Now imagine how low that goes. When enormously educated and highly placed people as that do what MC Oluomo's members must not be found doing in the Garages, then you see how lowly we have gotten as a people.

Meanwhile, I heard Pere say 'so the women in this house can cook...' I feel we are losing an essential part of our culture and tradition. In this part of Africa, our women cook and maintain the home front while our men bear the heavier burden of winning bread.

Now, men are showcasing cooking and 'holding the kitchen down' in Big Brother's house. They are the ones essentially cooking and cleaning. They are expressing surprise when the women cook.

While it is not an anomaly to have men cook and clean, it is a worrisome trend because these same men on the television show are the ones who must win bread for their houses. You hear Mercy and Ceec speak about marrying men who can 'take care of them'. That suggests that they want men who are higher up the social and economic ladder AND who can also help then with domestic activities like cooking and cleaning.

While I do all this in private, I know it is not common and not easy to have men who would go all out to be the primary provider of family funds.

In conclusion, where family funding is liberally borne by both parties, it is also expected, as fair, to have domestic responsibilities and roles shared freely by both partners. If the former however isn't, as is the case in most Nigerian homes, it can be difficult to expect the latter.

I supported Laycon, but there was a pity narrative for him right from the opening night very similar to the Ilebaye situation. The girls looked down on Laycon. I remember the other boys getting booed up in the opening night and Laycon standing alone with his hands folded. Nigerians judge people's IQ based on their looks most of the time, so, Laycon was seen as a street cultist who could vandalize Biggie's belongings, but he proved doubters wrong. He displayed intelligence which was even over hyped because he wasn't expected to be book smart. Ozo seemed just as intelligent as Laycon (if not more than Laycon), but because he looked rich and exposed, it wasn't a surprise to anyone. Laycon's PR team littered the whole social media space with his music videos in the opening night. A lot of people felt he was talented, but without opportunities and started supporting him.

I don't even think the Erica situation did much for Laycon. If anything, he gave Erica much visibility with their friendship.

For clarification, if necessary, these individuals are human beings who are essentially younger and less experienced than I may be. This is a mere Television Reality show, something that I watch whenever I do not particularly busy at what I do. On most occasions, I simply catch up with the social experiment taking place by reading this thread on Nairaland.

Ilebaye, who would win the show, and who is my favourite on this current show, is almost younger than my Nairaland handle. So let's get things in good perspective.

Both wanted to ruin Adekunle's wager task but lost their own wager in the end. Adekunle's head fought with them both.

Baye was just as toxic as Venita and Ceec. Baye fought with almost all the housemates as a matter of fact. That was her only content! She was the one who went to fight with Venita over a dick, Venita's cousin, so why should it be anyone's problem? Who even does that? Baye was as toxic as Ceec and Venita. Baye also fought with Ceec because Baye felt entitled to a naked Cross in the bathroom apart from stealing Ceec's make up while lying about it.

On Gideon's words to Pere, He probably didn't say such to Ceec because he probably realised that none of the girls were better. I mean the girls are more or less the same as Ceec, so if he was to say such to Ceec, he would have to tell all the girls the same thing.

I personally don't support anyone who plays the victim and start to cry any useless tears to play the victim. That written, Ilebaye is nowhere near being a perfect person. She's simply a young person coming of age. She's like a much younger version of Whitemoney: innocent, naive, error-prone, alcohol-weakened, some small kleptomania - but she's a loving and nice heart.

Laycon was the most intelligent house mate that year. His IQ was way over the charts. He didn't win via pity votes. Lekan was a genius in that house. The closest to him in this house is Adekunle. Even at that, Deks still fumbled at least once during the HFM General Questions task. Let's not talk about Ceec's, Mercy, Cross or Alex's during that task.

Your views are valid, Tatiana. It is impressive to see a Daddy's girl in the house. I am a Daddy's boy too. I picked him as my preferred parent as early as 8 years when I had to do a composition in school, and that has not changed many decades after. Everyone in the family knows.

You cannot be 'deeply involved' with raising children and also be the primary breadwinner of the family in Nigeria. I didn't begin having 10 minute conversations with my father until I was nearing 20 and with my WAEC result on the table in his office.

