This write up was inspired by this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/3103346/uju-stella-pregnant-burna-boy Uju Stella: "I Am Pregnant For Burna Boy" - Lady Claims. THE BABY MAMA SYNDROME. Baby mamas are unwed mothers of any age. The fathers of their children are baby daddies. “Baby mama drama” has become a common expression for the many conflicts associated with baby mamas. Less well known is “baby daddy trauma,” which refers mostly to domestic or other violence committed by a baby daddy. “Drama” and “trauma” don’t begin to describe all the issues included in the Baby Mama Syndrome? WHAT IS THE BABY MAMA SYNDROME? Dictionary definitions of syndrome often describe “a constellation of” symptoms, things, events etc. related to a certain condition. A syndrome is also defined as “a predictable pattern” of circumstances, behaviors, events etc. associated with a particular social condition. Unwed pregnancies and births are the social condition we’re dealing with here. I define the Baby Mama Syndrome as the constellation of circumstances, people, relationships, behaviors, and negative effects related in any way to two people making a baby together when they are not married to each other. It is not a medical or psychological diagnosis, although some of the negative effects on individual baby daddies and especially on baby mamas and their children can be both psychological and medical. CAN WE SIMPLIFY THAT DEFINITION? I’ll try. The Baby Mama Syndrome starts with two people who are not married to each other conceiving a child together. The Baby Mama Syndrome involves the baby mama, the baby daddy, their biological relatives and in-laws, as well as other baby mamas and baby daddies with “ties” to the baby mama or baby daddy, plus friends, the police, the court system, society, taxpayers, and, of course, the child. The Syndrome includes any behavior by any of those people or institutions that would not have happened if the baby had never been conceived. It can also include living arrangements, employment, and lifestyle. In fact, it includes just about anything related to the two unmarried parents. We all suffer from the Baby Mama Syndrome. The number of illegitimate births in our country every year is huge, and this phenomenon has changed our culture forever, with lasting negative effects on individuals (especially the children), governments, and society. OK, SO THAT IS NOT VERY SIMPLE. TRY AGAIN. We start with two people who are not married to each other having sex resulting in the female getting pregnant. Well, that’s not really the start. Let’s look at the five components of my definition of the Baby Mama Syndrome, starting with “circumstances.” CIRCUMSTANCES. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Halle Berry, and Dwight Howard make unwed pregnancies look like no big deal. But celebrities often have lots of money to help solve their problems, although their wealth isn’t always enough. Most baby mamas and baby daddies are poor, can’t afford health care for themselves or their children, and have trouble putting food on the table. Many have to live with parents or grandparents. A large proportion of them didn’t intend to make a baby at all. They may be in committed relationships, just dating, or hooking up the night they meet. They may be married to someone else and make a baby while having an extramarital affair. PEOPLE. Baby mamas may be children themselves or in their forties, and baby daddies can be any age from puberty on up. A quarter of a million teen-agers became baby mamas last year , some of them for the second, third, and even fourth times. Baby mamas and baby daddies can be any race, ethnic group, or religion. A shocking array of people may be brought into the troubles of baby mamas and their baby daddies. The baby mama many times is in conflict with some other woman who is seeing the baby daddy or has a child with him. The other woman is her “romantic rival,” according to academic experts. Friends, neighbors, the older children of one of the parents, relatives, even strangers can get caught up in the problems. The police are called, a judge puts one or both parents in jail or on probation, court staff and child support enforcement personnel have to deal with them, and social workers such as child protective investigators are brought in. And, obviously, there is always at least one baby. These people and the agencies they work for may be part of a particular Syndrome, but all of them are part of the Syndrome we as a society and as taxpayers suffer from. RELATIONSHIPS. One of the biggest problems in the Baby Mama Syndrome is that relationships between baby mamas and baby daddies are often fleeting and unstable, and new boyfriends and girlfriends move in and out of the homes to the detriment of the kids. Besides the intimate partner relationship between the two unmarried parents, “relationships” in the Baby Mama Syndrome include any connection any person or agency may have with the baby mama or baby daddy. Romantic rivals, friends, grandparents, strangers, hookups, neighbors, the parents’ other children, current and ex-spouses, live-in boyfriends