Often i hear people give testimonies of how the life of a killer or a bank robber was transformed to that of a model citizen by religious conversion. In one particular case, a friend of mine told me of this young man that killed his pregnant girlfriend and buried the body because he was not ready to become a father and she refused to do an abortion. Some years later he gave his life to christ, found the father of the girl and confessed what he did to him. The father being a christian forgave him and all was well. I told my friend that for all to be well the young man has to confess his crime to the State in order for the process of justice to run its course, that even if the father of the girl forgave him that ultimately the crime was committed against the State so he doesn't have the right to absolve him of the responsibility of that debt to society. My friend disagreed with, in his view there is no sin that the cleansing blood of Jesus can not make white and God being the ultimate judge if he forgives you there is no authority either in heaven or on earth that can challenge him. I believe in what Jesus said about giving ceasar's stuff to ceasar and God's things to God, therefore i think the right thing for us to do as christians next time someone comes to the alter to give a disgusting testimony like this would be to demand for the arrest of that person. How can someone claim to have genuinely repented from such heinous crimes if there is no effort to suffer a restorative penance? I fail to see how and that is why i think that all such testimonies true or false are from the devil, it doesn't edify us or strenghten our appreciation of God's justice in any way. |
This is obviously a tall tale but assuming it is true shouldn't he be locked up in prison for killing a baby? Or does confessing Jesus absolves one of crimes against the state? |
A very patheric sight indeed. |
The devil can never ask God for forgiveness and if he did God will not forgive him. Forgiveness as a concept and practice is only opened to humans on account of our imperfection or fallen state. This means that we have a natural tendency to sin unlike the angels who are perfect, without being burdened of wanting to sin and understand the full consequence of their actions |
buzugee: i believe his point is, and correct me if i am wrong dorox, people overestimate the magnitude of eternal punishment in hell because they dont juxtapose it with the magnitude of eternal life with God. I think both your positions are different. He is trying to justify eternal punishment in hell by measuring it up to eternal enjoyment with the lord.My point is that death is enough. The price for sin is death and being that we are all sinners we were doomed to die without hope of ever living again but because jesus has paid that price with his life those excercising faith in him won't have to pay with their life. That is why jesus said rhat he died so that many might live. |
buzugee: somehow i dont quite think he was agreeing with you. he is saying that 'eternal fire' is a justifiable punishment for sinners.I don't know what gave you that impression because just reading through my comment again it is obvious that i could not have been clearer in my support of frosbel's post. |
Nice article, i am totally in agreement with all the points. I would like to know if your position on the immortality of the soul and eternal toture is new or wether you have had this view for some years. |
Hi frosbel, i loved your comments on this topic, unlike me you tend to cite a lot of scriptures when making your arguement which is a very good thing especially when the scriture is quoted in context as is usually the case with you. Are you the same person as fr0sbel? |
It is my belief that those christians who do not see everlasting death as punishment enough for sin do not understand and appreciate the value of eternal life with God as a result of the ransom sacrifice of Jesus, hence their need to rebalance the injustice of sinful wicked humans with eternal torture. |
FXKing2012: Typical questions of an utterly ignorant and confused atheist. Always looking for answers thru empirical means.I am not an atheist and i also do not think that you have made much sense. If the curse is only working in the "spiritual" how can you boldly claim that the curse has started working? My question to you is do you still stand by your claim that the curse has stated working? If yes tell us how otherwise change the title to something expressing faith that the curse would eventually work. |
jayriginal: JeSoul, you see I put the link there ? You also see I said I might edit later ?Could you please explain the difference to me , i seem to be a bit slow this morning. |
This article doesn't make much sense to me, indeed not only do i find the claims contradictory with the little O'level physics i did and the little bits i picked up informally, i also found the author of the article to be disingenuous in not talking about the energy involved in the creation of the cosmos. From Einstein's special law of relativity equation E=mc2 the relationship between mass and energy can be clearly seen where E is energy, m is mass and the constant c represents the velocity of light in a vcuum. This means that if you can make a tiny amount of mass to disappear it would result in the release of an enormous amount of energy that is equal to the lost mass multiplied by the velocity of light squared. Conversely, an enormous amount of energy is needed in order to create a tiny amount of mass as is evident in a particle accelerator. Soon after the cataclysmic explosion of the primordial atom, there was no matter just energy and as the universe cooled down matter condensed from energy just like water from steam. In other words all that exist today is as a result of the energy present at the big bang. Where the article is right is that without the 'laws of physics' blind release of energy is often destructive rather than creative so the universe would most likely not have formed at least not like we know it. But even with the right physics, without energy nothing would have formed, no amount of 'quantum mechanical fluctuations' could have produced anything without energy. And according to my basic understanding of the law of thermodynamics, energy cannot come from nothing. I believe that God is the producer of that initial energy. If na only physics dey required why them wey be scientist no dey make their own universe? |