I had passed all my papers at a first sitting was the first of his children as of then who had cleared all 9 papers in SSCE WAEC in one sitting. That was when I apparently 'earned' the right to have adult conversations with him as a man-to-man, but guess what, I had observed him in all the years before then and he was a good man. Adekunle was ALWAYS going to make the final. That was written in the stars ab initio. He is a witty and sensible young man. Ladies like those in the BB House would not agree or try to 'ship' with anyone who doesn't look like a person that would help fans vote for them if they are ever nominated. A number of ladies tried to reach Adekunle before Venita cornered him all to herself.

However, fight or not, there was a way Adekunle eventually pulled the rug when he had enough of Venita's tantrums, wasn't it? Might it have come earlier? Was he afraid of what a fight might create? If a person is of bad character in the public and you continually tolerate the person, it dims your own light.

On departure from the show, Venita said she opened her heart to love and would see how it goes outside the house. Adekunle also read a great poem to her yesterday. So there's a real attraction there. Except Adekunle likes bad girls, and nobody likes such on permanent basis, there is something inherently toxic there - and it doesn't bode well.

Adekunle is an intelligent and handsome man on his day, alone and safe. His Isale Eko vibes were unmistakable on the dance floor yesterday. He was happy, he was the brightest part of yesterday's show. Our eventual winner Ilebaye was simply graceful and calm like a First Lady that she is.

There is a very bright future for Adekunle, but the further he stays away from Venita Oghenesomething Akpofure (he called all her names yesterday), the better for that future.

My best highlight of the show though.

The major conspirators (Kidd, Pere, Ike, Cross) constant plotting. I liked seeing them gather to scheme to vent off against all the other housemates but failing in their plan in the end😂 The Pepperdem also had their mini plotting before Venita got into ship.

Adekunle drama with Pere. His break dance and the whole drama were something else 😂

Kim's drama while turning both heads of Cross & Pere 😂 Kim was the best fake housemate!

Adekunle's commentary during the Guinness football task. That was hilarious and fun. The way he was praising his team with some fun tease during the commentary 😂

The usual Lipton event. It's always colourful fun event. The dances too, albeit the girls were quite rigid.

Ebuka & Gideon coming to chat with the Housemates yesterday was fun too.

Got to give this a "like" even though I may not agree with the rather mean words in the opening paragraph directed towards Baye's handler.

CeeC looks like a really mean lady though. She couldn't pretend to be happy to smile and dance on stage last night. She just kept that mean face and barely moved on the dance floor. She may need to really really loosen up.

You shouldn't be that uptight over 2 seasons on our screens, although a large number of people apparently like and encourage her at it.

When Gideon said Pere's view of life may be generally condescending, might he have refrained from telling CeeC same because of their friendship? Who is worse at that when both of them are compared?

Only that Venita may be the most vile of them all. Venita relentlessly attacked Ilebaye and Adekunle never cautioned her publicly at least. That killed his game, at least for me. It was what stopped me from supporting him and fully began voting for Baye

Cos I heard even CeeC describe Adekunle as an average dancer in a conversation with Mercy a few days ago - only for Deks to stun the whole world on his second appearance on the Lipton party stage. He was particularly casual during his Level Up Lipton party. He quite looked like an older and more frail man at LU, from the videos I saw on YouTube - as I almost didn't watch BBN LU at all - when compared to the zest he brought to the party yesterday.

Adekunle may have been this season's winner if he didn't ship with Venita and had stayed 100% objective. Same way Laycon didn't ship - or was rejected by Erica - but went on to win the show as a man without a ship.

It may be no mistake that Biggie gave her white and green colours for necklace as well as her sash. It reminds me of Laycon's night at the Lipton party. Olalekan Laycon didn't understand when the singer was dishing our 'Olamilekan Lo Ko So', same way Ilebaye isn't understanding how popular she is, especially when she was singled out for a Kogi song...

One thing I have learnt from this Lipton Task is something painful as a man:

About 70% of the 6 housemates dedicated their family and friends poem to their MOTHERS. None of them dedicated their poem to their Dad - not even Ilebaye who is a known Daddy's girl, as she had herself said on the show, as recently as the Diary Room a few days ago.

The implication for me is that men have a poor life. We do the heavy lifting. We provide for everyone in the family and while at it, we have much less time with the children and family.

Ultimately, we lose everything. Most of our children prefer our wives. We die early. We suffer loneliness when our wives go for Omugwo in old age.

Nobody tells the age-long truth in public, that men cheat and drink because they try to drown themselves at the and of the day to cope with occupational and family stress. Unfortunately, it is often counterproductive, as it worsens the problem on the home-front...