and girlfriends, fellow workers and bosses, anyone connected in any way with either the baby mama or baby daddy can get caught up in their drama. BEHAVIORS. As time goes on I will introduce you to the wild and often bizarre behaviors of some baby mamas and baby daddies and the others brought into the drama. One woman stalking another is commonplace, especially by phone or on social media like Facebook. Domestic violence occurs frequently. The children may be abused emotionally, physically, or sexually. Some parents have little interest in raising children; others can’t or won’t support the kids. Baby mamas account for 85% of abortions each year in this country. Some baby mamas or baby daddies drink excessively or abuse drugs, and their behavior can lead to abuse, abandonment, or neglect of their children. NEGATIVE EFFECTS. If you’ve read this far, you get the idea. I have written and will write many thousands of words spelling out in detail the negative effects of the Baby Mama Syndrome. Those effects are the unfortunate fallout from a culture that no longer values marriage as a necessary step before making babies, and of several years in which 40% of all babies born in this country have had mothers who were not married and probably didn’t want the babies in the first place. http://www.judgedoyel.com/domestic-violence/the-baby-mama-syndrome-2/ |
The truth is that the current fuel price has adverse consequences on the socio-economic life of the nation. It has already widened the distance between the government and the people and created distrust between the people and the government. The timing is wrong and besides, the increment would definitely worsen the hardship Nigerians are currently experiencing. |

hmuhammad:The major political parties in naija are the PDP and the APC. Now that PDP are at war with themselves. Just wondering, how do groups with shared ideology and long history end up at each other’s throats? Why would professional politicians with long careers in a political establishment with long and not too impressive history suddenly decide to engage in open verbal warfare against their supposed colleagues, especially with so much at stake? The acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) has threatened to set the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) against a former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, over allegations of looting over N500 million belonging to the PDP. Sherri made this threat in reactions to earlier concerns raised by concerned stakeholders of the party wherein Sherrif was referred to as a ‘hoodlum’.. Sen. Sheriff, speaking through his media aide, Inuwa Bwala, said most of those who spoke have questions over their heads and vowed to tackle them. Bwala, who spoke at the PDP secretariat, said Sheriff would not hesitate to invite the EFCC to investigate Prof Jerry Gana, for allegedly receiving N500 million from Sky Bank in the name of the PDP. “I know, as a fact, that Jerry Gana had written to the national chairman to allow him nominate some people into certain committees, or allow him perform certain functions for the party. Whether these requests were granted or not is immaterial. But, that is perhaps, one of the reasons that he has taken the position against anything this man (Sheriff) does. “The chairman has been running away from receiving the report of the PDP finance committee, because it is on record that the same Jerry Gana, on behalf of the party, without using the machinery of the party, collected the sum of N500 million from Skye Bank, over which the PDP was dragged to court and which it is being compelled to pay,” he said. Besides playing active role that led to the defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Bwala alleged that Gana and his cohorts were aggrieved because their personal interests were not guaranteed by the current leadership of the party. Reacting to Professor Tunde Adeniran’s remarks, Bwala said, “When hoodlums come to power and have a direction, vagabonds should keep quite. http://saharareportersrescue.com/2016/05/13/i-will-set-efcc-against-you-sheriff-threatens-jerry-gana/

Lekan Shonde who has been in police detention since he surrendered himself to the police, is now on hunger strike. He has refused to eat since arriving at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) at Panti, Yaba, Lagos on Monday. Shonde was alleged to have beaten his wife, Ronke, to death last Thursday at their Egbeda, Lagos home. He has denied the allegation but accused his wife of mocking him with her adulterous affair. Police detectives searched his home on Wednesday as investigation hots up onto the case… It was gathered that the team of detectives who took him home included forensic experts. According to The Nation, autopsy has been conducted on his late wife at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital. The result of autopsy will be ready in two days. Meanwhile, the deceased’s alleged lover who is a manager in the company where she worked, has remained silent despite being accused by Shonde of wrecking his home. Sources said the admitted that Shonde sent him messages to leave his wife, but he’s not ready to talk yet. Shonde said that he quarrelled with his wife after he overheard her conversation with her lover after she came back from a 5-day to Abuja with him. Police sources said they are looking at all possibilities that would have led to the wife’s death and once they are done with investigatuons, they will make their findings public for all Nigerians to see. https://nigeriacamera.net/suspected-wife-killer-lekan-shonde-goes-hunger-strike/

