Some schools are offering quarantine accommodation for international students, confirm from your school and if not you could raise this up as a concern Cheers SegunWamiri: @ALL, what do you think about this?
This accommodation thing is now a dicey situation. Yes, ideally one should do Bed&breakfast booking for a few days while looking around for one's most preferred accommodation but with the 14 days quarantine rule coming into play having to provide an address at the port of entry, that doesn't seem feasible. It seems one would just have to take the risk of paying for a place in absential (without physical viewing).
Abi person go quarantine for bed and breakfast for two weeks ni?? |

Well..I did a search on Bedfordshire where I live and the council has a list of registered childcare providers in that age group..anyway,my kids are older so I can't say much about this. All the best to the person searching Oloshi83: Council can’t do anything for you about childcare at that age.
Do a search for childcare providers using your school’s postcode (childminders, private nurseries etc). A lot of people keep kids at home or with family until the 15 hours kick in and then they can top it up as required. Have a look and you’d be able to work out what the hourly rate is. Just a note of warning, full time childcare is not cheap anywhere. It often costs as much if not more than your housing costs!
Alternatively, your school’s International Office might be able to help as they’d have had students in similar situations. |

The local council is in charge of school systems and free childcare systems.if you know the postcode of your school use that to search for the local council under the GOV UK website and send a detailed email explaining that you need clarification so you can plan.i know they will insist that placement will only be done when your kids are here but atleast you get a certain guidance/cost and can plan accordingly. Unless you want a private school or childcare.
All the best

The current scheme is the duration of your course plus 4 months post study visa. The proposed PSW scheme will hopefully be the duration of your course plus 2 years post study visa if qualified. I think this is a better benchmark for you to work with. (Note:some courses may include 6 months internship) Chuukwudi: Please, I was told that if you are going for a 1 year masters course, You will get 2 years study visa. If your going for 2 years masters, You will get 3 years study visa.
Is this correct? Then, plus the 2 years post study visa. |

I know this was addressed to @Justwise but I'd like to ask,why would he want to withdraw when he knows the money is for his studies though?? I think rather than restriction, you should explain to your brother and perhaps he should understand that the funds are for school. I doubt if Lien or restrictions will affect his visa but again, you never know what verification goes on behind the scene. Over to you @justwise. Cheers Sanitizer: @Justwise.
I'm not eligible to sponsor my younger brother, so I want to transfer the money to his account. The issue is that the young man might withdraw some of the money before or during visa application.I intend putting the account on LIEN/RESTRICTION. but the money will be available to him when he travels to the UK.
Will this affect the Visa decision? |

Hi Eromo, I will respond to your request and email so we don't derail the thread. Cheers Eromo10: Hi duchess90,
I only wanted to learn about Milton Keynes, Bedford, and Cranfield Village wrt accommodation. I understand the village is the closest to the school.
Are there libraries in the other cities - Milton and Bedford?
How convenient is it shuffling between city and school?
Where did you reside while you were there?
Did you work while studying?
Ceteris Paribus, I’d be going in September Just want plan where to reside. I attended the webinar last week, and there were discussions around F2F and online option(if you want and are not able to come physically).
For other prospective students, attached is a letter I came across concerning reopening of Visa centers.
Thanks
@mimilyrics, I have decided! |

They are qualified to issue a COS to work under the Tier 2 Visa, one of the routes that could qualify for an Indefinite Leave to Remain(ILR) https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/register-of-licensed-sponsors-workers @others can jump in and offer more advice if you need more Cheers Kingp91: Yes you have been very very helpful and i understandwhat you are saying about it not just being only on summer breaks because i applied for a sandwich year so i get that and on this talk about companies not being tier 2 sponsored are the big companies sponsored? Cov Uni also has a career team to review your CV and advice. They also usually have Job fairs on campus where companies come to talk to potential graduates. My only complain was that most companies were not Tier 2 licensed so it was no use for international students although i heard that was going to be improved on. For internship, some faculties esp business school help advertise internship positions in companies, i know i saw a couple at the Willam Morris building, try and find out when you get on campus but be aware that this is usually part of the study program not just summer breaks. I hope this helps Cheers Kingp91: Hi went through it some time back i have some questions. You talked about cranfield industrial connections how good is cov uni connect and also whats the possibility of getting a good internship during summer breaks? |

Your best bet is to ask the admissions team.. Different policies and merit programs exist in different schools, there is no blanket answer for this. Confirm from your school of interest brashear: Please, for those whose program' duration is two years, will they get a tuition discount in the second year, too?

