ionsman: Can the Tanoids get more stupid? TARABA STATE
The three-member tribunal held that Mr. Ishaku was not validly nominated as candidate of the PDP and therefore did not qualify, from start, to contest the governorship election. Specifically, the tribunal held that the governorship primaries purportedly conducted by the PDP in the state was done in violation of section 78 (b) (1)(2) of the Electoral Act which guides parties nomination to the position of governorship candidate. It held that contrary to the provision of the section, PDP conducted the purported primaries at its national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja with no clear delegation from the local government areas in the state. The tribunal sustained the testimonies of the head of election monitoring of Independent National Electoral Commission that the commission was not aware of any primaries conducted by the party in line with the provision of the electoral act which produced Ishaku as the party’s flagbearer".
RIVERS STATE
The spokesperson of the party in the state, Chukwuemeka Eze, confirmed the development to PREMIUM TIMES. “Yes Hon. Dakuku Peterside was unanimously endorsed in a peaceful atmosphere. It was done in a family affair and there was no bickering at all,” Mr. Eze said. He also said by the decision of the caucus, the forthcoming party primary in Rivers State is expected to merely confirm the selection of Mr. Peterside as a formality. Also, the Rivers APC Chairman, Davies Ikanya, who addressed the press after the meeting at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt, said the decision of the caucus is not final as primary election will still have to be held to ratify the decision. “There must be primary elections for all positions in the APC. So, we will not jump the gun,” he said.
FYI information, Jonathan was also adopted by the Pdp before the convention.

Gr8amechi: if there is a rerun then pdp will produce no candidate, abi u no code Exactly. The time of holding primaries have passed, and PDP can't just endorse any candidate anymore. Only those who were qualified to run in the last elections would run. Again, PDP candidate wasn't qualified to run in the first place, given his emergence. So, no matter how you look at it, PDP would still be ineligible. What PDP should have done was to endorse Ishiaku Darius. There was no need for primaries. That would have taken care of this whole brouhaha. But they had to take their primaries down to Abuja, which was their undoing. |

omolami: 36 ministers suppose to emerge for the Nation. What happens is that each state governor nominates ministers from their respective states to the FG. In this Buhari's dispensation, it was not so. Governors had no say on who was nominated for their states. Buhari solely selected. This was not the norm in the past and it is dictatorship and complete act of impunity on the part of Buhari. Surprisingly however, no governor is talking because they fear Buhari who they say the body odor/language makes them quiet..If Amaechi was to be the chairman of governors forum and GEJ president, Amaechi would have by now be fighting the president. Meanwhile the Zamfara state governor who is currently the chairman is either playing ethnic card or is just docile, As is all your threads, you haven't made a single valid point here. There is no where in the constitution where it's stated that a governor must nominate or endorse a candidate for the ministerial slot of the state. It was simply an undemocratic tradition under the PDP. Buhari, as an APC member and a true democrat, doesn't have to toe same line. |

No, but this muslims want to impose a woman governor who never won election by the total votes cast as the governor of our dear state. This case is unique in the sense that, the tribunal didn't just sack the incumbent, it also ordered that Aisha Alhassan should be immediately sworn in. To the lawyers in the house, does this mean that the incumbent will immediately vacate his seat for her, while he seeks redress at the appellate court? |

agabusta: Baba that is the work of smart lawyers. Identify loopholes and then take advantage of it!
GEJ caused this. Instead of him to allow PDP primaries to be free and fair; he was busy manipulating and moving primary election to Abuja.
This is a victory for democracy!
Any president that intends to manipulate a primary election by moving it to Abuja will think twice before doing that. You are on point, man. |