davidsgal:True that. Now you are sounding very emotional. Pride will halt a person’s ability to grow. Not a good thing. Thank God for showing you how pride can destroy relationship(s). |
Pride can destroy a marriage very fast. If a husband or a wife is full of pride they will have a difficult time apologizing. Being married is challenging. When two people live together day in and day out, there will be times that they hurt each other, annoy each other, they will not always meet each others expectations… and the list can continue. My point is that being able to say “I’m sorry” whether one is wrong or right is necessary for a marriage to thrive. A prideful person is recognizable by their behavior. Pride is manifested in many ways. A prideful person convinces themselves that they are always right. This makes it very difficult for them to admit when they are wrong, it makes it difficult for them to admit that they sin, and it makes it very difficult for them to apologize. A prideful person believes they are self sufficient so they do not depend on God, their spouse, or anyone else. They have a “know-it-all” attitude and are conceited, exaggerating their importance by esteeming themselves above others. They criticize others, yet when criticized they become very defensive. They have a difficult time submitting to others and they are stubborn! A prideful person may only struggle with one of those things or all of them, the critical thing is to understand how to define pride. Then we need to evaluate ourselves and see if we hav pride in our hearts. God detests pride because it keeps people away from Him. A prideful person does not acknowledge their sin or their dependence for God so they keep their distance. In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. – Psalm 10:4 God warns us in Proverbs that pride will bring upon destruction. Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. – Proverbs 16:18 We need to be very careful that we do not allow destruction into our marriage through the existence of pride. Pride will corrode our relationships and destroy the intimacy God designed us to experience in marriage. The best way to extinguish pride is to practice Humility. |

Perhaps what the minister actually wanted to say was N14,000 monthly. That's N400/N500 daily. Slip of tongue bear with him please. Remember in all Nigerian secondary schools. The average 3 square meals is N300 daily. Lol. And to think that NGN18,000 is the minimum wage. Smh |

An Indian woman and her husband who are both in their 70s have celebrated the birth of a baby boy following IVF treatment, their first successful pregnancy in 46 years of marriage. Daljinder Kaur gave birth last month after two years of treatment using donor eggs at a fertility clinic in the northern state of Haryana. Though certainly one of the oldest mothers to give birth, her exact age was unclear. She has said she is about 70 but does not have a birth certificate, which is not uncommon in India . Anurag Bishnoi, embryologist and owner of the National Fertility and Test Tube Baby centre in Hisar, told the Guardian he believed she could be 72. “She has said she is five to seven years younger than her husband, and his birth certificate shows he was born on 12/04/1937,” he said. Kaur said she and her husband, Mohinder Singh Gill, a farmer, had almost lost hope of having their own child and had faced ridicule in a country where infertility is sometimes seen as a curse from God. “God heard our prayers. My life feels complete now,” she told Agence France-Presse from the northern city of Amritsar. “I am looking after the baby all by myself. I feel so full of energy. My husband is also very caring and helps me as much as he can.” Their son, born “healthy and hearty” and weighing 4.4lb (2kg), has been named Arman. Kaur said: “When we saw the [IVF] advert, we thought we should also give it a try as I badly wanted to have a baby of my own.” Bishnoi, who set up the clinic after gaining a master’s in clinical embryology at the University of Leeds, has carried out successful IVF on several geriatric couples. In 2008 one of his patients, Rajo Devi Lohan, became a first- time mother at 70 when she gave birth to a baby girl . Another woman became the mother of triplets at 66. He said Kaur and Gill had suffered several setbacks in their quest for parenthood and had previously been unable to afford the treatment. After trying unsuccessfully to conceive, they adopted a boy in the 1980s, but he went to study in the US and never returned. “They also had some family problems. A person who is infertile is not given a piece of land or any property by his father,” said