4llerbuntu:Proper grounds will be whatever those who employ him decide are proper grounds. ![]() no matter what happens there will be those who believe Arsene has earned the right to call time on his career with the club, that is something we have to deal with. I have always said on here, I don't count the 5 year trophyless period as most people count, there is a time for rebuilding and a lot of that 5 year period was spent doing that and I wasn't overtly bothered we didn't win anything last season, the reasons why were obvious to me. This year, we've flirted seriously with glory on so many fronts and it is now clear to everyone the team underachieved this year. We were good enough to win things but so far have not and a thorough examination of the "whys" is critical I think Arsene deserves one more year, but believe me if we get the same next year, I will be one of those carrying placards to the emirates, what happens over this summer is critical to Arsene's legacy but I still believe he can do it. No matter what happens though, I will still be appreciative of his time at the club, say what you will about him, he will still leave this club better than he met it in more ways than one. |
Wrote my season review after we dropped out of the FA cup so I don't feel a lot of hurt and anger felt by most people, the margins are slim at the top end. We might well still win the PL by some dint of fate but a convergence of so many factors convinces me that some of our players have to walk the plank, PL trophy delivered or not. It is clear that this squad as a collective simply did not deliver when the chips were down. It is easy to go overboard with the draw at Blackburn but although it was like a final nail in the coffin, the performance yesterday wasn't all bad, we started well and looked like we could steamroll Blackburn based on the early exchanges but after Nasri's headbang and Sagna's clattering, it seemed the fight just left us. The truth is we shouldn't be where we are in the league and the league shouldn't really be our only hope of silverware at this stage of the season based on where we were in february. Like someone pointed out above, we have very good statistics (so far) its nigh amazing how we'll likely finish this season trophyless, we've even conceeded less goals than Manure (and some people still blame Kos and Squillaci as being our problem) It would be a disappointment to end this season trophyless cos this team is now good enough to win things, they say winning is an habit and there must be some truth in it (although it doesn't explain why we came up short against Birmingham who are not exactly known for winning things), some of our squad players have clearly not justified the faith the manager placed in them and seem to have a habit of not turning up on important days. We've unfortunately kept some players past their sell by date and actually gave them game time that we are more known for giving to young players. This team now stands on the brink, they might not enter the promised land this season but there is now a very strong basis to build on for the next season, the time for excuses is over, it is now time for heads to roll, the stats over the last 2 seasons will clearly show: 1. Those who haven't pulled their weight, contributed zilch to the team and MUST be shown the exit (Denilson, Rosicky, Almunia, Eboue) 2. Those who are improving and are likely to further improve and MUST be kept (Theo, Wilshere, Szczesny,Koscielny, Gibbs) 3. Those who can be relied upon as main team players and trusted to deliver and MUST be kept (Song, Sagna, Djorou, Nasri, RVP, Clichy) 4. Those who have been good in the past but have recently been off form or injury troubled this season and SHOULD be kept but with some backup coming in as I'm scared of them becoming next season Rosickys. (Arshavin, Vermaelen) 5. Those who have given steady but not stellar performances when called upon atimes in the past 2 seasons and might have also had issues with injury or form this season and COULD be kept or sold depending on what offers come in for them albeit with the recognition that they make good squad players (Chamakh, Bendtner, Diaby, Squillaci) 6. Our Captain who in my opinion has been injury ravaged this season and had to deal with an unrepentant Barcelona, definitely not a stellar season by Captain Fantastic but the lack of trophies and injury induced off colour performances would have made most people forget the 2 times he pulled us through in the CC and FA cup. I still feel Cesc should be kept for another year, but my mind could be easily changed by any offer in excess of 45m GBP provided that money is spent on a like for like replacement (Arda Turan for example excites me but there is adaptation to worry about). I must point out though that love him or hate him, it aint gonna be easy replacing Cesc Fabregas as some people seem to think. What we will also need, is one Rooney type player who simply doesn't know when he is beaten and acquires the strength of 10 men when the chips are down rather than dropping his head and feeling sorry for himself, the difference between 2 - 0 and 2 - 3 for Manure yesterday was one player. We might have found that player already in Jack Wilshere, but the boy has to become a man. |
