Police dog given State Burial. The dog worked hard for the country.

A nation that does not honour heroes, is not worth dying for. The dog served the US with all its strength and might.

Food for thought.