To be crystal clear, are you saing that the curse has started working or that the curse will eventually work? |
FXKing2012: God's time is always the best. We are not to tell GOD when it's best for HIM to act.If God's time is the best why did you creat this thread about oyedepor's worthless curse? Don't you realise that anyone can say anything no matter how absurd and unlikely for it to hapen and still claim to be right without a definite time frame? If you have not been totally brainwashed as some of us think you are, if you are as smart as some of your comments seem to suggest and if there is still a flicker of rational reasoning left in you then i have no doubt that you yourself must have begun to question the efficacy of pastor oyedepor's curse |
Dr. Sign Fireman is for the large part no different from daddy G.O Adeboye or Pastor Chris or indeed anyone that sells false hope for a better tomorrow and good health using the name of Jesus. He is perceived negetively by most people because of his lack of finese and aggresive style that reeks of desperation. |
is going completely topless like we did before the europeans came to subjugate us a sin? |
Ayomivic: where is peace in this?I am also asking myself the same question that is why i wrote peace in quote. Hoping to get answer from a muslim. |
fluid26: Islam is of the devil. It is the religion of "peace". |
waters2012: Many Godless folks on NL. Thinking themselves to be wise, they became fools. They way of truth have they not known. Speaking lies in hypocrisy.Have you ever wondered who the people are that jesus would deny knowing even though claimed to have performed miracles in his name? if you haven't then you are probably one of them - prosperity gospel salesmen. |
haibe: @ijawkid if God dwells in you, don't you think it is possible to live like God since he now lives the live for you and ye are no longer yourselves but of God, it seems you don't still understand when the bible says we are the temple of the holyspirit which is in us or when the bible says he that is in christ is a new creature. When God lives in you, you can live very much like God as he lived when he came in flesh, S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴̴̴̴̴̴͡ ƔυƦ case of how can a man live like a Godman is just because of ƔυƦ lack of understanding, paul urges them to live like christ the Godman(just using ƔυƦ word) because he understands that christ has promised to come and dwell in them in person of the holyspirit and that with the power of the holyspirit in man he can very much live like the Godman jesus. My honest opinion is that you made no sense at all, read through ijawkid's explanation of philipians 2:1-12 and judge for yourself if it is not consistent with what jesus said about himself in the bible. |
@ijawkid: Wow!!! You just blew me away. Loved every bit of your explanation, you have so far IMHO given the most complete explanation of jesus christ. |
dalaman: What is the non Muslim scholarly position on the authorship of the Koran?Plagiarized from the bible. |
ijawkid: Lol.........I totally agree with the above post, just goes to show that some people don't think things through before they make their conclusion. |
ijawkid: If u ask me na who I go ask......I am very sure that image123 will strongly disagree with you about the definition of bible seed |
Avicenna: How do you manage?I do get along very well with my atheist simblings and my mum even when i don't agree with their views i can see why it can appear very reasonable. I have my reasons for believing in God which i have explained to my brothers but i won't be able to repeat them here because i am afraid that my writing skill will be inadequate to express the complexity of my argument. |
Onosy: FIRSTLY, check your dictionary for the meaning of these words (IDLE, IDOL)you will see that you r a looser that couldn't just see something properly before criticising...if you can criticise my english (idol) that was correct and u replaced it with your (Idle) that was not correct then I can now see why you criticise MEN OF GOD...Your mumu no get boundary at all. No wonder you can't think for yourself. |
2good: Do you live in Nigeria? Not anymore but it was while living abroad that i rediscovered my faith. |
ijawkid: Them for tie u rope for neck if they knew u were an atheist from d unset.....My sister and two of my brothers are atheist, my mum is an agnostic while two of my other sisters are strong christians with me just managing to hold on to the faith. I was formerly an agnostic |
dolwell@yahoo:It pains me because it is sad to see a majority of my genetic kinsmen acting like a bunch of baboons. |
logicboy: I am dumbfounded. I think that you have very little chance of reasoning with such a person. The best way to correct the person is that there would be no gain for the politicians nothing at all. The best way is to follow the money- people died because the airline wanted to save money on repairs and new planes.I agree with you concerning the fact that not everybody you can reason with but even among those with some extremely whacky views a few can still be reached. |
My apologies for a thoughtless advice, sometimes i just forget how rigid islam is. You should avoid engaging more than one person at a time, with one person the discussion is more focused and the individual is not bothered about how he/she is perceived by others and is forced to think with the absence of group knowledge, above all i think it will be safer for you in case the person is unreceptive compared to an unreptive group of people on a bus. |
Zi: 'e-warrior' bites? EiyaaaaA very cowardly retreat you should have simply apologized for your bitchy attack and gracefully said your goodbye. |

but I won't deprive you of what you enjoy. So feel free, take up the whole internet space, argue as much as you wish (it doesn't change the truth, anyway), employ all your logical senses so u can 'WIN' but don't expect another response from me.