Bishnoi, explaining that Gill had to fight his father in the courts. “He won, and then he got this piece of land and he got the money for the treatment.” Bishnoi said he was initially reluctant to perform the procedure due to Kaur’s age and the fact she looked frail. A series of medical tests, including stringent cardio checks, showed she was fit and healthy, and the risk to her health of becoming pregnant was no higher than if she had been middle-aged, he said. “They were donor eggs. She had two attempts and then a gap of six months. And then on the third attempt, it was successful. “For them it is a time of great happiness. Especially because her brother, also, didn’t have any children. They were two families, and both didn’t have children. In Indian law they don’t allow adoption after 45 years of age.” He said he recognised that some people may consider IVF in older women unethical. “My point is if you put a restriction [on receiving IVF treatment] of 45 or 50 years, you will have to put a restriction on the males also. If they are talking about ethics, the [age] should be the same for both.” As to how the couple would cope, he said: “They have relatives who are ready to help take care of the baby. And you can make anyone a guardian.” Gill told AFP he was unfazed by their age. “People say, what will happen to the child once we die. But I have full faith in God. God is omnipotent and omnipresent, he will take care of everything.” http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/may/10/indian-woman-in-her-70s-gives-birth-to-healthy-baby-boy

Due to diminishing patronage as a result of the nation’s dwindling economy which led to financial slup and low spending by Nigerians, prostitutes of the sex market in Paradise City, Calabar, the Cross Rivers State capital, has been forced to slash their charges to an all-time low of N400 per insertion and N1,500 – N2,000 per night for home service. A commercial s*x worker from one of the hot red light zones in the city, Madam Becky, who spoke in Pidgin English, told Niger Delta Voice that since February, the girls have been complaining of ‘bad market.’ “Why you dey ask me all this kind JAMB question sef, u sure say u no be police? Na because you buy me drinks, wetin I fit tell be say Buhari government no favour us at all, if na before, u no go see girl plenty like that for here, except say Ekelebe people dey disturb. We dey settle them well well, but since February, the business don bad well well,” she lamented. At some of the brothels and spots in Calabar South visited by a reporter, the story was the same. A street walker, Princess, said: “I finished My WAEC before I joined this runs oo, my father died that same year and my mother is not too strong to take care of all of us. “My father’s people accused our mother of our father’s death, so life has indeed being difficult. I actually came to Calabar in November 2015. I am from Orlu in Imo state but I started this business in Owerri before I moved to a joint in Obiagu in Enugu. Then for a change of environment, I decided to come to Calabar, last year, because I heard that there is usually a boom during the Calabar Carnival and I witnessed it, but things started changing around February,” she said. According to her: “We used to collect a minimum of N500 naira for a round of sex but it started going down after that Valentine celebration. My customers in a day before used to be between 20–35 when business was good, but as I am talking to you, my highest in a day is no longer up to 18 or 20 when there is a boom. “Upon say I be slim-fit, the only time we have business now is when they pay salaries, during festivities and public holidays,” she asserted. At a spot on Lugard Street, one of the call girls accosted areporter, saying, “No be N500 again oo, Buhari don make us bring down the price, port one and get one free. If you want home service, just tell me na only 2k I go collect but you go buy be drink and suya ooo with Indomie, but if you want sharp sharp, na N500 I go collect for one round ooo,” she added. According to her, “We just dey manage to survive, wetin man pikin go do, people no dey patronize us like before again, de only hope wey we get some time na some of our regular customers and during some weekends and holidays, but we nor get choice than to reduce wetin we dey charge before,” she asserted. http://nigeriana.org/news/metro-news/dwindling-economy-calabar-pr0stitutes-now-charge-n400-per-insertion-n1500-per-night/?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook

pacino26:Another regulatory loophole that plague Nigeria’s upstream sector is in the area of workforce retention. Qualified and experienced Nigerians ,that is, the petroleum, mechanical, electrical engineers and others in related fields are either practicing in the diaspora, or are in the country working in banks, communication firms, are privately employed or struggling to make ends meet. Not many are employed in the oil and gas sector within the country. It is a well known fact that foreign companies operating in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector are daily flouting the local content agreement as far as worker recruitment is concerned. Expatriate welders, crane operators, instrument technicians, safety engineers, project managers, environmental advisors and other lower, middle and senior level workforce for which Nigerian equivalents abound fill thestaff registers of Shell, Chevron, etc . In the faceof d failure of existing legislation to address this very important issue, how does the Ministry of Petroleum intend to correct dis anomaly and ensure that the privatization of Nigeria’s refineries truly benefit Nigerians? |
