Kudos guys, look forward to when you'll also move into the young adult and General family entertainment markets. |
StarBoard:Yu'll get an explanation by this time next season. ![]() in the interim stop showing off your macaque genetic roots. |
coogar:Sure, and yu feel yu're doing any dicing when yur knife is as blunt as a rubber sphere? ![]() enjoy yur victory and don't delve into trivialities, if you still need to come to this thread with 2 different handles after Manure's victory then yu must be some very vindictive soul in dire need of some serious help. I would wish very much for your well being that you really aren't. |
StarBoard:Why do Starboard and Sauron always show up about the same time and have a similar writing style laden with insults? SMH, some folks are just plain kiddish. |
coogar:We shall see next season, chelsea did a double only last season and are winning nothing this season. Enjoy yur victory and stop typing tripe. |
coogar:I know thinking deeply is a bit of hard labour for you but do try some more. You can only come out and sound a bit intelligent when your team wins, so you seemingly can't make a difference between cup competitions and a league for example would you say the Arsenal team that got to the final of the UCL in the 05/06 season had a better overall quality than the invincibles team that went unbeaten just cos they didn't reach the final of the UCL? ![]() And I did not say it matters how Manure won the league, they were definitely the best team in the league this season, the league table is evidence of that, they are however still a team in decline. |
HNIC:Extended a record of consecutive goals scored away and 16 goals scored and counting. |
@tkb417 You were right, experience and know how won over in the end but next season still dey o. The legs are getting even more tired (VDS retiring, Giggs, Scholes and Rio one year older) and I still don't see top notch quality coming in though I'll make an exception for Hernandez, I hope he experiences a 2nd season syndrome next season. |
dayokanu:are we talking about 12 months ago or this season? the day Arsenal ends up 16 points behind Aston Villa in the PL as yu were behind Dortmund at some point this season is the day I will not only ask for Arsene's head but also move a motion that the club as a whole should be disbanded or undergo a change of name. Shameless big for nothing club in a small bundesliga pond. ![]() coogar:See who is asking, where were you when Chelsea was hot on your tails? infact where have you been since only god knows when? |
@Dipo2much Don't mind Cougar jare, can he come here and tell the everyone what has happened to his favorite player Ravel "the next best thing" Morrison who is better than both Gibbs and Wilshere? ![]() |
coogar:I still stand by this one, its not exactly as if Manure won the PL at a canter anyways, this is the lowest point haul to win the PL in recent years, to put things in perspective the max number of points Manure will win the PL with this season (82) is less than the point haul of the Arsenal team that came 3rd in the 07/08 season (83) so while I agree that the Arsenal team hasn't advanced this season as expected, the Manure team has definitely dropped in both consistency and quality, maybe my predictions were a season early. Anyway, thats a story for another day, congratulations on your expected victory and hope your team don't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory as ours have been prone to do this season. Will you now stop chronicling my odyssey on nairaland, unfortunately I've spent the money I could have used to commision you to write my nairaland biography in paying off my betting losses. ![]() |
dayokanu:Go siddon somewhere jare, will I be the first person to lose out on a bet? ![]() any which way, go and plan for your new season, I wonder why yu still get mouth to dey yarn on another club's thread sef when your big for nothing club is the greatest underachiever of all. At least Cougar and co have something to gloat about what have you got? |
StarBoard:and your totally dead one is now emmiting EMI cos Manure won the league, congratulations. ![]() |
coogar:Hardly surprising thats the only thing you see in all the information presented. Its a good sign of a one track mind. |
@Debosky Well done jare, I nor just get time for all this megedefegede as A-40 calls it. Didn't we all see how this Manure squad was fumbling about in the darkness when Rooney was out of sorts earlier on in the season? even Bayern's mighty Fumblesliga army were out of sorts when Ribery and Robben were out earlier on in the season. Yes everything is not about money, but to say that money doesn't play a part is arrant nonsense, Arsenal is a team that rubs shoulders with the best teams out there but spends a pittance compared to them, it would either take a period of time for the youth project to finally come through or a massive alignment of heavenly bodies to win something like the league. The Cups are a different prospect though, there is no excuse to not win the CC this season but then we all know luck has a higher effect in cups than in League competitions and the manner of our loss was not without some element of serious bad luck. |
