Anyway, I can really see you don't walk alone looking at the poll here @ J-girl Don't mind Toshmann o. Keep the flag flying. Man U! Man U! Man U! Man U! Man U! |
@ 4 Play I totally agree with you on that. 2 wrongs don't make a right. When they are separated, will they will burn themselves? However, people are forced to defend themselves. @ Kebab It's consolling to know that there are still muslims like you in this world. |
@The One Sorry about what happened. May God console you and the family of the Lady. May God's grace also be sufficient for you all at this trying period of your lives. @ Topic I'm really really vexed in my spirit ![]() This madness has been on for a long time but nothing serious has been done about. All their apologists should come and defend this one now . I keep wondering why a religion that says it is about peace will allow so much violence.Even Borno state that they said is a peacful place joined the madness during my NYSC programme. To now think that this all started in a girls only school, it's a big shame. |

Enjoyed playing football during my primary and secondary school days but my Mum curtailed me because of injuries. After my secondary school days, I didn't really have anyone to play with until I got to the University but I only played a couple of times there. Also, played a funny version of handball in secondary school and table tennis too I'm like a professional football player/coach now sha - in FIFA games ![]() @ BlackMamba and Ferlie This your own type of sport na wha o. ![]() |
First love is Running around the whole of Nairaland and shouting Man U! Man U! Man U! Man U! Man U! Man U! Man U! My second club is Chelsea because of the Coach. Spain: Barcelona Don't worry fellas. I'm not Lil Jon but please adjust the poll and make it more open. Some other people's clubs are not there and the other option may not be fair enough. |
DSTV subscription fee is way too much for a country like Nigeria. Too bad it has gotten to the level of arresting their boss but another point I want to make is that foreign companies do a lot of illegal things they can't do in their country in Nigeria because of corruption. If DSTV is truely guilty of the accusations, then let the law take its course. We should start sending signals out to everyone that "business as usual" can't continue anymore. Even at that, I won't support intimidation by anyone. Some other factors also add to the cost indirectly like lack of constant power supply from PHCN so you have to generate power yourself again to enjoy your subscription. Then if you can scale that huddle, pray you don't spend over half of your viewing time in bad traffic trying to get home from work (or wherever) if you live in Lagos . The bottom line is that at the long run most subscribers underutilize their subscription. As for HiTV, let's pray they will deliver quality services. If it eventually turns out completely to be transfer of monopoly of the business from DSTV to HiTV, at least we can console ourselves that it is our own people monoplizing the business and not some foreigners. @ Seun Haba Seun, before you say I'm being hypocritical oya tell me which part of the post that I said Peter should be robbed to pay Paul. Maybe you are just getting me wrong. Also, I don't completely agree with you that only incompetent competitors complain of monopoly o. Sometimes if another player as so much advantage, even the competent ones may look incompetent |
Single ![]() |
@ Seun Don't get me wrong o Seun. If you go through my post very well, I said I don't support intimidation in anyway in the first graph. I'm not saying we should be praising Niger Delta kidnappers for extorting money from foreigners or praise scammers for robbing foreigners to enrich themselves since they are "our people" I don't support the idea of robbing Peter to pay Paul either. Try and look at it from this angle, if HiTV is doing well, it's a Naija owned company and at least the money is hopefully going to be circulated within the country directly or indirectly more than when the industry is fully run by a foreign company that will only probably take the profits away to develop their country. Again, the law should take its course if DSTV is guilty of the allegations. Business as usual should not be encouraged and too bad if DSTV will be used as a scapegoat. Don't forget that before now, some other companies have been complaining of the monopoly of DSTV and it's effect in the industry. Maybe they couldn't get far because they are not well "connected". If you feel that it's all politics or a matter of connection to some people that is causing all these, let's just say the new king for Egypt no send Joseph ni. |

Razorr:Well said about the big tummies Razorr. The most annoying part is that some naija women (with their protruding tummies) will still wear all these short dresses (because they wan dress like oyinbo) revealing the whole disgusting thing. Ahw ahw feels like vomiting, races to the toilet Razorr no worry, ladies no go kill you. Abeg, ladies no kill Razorr o. The truth is bitter even if you add honey and if you add too much sugar sef, it will still be bitter plus pile ![]() |
@ babyosisi Nice picture. It's quite funny too because only the people in the picture will know themselves. laughing Abi, no be so? So what are we to admire in the picture - the background? laughs laughs laughs That one sef no really dey sef. |
You need a chick? Try Obasanjo Farms now. Think those ones should be well treated against bird flu. Yeye boy!!! ![]() |
