TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by DonOms(m):
alizenbohr: Ok. I eventually booked for Tier 4 on 24th September.

But if my visa is ready on time, am I permitted to travel before my stated planned date of travel?
Of course you can travel on a different day you picked as "expected date of travel" while filing your application. Whichever date you choose must however be within 30 days to your resumption date.

munchfani: hello guys will be staying with my uncle in London, do I need to pay accommodation fees to the university before visa will be issued to me?
I don't want to make mistakes, this will be my second time of applying.
help out fellas
No, you don't have to pay the school. However, you have to show all maintenance money required from you (depending on school location for at least 9 months) so as to get your full points to get the visa.

Allenbaba: Erm, please o my ogas *prostrates* I would like to go to some other European countries while I'm in the UK. I understand I need a shengen visa. Abeg how I go do that one?
Decide which country you want to go to (first entry) and go online to know what the visa application involves and what documents are needed. Then apply!

PS: Preferably, ask your question on the other UK students thread.

paradisewoods: My boss DonOms yeah its dubai sir, as for the accommodation I planned booking and hotel and searching for myself. The ones i am seeing online seems fraudulent, one even asked me to credit his nigerian account . Na so I see am o
It's better you don't pay anything to any landlord. It is risky. If you get to Sunderland and you need any help, you can send me a PM. As for the Dubai transit, just make sure you remain in the terminal areas that concern your flight (arrival and depature). If you have questions, ask any airport official. Just relax there and try to get busy, 6 hrs will pass away in no time.

ogompaul: they have given me till the second week of October. I will b getting my CAS by Thursday.
Hmm... I f you do get CAS on Thursday, you will have 15 working days till the end of 2nd week. Ideally, an appointment scheduled in Abuja or Ikeja would have been perfect but with this news of both VFS VACs closing down and Teleperformance taking over, I honestly can't say what your chances are.

Just keep hope alive till Thursday and lets see what happens. Also, can't you tell your school to speed up the CAS processing as there is no much time?

alizenbohr: Justwise et al

Please this is urgent,
I tried booking an appointment for the interview at Ikeja, lagos and realized that the nearest available date for PBS Tier 4 Appointment is 24th September, while that for Standard appointment is tomorrow 16th September.

Is it possible to book for a standard appointment even though I'm applying for a Tier 4 visa?
NO you cannot. Standard appointments do not require a Tier4 interview so you will waste your time and money if you book it. Always Book Tier4 Appointment!

paradisewoods: Haa JW, so i ll be inside the airport for 6hrs 30mins
Excursion at the airport it is. Which country is the airport in? If it's Dubai, you should be able to get the visa at the airport I believe. By the way, have you sorted out the accommodation thing? You didn't mention again.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by DonOms(m):
EAkoteyon: house, I applied 18th august and have visited Teleperformance on tuesday nd Friday but still story. Meanwhile, I received mail from ukvi on 8th responding to my email -saying decision was made on 29/08 and they will send my passport and doc in few days. On 9th I received email from visa session Sheffield responding to my email likewise- that my application was currently under consideration by a case worker that as soon as decision is made they will send my passport and doc. since then I have been sending email but no response from them. What do u think is d situation? Meanwhile, it is my second application since initial was refused on July 25.
The UKVI mail takes precedence over others. However, it takes a while for the package to get to your VAC and therefore, to you. Although I think it's taking too long since you're told a decision was reached on the 29th of August. You're sure to get a mail from Teleperformance this week though. If nothing happens by Tuesday, call UKVI and then call Teleperformance too.

HudsonBanks: Yesso my Don I dey chop data like crase grin I'll probably try to see if I can use a paid VPN service to cloak my data content and do all my usual data grabbing with Uni broadband else I go with a mobile data alternative. My issue with giffgaff, Lyca & their likes is that T-mo users calling me on one of those networks I've mentioned will be charged outside their usual UK minutes meaning say people go dey think twice before calling me, and almost all my relatives in the UK are on T-mo so you see am.
VPN service will sure help and I hope your school doesn't notice...lol. I never knew about the T-mobile users having to pay more to call giffgaff numbers and lyca. Anyway, the 3 option is quite okay too, sine the unlimited internet is the priority.

