@sen.tempest, oysters. I don't know about Calabar, but I've gotten oysters from port harcourt. They sell them in nylons with water in them.
|
@sen.tempest, almonds
|
@sen.tempest, can you find raw almonds? I give my hubbs tomato juice every night. You can also have pumpkin seeds and bananas. Pls don't go wild on them o, 12 almonds a day, 3 tomatoes at night, 1-2 bananas, 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds. You live in Calabar, pls get oysters! They are the number one food for men who are ttc because of their zinc content. Have fun. Berry kiss, almond flour is just ground raw almonds. I have a recipe for a milk drink which shows how it's done. @sen.tempest, that drink is for my hubbs, you can take that instead of the raw almonds. Honiepie, I love cauliflower (when I can get them). For those of us who don't live in jos (shout out to iyabetajos!), we can substitute cabbage, which is also a cruciferous veggie. Now to do some research to find fruits that are closest to nutritive content as peaches. Hmmmm. Thank you, my darling. These recipes are going to be finding their way to the blog. |
Honiepie, herbs pls. I know about maca, spirulina, royal jelly and bee pollen. What else? What pastry thread? Lemme check. |
Venues, that garnishing salad with walnuts is a super idea. I have to buy some and experiment. I'm thinking you could just cut them, roll them in olive oil, salt and pepper and roast. Or roll them in honey and bake. Yummmmmmmm! I'm getting walnuts oooo. @Chyvia, I haven't seen almond milk anywhere, but it's sooo easy to make your own. You can control what goes in that way. |
Lee, welcome. Have you seen this? 800 calories for 11 days is worth trying, in my opinion. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2385179/I-reversed-diabetes-just-11-days--going-starvation-diet.html Lizzy, almond milk for sure! @tbaby, I don check am, even cross check sef. Don't worry, Venuss'own no get snails for inside. Venuss, wetin snail do u na? Ok, you can use fish instead. |
Yes o, thanks Uteh and Pkinmama for clarifying the tiger nut consumption. It's actually my dh who drinks it. He doesn't chew it because it itches his tongue, so the milk is the only way he'll take tiger nuts. I figure that in conjuction with tomato juice and almonds, the milk should be just fine for him. @ Alwaystrue see? You always find Scripture for everything. It takes a lot of patience to do that, and when you do, people like me are grateful to copy the verses.lol. Thank you, you are a gem. |
Pls come o. I dey wait, no shaking! Lol. Thank you darling, I'm grateful |
Ahhhh, Alwaystrue, u no wan make my DH sleep this nite o. I will print out your post and paste it in our bedroom. I'm soooo grateful for the commendation, but where will I start commending you? Your posts always lift us up and give us reasons to smile. You manage to dig deep and find scriptural backing for every situation. I actually copy some of your posts and use them as references when I'm praying. I'm very grateful to you, and I'm sure that we all are. Thank you sooooo much, darling. I appreciate you. @Twingirls, raw almonds are perfect, but you can dry roast them if you want to snack on them, in a dry frying pan or in the oven. For the milk and flour, don't roast, use raw. How did you like the oatmeal? Tbaby, haba, u no say that one no be problem na-DHL or FedEx? Flakeey, thank uuuuuu. Honiepie, Abeg sharply start recommending o. I want to start making fertility smoothies we can take every morning, pls forward list of herbs to include. Amynimas, thanks dear. Tigernut milk is yummy. Igabe, I know! Washing snails is a messy job. Can you ask them to break them for you in the market? Then buy lime or alum and wash away. I think alum is easier, but I don't like the effect on my hands after washing |

MarJuly, I'm yet to find almond flour in Nigerian shops. You can order online or buy whole almonds and make your own. Flakeey, freezer-friendly fertility-friendly recipes coming soon. You can cook at the weekends, fill your freezer, and warm when you get home. Feel free to snack on the almonds, where possible, opt for un salted |
