It seems Ife is copying Benin a lot these days.
When the ooni of Ife recieves visitors, he gives out bronze reassembling Benin bronze, he now wears an outfit worn by Edo nobles, he also flaunted the Ada and Eben swords in his recent ceremonies. What the heck is going on ? Why doesn't he give credits where they are due ? Some Yoruba are already claiming it is Benin which is copying Ife. This is how the Yoruba also copied the title Oba from Benin and later started to claim it was Benin which copied it from them. I have nothing against those copying Benin culture so long they give credits where they are due.
Unilorin is better by Far ....

Una Wahala much you this end time generation ... what about if Ife and Benin are one Big Family that migrated together from dafuq both of them come from and some settled in Ife while some settled in Benin ....
Fvck your copy copy History if it can not generate uninterrupted power supply for Nigeria nor give us Nuclear WarHeads and a sit at the permanent security table of UN.

EducationRe: What Can One Do With A Sociology Degree? by DonroxyII:
OyiboPep:
I have a friend who graduated from Sociology in one of these universities.

What sociologists do is study societies and try to see the way they change. That way they can help present conclusions that'll help a government proffer solutions to social change.

If Nigeria was a functioning place, your sister would have been guaranteed a job as organisations need them to help project for the future.
But this is Nigeria where nothing works.
Exactly, all those "Lubbish" societal norms in the north and across Nigeria , we need sociologist to help find the inherent problems in our country, communities and the basic unit of the society which is family !

Then, they proffer best possible solutions to the identified problems and submit to government for implementation or any organisation commissioning such endeavour !

They also monitor implementation and guide against societal relapse.......

it is a great course that can help reshape our society and a sociologist is needed at every unit of the society and in any human endeavour but unfortunately, we ain't ready yet !!
::::;;;;;;;::::::::::

Unless you developed yourself in other skills and crafts or pursue 2nd and 3rd degree , Sociology sits beneath the pyramid of employment opportunities in Nigeria !!

there is this pretty Igbo chic I met years back, she's so down to earth and lovely. during my days in school she was there for me we dated for like 5years but after graduation her parent started pressurizing her about marriage because her younger sis is married with kids. her pressure was much that I was just running helter skelter without direction looking for jobs. after few months that all my luck couldn't pull through, her attitude change and she started ignoring my calls, sometimes she will hang off when I called. I knew something was wrong

after few months her friends that likes me then told me she's doing her traditional marriage soon, I couldn't believe my eyes I cried that day, I feel like killing myself but I move on

I attended her white wedding, she was shocked to see me, I told her to calm down. I wish her and her husband well and I left after the join together

I refuse to go into any relationship since then. relationship is not part of my plan now but how to get a job and be on my fit financially

EducationRe: My Experience Teaching In Zaria by DonroxyII:
adekunle0000:
I was born and raised in the southern part of Nigeria; Lagos to be precised. I had my first degree in eastern Nigeria. The National Youth Service Corp program offered me my first ever opportunity to visit the North.

I served in Taraba State. A very beautiful state that I will love to visit again someday. Infact, my pleasant experience in Taraba was a principal factor in my decision to pursue my Master's degree in a Northern University. I finally settled for the Prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

To help cushion the cost of a second degree, I undertook the job of a teacher in one of the many "secular" secondary schools (Name withheld) in Zaira. I was assigned to teach "Social Studies" to the Junior classes from Jss1-3. Then "English" and on not-too-frequent occasions "Government", to the Senior classes from Ss1-3.

I had my very first lesson with the Jss 3 on Monday; considering that I was taking over from a teacher who had started with them from Week One. The topic i treated was "Harmful Cultural Practices". We have "Female Genital Mutilation" as a subtopic; which was actually what I taught.
I took time to explain to the students what "Female Genital Mutilation" also known as "Female Circumcision" was all about. I explained the underlying reasons why the natives had to introduce it, what they had hoped to achieve and the resulting problems they created. In other to be better understood, I drew a mock diagram of a female anatomy on the blackboard. This was geared towards a proper understanding of the differences between Partial Circumcision (Scarification) and Complete Mutilation.

In the course of the lesson, the students exhibited some form of childish repulsions, which I attributed to the very nature of the subject-matter. On my part, I tried as much as possible to stick to the topic without cracking jokes or even laugh at jokes from them. Many even asked inquisitive and probing questions. I only answered those that I considered relevant to the issue of discuss. I left the class with some of the students still showing signs of repulsion.
My next lesson was with the Jss 1. The topic was "Marriage". I tested the class previous knowledge by asking them what they understand by the word "Marriage". A female student stood up to defined marriage as a "union between a man and a woman". I asked the entire class to clap for her, given her very bold attempt. But to their bewilderment, I told the class that she was wrong after they were done clapping. Some of them even protested; inquiring why I adjuged her to be wrong.