He's been mimicking DJ activities with the table and a bottle of water. Except that he told CeeC earlier on that he would be a billionaire in dollars, I think Cross Da Boss Okonkwo may have a ready contract at Wazobia FM for 200k naira or thereabout per month once this show is over...

It is interesting to see the friendship and conversations between Pere and Mercy.
It is inspiring to see Mercy saying she loves Whitemoney for being innocent, simple and non-malicious.
Mercy says, while eating with Pere who is swooning on her, that her heart is with Whitemoney for the virtues she sees in him. She says she doesn't need a man's money because she can handle her finances but wants a mature man who is not playing. She says she doesn't want 'bad boys' anymore.
Pere replies that she is getting into a phase that requires that manner of commitment.


What makes this all surreal is that someone, or some people on this thread had written that this would happen this a long time ago. Back then, it wasn't too clear what Mercy was doing with Whitemoney, and I really once caught Soma on the show before he was evicted saying to his crew that Mercy told him in private that she doesn't like Whitemoney. Apparently, Mercy wants to 'settle down' and sees a chief like Hazel as a possible long-term partner. It is no doubt that the fact that he is also a previous winner may play a role in her mind.

It tells me, ultimately, that many women in our country do not date for love - but 'based on logistics'. Whitemoney simply loves Mercy because she looks good, simple easy love. it is not to say that Mercy doesn't have a sweet character when she chooses to be simple and straight, but she is also quite 'street' when that side of her is exposed. No man in conservative Africa - and Hazel (Whitemoney) is a conservative African - would love to hear his fiancé say what Mercy told Pere, 'I do not mind knacking here, it is not anything, but I am not a single woman now'.

However, I am sure Hazel would jump at the opportunity to date, and possibly marry Mercy. However, marriage is the easier thing. Staying married in the face of the vagaries of life and the influence of the environment is the much harder part.

No, we should not fold our arms. We cannot afford to.

One of the ways not to fold out arms is what we are doing here. We cannot recruit the right number into the knowledgeable critical mass IF we do not spell out how we got here so that our people do not get distracted when we begin to act to right the wrongs.

That's usually the problem. It is a "cooking stage". We must get the right amount of ingredients and condiments as the case may be and "cook" it for long enough so that we don't get spoilt along the line.

The people, and systems, that profit from the squalor we have in Africa today are not going to give up easily. So this has little or nothing to do with religion or prayers but the right education and mobilisation first.

The citizenry and average populace are worse than the leadership, we've got to realise that. The citizens voted the leaders.

So there must be no rush in fixing this system problem. Our enemies are as many within us as the ones outside our country and continent.

It is neither a talent show or life enhancing or promoting show. A show where adults are kept in a cage to freely give & take sex on National Television, while the organisers make more money from the youths.

If INEC organises general election this weekend and ask Nigerian youths to vote on their mobile phones @ N10 per SMS to elect leaders that will shape their futures & the country, they will ask Nigerian Government to credit their accounts 1st before they will agree to vote in that magnitude.

“Wasted Generation” ~ Prof. Wole Soyinka called them.

“A generation that play too much, sleep too much and engage in idle chatter and gossip" ~ Chief Obafemi Awolowo foresaw

A generation of illiterate graduates ~ Atiku Abubakar called them in 2016

A generation that are constantly not concerned about the deteriorating conditions of their senses & not bothered about their own future~ Osquare78 knows them.

We all must be wary of this generation.... they are the larger chunk of Nigerian population.

It is pathetic. 170 Million votes Multiplied by N30 = N 5.1 billion and the winner got N25 million plus an SUV worth N12 million a trip and electronics.

To destroy the future, destroy the seed (children and youths)...

Pray for Nigeria youths to open their eyes and for God to touch the hearts of those who engage in such illicit business.

Let us open our minds a little more to some of these things.

First, voting in BBNigeria is FREE. It doesn't cost 30 naira per vote. Nobody votes via SMS anymore.

2. Each person can vote FREELY, multiple times, the least being 100 Free online votes per phone number. Those who vote with their GOTV or DSTV apps can vote as few as 200 votes per week to 10,000 votes per week. So if you hear Ebuka say they received more than 200 million votes, it is because of this multiplier effect.

3. BBNigeria is a game of wits, a huge basis for Psychological Research. It is like creating a Human Zoo for people to watch other humans. The same lessons people learn by watching Natural Geographic channel on TV is the same type that is enjoyed watching Big Brother. The difference is that Big Brother teaches A MASSIVE LOT about how the demographic population on the show think.