Honiepie, I don't understand the question o. For almond milk or almond flour? For almond flour, you don't have to extract the milk first (although you can, if you want to), just make sure the almond is dry, then use a food processor or dry mill that comes with blender to blend. For milk, soak the almonds then blend with water. Twingirls, salmon, tilapia, cod, croaker are good. Reduce mackerel intake (Titus fish) because of mercury issues. That doesn't mean you should eliminate it completely o, just minimise consumption. Dimssy, your DH will be pleasantly surprised. @tundeseun, thanks darl. @Chyvia, yes, it is. I think the correct method of getting out the seeds is to put the fruit pods on fire till they pop and release the seeds. If you break them, you risk smashing the almonds. Yes, soak the tiger nuts to make it soft enough for your blender. |
@Cjnone, tnxxxxxx I just found the answer, Acha is not quinoa. It's fonio or hungry rice. From what i see so far, it might be a food stand in if you can't find quinoa. Will let you guys know, let me look at the nutritional info for both. |
@atonementchild and moyinoluwa, thanks, I will check wuse market. I've only found almost dead avocados with fruit vendors around here. Thanks Yes, Quinoa is a superfood, but I can't find it anywhere. I've seen something that looks like it, but I'm not sure. Thanks for bringing it up, now I can ask fellow mums here. Abeg, is Acha Quinoa? The grains look similar but I'm not perfectly certain. If someone is sure, please let me know. Moyinoluwa, for almond milk, soak your almonds in water, preferably overnight. Blend and add water as you blend till you get your desired consistency. For coconut milk, if you have a food processor or a high-speed blender, cut coconuts into chunks and process or blend. If using a blender, add some water and blend. Remove the coconut and put in a bowl. Add hot water, mix and pour into a sieve or straining cloth to remove all the water. Repeat once more. If you want flour, dry the chaff and grind. You can also make coconut oil like this. About 5 coconuts gave me 3/4 cup of coconut oil. When you make the milk, pour into a container, cover and leave in a warm place for 48 hours. Use a transparent container to help you see the oil level. You will see the oil on top after about 2 days. To help in removing the oil, just place the container in the fridge when you've seen the oil. The oil will solidify on top and you can just take it out. |
Welcome, prettyrosefave, may your stay here be short and sweet. I don't have answers to your questions, but someone who does will come along shortly. Thank you, dear @Alwaystrue. Pls keep up the good work of supplying us with scripture and encouragement. @Twingirls, yes, you make it the same way you make tiger nut milk. And you are absolutely right, avocados and grapes are very good for fertility. Have been trying to get my hands on fresh avocados to try out some recipes, no luck yet. Pls does anyone know where I can find them in Abuja? @Honiepie, yes, you can make flour from the left over almond chaff. I do exactly the same thing with coconuts now. After expressing the milk, dry in your oven or under the fan, then grind to a powder. |
Twingirls, can you get almonds? And do you have a food processor? If you do, just process the almonds. If you can get almonds but don't have a food processor, just take it to those women who grind egusi in the market. Or if you have that type of grinder, perfect. If you want to make almond milk, make the milk first, but when you sieve it, don't throw away the chaff. Dry it in your oven or elsewhere and grind. That's almond flour, nothing to it, For the pancake, use 1/2 cup of almond flour, one egg and 2 tablespoons of coconut milk or almond milk. I don't sweeten, but you can, if you want. I just like the nutty tasteof the almonds. That remindsme, cooking spray is important to cut down on oil intake. When I fry eggs now, I just spray and pour egg. The same thing with pancakes. Spray the fry-pan and make your pancakes. Pink22, tomorrow, I'm going to purposely drop an egg on the floor to try that tip. I'm clumsy, so if that works, hmmmmmm, cool! Thank you |
Twingirls, anything that is a good replacement for coke will be like finding a goldmine to me. Do u have quantities for the lemon and honey, or should I just add to my taste? And should I boil it? Yes, you can use chicken instead. And I never soak my greens in hot water o! I just add them like that. Awww, y can't you leave comments? R u getting any error message? |