monkeyleg:As much as I agree with you, let me just point out that it is only God that can help us. Sometimes the people we assume that are good may not really be. These our politicians sometimes look clean in their agbada until you hear/read funny or bad things about them. Though I don't see Pat Utomi as a "politician", I read on this Nairaland that he sent his kids abroad to study saying that Nigeria is not safe. If that is true, isn't that funny? This is the same person that expects you to cough out millions to enrol in Lagos Business School o. I don't have anything against him o but all I'm saying is that we the masses should keep praying that God should choose the best person for us. |
Hey hey hey, brothers and sisters, let's not allow the madness of these people to spoil our day o. Let's take it easy with one another abeg. It won't be nice when they are sipping champagne aboard international flights to treat themselves and we are here fighting. Back to the topic. It is quite tempting to believe that maybe our presidential candidates are having a contest o. Let's have a look 1. Yar'Adua - Trip to Germany for checkup on kidney problem (though his own has been a regular thing before now) 2. Atiku - Trip to London for Knee sprain Only GOD knows what we should be expecting from the other contenders. 3. Buhari 4. Orji Kalu 5. Chris Okotie 6. Pat Utomi Also, it seems the lower they are placed the more unsensible the excuse for their foreign trips. Only GOD knows what it will be by the time it gets to the last person on the list. just wondering Hope it won't get as bad as going abroad to check body temperature. ![]() Let's just keep our fingers crossed, let the comedy continue. |
nuru:If you are saying that the Ajami inscriptions on the notes didn't hinder anyone from spending them, then their removal is not doing the same too! You are asking what has been gained from its removal? nuru:I agree with your opinion but don't you think that all these should extend beyond this forum? If you agree with that, then let me remind you that some people in this country are not like that o. The same people that started this thing. What a coincidence! I would even prefer that they remove those inscriptions from all the other notes too. Let's see what will happen with that. Maybe when some of them dislike the notes because of that, looting will be reduced ![]() |
Whatelse can't these people fly abroad for now? Any small thing, fly abroad. Flying abroad for plastic surgery isn't new to us anymore. Then for medical checkup for a kidney problem (this one is still even a little bit acceptable) and now it is a knee sprain and it is straight to London. Whatelse are they going to start flying abroad for again. The money they should have used to develop the nation is what they are using to jet around the whole place. They talk about abroad as if they are just going to the next city. May GOD deliver us o. |
Na wa for this our country Nigeria o. There never seems to be an end to the madness in this country. Why would anybody want to start causing trouble over the removal of arabic inscriptions on the naira? These so called leaders that are complianing should spend their time doing something more reasonable for their people instead of trying to cause wahala. I would have said that we should send all these people back to school so that they can be taught that we gained independence from Britain and not Saudi Arabia; but in a situation were the MSS (Northern state chapter) and a whole University don are also part of this unthinkable and unholy clamour, I'm embarrassed and speechless for them all . The University don is even speaking against the Sultan on the issue. What nonsense and confusion amongst them!!! Soludo even gave them unneccessary attention with that visit. Do we need to take permission from them before we decide whether to remove those inscriptions or not? Before we know it now, they will want a foreign Islamic king to come and vet things in Nigeria.I say it without apologies that the removal of those inscriptions on the notes is a great deliverance for the Naira. I just pray that this thing doesn't escalate beyond this their comments. Everyone should be at alert most especially strangers in the North. I pray this won't be another excuse for them to start another war. The Danish cartoons that was not our business made some mad ones out of them (that didn't see them not to talk of being able to understand them) to start killing people. It was because everyone was relaxed about the matter in Borno state and didn't feel it will have any effect that made strangers there caught unawares. The utterances of their so called leaders started the whole mess in a way. This naira one should not be taken unseriously. Needeeg and Nuru, as much as I respect your views and opinion on this matter, I would advice that your posts be devoid of religion or ethnic bias. Try and put yourselves on the other side of the coin. I'm pretty sure that if when Nigeria got its independence and was about to change its currency from the pound, the contributions of the early missionaries that suffered and died to build hospitals and schools for people at that time was considered and it was decided that any of the languages that represents christianity was inscribed on the notes, they would have been removed before now. Most muslims/northerners would have fought against it. So please, stop giving us lame excuses why the inscriptions should remain there. As a matter of fact, if I had the powers, I would have the inscriptions removed from all the Naira notes. Anybody that doesn't like that should go and produce his/her own. These people that started the complain sef, only God knows how much naira they have o and they are still complaining. They all like the money and are shouting on what is written on it. Even Needeeg sef has money!!! as his signature . People should not be coming to this forum to insult our intelligence o. Just imagine if Seun requires everyone in the forum to put his/her picture and address during registration, I'm sure people will not just come here and be posting yeye things. If not you will just see someone walking on the street and before you know it, someone will just run towards him/her and service his/her face with a dirty slap . Therefore, it is not enough that you just type with your fingers alone, engaged your brain too!!! |