I told the class that her definition was wrong because it did not sufficiently capture the very essence of the concept as it applies to our contemporary times. I told them that marriage is rather "a legal union between two consenting adults", "....it could either be between two people of the same gender or two opposing genders".
At this point, I had their undivided attention. They were all hushed and concentrated. I told them about the LGBTQ community and their persistent struggle for acceptance.

I made them understand that is a global community with a global agenda. To drive home my point, I made them understand that the last dispensation of Goodluck Jonathan, had infact blamed this global phenomenon to be principally responsible for his failure at the polls as result of his refusal to give consent. I equally put in the same energy to explain the more common types of marriage (Christian, Islamic, Traditional, and Court). I left my class feeling every earned sense of fulfillment; having done my job to the best of my ability.

THE NEXT DAY.

I was in my office, when I got a message that the Director wants to see me. It was not my first time of receiving such a call from the Director. Staff meetings were almost becoming as frequent as one going to make use of the Convenience. Well... I took it like "Nwa it's nothing" ( in Phyno's voice). I stood up from my chair, adjusted my belt and then, swaggered away towards the Director's Office.

Before the office of the Director is the office of his secretary. The population of parents I saw there was quite more than what we normally receive on a daily bases. But considering that for the past week, we have been emphatic on the need for school fees debtors to come effect their payment, I didn't give their presence much thought. I was infact glad that at least, Madam will no longer hold us responsible for the poor response of parents to this obligation.

My indifference soon started giving way to some form of anxiety; more like fear, when I began to notice the "sea of eyes" looking my way with every step I took towards the Director's Office. As I got closer to the door, I discovered that the population in the Director's Office was even more that the spillover outside. I could feel the suppressed tension in the air. The faces were not bright or even welcoming to say the least. They did not appear to me like those who came to pay school fees.

I was able to excuse my way into the Secretary's Office. The Director motioned for me to come into his office at once, as soon as he saw me making my way in. He wasn't sitting on his chair. Standing with him as I was latter told is the School PTA chairman. A very respectable man judging by his outward disposition. He was an elderly man; infact the oldest among the lot.
As soon as the Director motioned me in, the crowd standing between me and the Director's Office just parted in two like the Red Sea to make way for me. I felt my heart sink into my stomach. My legs instantly felt heavy. But I had myself under strict comportment. My face were without emotions. Afterall, I was guilty of nothing (or so I thought).

As I walked into the office, the elder man (PTA chairman) was looking almost piercingly at me. As if sizing me up. My presence caught him in the middle of his address to the gathering.
My Director asked me to take a seat; which I did. I infact, sat at the edge of my seat, still wondering why I was the only teacher that was called to such a gathering of not-so-happy-looking parents. My Director (also an elderly Muslim man) sensing my apprehension, asked me to relax with what I considered to be a mischievous grim on his face. Well...I knew better than to do as instructed. I was on guard.
The first question I was asked was "How long have you been in the North?".

"About 15 months Sir" I replied as loud enough as my dried throat will permit me. "The first 12 months was at Jalingo and just 3 months in Zaria." i quickly added emphatically.

"Where were you born?"
"Lagos but I did my first degree in the East. My family is still based in Lagos"
"Are you Igbo?"
"Yes Sir"
There was a little thoughtful pause after that answer. Then he continued..
"What brought you to Zaira?"
"I'm a student of ABU and I'm here for my Master's degree program Sir"
"That's good" he said thoughtfully as he continued to gaze at me as if studying my disposition.
The others just continue to look as us without saying a word. A few of them (matured men) were occupying the few seats in the office. The rest (mostly the hijab wearing women and young fathers) were standing.
"Our Children came home to complain that you are teaching them bad things. That you are saying negative things that they don't like in class. What is it that you are teaching them?"
At this moment, I almost felt like bursting out in laughter. I had to pinch myself to remain composed.

Well...to cut the story short, I took time to explain to the parents what it was that I taught. The Director even sent for my textbooks without allowing me to go get them myself. I don't know if they were nursing the impression that I might escape. Funny them! Escape for what? Mtcheeeu!

When my textbooks came, it was confirmed that I had actually taught in accordance to the dictates of the textbook for the case of the Jss3. As for the Jss1, the topic was actually confirmed to be on marriage too, but the textbook (which was an old textbook of course) was silent on the issue of same sex marriage.

