peace2mankind:NO! Since the rules say you must have maintenance money anyway, just leave your Uncle's address as temporary address but you don't need to supply any document. I hope you know you will still provide evidence of maintenance money even if you're staying with a family member. |
justwise:Okay, that's good to know. I often think the applicant shouldn't be affected by the rate but then their ambiguous guidance notes just makes things look different. |
justwise:Oh, okay. I didn't know that actually. What I once read was that the rate of the application date is used. I read that on page 100 of the T4 Guidance V23.0. "If an applicant uses an overseas currency, they must write the closing balance in pounds sterling on the application form. To check it is correct, you must use the exchange rate as at the date of the application to check the value of the money in pounds sterling. To check the balance, use the website at the related link: OANDA." |
countsparrow:That's a bit dicey. The ECO will use the rate of the Application date and not the date you deposited the money. You should always leave excess there to avoid problems with the rate. |
countsparrow:Type the formal letter and address it to UKVI (Abuja). |
obipyper:It depends on the airline too. Someone booked return from Lagos to UK (not London) last week (for travel from 4th to 21 Dec) with emirates for 200K. I advice you use wakanow to search your flight then book directly on the airline's website. |
temmydayz:It will be assumed that you don't have instant access to the money and therefore by UKVI policy, you shouldn't use it. However, someone once posted here that he got a visa by using the fixed deposit certificate coupled with a letter from the bank that the money is available for withdrawal any time. Try to read the previous pages where it was said and confirm the information from other sources too. |
DSSHQ:As long as the money remaining there on the 21st Nov. is equal to or greater than the amount needed (rest of tuition + maintenance), then you can print from the 18th NOV. as you are thinking. Your 28th day of count will be Dec. 16. |
gwobo:If you pay the deposit of 1.6M (half tuition), you must show you have the remaining 1.6M plus the require maintenance fund. Nothing short of that is sufficient. |
Osy294:You will have only 7 working days. While it is possible to get visa within 7 working days, you should always leave 15 working days before resumption so as to be safe. Does your school have an extended date for resumption? Contact them to have you given some 1 - 2 weeks and have them acknowledge this on your CAS note to the UKVI. This will give you rest of mind and avoidance of refusal due to late application. |
Fumike:Yes, your proof of funds will be your bank statement showing all the required money. You need to prove the required money has been in your account for at least 28 days. So, consider a date X when a transaction was made on the account (which either completes the required money or just an addition to it), and print from that date X to another date Y. The period between dates X and Y must be at least 28 days. Also, the date you print the statement must be less than 31 days from date Y. I hope it is clearer that way. |
weezyana07:They need to submit a copy of your visa page and passport data page with a personal letter from you. They will also need evidence of accommodation such as booking a hotel or letter from your landlord that they can stay with you. Don't commit any money to hotel yet though as visa is not guaranteed. Finally, they will need evidence of funds + payslip to support their whole travel expense. No specific money is required but it must be well above the travel expense and there shouldn't be any unexplainable lodgement in the 6-month statement. Refer to your school's webpage/Student Services for further advice. |
paradisewoods: Thanks so much DonOms I am really grateful. Yeah have settled down at Sunderland got an accommodation for 250 pounds per months bills inclusive. Thanks so much boss.Okay. That's good to hear. I hope you will enjoy the relatively quiet city of Sunderland. Have a great time studying. |
paradisewoods: abeg, which card is cheaper paying with online. Gtb mastercard or accessbank visa card plsHow are you settling in Sunderland? Got accommodation yet? I'm not sure about the difference between GTB and Access cards so hopefully SpikesC might be ale to help with that. Just thought to check you're quite settled. |
spikesC: They will as far as they don't get above 20kg altogether. It's a single hold luggage of 30 kG and a hand luggage of 7 kG for Emirates. EAKoteyon will have to pay for extra luggage if it's above the recommended. It should be about USD 65 per kG for Economy flight from LOS to LHR. You can use the baggage calculator to know the price: http://www.emirates.com/uk/english/plan_book/essential_information/baggages/baggage_calculator.aspx |