talk2alabama:We are on the same page bro. |
cornoil:But don't you think that if Nigerians own majority shares in the refineries, regulatory issues could be more easily dealt with under a citizen watch arrangement, than when a government agency is burdened solely with this responsibility. In addition, despite its aversion to organized labor force, government must encourage unionism in the private refineries as they will serve as watchdogs for reporting of factual situations in these firms. An ombudsman, similar to the NCC might also be necessary for the privatized refineries. |
talk2alabama:Yeah. I think it's a welcome development. The present administration has taken the decision to privatize the refineries. The first question this begs is, “is privatization the answer?” Perhaps yes, perhaps no. The debate surrounding privatization of public enterprises is a popular and on-going concern of scholars, public administrators and concerned citizens the world over. In the past, under some well-meaning regimes, unsuccessful attempts were made to revive the refineries. For the most part however, the refineries have been maintained as grand repositories of corruption for any government in power, in connivance with willing citizens and fraudulent foreigners. |
The federal government may have perfected plans to privatise the nation’s refineries within the next one year, according to revelations by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu. According to Kachikwu, the federal government was looking at privatising its refineries within 12 months, disclosing that Agip and Chevron have already indicated interest in purchasing two of the refineries. The minister, who doubles as the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), says his team is working with oil majors on improving the state-run refineries in Nigeria. Kachikwu was quoted by Reuters as saying that the federal government wanted to privatise the refineries within 12 months following the much-needed maintenance work. “We have gotten commitments from some of the majors. Agip has indicated interest to work with us on Port Harcourt, Chevron on Warri. We are talking to Total on Kaduna,” Kachikwu said. He added that even if the refineries in question performed to their optimum capacity, their production would still not meet local demand for petrol. He said the petroleum resources ministry was striving to utilise other sources of refining petrol while also depending on the coming on board of private refineries like the Dangote refinery. He noted that the non-performance of the refineries was due to a number of factors, including fraud and lack of holistic maintenance. As a result of the long period of non-maintenance, a lot of components were ineffective. However, the minister had earlier stated that the refineries would not disposed off, but said government would seek investors to co-locate new refineries near the existing ones which presently perform abysmally lower than their installed capacities. ruling out a possible sale of the nation’s refineries, Kachikwu who was speaking during an official tour of the Okrika Jetty and the Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited, affirmed that “the refineries would not be sold but joint venture partners with established track records of success in refining would be invited to support the running of the refineries in order to ensure efficiency.” He noted that the phased rehabilitation of all the state owned refineries would be given an accelerated vigour with the aim of reducing petroleum products importation into the country, adding that at full capacity, all the refineries could supply 20 million litres of petrol on a daily basis. LEADERSHIP recalls that Kachikwu had assured that the corporation will provide all the necessary enablers to make the refineries operate commercially and optimally, while pointing out that though the current challenges militating against the operations of the refineries are huge, they are not insurmountable. He stated that in view of the nation’s low refining capacity, there was need to establish more refineries in the country, adding that he plans to ensure the building of new refineries near the existing plants. “I am pushing to build new refineries next to our existing plants in order to boost the nation’s refining capacity for the common good” he stated. He explained that the new refineries will be developed by private investors and that NNPC’s role will be just to provide them with space close to the existing refineries to enable them share key facilities such as pipelines and