Jencejyde:How you take know? if you don see Ashley Young, na me you dey look so but obviously he is a lot better (before these boys dem come dey yarn opats again), I only can't understand wetin he dey do for left wing as I'll be completely lost there cos I be complete rightie, all the RB need do is stand his ground and wait till I run into him ![]() |
me sef dey watch the boy, and e be like broomstick like me. ![]() his movement and skill is brilliant but if he is not protected in the PL would be a target for the Shawcross treatment, spain go suit am better at least in the early stages of his career except he buffs up like CR9. Denny will be good somewhere, just not at arsenal I think, his time here is past. |
dipo2much:Yeparipa, all you children of Anakim wey dey come spoil show for person. ![]() anyway sha, glad you got my back as per Gooner levels, make DK no dey too fell coole say na only him tall. ![]() I been don dey plan how to climb stool whoze am better slap someday because of him anti-gooner activities but now, na you I go just send. ![]() |
@Biolabee Na only capital appreciation dey since the board stopped declaring dividend right from the time we embarked on the Emirates project and started all the profit back into the club, but even that is good enough considering the rise in the stock price since the fanshare scheme started. You can check out the charts on plus markets here: http://www.plus-sx.com/companies/plusCompanyDetail.html?securityId=10092 Lord Sugar says anyone who decides to get into football club ownership must be mad but methinks Arsenal is the best financially run club in the PL if not all through europe and everyone recognizes that now, a look at Manure and Chelsea's recent figures shows 86m and 70m figures already and that doesnt even factor in the new spending by chelsea on Luiz and Torress including their wages so our much touted 2m loss which is sure to be reversed in the full year figures pales into insignificance. Arsenal should move into an era of excellence pretty soon and really start winning, the ground work is laid with a very productive academy, I am sure we will get some players this summer, a lot of Arsene's actions indicated a desperation to start winning. I think we are quiet on the commercial front because they need something to start negotiating those deals with, a PL win this season might really be the change in baton that we've been waiting for, the club is definitely moving up a gear when delivering trophies now becomes a requirement. @Jenjecyde can see Biola has posted the link, there are 2 choices for payment, Bulk payment, Direct Debit or a combination of the 2 there are some requirements such as: 1. minimum bulk payment of 100 pounds if you choose the bulk payment option (this could change as time passes) 2. Not really sure yu have to be resident in the UK, but a UK addy would help and if you pay by DD yu do need a UK bank account 3. You must have paid enough for a minimum 1 fanshare before a year elapses after joining 4. The fanshares at present can't be sold individually so its either yu're in or yu're out (this will also likely change with time) 5. When yu get to 100 fanshares, yu'll actually be given a share certificate for one share as 100 fanshares = 1 share (one can plan to get there in 10 years and target 10 fanshares yearly but if some loose cash comes along then yu can splurge and shorten the time) 6. Not much perks at present apart from being entered into a raffle to attend AGMs and other events and some degree of influence in voting which would get higher as the fanshare holding grows and of course access to virtually all the information shareholders have access to. |
Sagamite:you took on an unnecessary job no one asked of you and that does not impress me. Sagamite:If that makes you happy that yu've said something when yu've only been rambling I'm cool, I'd rather point out to you that you are not saying much. Sagamite:Amusing, is this supposed to be funny? you have given no logical reason than ask questions like a 10 year old, you asked some questions which I answered up there. You say your arguments have to be ridiculed but they don't need to be, they already are ridiculous. Sagamite:and you really think there are any real intellectuals following this jumble of nonsense? Sagamite:Exercise your self assumed considerable intellect and go read the legal basis of marriage and exactly what people are saying when they affirm "I do" and the various laws that govern that institution in the society where these cases take place, then maybe 5% of what yu're saying will make some sense. Sagamite:I have better things to do at present than to reply to babbles, maybe when I have some idle time, I'll indulge you. |