I forgot to add that there are other forums Cranfield is linked on: GetHighered ,Student Circus etc .They usually hold career and job opening days,now done virtually but you can use that opportunity to see other companies . Cheers duchess90: Sorry I have been so busy..let me get to your questions now and try to hopefully give you some insights;
1. Yes Cranfield is countryside or remote
2. There are a few jobs posted on CSA in school for students, most students however work at cities close to Cranfield that's Bedford or Milton Keynes. You might be able to see jobs in sales, admin or care homes, most of them pay minimum wage £8.25 or so pending on your age,if you work within the 20hrs limit and have steady shifts then 20*8.25*4 should give you close to £660 or so.Not too bad.
3. Adding jobs and experience on CV depends on the job you get.i would advice working with the career team to restructure your CV to fit UK style and standard.
4.You have to check in with your faculty and admin team for Scholarship
5. It is cheaper to live on neighbouring cities again Bedford or Milton Keynes or perhaps Cranfield Village. Pending on your budget you can get £300 shared accommodation with bills inclusive, there are good African stores as well in Milton and Bedford. However you will have to factor in the Uno Bus Student pass £34 per month to get the bus to Cranfield
6) This is one thing I can boast about. Cranfield has a alot of industries affiliated to it .The target is to know who the contact person is in your faculty and the research representative in the Industries you are interested in, try to find a problem the industries might be facing, use one as a dissertation topic and proffer solutions. It might not be easy but it brings you one step closer to the door.If and when possible pitch in that you want to spend time after studying for real industry experience and you will appreciate the opportunity. For example my research is sponsored by 3water utilities in the UK.not an easy one but definitely worth it.
Sorry i used the word Industries* alot.
I hope this helps
All the best

Happy to hear you are making progress. I did an overview on Cov Uni Life earlier on but just to summarize, i had a great experience, Cov Uni has a good blend of Nigerians so it gives you a good foundation outside home before you start navigating your way through. By all means target the student ambassador jobs usually advertised on Moodle page. You will have access to that once you enroll. It still pays minimum wage but its a job you can put on your CV and have a reference letter for. My student ambassador profile got me a job working with the Public Health England test and trace app while still studying. Finally when you get to Cov Uni explore, ask questions, explore some more. All the best Kingp91: Thanks for your response but i already spoke to the international office and i explained my study gap but No to your questionof me having issues explaining my study gap. I am more than comfortable explaining it..i hope everything goes as planned. But how was you cov experience tho[/b] ? Was it worth it? Also plan on applying for the student ambassador job heard that pays highest compared to other student jobs around cov |

Hi Kingpin.. I was a student ambassador at Coventry, Age was not an issue then and it probably isn't now. If you are still bothered, have a chat with the international office team, and perhaps request to speak to a student ambassador if you have other specific questions. Unless you are bothered about discussing study gaps during your visa interview at TLS, if at all, you should be able to explain. I don't know what other opinion you need. You are good to go Kingp91: Can i get more opinions please |

Just to add to this, If you decide to take this option(because the decision will be made by you and your family), and if you have kids ensure adequate arrangements are made if you leave them behind and to bring them over as soon as you settle in. All the best mimilyrics: It largely depends on personal preferences. The 3rd option that I would have chosen if in that situation, is largely based on trying to avoid the initial stress of settling in along with dependants. The dependant can apply immediately the wife's visa is out to cut the waiting time. The husband can start researching jobs available in the school and surrounding areas to make it easier to find a job when he arrives in the UK. |

I think the key thing is to get your CAS issued.. Conditional or Unconditional will no longer matter. That should be the goal for anyone about to study omopapa: Usually when you get an unconditional offer of employment for example, it means you have met all the requirements of the job and fully employed
but if u get a conditional offer, then it means your offer is subject to pre-employment checks like references, CRB, occupational health and the likes
Same applies to uni, except that some unis might be using the term wrongly. Read up on the difference here if in doubtj