storage facilities. Kachikwu who praised the vision and foresight of past Nigerian leaders for establishing the refineries had then challenged the present generation to sustain the vision, adding that all hands must be on deck to salvage the situation. Oando Bridges Gas Supply To North, Kicks Off LNG Project In Kogi Oando Gas & Power Limited (OGP) has commenced development of a mini Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility through its Transit Gas Nigeria Limited (“TGNL”) subsidiary in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. The pioneering 20 mmscf/day liquefaction plant is primarily directed towards fulfilling the gas supply requirement for captive power plants, embedded generation, and industrial clusters in the Northern region, as well as stranded customers in the South. Off-takers, particularly, power plants and industrial customers who currently utilise liquid fuels such as diesel and LPFO, will be able to lower energy costs by up to 40%, while significantly decreasing carbon emissions. Commenting on the initiative, OGP CEO, Mr. Bolaji Osunsanya said, “The establishment of the Ajaokuta mini LNG project is in firm alignment with our mid-to-long term gas conversion strategy. This venture further emphasises our push to broaden our asset portfolio and strengthen our market play within the gas sector; and by providing the gas advantage, we will help spur the development of self-sustaining industrial clusters to bolster the country’s socio-economic growth. LNG is a viable provisional solution and an industry game-changer for the development of gas markets ahead of the actualisation of a far-reaching nationwide gas pipeline network as stipulated by the Nigerian Gas Master Plan.” With an unlimited supply radius across the country, the Ajaokuta mini-LNG project will provide the solution to the perennial power challenges suffered in certain regions by supplying gas to key foundation off-takers including strategic power plants and commercial concerns. OGP provides gas and power solutions to over 170 industrial and commercial customers nationwide ensuring cost-savings across board, powering economic development, and engendering environmental awareness. The company commissioned its expanding Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) program in 2013, and is currently spearheading several long term projects including a 400km South-West to North-West gas pipeline and a Central Processing Facility (CPF) which will serve as the primary gas gathering and processing hub in the Niger Delta. Commenting further on the company’s strategic direction, Osunsanya said, “We are focused on aggressively developing Nigeria’s gas infrastructure and the Midstream sector at large as evidenced by the ongoing expansion efforts of our various assets. We are poised to conclude the 10km Ijora to Marina expansion of our Greater Lagos pipeline to increase our supply capacity and market, while providing a cheaper power solution for industries and commercial enterprises along the axis. In cooperation with the Rivers State Government, we have also begun the 8km build out of the Central Horizon Gas Company pipeline franchise within the Trans-Amadi area which will have a socio-economic multiplier effect via the availability of power generated, job creation, and the growth of businesses.” Though Nigeria boasts proven natural gas reserves of 187 trillion cubic feet (TCF), the 8th largest in the world and the largest in Africa, the gas industry has failed to realise its true potential due to a number of challenges including the lack of a suitable long-term fiscal and regulatory framework, insufficient infrastructure, sabotage in the Niger Delta, and slow market consolidation. Analysts have continually touted gas as a means of diversifying Nigerian revenues from the usual reliance on oil. “Gas must occur as a market-driven development, and Nigeria is not an exception. With oil, there is a ready global market existing for the product. However in gas, you start with an end market and then you develop the gas infrastructure, including extraction, processing facilities, pipelines and connecting infrastructure,” said Osunsanya. Oando’s holistic gas integration strategy includes methods of transmission and distribution through virtual pipeline solutions such as LNG and CNG to fulfill market requirements while the gestation period for the implementation of the Nigerian Gas Master Plan elapses. The multi-billion Naira Ajaokuta LNG facility will commence operations in Q2 2017. Militancy Forces Shell To Evacuate Workers From Bonga Fields Shell workers at Nigeria’s Bonga oil field in the southern Niger Delta are being evacuated following a militant threat, a senior labour union official said on Monday. “We are aware of the development and the evacuation is being done in categories of workers and cadres,” Cogent Ojobor, chairman of the Warri branch of the Nupeng oil labour union, said. “My members are yet to be evacuated”, reports Reuters. He gave no numbers. Shell said earlier on Monday that oil output was continuing at its oil fields in Nigeria despite local media reports of a militant