Good job jare Debo, I know say one day you go make us proud. ![]() |
biolabee:The purpose of the fanshare thingie is to ensure we never fall into the hands of a single individual, I was a pioneer member and I get half year updates. we've already contributed money worth about 400,000 pounds by january (within 3 months) and had bought about 27 shares, a drop in the ocean considering there ar 62,000+ shares but then we've started small. The activity of the fanshare scheme has further driven up the share value which was trading at around 10,900 when the sharescheme started but has now gone up to 11,600. Most of the individual shareholders preffer to sell to the fanshare scheme than to Usmanov, Kroenke can't buy anymore or he will trigger a takeover bid which can't succeed at present and will therefore require him to sell off some of his holding by force to get below the 29% threshold again. |
biolabee:Not really, I'm at work and had to evacuate the building due to a fire scare. |
Sagamite:If at all I erred, in my understanding of what you meant, then it is because you were not clear in your statement, it is absurd for anyone to refer to themselves in the plural. Sagamite:Another abnormal behaviour, why would anyone urge someone to consider them what they are not? ![]() well that is your own wahala, whatever rings your bell. Sagamite:Your perception of sanity is different from another persons, from the perspective of those who made those laws you would as well be considered insane, silly or just plain ignorant to not understand what they are supposed to do for society. Sagamite:a) Yes it is not her money but she is entitled to a portion of it by virtue of marriage b) She doesn't need to, by virtue of marriage laws she is entitled to it c) irrelevant d) she didn't place a gun to his head when he made the choice to marry her Sagamite:Well, a sane society doesn't agree with you so you can draw your conclusions as to your own sanity. Sagamite:you're a bit of a clown. what 2 famous words? and what concerns me what your famous words are? ![]() call me whatever you want and stop feeling self important, you should know that not everyone is overawed by pompousity. Sagamite:Have you for a second asked yourself why Paul McCartney found himself in the court in the first instance? Is Paul McCartney the only parent? or because he is the richer parent that means he should be the only one who determines what the child should or should not do? Sagamite:I find it funny you sound so illogical yourself and accuse someone else of illogicality. 1. You are not Paul McCartney 2. You were not married to Heather Mills 3. You do not know the circumstances surrounding the marriage except that which you read in some papers 4. Paul McCartney has never complained to you 5. A competent court took a decision after listening to both sides and you're here talking of logicality? Maybe if you stop being so full of yourself, you might start to make some sense. Sagamite:Yes, marriage is a contract and if terminated like most other contracts have penalties which can also be waived depending on circumstances. What you should be asking is what the penalties are and not whether it is by force to remain married. The fact that it can be terminated alone should already tell someone who considers himself logical that it is not by force. Sagamite:No, I think it is you who needs to enhance the depth of your reasoning, it is quite shallow, one sided and myopic. Someone else could argue that Heather Mills is already getting less than she bargained for when she originally married Paul McCartney because she thought she was going to be with him for ever. Your point is simple and seems reasonable to you but isn't in the eyes of the law. Yes you can marry and divorce when you choose to but you should look before you leap because there are other lives involved and the law will fight for those other lives. If you can't see that then I give up on you. |
@biola Make we go discuss gooner matter for gooner thread. |
Sagamite:That is still an arrogant attitude, why on earth would you presuppose to speak for everyone reading? many of whom you've never even met to know their minds in case you've forgotten? thats an abnormal feeling of self importance. ![]() The forum already grants me the right to express myself, so I need no one's approval. Sagamite:Good for you, I've not said yu're arrogant, but yu've exhibited arrogance as I've pointed to you above. Sagamite:Well, it is left to the judges and lawyers to argue that out, if they've proved she is worth that much and a competent judge accepted, can you kindly point out your own reasons why you think she is not worth that much? ![]() Sagamite:You seem to be a very self absorbed person and give no thought to how your actions