Goal.com report on spending in the top 10 in Europe and preparation for the FFP, who is bottom of the table yet consistently shows up in europe? see for yourself. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2885/europe/2011/05/11/2478867/how-will-10-of-europes-biggest-clubs-cope-with-financial |
dayokanu:Story, story, Stooooory. ![]() |
dayokanu:Good for you but yu still ended up trophyless. ![]() |
dayokanu:Whats quality about your mumunich players who were out of the fumblesliga title race after 14 games? ![]() |
4llerbuntu:4llerbuntu, this is not true, where are the managers who are getting these players cheaply? in terms of player price/quality comparisons, Arsene is one of the best out there even the English media doesn't deny that. If you had to go out and buy players like RVP, Cesc, Wilshere and Song you would know how much you would need to shell out. I hope you know that the costliest player in our squad is Arshavin for 16m? do you know how much Rooney and Berbatov cost? And yes, he is responsible for every player but yu should also factor in how much he had to work with in maintaining the squad, bringing through new talent while maintaining a level of performance. At the end of the day the man can only do his best with the money available to him. I remember people laughing on here when I said Arshavin's signing was delayed due to money issues and some on here said it was someone on the board who insisted that we should buy Arshavin. The truth is that Arshavin was bought only cos we were in danger of missing out on 4th place at that time, the fact that we have not bought any more expensive player since then lends credence to my stand at that point in time. People belittle what this team fights against in terms of resources. |
Donlittle: fair point |
Horrible story, not stereotyping or anything but if this was alleged to be a UK carrier, a full scale enquiry would be carried out but I don't trust the french. |
I am certain there will be changes this summer, Arsene really believed these boys could do it but he was let down by some of them when it mattered, players like Cesc had to come back when not fully fit or to salvage ties to lower opposition when they should have been rested while others like Rosicky and Arshavin lost their places in the squad. We were only lucky some players like Wilshere, Nasri and Szczesny also stepped up. If we keep the top performers and replace a majority of the none performing ones with quality players things should be a lot better next season. |
proudly9ja:I think Liverpool had just hit rock bottom by their standards and the only way left for them was up. ![]() now that the pressure is off they are just enjoying their game cos no one is demanding anything spectacular off them at present, with Arsenal we never really hit rock bottom no matter how the media, disatisfied fans and some rivals paint us. Suarez's movement and overall work rate has also added a new dimension to them and if you compare that with Torres still being out of sorts at Chelsea and the fact that Torres was never really a hard worker, the reason why they didn't do well under Hodgson becomes immediately obvious. I think a call can only be made on liverpool's improvement by the middle of next season.(remember Arshavin's initial gra-gra that won us a top 4 finish in 08/09) before his true nature as a player came forth? Di Matteo was just not given enough time to turn things around because the board never had faith in him as they always felt he didn't have PL experience who really knows if he could have turned things round, every team goes through blips and the outcome (based on the board's expectation of where the team should be) at the end of the day is the only justification of any decision taken on a manager (in a rational scenario that is and not the types of Hughton's sacking at Newcastle or Abramovic's removal of Mourinho at chelsea where it was just beef or dislike), you strongly believe that changing Arsene will turn things around for the better, a whole lot of people (including the board) are realistic enough to know that this is not guaranteed, a change can make you go up or totally pull you down, so you need to consider if the board are quite aware that Arsene is doing enough with the resources he has or even overachieving with it even if you don't have the same opinion. Maybe all yu really need to do is readjust your expectation as Debo suggests and take each season as it comes (until we start spending 70m to turn our season around like chelsea even though they still will end up trophyless and I'm not so sure they'll be much better next season because that was money spent to improve a sqad that did a double in the last season) , we go for all trophies and see where we are at the end of the season. The only thing Arsenal can guarantee for fans for now is a top 4 finish as we have consistently done that for 14 years. The buzz from the media last season was that the spuds had finally caught up with us after making the UCL but are they in the top 4 this season? NO is any one asking for Harry's head? NO I foresee someone slipping out of the top 4 again next season but I'm almost 100% certain it won't be Arsenal. |
