No he wasn't. Houston has over 2 million people and the metropolitan area over 6 million.

It would be a logistical nightmare to evacuate within days of the storm. You will have thousands caught up in traffic gridlock and invariably in the hurricane leading to more loss of lives.

in reviews i read, statement of such were credited to it, they were comparing it with an Audi RS8 in that review, i will not call the nissan GTR a crappy car, a car with V6 3.7L engine able to do 0-62ms in 2.3secs, i respect it all the way
That is a minority view and not always as you stated but I get your point.

But the GTR outperforms the more expensive RS8 who would even call the GTR crappy in the that scenario

I dont think that is the issue, even the Nissan GTR Nismo with all its almighty performance and lesser than $100,000 is always referred to as a crappy attempt at sports car, i think (my opinion oooo) is because of its Japanese.

Those who can afford such cars want the hype and status symbol not really the performance
The GTR was not referred to as a crappy attempt at sports car.
It was hailed as a very good unpretentious sports car that out performed expectations.
So much so that it was being compared to much pricier super cars.

That is how it took them 12 yrs to design the new Acura NSX and still nobody is buying it. They prices that crap at $156,000 yet people would still prefer to buy Ferraris and lambos for $300k plus.

sooperrescue:
Buy Chinese tyre. They are durable but like someone stated, check the date it was made and then ensure it is temperature A and the speed rating should be V or W or Y. There was this customer who wanted to buy good tyres for his Acura TL . I brought some Chinese tyres for him at 22k each. He frowned and said he needed good and well known brands. So I called for Bridgestone at 55k each and he was glad. He just bought the car and even brought Pennzoil from the Us for oil change. On his way to PH, at Ijebu ode, those potholes with sharp edge tore the sidewall of one tyre and he was not happy. He managed to get to Ph and was asking if I could send him the Chinese brand he rejected. I begged him to please buy it in Ph. Just buy the Chinese tyre. The Dunlop and Michelin tyres available are all are all temp b tyres. Go to any Dunlop tyre changing shops and you will find temp b tyres on their racks. I once had the e240 but the 1999 model, a 12 plugs v6, don't buy any dead tyre for that machine. 180kms is very easy to attain with good speed index tyres.
Did he use the recommended tyre/ rim size cause that is a major culprit. There is a tendency for the users of certain brands to piimp their rides into oblivion.

apart from Haida I don't personally know the others. Haida has a poor rating in my opinion tho....

Did you check out brands like Atturo, Maxtrek, etc
Dunlop and Michelin are the lowest priced first grade tyres.....

Dunlop perhaps.
Michelin is certainly not low priced.

Indonesian tyres are somewhere in between he could opt for those e.g. forceum....
TravelRe: Air France Leaves Lagos-bound Passengers Stranded In Paris by eaglechild: 11:28pm On Aug 26, 2017
DrMuzungu:
My friend... it has always been like that with French or Turkish Airlines. I am not a Nigerian citizen (I travel with one of European passports). And yet, back in 2003 I had to sleep over at CDG because the mumu agent who was booking my ticket Nigeria-Europe-Nigeria did not realise that there is only like 10 minutes between my landing in Paris (on my way from my home country to Nigeria via Paris) and the departure of my flight to Nigeria which was not enough time to change flights. Only one nice lady at the airport (staff!) directed me to terminal B which was the only terminal open during the night, for people stranded like me, so I have spent the night there along with a bunch of Russians (which was fine, at least someone to talk to). It wasn't directly the fault of Air France. However, if not for the nice (French) lady who told me where to go I would keep wandering around till morning.

On another occasion, I came to France by car for some business... Try to order your meal if you don't speak French, hahahahaha. of course there are some nice people in France. But, unless you meet someone you personally know, most likely they will refuse to help unless you speak their language. I have never experienced that sort of attitude in Germany of Netherlands. Not ONCE!!!

And that is why I will use Air France only as the last solution. To me, it goes in this particular order (if I can afford the ticket, that is):

1. Lufthansa
2. Turkish Airlines
3. all other airlines going my way
10. Air France

And mark my words, whatever the reason is for this delayed/cancelled flight, they will not do a thing to help the stranded passengers. Germans, at least, would provide makeshift beds, some water and some basic food, for those who can't go out of the airport.

Oh, anyway, according to some EU regulations, if the flight originates from the EU, or has the final destination in the EU, it IS subjected to laws and regulations related to cancelled or delayed flights. I advice ALL passengers on that flight to file a class action lawsuit against Air France if they don't do anything about it.
I wonder where you visited in France but I must say that it is very unfair to expect every French person you come across to understand English. Britain and France are the main colonialists in Europe and their citizens are the ones least likely to learn other languages for obvious reasons.

Car TalkRe: It’s A Woman. It Must Be A Woman. by eaglechild: 12:03pm On Aug 25, 2017
"Nah woman" , I think arises from the frustrations that impatient and reckless drivers face when trying to cut corners.
Women are less likely to squeeze through that ultratight space that will enable one evade traffic jam but will rather wait (and rightly so).
Women are less likely to allow that shuttle bus that broke the queue and is hanging precariously at the edge of the gutter or driving against traffic to cut infront of them and get back on the line. This equates to traffic jam and blame of course goes to woman.
They are less likely to speed up and beat the traffic light before it goes red making you wait. (Inside you are already saying "if no be woman both of us for don cross) Unfortunately you know she is right by slowing down.
And yes they have less reservations about tipping that over manoeuvring keke or bike into the gutter, after all, it is not a bendy contest, you should have waited.

Definitely there are exceptions. Some women (just like some men) are outrightly reckless and even bully danfo drivers and those are the ones that receive "hailing".