Honiepie, yes, I understood the post. I love snails! Thank u! @all, did you know that a bowl of oatmeal might help someone get pregnant? In fact, it is believed that ot is one of the best things we can do to increase our chances of conception. Read more and enjoy the recipe here http://www.frostedbakeshopng..com/2013/08/coconut-oatmeal-with-date-syrup.html?m=1 |
Honiepie, I'm sooo making this soon. As I was reading your post, I was imagining the lumps of plantain entering my mouth. Thank u. I'm in the process of making my own plantain flour. I'm drying the plantains under a fan, I hope that's not bad o. I actually wanted to experiment with it to make pancakes. I didn't even remember fufu. thank you. |
Honiepie, Pls do. I have a recipe like that. With grilled snails and greens. Pls post yours, let's compare. Thanks dear |
Lol@ Lizzy. Na the nut o! If you have the tree near you, you can organise boys to pick the fruits for you, then you process. Or buy from a good supermarket. Wetin man go do na?Welcome Dimssy, may your stay here be short and sweet. The first of the fertility friendly recipes is up. http://www.frostedbakeshopng..com/2013/08/unripe-plantains-with-simple-lamb.html?m=1 |
Lol @ twingirls. U know say all na recipe testing. The tomato juice is either I juice the tomatoes, or I blend them. Normally 2 tomatoes and I heat it till hot. That's all o. Then for the stew, I just blend my tomatoes, pepper, onions. Put them in a pot, throw my raw meat inside and 1 or 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Cover and cook till the rawness of the tomato disappears. |
Nice, your testimony is permanent. The devil has been put to shame in your life. You and all the Peggy mommas here will carry to term and give birth to healthy babies. |
@Lizzy, thanx for the link, I will look at it when I get home. Don't worry, I'll upload step by step pics. Igabe, I don't know what almonds are called here o. But when I was in primary school, we used to call the fruit 'fruit'. LMAO! I'll upload a pic when I get home. I know we have it in Naija, the problem is we don't process it. It might be the elelebo Lizzy is talking about o. U break it open to extract the nut |
MamaT, thank u for the info. Let me add that black beans are the most fertility friendly you can find. Unfortunately, I've only found in cans here. Please use black beans majorly. Open a can and rinse, then add to your recipe. I can testify to tiger nut too. Make up a jug of tiger nut milk, sweeten with dates or honey. Since I started this research for fertility friendly foods, hmmm, I can see the difference. We haven't done a new SA, but his juice is sooooo thick! Almonds and tomatoes too should be part and parcel of his diet and yours. I will start posting the recipes today. I give my DH 10-15 raw almonds in the morning (omo, i dey count am o) tigernut milk or coconut oil in the afternoon, and tomato juice in the evening. It hasn't been 2 weeks yet, but the difference will be obvious to a blind man sef. For me, I make pancake with almond flour and black beans in the morning, then I eat a lot of fish and vegetables now. I've also started a tablespoon of coconut oil everyday. I no long drown my tomatoes in oil in the name of stew. Thank you guys for the links and the encouragement to do this research. It has opened my eyes o. Lizzyslaw, I dey wait o. Pls I would appreciate the link. |
Hmmm, Honiepie, for helping us seal up our bfp prayers, I pray that when you get married, you will not experience a single delay in getting your bfp. Your bfp will come as you like it, you will carry to term and give birth at the appointed time. For taking out time to fellowship with us, God will bless you with your heart's desires! |
Whoa! God is in the neighbourhood. This August mennnnnn! It's been and will continue to be wonderful. Safe, abeg take down addresses of all bfp holders this August, then let's strategise on how much Asoebi will cost for the naming. We go carry big big tummy dey go from one naming to the next. God be praised! Congratulations Fablady. I wish you h&h 9 months. We still have lots more to declare this August. God, please leave the floodgates open. |