I was given a very strict warning to stick only to the content of the textbook. In the course of all of the admonishment, the PTA Chairman was smiling, but I knew better than to take the smiles for their face value. This people were dead serious!

I have since swore to myself, that I shall never try to "do pass myself". if I teach and you understand....fine! if you don't.... that's your cup of tea! I can't come and kill myself.
This was my experience! I felt compelled to write it down in order to help save someone somewhere from falling into my kind of situation. That is wasn't attacked by the parents is infact a miracle that I thank God and the respectable PTA chairman for. My intentions were pure. But here in the North, intentions can easily be misinterpreted especially when coming from a non-muslim and worst still, from a Nyamiri.
I personally think there is still a need for mass sensitisation of the Northerner on the usefulness of Western Education. The illiteracy rate is high. Those that even manage to go to school are just doing it with the impression that it is merely to fulfill all righteousness. Little wonder why we keep discovering "torture houses" on a daily bases. If the University community of Zaria could be this timid, how much more the Northern interiors.

Thank you.
we all learn every day next time be sensitive to your environment and respect your environment.... You could have been lynched ......

All you have to tell them is that there is same sex marriage in some cultures and environment but such an act is abominable in our own environment to the extent that Nigerian Law forbid it and whosoever engaged in same sex are liable to 14 years imprisonment......

You were so Bias to lay blame on GEJ for losing the pool due to LGBTQ..... U just want these innocent lads to accept and acknowledge the existence of LGBTQ.... You want to eradicate their chance of condemning it by selling and marketing the ideology to them ..

You are a shame to our culture and constitution and establishing the existence of these acts on the soul of our young lads without condemning it.

You taught them out of syllabus, You ain't even being sensible about it ..... you made them clapped only to rubbish the little girl again and rubbish the entire class ..... were u expecting these little lads to answer appropriately huh .... You don't have to say she is wrong , just add your own and complement the girl's and class effort !!

I swear If I am the Director, You are outa my school .... If my baby attend such a school, I will definitely change school unless you are out!!

FamilyRe: Sometimes I Regret Marrying My Wife by DonroxyII:
Mrcashman87:
I am not new to Nairaland but I have to use this account for my story . I have met her in 2009 she was calm , doesn’t talk much but easily get angry and I also noticed that she wasn’t a good cook but was good in other things ( chores) , it didn’t stopped me from loving her, I didn’t tell any of my people even though I have sisters that are good cook but I decided to take her to catering school to learn how to cook which she went for lessons to practice.

We got married in 2013 , she got pregnant that same month and she became so lazy that I will go to work and come back to found the house very messy with everything’s all over the places , dirty dishes and not dinner yet, and I have to take over cleaning and cooking dinner for us. She claimed she could not longer clean the house , she is tired and need to rest so I have decided to get a house help for her , a small 14 years old, this girl was hard working , very obedient but to my wife she is evil , every single day I comes back from work , this girl is always in tears my wife will beat the hell out of her to the extent of giving her black eye , if I confront her she will start accusing me of sleeping with the girl which is not true, I can never stoop so low to sleep with an underage girl. I have nieces of similar ages what I wouldn’t want another person to do to my nieces and wouldn’t do to another person daughter.

One time I came back from work to found the girl in a pool of blood , that my wife hit her with a wooden chair and she had a deep cut on her head , I got angry with my wife even her reasons didn’t make sense to me , all because she asked the poor girl to warmed up the baby milk and she mistakenly left it for too long , the milk was too hot to give to the crying baby so she got angry at her and hit her . I have told my wife she shouldn’t act like that no matter what and here come again you are sleeping with her and that’s why u are siding with her , we had an heated argument that I have left the house to cool down , I came back after 5 hours and next morning I have send for my brother to take the girl back to her parents , I have given her money 30k to manage that was how the girl left the house.

When our first child was 6 months , we found out she was 2 months pregnant she cried that the baby is too small , she can’t keep the pregnancy , I have begged her to keep that everything will be alright . Our twins were born a girl and boy , having 3 children under 2 wasn’t easy for us and I have to go to work while she staying with the kids all alone and she was depressed , I have decided to bring in a house help 15 years old boy , the same thing repeated again , she was maltreated him the same thing she did with the girl , that boy didn’t even stays with us for 2 months , he run away . I came back to found her crying that the boy has slapped her and run away, I was angry for what he did even swear if I catch him , he will regret the day he was born but the other way I knew that boy did it for self defence .

