I’m trying to renew my child’s Nigerian passport and was told he’ll need a NIN before he could apply. Please how true is this for children under 16 years old.
Also i was told i have to apply for my NIN first (even though i’m not applying for passport renewal at the moment) before my child could apply for his NIN.

NIN registration is £40 per person. I just don’t understand all these unnecessary costs as a result of passport renewal.
Please where can I do it?

Ok. This is fine. I guess we can just stick to that. 1% fee for security is far far better than that extra money we make from p2p. Make person no go prison for something wey you no do. If not that binance actually has those transactions records, am sure our brother story for different. Make we just thank God for am.

Thanks for the update.
Yes the fee isn't much. I was just greedy and wanted a little more and now I am a bit apprehensive.
Binanace is likely to pass your details to HMRC for tax purposes though, so set some funds aside for tax. wink

Abeg if you try the direct bank own and e work you let us know. I was using the direct deposit for naira then before they discontinued it. The difference is just small fraction. Atleast that one go better pass these whole wahala.

Also I go advice make you use UK bank wey de accept and sell crypto. I think sterling and Revolut are the two I know. I don’t think I have seen anything crypto on Monzo.
I withdraw to my bank card and as at last week it was still working with 1% fee. It is instant as well.

After 3-4weeks of the trade, I received a letter from my bank that my account is on review. Also a letter came from the police inviting me for an interview regarding a money Laundering allegation. At the station, I was given a list of sellers on binance that reported my account to their bank. The report made was that I scammed them on a telegram investment group.

The only solution is to sell to ppl you know. selling for naira and exchanging to pounds may be another option but losses go dy.
Wow, an I just used the binance p2p to my UK bank since p2p to naira has been disabled. I hope no one comes after me because I hate wahala. I will just use the direct deposit to my account from Binance instead of p2p for my own peace of mind. Thanks for sharing.

@Lexusgs430

Really appreciate your advice and guidance regarding the issue with my bank. After 4months of dragging, ALL my funds have been returned.

For those trading on UK Binance P2P, trade carefully both with merchants and individuals. A merchant account and some other individual accounts tried to chargeback thousands of funds from my account after 3weeks of selling funds to them on Binance P2P. I think this merchant owns most or all of the other accounts.
Please do you mind sharing how it happened and how it can be avoided/addressed?

First, one minute silence for your money.
Now, what is "dependant package"? Do you have a spouse or parent in the UK?
If yes, why are you using an agent and not your sponsor?
If not, then do not give them your passport or 10 year ban is loading.

It can be difficult to find on the aisle sometimes. I can bet that I have bought soap before thinking it was body lotion. cheesy
The shelf arrangements need to be looked into in some of these stores. Check Savers, lots of varieties at decent prices.

Please I need help with a kids cream (body cream). He has passed the baby stage. We have stopped the baby stuffs. We have been using sanex kid soap, but We never see cream since. I have checked Morrison and asda. Also asked the people who worked there but they keep directing to the baby section and na baby lotion de there (asda).

NB: If the complexion is necessary, The baby is fair and becoming lighter in complexion.

There's several options. We just use what's readily available - Johnson and johson baby oil, there's Dove and also the regular baby cream. For our eldest, we used the baby cream variety till he was about 3 or 4.

Okay Thanks, I wanted to ask about certification that one needs to have in order to be qualified to work as an electrical engineer(majorly wiring and maintenance).
2. Is it possible to get a job(Sponsorship) from Nigeria here in Electrical engineering field.
Thanks.
On number 2, it is possible but may be difficult. The easiest way may be through a recommendation or intra company transfer.
I do not know about wiring certifications required but for Electrical engineering, being an IET chartered engineer is good to have. I suggest you look at several job boards - LinkedIn, indeed etc and send out applications or enrol for a masters degree and then use that period to apply for jobs in-country.
You could also explore the tier 1 exceptional talent route. For that you need the endorsement of the royal academy of engineering. You can google and get more information online. IT route seems to be easier than Engineering but it is definetely possible. I wish you the best and Happy new year. @dupyshoo, any other tips for him/her?

