All those European countries we import milk from, the workers that process the milk and the farmers that produce the milk, the cost of production is going up over there. Prices are going up too over there.. So, cost of milk would go up, and would impact on us here.

Then there is the fact that all our governments, APC included, have not been earning us more and more dollars. Instead, na to spend dollars on import and defending the naira that is what they do. Nothing to encourage local production. Then Nigerians too....Fulans would rather continue with the inefficent method of roaming around with cows, and too few nigerians are interested in MODERN (Not archaic) dairy farming (and our state governors too no dey help matter...except to import cow from abroad, which would struggle with our weather)>

This is possibly the most intelligent comment I have read here. I have a few reservations though, respectfully.

1. I think Tinubu may actually be the best Captain to steer this ship right now. He is an experienced finance person with local and international knowledge. He is also a leader of very many great men.

If his health doesn't fail him and the politicians do not sabotage him, he knows what you have written - which I also know - and would work hard to make Nigeria better than what he met. He definitely would want to leave a positive legacy, and be the National impression of what Chief Awolowo was to Western Nigeria; something Chief Obasanjo may not have successfully achieved.

2. Voting out APC/PDP/LP is only good on paper. LP was the third option people clamoured for. It turned out that it was a mere reflection of the two parties and even had ethnic and religious leaning. So it tells that Nigeria's problem may not be the political parties, but the capacity of the average Nigerian to see the bigger picture, the broader horizon. The average Nigerian doesn't understand what it means to delay gratification.

People who cannot do that, because of the decades-old lowering of education standards, and the bastardisation of educational processes coupled with large-scale examination malpractices has led to a large population with significantly lower critical thinking abilities than what would make us compete productively with the developed world.

Nigerians simply want the soft life to be able to buy the pleasures of life. Nigerians do not understand that life would be hard to as long as the value of the naira is low - exactly as you have explained. Nigerians do not understand that even when the international commodity prices are stable (they are steadily rising), prices would continue to go up in Nigeria because the value of the naira (an import-dependent currency) would continue to in comparison with the importing currency, the US Dollar.

It doesn't matter who is the president. The price of a bag of rice or sugar or milk would continue to rise for as long as Nigeria continues to be a net-importer of finished goods and services. Even if Sultan of Sokoto and Pastor Adeboye and Rev Monsignor Matthew Kukah are President, Vice President and Senate President. Even if we have 35 other Rev. Fr Alia as Governors of the States, aside Benue where the people have elected a Catholic Priest as Governor.

It is about the economics of trade. Nigeria has to IMPORT less and EXPORT more for life to be better. It is not about any radical approach besides the written.

However, this IDAN may not be very correct. There were no air crashes in the period FFK was Aviation Minister. There were none.

There were five crashes in one year before he became Minister, and the Dana Crash of 2012 was the first one that happened 5 years AFTER he left office.

Femi Fani-Kayode FFK may be brash, but there is no point calling him a bad name in order to hang him. After leaving office, the woman has been moving from one appointment to the other in the private sector as a highly sought skilled technocrat - a person rejected and rubbished in Nigerian Public service by the hawks holding our country down.

I can go on and on about similar victimisation e.g the NAFDAC Female Chief Executive who cried out over the bribes she was asked to pay Legislators who can for oversight visit.

However, I believe I have made my point very clear. FFK may be a 'mofo' (whatever that means), but almost nobody can survive and make significant mark in Nigerian Governance as of today by being squeaky clean. They would embarrass such person out of office.

One of the challenges with military incursion into civil governance is that long-term planning social and development capacity doesn't exist with the military. Coups can also happen in such quick succession that discipline is lost, not only in the military but amongst the citizenry.

It ala creates problems for neighbouring countries as civilian-led countries would be unable to go into good bilateral relations with those led by military forces.

It was a project initiated by the incompetent GEJ administration , which was meant to be complete well before the 2014 Commonwealth Games to help us successfully bid for the games.

Unfortunately like 99% of infrastructure projects at the time the project ground to a halt and was abandoned and PMB administration restarted and completed in 2018.

So it has shut down due to low patronage , does not mean it cannot be revived in the future , especially if it is linked to existing busy rail lines .

We must do away with nepotism, corruption and mismanagement of human and material resources. All these would reduce the unemployment and delinquency in the society. It would make people less interested in going into modern slavery abroad.

We must think long-term, and must embrace delayed gratification in a modem systems-thinking approach that would guarantee long-term economic success and usher Nigeria into prosperity and glory.

2.Bank Accounts? A large percentage of Nigerians DO not have bank accounts. That's why some of us were (very tentatively) backing Emefiele's reforms....the idea was to force most Nigerians on the banking system

3.Bank accounts In some states, there are NO BANKS in many Local Government Areas (LGAs). One state in Nigeria has no banks in half of its LGAs and the other half has only at one bank per LGA.

When I served in the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC),I had to go to the LGA Headquarters for banking services . When it was banking services involving my main bank, I had to go to another state entirely. Ouch.

Online banking? There was no internet in my place of primary assignment (PPA). For internet services...I had to leave the LGA entirely.

And that was a State in the South of Nigeria. It is a lot worse in Northern Nigeria. Where I live now, there are at least 10-15 banks within walking distance. ).

You just put out some of the most salient facts in this regard. Many Nigerians, especially in the urban cities of Southern Nigeria do not understand that there are a lot more complexities about Nigeria than what their local environment or the internet seems to portray.

There are more Nigerians outside the internet and outside the Banking system than most people appear to identify on social media.

The mistake you all make, is not to use the democratic system well. Every Nigerian has a Senator that can be approached. Every Nigerian has a Federal Character Commissioner that can also be approached.