Cattle do not rush into the roads. This isn't to say that it is proper for livestock to cross major roads but road users need to be more aware! I see them many times in a hurry to meander through cattle crossing road impatiently. Note this: if a car hits a cattle, the cattle will win.
Cattle CAN definitely rush into roads if they are not properly herded.
They are also prone to sudden movements.
Besides they narrow the roads making it difficult for motorists to manoeuvre.

HealthRe: NOIPolls: 88% Of Nigerian Doctors Seek Job Opportunities Abroad by eaglechild: 1:33pm On Aug 04, 2017
ceaser:
Over the past 6 months, twelve (12) doctor friends have escaped for their lives into countries such as UK, SA, Australia, Canada, US, Germany, in that descending order. 9 of them are practicing doctors in their various destinations having written and passed the professional exam requirements of the various countries before leaving Nigeria. Others are there on postgraduate studies, but their target is to write their licencing exams and end up practicing medicine there.

My sibling is currently on the second step of the licencing exam. Close to 500 medical doctors sat for the IELTS earlier this year compared to just 30 four years ago.

Meanwhile, the useless health minister is currently brewing more problems in the health ministry and the agencies under it viz:

NHIS: Attempting to sack the NHIS executive secretary because he would not meet Adéwolé's unscrupulous financial demands and looting of the NHIS in connivance with the insurance providers.

:In the various Teaching Hospitals and other federal tertiary health institutions, there is dearth of doctors. In some, new house officers have not been employed to replace the ones that have left for over six months. Meanwhile there are hordes of fresh medical graduates who have been searching for places to do their internship as required by the MDCN, without which they cannot proceed to full registration from the provisional registration they currently have. If they fail to do internship within 2 years of graduation, they risk forfeiting their provisional registration status, needing them to resit the medical qualification exams all over again.

The so called residents exit the system when they complete their training. New residents are not employed to replace those that have exited the system leading to a pile up of aspiring ones with primaries qualification out there not getting places to run their programme. Meanwhile the primaries requirement for residency expires within 5 years if the bearer does not find a place to run his programme, also requiring his reapplying for and re-writing the primaries exams (which I think costs about 90 thousand naira currently)

Now here is the plot: The names of the house officers and the residents that have exited the system are still kept on the payroll of the hospitals and the salaries still come with the hospitals' allocations, but these ghost workers' pays are shared by the hospitals' accountants, MDs/CMDs/CEOs and also staffs of the federal ministry of health under the tutelage of the minister himself. Meanwhile the consultants who exit the system after training also are in their hundreds hunting for jobs out there.

Another favorite pastime of the Minister of health and the hospital CEOs as I am made to understand is to deliberately keep creating and fueling chaos in health sector amongst professionals (eg Johesu vs Doctors). This is based on the principle of "making more money in times of chaos and wars" and this is achieved through the release of various contradicting circulars from the ministry itself on a simple singular, straightforward issue.

Equipment's and infrastructure are all at an all time low. Only 3 centers in the whole nation boasts of a radiotherapy machine, the three not functioning optimally all at the same time or at any one time. If the Federal government ever budget and release the monies for such, the FMoH and the various hospital CEOs will rather spend the money allocated to procure such or at best get mediocres and second nd replacements and share the remains of the loots.

These are just a few of the evils that plague that sector in the country and is partly responsible or the unremitting brain drain.

It is germain that journalists an writers who are the conscience of the people (masses) understand the workings of this intricate machinery constructed by the various saboteurs in the health sector thru which they loot funds, inform the public appropriately amd even some workers in the health sector as well, who have been successfully brainwashed into believing that mutual suspicion is the panacea and acting out the script of their puppet masters (FMoH and the hospital CEOs) ia the solution.

Ceaser writes in from Lagos for Nairaland editorial.
You have a good grasp of the goings on in the health sector.

The alarming thing now is that an increasing number of newly qualified fellows are leaving the country. These are people that have spent years in specialist training.

CelebritiesRe: E-money Sitting Room Vs Shina Peller Sitting Room, Which Do You Prefer (photos) by eaglechild: 8:21pm On Jul 29, 2017
LordAdam16:
How people reduced this to a tribal debate is beyond me.

E-money's sitting room is a classic design. Peller's is a modern design.

Most folks with "old" money, scions, peerage, royals, politicos would choose E-money's setting every single time. It never ages. Most old, vintage buildings (stately homes) in Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East and Presidential (and Monarchial) Palaces have a variant of E-money's setting for that reason.

On the other hand, most folks from the wretched to the upper middle class, new money, professionals, tech billionaires would choose Peller's design. Many won't be able to stand living in E-money's setting day in and out. But it comes at the cost of expensive refreshes. While classic design is ageless, modern design evolves. In 10-20 yrs time, Peller's design would be an eye sore.

Modern design just doesn't make sense for most "old money" folks. No history, way too common, and it's fleeting. Rather than spend money on a new decor every decade, how about using that money to buy a new painting at an art auction, or expanding the wine cellar or sth; the first is a needless waste, the last two are spends that ironically keep money in your pocket. And even tho' the cost of maintenance for a classic design is on the high side, that's what servants and estate managers are for.

Which do I prefer? Neither.

Both work for the people who use them. The bourgeois can't all afford a classic design, and new money want to seen as forward thinking so modern design every day of the week. On the other hand, most of the 1% and old money grew up in homes with a classic design, have a legacy and it is only fitting that they go for things with heritage--a Rolls instead of a Maybach, French/Italian wine instead of Cypriot wine ... classic instead of modern design.

-Lord
Finally someone with a brain comes along.
Thank you so much for your honesty.