affect others at all and only able to look at things from a narrow and self seeking perspective, I'm struggling not to call you outright selfish. Are you aware at all that people would know that this girl is Sir. Paul's daughter? ![]() So while growing up she should not be able to appear in the same settings as all of his other children? should feel disadvantaged because her mum divorced Sir Paul? Can I ask a simple question? did Sir Paul actually ever complain to you? are you sure even his legal team didn't agree that the daughter was entitled to that amount? ![]() Like I said and for emphasis, I'm not discussing individual cases here, it is the concept that Divorce settlements are wrong that I find silly. If you want to argue about Heather Mills then open up a thread for Heather Mill's settlement. Sagamite:Nothing has happened to human rights here, a matured individual went before the courts (or some spiritual or earthly authority) and committed to a marriage, probably has a child in the marriage and now wants to back out of it, there are penalties to pay and it is called being responsible. Like I pointed out, the law also gives you an opportunity for a pre-nup so be wise and go into marriage with your eyes wide opened. |
Sagamite:Firstly you think too much of yourself to think yu are granting me any freedom of thought, that statement is unnecesarily arrogant. I require no such freedom of you, I have it already. Secondly, Heather Mills had a child for Sir. Paul and while everyone sees her as a gold digger (which I have no doubt that she is) should Sir Paul's daughter also suffer for the public perception of Heather Mills? From the judge's perspective, the child is entitled to the same quality of life she would have been entitled to if Heather was still legally married to Sir Paul and on the basis of that Heather Mills lawyers argued she was entitled to such an amount and the judge agreed with them. You can choose to believe what you want about the fairness of the settlement but that was the way the judge saw it and I'm bold to say that they have access to information that you still don't have till now. I have not looked at the Miller case, but were you there when this man was toasting this woman and what he promised? You might not view it thus but like someone said previously, no one has the right to say he took someone from the streets and wants to return her there, that person in their own way have contributed something to the man's life whether he acknowledges it or not. You are already taking up a position here that the man was treated unfairly without considering all the facts. It might not seem so to you but divorces are emotionally unsettling and that is enough cause to seek financial compensation. I am not arguing the fairness or otherwise of individual cases, you can try opening up individual threads for each one and lets discuss the merits and demerits of each case or better still if you get the opportunity to meet the judge of each case, ask them why they made such rulings but to call divorce settlement nonsense is for want of a better word pretty silly. If yu're scared of being exploited, then the law also gives you the option of a pre-nup so both of you are going into the marriage with eyes wide opened. |
The law is an backside but most judges I know aren't and if you look deep within these cases, there are reasons for most settlement decisions taken which might not be immediately obvious. Yes, some women are gold diggers but then some men are also stone hearted b*stards and people do exploit the law for their selfish gain. You make the greatest mistake in life when you draw general conclusions without looking into intricacies of individual cases. There is nothing wrong with divorce settlements, it was primarily drawn up in the past to protect women who had sacrificed their own careers to raise their kids while the men progressed with their own lives and careers, there were cases in the past where 30 year old marriages ended and devoted wives were left to pick up the pieces of their lives at old ages without any marketable skills while the men went with younger bimbos, surely that can't be right? ![]() |

@biola A lot goes on in the background that you and I never get to hear about, or maybe we get to hear about it when someone writes a book or babbles to the press. Arsenal are also never public about our transfer targets until it is either done or it becomes an open secret. Its Bob Wilson who has said this and not Arsene so there must be some truth in it. I heard the rumors in the summer but didn't believe it either but then that is Arsene for you. Did you also see Petr Cech's interview where he said he could have moved to Arsenal in 2002 if not for Work Permit issues? Congratulations to Aaron Ramsey on becoming the Welsh captain, youngest ever football captain in the history of Wales at 20 years. |