I did the test on Friday and immediately sent back via post same Friday. (Royal mail)

Till today, I'm yet to receive a mail from the AIS covid people. I was thinking it's 24hrs? I'm super tired mehn.
If you posted it on Friday, that means it will probably be delivered on Tuesday since Saturday was New years' day, no work on Sunday, Monday is bank holiday.

Sis, I have lived in India when I was doing some IT training. Those people are something else. They are geniuses. Trust me. They are just suffering from same thing Nigeria is suffering from “Corruption by people in power”.

Any country wey China de fight. Investigate that country, cos China get eyes well well and them know people wey go take over the world last last.
Geniuses? I am not sure. I work in Engineering in the UK and I have worked with a lot of them across several companies and yet to identify any as a genius.
There are very competent ones, just like any other race but one distingusing feature is that some of them are very competitive. It may be due to the nature of their educational system where competition is very high for the best schools and jobs. Unfortunately some of them take that competitive spirit too far by trying to pull others down, especially if they perceive you to be a threat (My Nigerian friends across different sectors have experienced this several times).
They also have an advantage, at least in my industry, that once you are Indian, there is a presumption of competence (which some comments here also seem to suggest) and that give them an edge but having worked with them, I know better. But they are generally hardworking.
TheGuyFromHR is right, let's not use our deficiencies to rush to conclusions and genralisations.

I use binance p2p. P2p is good but you just have to be careful. Early this year some of the guys buying coin will go and report to their bank that they mistakenly sent money to your account then the bank will start processing refund for them. When your bank contact you, you can’t say it’s crypto. Story go full everywhere. I had one Ghanaian verified merchant who told me about the trick, he lost some money.

Someone tried it with me and Revolut. I quoted all the personal information protection rights and financial service rights I learnt in one of my cyber security classes. I even threatened Revolut that I was gonna report them and personal investigate their service. Last last Revolut refunded my £640. After 1 month they sent me a mail that they are sorry they won’t be able to offer me their services again And they gave me 1month to transfer my money from their account for them to close the account. I used everything I learnt in security class for them. The process took almost 3weeks.

1. When using p2p here in the UK, only use merchants with high number of transaction and also high % completion rate. For example, someone with 300 transaction and 96% completion rate is a good merchant because for you to satisfy 300 people no be small (mind you for Nigerian p2p look for people with thousands of transaction).

2. Try to use same person or max two people regularly. Don’t change people sending money to your account to avoid your bank investigating. Remember only business account get payment from different people all the time.

3. Try to do max one or two transaction weekly. That way it looks like you get paid for a particular service you render weekly or for a job. You can be keeping all the USDT you want to send and send them once (like on Mondays or Thursday’s). To avoid getting cash trapped, when you need more money, you can do it like paying yourself weekly. So you have extra even when you don’t need the money. Then the days you need more, you won’t be stuck.

4. When transacting with any one avoid either you or the person stating that the money was for crypto sale or using any crypto related terms. By these I mean the reference for the transaction. Use simple things. To avoid your bank closing your account. Easy way is if you have a Revolut account, use Revolut merchant so that when there is an issue it’s just Revolut investigating mr A and Mrs b since both are their customers. To be honest issue no de de for same bank.

I think na the ones wey I fit remember for now be that.

Best of luck.
Nice one.
I had a Nigerian guy underpay me some months ago. He paid 10% of what he was meant to pay, luckily I was able to easily verify from my account. When I contacted him, he feigned ignorance but later let slip that he didn't have enough in his account when he was trying to pay me the balance and so he will have to pay me from another account.
Another tip I learnt is not to accept payment from a different account to that verified by the merchant on Binance. This is so that they don't use someone else's account to transfer the money to you, leaving you liable to pay if it was unauthorise by the person. If they do that, ask for a reversal after raising it with binance.

I just met this beautiful girl, and I'm already all over her.. She's not in a relationship but definitely guys are disturbing her even her ex's.

I asked her to come over to my place and she did, we went out together and get some stuffs and we head back home(my place). So, I decided to ask her out one on one in my place and she said NO, she's still finding it difficult to go into another relationship.. When she left my place for her house just two byke away, someone stole her phone from her bag(she called me to tell me) the bag was open by the time she got home.