perfect08: Okay, Thank you. But can I alter with pen? And Who will I direct the letter to?A form you filled and submitted online... you can't alter anything on the print out. The letter can be directed to the UKVI Abuja address. The important thing is that they read it and be notified of the error. Just add the letter to your documents to be submitted. |
Olisedinma: Hello House,NO, you won't need it as long as you don't plan to leave the airport especially when it's just a few hours for your connection time. |
perfect08: I'm yet to submit. My interview is scheduled for 23rd September.Cool. Just write a formal letter pointing out the error and add it to your application. |
perfect08: My Ogas in the house, help me ooooHave you submitted your application (documents and interview)? |
soudagar06: Thank you for providing the number to Contact UK Vfs India. I have contacted them today and they told me that they haven't started of processing the application and asked me to wait as it takes 15 working days and i applied on 02/09/2014. University has given me a week extension but I wondering will the Home Office will ever work on application or they will start working at end of this and say Rejected.Honestly? There is little or nothing you nor anyone here can do. I'll tell you this: Calm down and hope (or pray if you believe in God) that all turns out fine in your favour. If you haven't heard from them by 24th Sept (16th working day), call them back. All the best. |
IntroVAT: Ok now i've gotten my visa, when can I start "touching" my maintenance funds?Well, whatever reason you need to start "touching" your money, remember that money is meant for your fees and maintenance in the UK and you WILL need it. No one will ask you in Nigeria again but if you get to the POE in the UK, you MAY be asked of your funds and if for any reason they need verification, you may need to provide a recent statement. NOTE: The most important thing is in bold. |

sunvick: Please people,I believe it should be below an equivalent of EURO10,000 else you will have to declare the amount to avoid being charged for Money Laundering. Ideally, you should avoid having too much money on you while travelling. |
paradisewoods: Please house, which is better and cheaper in buyingDue to the nature of exchange rates, that question is difficult to answer. The rate was #265 per £ last Friday (ATM) and was #270 per £ yesterday (POS) and today it was a high #274 per £ (POS). So, tell me how best to answer your question? . |
spikesC: official rate. They're all the same, just maybe a little bit differenceOkay. The last transaction I had was 265NGN for 1GBP. I hardly believed it was real. |
laoma4u: i hail all the strong men on this end of the forum. If you are looking forward to withdrawing the whole money once, then you will have to use POS at your bank i.e. you will use your card to transfer the money to your UK account using a POS transaction. I don't know the maximum withdrawal but I have withdrew £750 once, a number of times. |
spikesC: Selling 1.00000 GBP - you get 261.930 NGNIs this POS rate? |
munchfani: @DonOms WAS MEANT TO WRITE MY BRO, CAN MY ELDER BRO BE MY SPONSOR? COS ITS KINDA LATE NOW TO MOVE THE MONEY INTO MY ACCOUNTAs you have also just been told by others, your money can only be in your account or either of your parent's account. However, if someone is your LEGAL GUARDIAN with proper documentation, then they can sponsor you. YOUR BROTHER CANNOT SPONSOR YOU. |
royal34: Guys, God came through for me! ha my visa has been issued. Godbless you lot for your help. Those waiting for theirs please have hope, believe that it would be issued. I cant believe this cos i made a lot of terrible mistakes on my form. i also put insufficient money in my dad's acc heck it was d last minute i calculated and saw dat i was using a wrong figure so i had to use a deposit account statement to make up for it. Kimoni: Dear all, I submitted my application on the 27th of September at Teleperformance, got an email from Sheffield on Saturday that it's been processed, received tele's mail this morning that a decision has been made, so I went there at mid day to collect. And yes, after about 15 mins on the queue, got my visa. Prayer works! God knows I couldn't afford any more delay.Congratulations |
medman007: Pls. Whats d url to the thread ?https://www.nairaland.com/863688/nigerian-students-uk-how-survive/86 |
munchfani: thanks a lot mate.. my uncle is my sponsor and I haven't got any dough in my nameSo, are you saying your fees and maintenance money are held in your uncle's name? If that is the case, you have to move the money into your own account as your uncle cannot be your legal sponsor. |