My phone ? That will be a risky thing to do for me o because if I put my own phone's picture here, Seun can ban me from Nairaland. |
Hi everyone. The replies on this thread are really impressing. It shows how analytical Nigerians can be in terms of business. On the issue of buying Transcorp shares, I would advise anyone to buy shares in that company. Truth is, it has some political aspect which would be smart of anyone to take into consideration before buying it. I also want to believe that a good analysis of the areas of business of the corporation would help one take a stand. Have a look at the major businesses of the company - Hotel, Telecommunications, Agric and Oil. These four areas are money spinners in most cases. On the hotel business, I would like to draw your attention to the fact almost all (if not all) big events that have to do with hotels organised by the government which would have been held in some other hotels have now been moved to Hilton as frequent as possible. Also, the private sector (in terms of private organisations and "big" individuals) will hold more events in that hotel because the truth is that no organisation does not want to be in the good books of the government. On telecommunications, NITEL is still a big player. Look at the company as a "sleeping giant". Even at this time that we may consider it to be sleeping, the truth is that the company is making millions everyday. I happen to be very close to most of the senior managers (serving and retired) of the organisation and I'm shocked sometimes at the amount of millions I hear they make in their territories in Lagos alone. That was even when he staff were being owed their salaries for several months so you can imagine when they are well motivated. NITEL at a time in the past had aircrafts during the days of military rule but everything went down because of mismanagement. Another angle is that in the whole of Nigeria, no telecomms company can beat it (for now) in terms of infrastructure/equipment. you can try and imagine how much money/time GSM operators have invested to cover Nigeria to this level but you will surprised that you can find telephone line in some of the most remote parts of the country. Their cable network coverage is the largest and don't forget their earth stations (or whatever they call them). At least I know of the one in their Victoria Island exchange. Most of all these PTOs (I won't want to start mentioning names) are owed/runned by retired managers from NITEL and they all are linked one way or the other to NITEL and (I'm of the opinion that) to that extent the monopoly of the company cannot be completely broken. Remember what happened when NITEL staff decided to switch off some of their equipments in some parts of the country during the struggle for their salaries. Most calls (especially inter-network calls) couldn't go through! I believe that is why the Federal Government has quickly responded to most of the demands of the staff. If not, they would have countinued to hold press conferences and protests all over the nation. Remember the Nigerian Airways and Nigeria Railways struggle. On agriculture, I believe Nigeria is becoming a major force to be reckoned in Africa (and in the whole world if I may add). Think Nigeria is now the largest exporter of cassava in the world (not sure though). The company at the look of things might turn out to be the biggest investor in that area in the country and continent. It's investments might even beat that of a whole country in some parts of Africa at a time when food shortage are becoming more rampant. You can only imagine what will be the return. The last but not the least is the oil part. Everyone knows that there is money in oil business from whatever angle you look at it from. Even if this area of the company is not in full operation, you know that oil blocks don't just dry up abi? I believe the problem in the Niger-Delta will have an end someday. In all, have you ever wondered why almost all the big people and people that matter in Nigeria rally round during the company's events. Skeptics ahould also note that a corporation tied to banks like Zenith, First Bank, e.t.c. and other big private sector players is not to be walked away from without a deep thought. The bottom line is that if you have loose money as (Delords pointed out), you should buy it before it closes (whao, it is even today!!!). It is like buying into four sectors of the economy with the price of one/two and they can complement each other. That's another advantage you won't find with most stocks. On a last note, politically speaking, when you buy into that company, keep praying some people never get to the position of the president of this nation or else. |

why a religion that says it is about peace will allow so much violence.
Abi, no be so? So what are we to admire in the picture - the background? laughs laughs laughs That one sef no really dey sef.