proudly9ja:I noted it too and called my brother immediately to ask him if he saw a 5ft 7 chap winning an aerial battle against a 6ft + chap. I guess thats the difference between winners and losers. |
debosky:True words, the team was set up to keep the ball moving and sacrificed a bit of the physical size advantage which costs us on set pieces. If we were more productive when we have the ball it wouldn't matter much. 30 mins into the match possesion stats was Arsenal 72% Stoke 28% yet we were 2 goals down by the end of the half. That is why I believe our problem ultimately lies in our opponent's final 3rd, if we are more efficient in putting teams away, the odd set piece goals won't cost us so much. the problem for this team is down the flanks on both sides, all the time our MF keeps possesion, our wide players should be making life more difficult for opposing defenses and full backs rather than the usual Arshavin style of passing it back. A quick question I will ask is when last anyone saw either of Arshavin or Theo competing for an aerial ball and winning it at either end of the pitch. |
Everybody have spoke, now its time for me to spake my speech. The sudden turning on players at every mistake is appalling, Even at the height of JD's popularity this season (and he has been very good for us) I always pointed out he has concentration lapses, maybe now that there is not really much to play for, he has reverted to type but make no mistake about it, he is a good player who had a bad game. Can we make a point of not calling for player's heads without giving reasons why and try to avoid making these knee jerk reactions. This team has quality (which they showed by beating Manure just last week) but like most young teams can be very erratic. People should stop calling for Cesc's head abeg, Cesc is not the kind of player who will be replaced in-house, if we lose Cesc we will have to hit the market for sure so even if you don't like him abeg show him the love even if it is the kinda love you show in feeding cattle before you slaughter them. If that boy wants to engineer a move away, no matter the contract we have with him he will or have people forgotten Rooneygate and Fergie's emotional agriculture lesson so soon? ![]() This title was not lost yesterday so I wonder what all the bile is about. It was lost a long time ago, I don't think its healthy for peeps to go overboard at every loss haba, get it together. |
beejaei:According to that bolded portion, the chap is suggesting that might is right because nature says it is so. I find it amazing that there are still people who think that way. I'm sure the people in the mental health industry will have some colourful name for such a mind set. |
Timi1990:Jeez, what kinda jungle is this chap from? very soon yu'll be asking us to select our president through some kinda WWE Royal Rumble because its natural for the alpha male to lead the wolf pack. ![]() |
4llerbuntu:This is not really about who is right and who is wrong (and it is quite possible for 1 person to be right and others wrong, if you go through history yu'll find ample examples), it is basically that we see things differently which is why I say that anyone who sees the team as bottlers is welcomed to such a view, I see the team differently but stand accused of seeing the club through rose tinted glasses. ![]() Your statement in bold actually backs up Debo's point, should outsiders really be giving more excuses for the club than those who call themselves fans? one would expect a rival fan to play down our achievements and magnify our failures but why does it seem that Arsenal fans favorite pastime nowadays is to be at the forefront of pulling down the club they claim to support? I'm not pointing fingers o, just asking rhetorical questions. I'm all for calling a spade a spade but the way things are going some arsenal fans might just end up worse than DK at finding something negative to say about the club and that would be taking masochism to a whole new level. You have been warned. ![]() |
dayokanu:Champions league ke? or 3rd round Champions league qualifiers? ![]() |
proudly9ja:@Proudly I don't think anyone has ever said we shouldn't spend money if we have it, what we fail to find consensus on is exactly how much we have to spend and how to better spend it. Some believe they know more than those who have the full picture of the situation when all they actually know are bits and bobs while others like me believe the board and Arsene are making the best of a not so good situation. and that "bottler" concept is yet another media cliche that they will stick to until the team wins something, good for you if you choose to believe it. |