dayokanu:Sharrap dia jare, I retain the rite or right to make fun of my gooner padis dem. yur thread don lonely again? |
biolabee:Yes it is true, it is an Arsenal legend who has finally validated it, something in the range 20 - 25m was offered. We heard the rumors in the summer and it was obvious the way things started off at the beginning of the season that Arsene was loath to put his faith in youth again with the way the likes of Denny have wilted under fire. It is a testimony to the quality of Szczesny and Wilshere that they've earned their place and not had it handed to them. It also shows we have money available, though I would point out it is not in the chelsea type 70m range and that is why I believe 1 or 2 really elite quality players are coming in this summer to strengthen the squad. |
@Dr Kit Why yu come spoil market like this naa? just when I was setting up a paypal account for gate takings? ![]() anyway, I knew you and Jjcd musto make up in the end, I was only hoping it wouldn't happen in a bedroom. ![]() |
RIP Liz Taylor, an epitome of beauty and quitessence of the celebrity lifestyle in her prime. Her name was always on my mum's lips while I was growing up. Have to give her a call and find out how she reacted to the news. |
For the smart, this is the time to load up, if another insane bull run like happened in 07/08 before the slump in 08 comes along again, yu can be sure I'll be smiling to the bank. |
Demdem:When the going gets tough the tough get going ![]() tarry awhile and things will get better, the market is bloody at present and anyone who is selling now is likely making a loss. |
Someone explained it thus, that they sold off some fixed assets to generate money which they then lent out. That would agree with this statement in the post:
Ndukuaba said Access Bank has been able to achieve decent growth in gross earnings (6.0 percent below our 2010 full year forecasts) based on its singular drive to sustain a circa 10.0 percent growth in credit, albeit with enhanced focus on only top-notch borrowers and, by extension, asset quality. This was pretty much against the run of play, given the general decline in risk asset creation by Nigerian banks in 2010.
The results would suggest that they went against the prevailing general banking industry sentiment, a bold move to swim against the tide I must say. They did increase their gross earnings while the others had reduced gross earnings. It is a risky venture though but then you can't make money without risk anyway. If those credits they gave out become none performing then some major schit will hit the fan like happened generally in the sector in 2008 but if they keep performing, then they've turned some dormant fixed assets to money to generate even more money for their shareholders. |
Yup, Access bank's Fixed assets took a massive nosedive, would be interested in someone explaining why that happened. |
dotman:That is one of the reasons why some are poor and others rich, some are only interested in the news about celebrities therefore putting more money in the pocket of such celebrities and potentially pauperising themselves in the future, some are interested in financial news to learn the latest emerging opportunities and may become the moneybags of tomorrow. Some are also able to maintain a healthy balance between the two. ![]() |
Dr. Kit, where I dey when all these underg moves dey go on? and who exactly was fckucking who? are yu saying I showed up late at the parry? I no know say na 'Wild West' dis place be before, na Naruto I search take reach this website in 2007, I no even know say Arsenal thread dey dat time. slimshay:Na who dey fight? oya place ya bets 1/5 odds that Dr. Kit will undergo another transformation. ![]() |
hannie:Dr. Kit I no dey o, jejeli diss Coach Kenny o make him boys no come do royal rumble for your backyard ![]() Jencejyde comes highly recommended sha, no be beans to do wetin e don do as I never do pass 'boolu alafesegba' 5 a side for weekend throughout my life and I'm sure Bendtner's touch is at least 10 times better than mine while Denilson would likely complete two 5 meter laps while I'm still halfway through my first lap, but even experts miss the obvious things atimes so make we just disagree without fighting. @Dipo The truth is that you can't really correct anyone on this forum, even the mods who ban have their work cut out. But it does take 2 to tango and if you don't take the bait people generally quieten over time. Some people will always rub you the wrong way, thats a fact of life. Dr. Kit is Dr. Kit and not everyone will get along with him at all times but then he is still a contributor as everyone else. Lets not take ourselves too seriously, life no hard reach that one. I'm sure Dr. Kit respects Jencejydes pedigree even if he doesn't own up here. |
dayokanu:When we come to the conclusion that he is responsible for our being trophyless . At Arsenal we don't fix blames, we fix problems. ![]() |