hsim247: Guys, please advise me.
I'm to resume for me masters in the UK soon and would need to get a laptop and a smart phone. Better to buy them there or here?
Personally, I'd say buy both in Nigeria. As long as you're buying a genuine product, I believe the price is relatively cheaper in Nigeria than UK for the same product.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by DonOms(m): 11:59pm On Sep 13, 2014
Jaralier: From what I know, my university doesn't allow January resumption and I can't afford to lose another year because the reason I'm applying for a visa now is because I took the year 2013/2014 off. Taking this past session off meant that my existing visa was suspended and so I had to reapply again and so I cannot afford to lose another year (making it two years off my degree). That's why I really need help right now
I am sorry to hear about your refusal. As it stands now, all you need to do is re-apply. Since your school doesn't have January admission and you don't want to wait for next year, you may have to seek admission into a school with January entry and if you get admission within the next 2 week, apply for visa in a months time.
Meanwhile, you'll have your dad move the money into your personal account(or his) and count a fresh 28 days. Also, if you have paid money to your current school, let them know your situation and request for a refund.

kingsilly: Huh just dat.... Me averaging 25gb per month...(my movies nd tv series are all 1080p)...maybe I'll just buy a seperate unlimited broadband sha.cuz I'm not living inside school
lol. All ye internet data eaters. The accommodation you get might have internet in it. You'll just join other tenants to contribute the money to pay the bills. If it's not there, then you may plan getting one. You'll need it.
TravelRe: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by DonOms(m): 11:41pm On Sep 13, 2014
HudsonBanks: Yea I know about unlimited broadband in Uni but on reading the IT policy for broadband usage of my school there's a clause where downlaoding copyrighted material(movies, music, software e.g) & peer to peer downloads(torrents and all) are prohibited and can result in suspension & eventual ban from the service. That's why I want my own data for such downloads cos I consume a lot of data per month(my current usage stands at a minimum of 15gb/month).

I no fit for their wahala.
You seem to consume a lot of internet then. Well, one this is sure: Plan Yourself Well so you don't spend extra. Here in the UK, those little extras mean a lot.
The school internet is always very good and okay. You won't be banned if you attempt using torrents... it wouldn't even work and same with some internet providers like VirginMobile. If your uni accomm. is close to school, there will be wi-fi around school too so you may not really need too much internet except you're far away from school and not at home.

I think the £15 for 300minutes and unlimited data is still fine though. However, with giffgaff for the same £15, you get 500 minutes with unlimited texts and unlimited internet, and calling Nigeria is 5pence per minute (one of the cheapest)
If you call Nigeria very regularly, you'll add that rebtel cost too so you may be spending an average of £30 monthly.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, it is with great pleasure that I wish to again say that I have received my visa. My unending gratitude goes to Prof. Justwise first of all for his relentless presence on this thread. It may surprise you to know that I have always been a silent observer on this thread and have followed it for as long as I can remember. However time would fail me to list names and give reverence to everyone who made this journey as smooth a ride as possible. To DonOms, HudsonBanks *winks*, Bambamzz, tobee, paradise, dortmund, EAkoteyon,_____________, etc. (please fill your name in if I omit it, I'm human, ain't perfect) If I fail to mention your name, it doesn't mean that I don't acknowledge your priceless advices, like I stated, I'm human. To all those awaiting theirs, your next in line, don't loose faith or fret. To all those having one challenge or the other, don't loose faith, your miracle is neigh, to all those yet to apply and are reading this, stay clear off teleperformance. To Seun, thanks for creating this platform that has become a cornucopia of knowledge. To all those leaving soon, GODSPEED!

I remain my humble self, Xkobans.

mokholar: I intend getting either from the school or renting outside..

I don't know what to say if they ask me...

Spikesc please help me out
Where will you sleep on the day you arrive the UK? If it's a hotel or a known address, tell them your plan and that you'll get to rent a place thereafter. Have sufficient cash in hand and if possible, book a hotel (without deposit) so as to show your genuineness.