After the boy left I said no more e help , she will have to manage alone because I couldn’t help her anymore , but my house become dirty that I wouldn’t even want to bring in visitors because of the state of the house , dirty plates can stay in the sink for 3 -4 days , laundry she has a washing machine but she couldn’t bother to do , cooking we eats take away every single night , imagine I comes back home 9pm due to my job and Lagos traffic , at that time I’m even exhausted but I have to started cleaning , one time I got pissed with her that she didn’t wash the eldest daughter school uniform and all her uniform 5 sets of uniform were dirty and she had no clean one to put on in the morning , I have to wash them at 10pm and for her she didn’t see anything wrong with that.

When the twins were 1 years she told me she is tired of staying at home that she wanted to go to work , I have told her to wait at least for them to be a year and 6 months to start school before she can pursue her career but she disagreed with me, so I gave her money for business , she opened a shop . We had an agreement that she should be closing down her shop at 7pm so she could be home with the kids and take care of the house , she was ok and I got a elderly woman as a help , she doesn’t lives with us , she comes at 6 am and closes at 8pm and I also brought 2 of my nieces 18 and 11 to the house. Every since she started working she has never get home on time , sometimes she stays until 10pm , if I talk she get angry and will start raining insults on me , we haven’t make love in a long time , she always complains of being tired , her stomach is paining her etc etc. I have decided to leave her alone and not bother her about sex anymore , and it doesn’t bother too. She acts as im a nobody to her. So it happened in July I came back home to found my niece 11 years old with a deep cut and blood on her eyebrows and my wife did it just because the girl broke a plate so she hit the girl with the broken plate , first all I had to rush her to the hospital and she had 11 stitches and went back home, all I wanted to sit with her and to talk sense with her but she wasn’t even interested all she could do was shouting at me , accusing me of sleeping with both my nieces and the elderly house help , was so angry that I have beaten her badly which I later regretted and apologise to her.

That was the first time I have lay my hand on her something I vow not to do to the woman I love but she pushed me so bad and I have been remorseful but she refuse to forgive me . It’s now 4 months we don’t talk , we don’t sleep in the same room , she just do her own and come home anytime she pleases. I just don’t know what to do anymore , I love my wife and children but her attitudes isn’t right. We have 3 beautiful children 5and twins are 4. Sometime i want to divorce her but when I think about my children I just don’t feel like going ahead with divorce but I’m also a human and can’t stop living like this .

Please my brothers and sisters help me with your advices
You already saw the handwriting on the wall at the beginning and you still decide to tag along .... I can't withstand a violent woman because two things are involved it is either she turned you to a beast like her or she wound/kills you one day !!

If you don't do the needful, this girl will kill you one day and never in your life raise your hand against a violent women !!

Take her out .... Obtain leave (Annual leave) from your place of work and book a hotel out of Lagos maybe Abuja if you have the financial capacity ...

Just you and her for a week , Talk sense to her head calmly and with tears .... show her how much you love her , break all her emotional barriers and let her realise how much you regret hurting her (Ya blaspheme yaself) .... Apologise for all sorrows you have caused her (Na lie) .... Tell her how deeply hurt you too have been ... how much you have disconnected from her due to this , this, that and these .....

let her realise the goals you have for your family, how you want your kids to be raised, ask her for her opinion and the objective can sync between you and her .....

Reverse Psychology works well for me !!

Their Job is to man the border against any form of illicit item entering or going out of our country and if closing the border is necessary for them to restrategise their Operations then so be it !!

Chairman I am not here to argue Nigerian Governance but I know the essence is to combat Terrorism meanwhile if there are other benefit accruable from the Border closing it's all good ... It will eventually be Opened, it may achieve the desired objective and it may not... This is Nigeria but at least it is a good step in the right direction in my own Opinion !!

I pin pointedly told you Nigeria only closed the land border, the airspace and seas are still open for International trade .... This is our country, our government can do all what they like within the law(National/International) to protect this territory and if it include closing the entire border (Land, Air and sea) so be it !!

Sad that a pastor lick pucci .... common girl .... There are certain things that shouldn't be surprising anymore ... The MOG even owned up to it ... And don't be sad Ok, You are young and you never can actually tell where you too can find yaself as the journey of life continue ....

It takes Grace to live in fulfilment of God in this present world ..... You can only live you...... and develop strategies to live for God but e no easy !!

Watch how Bokoharam, ISIS, Alshabbab kill their victim or the woman that was dropped at Lekki Few Nights ago ..... .... This pastor didn't kill this woman for God sake, he only licked her Pucci grin ...

Don't be sad, Other worst things happen in the Church by these Daddy-GOs ..... The Sex for Grade pastor Nko !! Endtime things noni!!