My question now is, should I ever think of getting her a phone? I still don't know my stand in her life, I really love the girl but ain't acting like a simp whatsoever.. But the fact that she lost her phone after leaving my house is what bothers me.

Please what should I do?
If your phone got stolen on your way home from her place, will she buy you another one? If she will, then buy her one.

All the ECO wants to know is who will be looking after those kids while you study since the daddy will not be traveling.

Single mums do get a visa but you have to convince the ECO that your kids wellbeing in the UK is taken care of.

Even as your mum may likely come but she is not part of the solution visa-wise.

1. Arrange school/day care for your kids that covers time and days you will be at the university

2. Contact the day care/school and make inquiry then get respondent evidence for visa purposes.

3. Provide financial document to show that you are financially capable of taking care of those kids for the next one year

4. Explain this in a letter to the ECO that you have made arrangement for your kid with evidences and attach them to AR package.

I thought she is here on tier 2 visa. Otherwise, she should just chill and visit them during her school holiday.

In addition to what others have suggested, you can have other family members come to help you if possible. Say your mother comes for 5 months, then your mother-in-law can come for the next 5 months and then they can rotate.

This Lemonade Finance app is awesome. I wonder how they are able to achieve and sustain this excellent transfer rates. I have always used worldremit for years, but I decided to try this app today. Transfer was done in less than 30 minutes, exchange rate is 50% higher than worldremit. No fees as well.

There has to be a catch somewehere, this is just too good to be true. Circa N720 odd exchange rate when all the market leaders are all offering circa N550 odd.
Stopped using worldremit 2 or 3 years ago. Until the recent ban by the CBN, there were apps that you could use and get much better exchange rate than world remit. No catch, the street exchange rate is still higher than what they charge.

So imma share my recent experience on traveling with Infants with expired passports incase it helps someone.

1. Your infant or child or you self can travel to Nigeria with an expired passport if they have additional citizenship from USA, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia. It’s on the Heathrow travel guide for Nigeria so please print and take to the airport with you incase the person checking you in is unaware.

2. Upon arrival, only 1 immigration officer asked why our kids had expired passports and we said we couldn’t renew it due to Covid restrictions and it’s associated issues. We weren’t asked to do Visa on arrival or ETC or any such thing.

So if you find yourself in a similar situation, fear not. No need for ETC or hustling to do passport in the UK especially if it’s inconvenient. You will be allowed to board.

MBA is good for career change and advancement but to get the most out of it, it has to be a decent MBA. Aim for the top MBAs in the UK and if you try hard you may get a job offer. For HR, no need for MBA, your BSc is sufficient or even A levels sef but coming from Nigeria, I understand using the student route.

You didn't state which type of visa you will be using, that may affect the type of job you get.
For HR, you do not need a degree to get a HR role. CIPM may help but MBA is an overkill. Lot's of HR people in my organisation I know did not have a degree.

Don't mind them!! One was complaining about less than £100 visa fee. I immediately directed him to UK visa fee page to see how much UK charge for visa. He was very surprised

I asked some at work to try to answer the life in the UK test, all of them failed the test. This is what they subject immigrants to.

I always try as much as possible to educate the ones around me so that they will stop seeing immigrants as scroungers.

Till date, the one that pains me the most is Theresa May scrapping the ILR fees of about £70 for EU citizens after Brexit to "reduce the financial" stress/burden on them. angry
What about others that pay thousands, is that not burdensome?

It's still your decision. Nobody is forcing us to come to the UK. It's because we have made our own country undesirable. We have to live with their rules unfortunately.

You are even talking about entry clearance. Wait until you have to pay for ILR. When I told my British-born colleagues how much you have to invest before you can become a British citizens, they were speechless. One of them even mentioned that the money is enough for house deposit, which is the truth.

A lot of British people have no idea how much people pay before they get ILR/Citizenship. They grumpble about the NHS and benefits not knowing that a large percentage of immigrants do not take out more than they contribute to the system.