attack near its Bonga facilities. “Our operations at Bonga are continuing,” a spokesman for Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) said in a statement. It said it would continue to monitor the security situation in its operating areas and take all possible steps to ensure the safety of staff and contractors. Last week, militants attacked a Chevron platform in the Delta where tensions have been building up since authorities issued an arrest warrant in January for a former militant leader on corruption charges. President Muhammadu Buhari has said there would be a crack down on “vandals and saboteurs” in the Delta region, which produces most of the country’s oil. A group known as the Niger Delta Avengers claimed responsibility for the Chevron attack. The same group has said it carried out an attack on a Shell oil pipeline in February which shut down the 250,000 barrel-a-day Forcados export terminal. Residents in the Delta have been demanding a greater share of oil revenues. Crude oil sales account for around 70 per cent of national income in Nigeria but there has not been much development in the poor Delta region. Buhari has extended a multi-million dollar amnesty signed with militants in 2009 but upset them by ending generous pipeline protection contracts. The militancy is a further challenge for a government faced with an insurgency by the Islamist militant Boko Haram group in the northeast and violent clashes between armed nomadic herdsmen and locals over land use in various parts of the country. Oil Prices To Rise In 2016 As Equilibrium Is Attained By Year-End Oil markets are looking to the second half of 2016 for demand and supply to balance. A more meaningful adjustment to the demand/supply dynamic is likely to come about after oil consumption peaks during the third and fourth quarters of the year and when Non-Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) production, especially US light tight oil production (shale), records further declines in output, NBK’s update on oil market notes. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the market should reach equilibrium in 3Q16. The agency also estimates that by 4Q16, non-Opec supply will have contracted by around 800,000 barrels per day (b/d). US shale production is expected to account for much of the fall, NBK analysts said. US crude production, which fell by one per cent in 2015, was already down three per cent, or 280,000 b/d, at 8.9 mb/d by 22 April of this year, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) noted. The increase in production efficiency that has come about despite sizable falls in drilling activity and capital spending by oil firms looks to be finally tapering off. Rising Iranian output offsets losses in Nigeria to keep Opec production steady in March and OPEC and Russia fail to sign off on a production freeze in Doha. Overall, Opec production held steady at 32.2 mb/d for the second consecutive month in March, according to OPEC secondary source data. Output declines in Nigeria and Libya due to supply disruptions and in the UAE as a result of maintenance were broadly offset by output gains in Iran and Iraq. Production in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait was unchanged. Unshackled by sanctions, Iranian production has been increasing at the rate of about 135,000 b/d a month in 2016. Output reached 3.3 mb/d in March, an impressive rise of 405,000 b/d year-to-date. This is still short of the 500,000 b/d that Iranian officials boasted could be brought online immediately post-sanctions. Nevertheless, Iran is only a few months away from reaching its pre-sanctions production capacity level of 3.6 mb/d. Its target of 4.0 mb/d, however, is unlikely to be attained without significant investment in view of the weakened state of the country’s oil infrastructure. Iran’s refusal to countenance capping production before reaching its target of 4.0 mb/d proved decisive in the Doha negotiations. Attention now shifts to OPEC’s biannual meeting in June, when members will likely resume their discussion of production ceilings. April saw oil markets shrug off the failed OPEC/Russia output freeze accord and propel prices to their biggest monthly gain since 2009. According to NBK analysts, April may come to be known as the month in which oil market sentiment turned perceptibly bullish. Shrugging off the failure of OPEC and Russia to agree on a production freeze, oil prices posted their largest monthly gain in seven years in April. By the end of the month, Brent crude, the international benchmark, had surged by almost 22 per cent to close at $48.1 per barrel (bbl)—its highest level since November 2015. Similarly, West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the US crude marker, ended the month 20 percent higher at $45.9/bbl. Since hitting 13-year lows in mid-January, oil prices have rallied by a remarkable 72 per cent on the back of several bullish signals including the production freeze talks, supply outages among OPEC members, falling US shale production and a depreciating US dollar. Rather than dwell on the inability of OPEC and Russia to agree on oil output cuts at the 17 April meeting in Doha, markets took their cues from the supply disruptions that have come thick and fast since February. Among the largest oil producers to witness falls in output were Iraq, Nigeria, Ghana and Kuwait. http://leadership.ng/news/525095/kachikwu-fg-privatise-refineries-12-months