My liver no gre calm me down
@ first I tought I had the strength but bro the thing dey fade off
I track my visa like every 10mins
And it is states on my CAS that the latest date for joining this course is 6th October
Pls I need to know how dis tracking works is it that it can only change during working hours cos I check even dead night
You have nothing to worry about regarding late application. The status often change during the day till night but I doubt it does after midnight.
Try to relax and get your mind off it. Stop tracking every 10 mins. It's just 4 working days. Start tracking on the 9th working day. Remain positive smiley

Ganiyat95: Hello, must i fill the assessment form and vaf9 form? or just one of them?
VAF9 is the same thing as the Online Application please. The paper VAF9 is only used in some few countries and Nigeria is not included. You Must fill and Submit an Online Visa Application Form (VAF).

As for the Appendix 8, a few people have mentioned their VACs not asking while some say their VAC asked. So in my own opinion, to save money, time and avoid unsettledness, FILL one and go with it to tour VAC.

bidibudi: @ donoms pls how about my own case I requested for an extension from my school they told me dey can't give to me an extention letter rather dey told me that I have till October 1st for late resumption and I would pay 40 quid for late enrollment
I already had my interview and ve submitted my application on the 26th August
And school resumes 8th of sept for induction
Class resumes 15th sept
More often than not, it's not the letter you need but a note in your CAS. What you should have asked is if it is pointed out in your CAS.
You have 13 working days before the 15th Sept., so that is still fine. Your chances of denial due to late submission is very slim. Just remain calm and expect your visa. Where did you apply?

myfuture: Please people, the address of the first University I chose for my programme is written on my TB Screening medical certificate as my address in the UK but now I have chosen another school and I will enter the address of this university on my visa application form as my address in the UK.Will this affect my visa application?
I doubt that will affect your application. But to feel safer, you might choose to point it out in your application.

Itstyme: Finished 9years ago and have been working ever since up till date. Submitted all employment history letters and certificate to support my claim.
Got admission with Brunel Uni.
Okay.
Just like Oga Justwise said, I sincerely doubt your reason of refusal was all there is to it. I am placing a bet on the gap of 9 years causing the initial "hole" that made them call for a 2nd interview.

Have you been working in either IT/computing for the 9-year period?
Also, when is your latest course start date and have you sent your refusal letter to your School's Admission Office?

Update: I have just read your replies to others who comments on your post. Tour school will prefer AR because they don't like it when their prospective students get denied visa. Make sure that your school contacts UKVI in support of your AR as it may make it faster. I hope it works out perfectly.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by DonOms(m): 3:06pm On Sep 01, 2014
Itstyme: I have no time for admin review as classes starts on the 29th Sept. I am honestly depressed and I have no distinct idea on what to really do. Admin review will take long hence am looking at replying. @Justwise, SpikeC, DonOms, please I need your expertise on this.
I am very sorry about the denial.
You literally have no shot with an AR and besides there is no time for it if you want to re-apply.

You were called for a second interview probably because the ECO spotted some "holes" in your application so you ought to have made the best of it. When did you finish your OND and what UK Uni did you get your admission in?

If you can defer your admission and wait till the next admission period (hopefully your school has January admission), then try it. But if not, you can re-apply since you still have 19 working days (depending on when you get your new CAS). Is there a latest course start date?

Chaze85: Hello house,i recieved an approval email last monday, till now my tracking is processed passport is in transit,do u think my passport will be available tomorow monday?
Definitely likely, it should be there since it's 5 working days now. However, if you can afford the patience and time, you may wait for the tracking status to change before travelling, else, go and pick your passport with faith.

Bambamzzzz: My oga pls about the proof of accomodation,is it okay if i send my tenancy agreement to her? thats if i rent a 1 bedroom flat from an agent and do i have to put her name on the tenancy agreement or just tenancy agreement to show that i have a house that i can accomodate her in uk?.
Secondly pls what kind of proof of address does the dependent need bcuz we stay together in lagos and we have received couple of uk visa together before. pls respond sir
Yes your tenancy agreement is fine but it has to show that she can live with you. Additionally, you can have the landlord write a letter that you are allowed to live with a spouse under the tenancy agreement.
Any recent bill (e.g. electricity) of your Lagos house should do well. Please, try to go over the document oga Justwise sent you. ALL the information is written there. I just gave you some of the things I know should be needed.