Most housemates in BB Nigeria live in Lagos and sometimes in major cities of the world. Very few housemates live in places like Ibadan, Lokoja or Calabar. There is notable mention of Warri on the show, but only as a place, not as it relates to the business or entertainment options there.

Northern Nigeria is almost completely cut out of Big Brother. The show looks like Big Southern Nigeria. It teaches, importantly, the huge societal and cultural differences between Northern and Southern Nigeria. Besides Yusuf who was possibly from Kaduna and Ilebaye (Kogi, but possibly Lagos/Abuja raised), there is almost no one from the 12 States of the core-North on the show that should exemplify the whole of Nigeria.

We have the same problem with beauty peagents. I know, for instance that if the thousands of bi-racial Nigerians in Adamawa and the Shuwa Arabs all over Northern Nigeria were to participate on beauty peagents, few Southern Nigerian girls would beat them! These are important things about the demography of Nigeria that shows like these teach.

4. The good and vile sides of human beings are exhibited in the "human Zoo" that Big Brother is. Ilebaye would win this year's show because she had been harassed by her older housemates who saw her as a "nobody" almost throughout the show. In retaliation, Nigerians jumped on her back to shame the bullies. You wouldn't understand or appreciate that if you treat the show as well as the subtle messages it passes with disregard.

5. Many people do not understand the Psychology behind the Big Brother Concept. Primarily, it gives us the opportunity to experience what religion tells us about the All-seeing Almighty. As viewers, you get to see almost 100% of people's character: the wickedness of Venita, for instance. The child-like innocence of winner-elect, Ilebaye - even when she may innocently make honest mistakes with alcohol or at parties or with CeeC's make-up. We must realise that our Gen Z Baddie is only 22 and possibly had a very protected life before being thrown among wolves here.

6. I see my younger self in Ilebaye and I empathise with her. It is so heartbreaking to see her trying to hard to be at peace with these people and ensure she doesn't receive a third strike to earn automatic disqualification. To see almost everyone exploiting and nearly disrespecting her because many of them feel she is young and unworthy of their "class" is a shame.

6. I am comforted because the show makes viewers have a God-like view of the matters, where they see all inside and outside the house - unlike the housemates who only know what they do individually. We can see all the schemings, the desperation, the double-facing and most embarrassingly, the poor character that Adekunle ultimately is in tacitly supporting Venita as she harassed Ilebaye and undermined her as HOH. as a part of his strategy, until he served her breakfast at dinner when she ultimately brought her vile attitude to him. To hear that Venita even went to sleep upstairs, away from Adekunle, in order to get into Ilebaye's head and force her to be disqualified!

If only Ilebaye knew she has won the show already, and that Venita is a near nobody both on the show and possibly outside it... Maybe she'll not be hurt...

7. The concept of Bug Brother is to show a social experiment and teach human psychology. The series has its origin from the character in George Orwell's 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. In that book, George centres on the effects of totalitarianism, mass surveillance and repressive regimentation of people and behaviours within society. This is what the Television series models by having cameras everywhere. Orwell modelled the authoritarian state in the novel on the Soviet Union in the era of Stalinism, and Nazi Germany.

8. More broadly, the novel after which the Television series is named examines the role of truth and facts within societies and the ways in which they can be manipulated. If I had the time and means, I would write continuous academic articles for publication on Big Brother Naija. The closest short movie I have seen to Big Brother was the 1983 Eddie Murphy film, Trading Places.

9. Final advice: please watch Big Brother if you can spare the time. Ignore the obscenities. The producers have also worked very hard to ensure that nudities are almost non-existent these days.

All you have said still lead to black mentality. Go to America and see the blacks, even in the midst of opportunities they still blame the white. They live and depends on govt pay checks. Blacks are greedy and insatiable. Talk of Charity how many blacks will their estate to charity, business longevity, Imagine club like real Madrid, how many years and still existing. Which black man business will live so? Blacks problem yapka and the white ain't responsible for it.

Is it because of their skin colour?
That's a scientific question.
Is it Melanin concentration, which is the only difference between the Black and the less-Black person biologically, the cause of the multitude of problems?

Or it is that there are institutional restrictions, even in the most developed countries that see that Black people are restricted in larger number to the lower ends of the socio-economic ladder?

You wouldn't say that Black, African-American, Hispanic and other minorities in Europe and America have been demonstrated to possess lower Intelligence Quotient in schools as compared to Caucasians, would you?