#1 Men Experience Erections All Day, Everyday Every man will experience an erection many times in their lives. Most likely, numerous times a day. But not many will know how and why this feeling scientifically comes about. Since before the age of puberty, boys have been exploring their bodies, figuring out what arouses them. Here is the breakdown of boners, in a nutshell #2 How A Simple Thought Becomes An Erection Erections begin in your brain, not your pants. Once the mind is stimulated from the senses, blood rushes to the penis. Blood flows in and veins close up, trapping the blood, causing the member to expand, and become erect. Erections can last as short as a minute or as long as an hour. #3 They Can Happen Anywhere And Anytime For Any Reason. Erections can occur for almost any reason, but the most common, is sexual arousal. During puberty, they tend to happen out of the blue, even during sleep. This can lead to Nocturnal Emission, more commonly known as a "wet dream". #4 Erections Also Reflexive Although erections happen because of triggering from the brain, they can also be reflexive. If someone touches your penis, you can be aroused before your brain even notices #5 How Do I Make It Stop? Erections are pretty hard to prevent. But if they do occur and you want to make it stop, your best bet is to think of something other than what's going on down there. If you're in public, you may have no hope. Leave right away! #6 What If I Can't Get An Erection? For as easy as it is to get an erection, it can also be just as difficult. Stress, fatigue, and distractions, are just a few possible reasons you may not be able to be aroused. Another possibility for not being able to get an erection is Erectile Dysfunction. #7 Treating Erectile Dysfunction. Erectile Dysfunction (ED) occurs when a man cannot keep an erection long enough to have sexual intercourse. It usually happens in older men, but can happen to anyone because of chronic depression, stress, anxiety, and alcohol. If you think you have ED, see a doctor right away and they can prescribe you a medication to treat it, such as Viagra. http://likes.com/g/19942602?v=p8rMiNQB9e0XrCH2s15j1PI51AZrV7cRd4E1khj&page=7

Residents of Maiduguri, Borno capital and environs on Saturday were seen jubilating following the first rainfall they witnessed in 2016. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent, who went round parts of Maiduguri town reports that the rains started around 4:30 a.m. and lasted for about one hour. Some of the residents, who spoke to NAN, said that they were delighted that the rains had come early this year as against the previous years. According to them, the early rains will reduce the excessive heat being experienced in the state. Malam Ayuba Balu, a resident, said that residents were forced to sleep in the open due to the harsh weather which had reached 42 Degrees Celsius. Balu said that the commencement of the rains would reduce the huge money being spent by residents to buy ice blocks, cold drinks and water to quench their thirsts. Malam Galtumari Bulama, a farmer in Maiduguri metropolis, who described the rainfall as “a signed of blessing”, said he would soon mobilise to his farmland. “I have being praying for the rains to commence, I can now go back to farm with the hope of making a bomber harvest,” Bulama said. The Benin Traditional Council, has warned that all male citizens of Benin Kingdom, both at home and in diaspora, who fail to clean-shave the hair on their heads, in obedience to Benin traditional burial rite of the transited Monarch of the Kingdom, will face the wrath of the ancestors. The Council gave the warning on Wednesday in Benin while announcing to journalists that the burial rites for the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolopkolo, Oba Erediauwa, who recently joined his ancestors, would soon commence. The Prime Minister and Iyase of Benin Kingdom, Chief Sam Igbe, who the Council, said while no one would be forced to comply with the directive, all male citizens of the Kingdom are expected to respect the custom and tradition of Benin Kingdom as they are expected to clean shave their heads with effect from 29th April, 2016. “All our friends and well-wishers, including all those who live with us and work for their livelihood within our kingdom, may wish to join us in this action,” he said. When asked if there was any sanction against those who fail to shave their hair, the Esogban of Benin, Chief David Edebiri said for true Benins, the sanction is between them and their ancestors. Igbe said further that all funeral rites would be prohibited in Benin Kingdom from the date the funeral rites of the Monarch is announced, till the end of all ceremonies. He therefore urged all those who have funeral ceremonies to perform to do so before the Oba’s burial rites are announced.
