[quote author=invisible! link=topic=31554.msg1994546#msg1994546 date=1203968043]Dull in here this evening, as the gurus are holding on tight to what they know. Policy of non disclosure and coded statements.
Sending tips and analysis to their mailboxes. I have a suggestion, why not you people create a cipher code and be using it here so as to exclude the non gurus from using the tips?

Easi - thanks man, i have been looking for 22feb data, as ZSL no gree update their own
Since ZSL no gree, I copied it from nsepro. Diff formats na im cause the chaos. Let's try again below. Most of you will have to clean out your CSV files. See how to do that below:

In your windows explorer go to

C:\Program Files\AptiStock\Data

Delete all the data files/folders in there (it will only confuse and clutter your software)
If you do that, download the pre-2008 data here and re-import that as well.

I apologize again. The sofware is v sensitive to formats. I'll keep an eye out in the future.

AGGGGHHHHHH! Another error! I copied the data from 2 sources and one puts a space after names while the other does not. I will fix and repost in ten minutes. Delete all your CSV files for each symbol and re-import what I'll repost.

Thanks for this bro - its very interesting, and i'm sure, useful for the immediate future but it has not answered my question. There is an excel document called the NNSE that Easimoni usually provides at the end of every week. . .  but sadly he has now stopped, i'm sure he didnt know that people like me found it very useful - perhaps because we never made mention of it.
I used to use it for my little analysis but now that i cannot get it at will, i want to know how to find it by myself - somebody please help
The thread was updated on Sunday. Sorry for my tardiness.

@aktopgun, on unity bank, unless i'm looking at the wrong price list, I see that it traded above 10 today and closed just shy of 10. Also, the average price for today was higher than the last closing. Don't these indicate some buying pressure?

The list i'm looking at is the TRW list.
From nsepro.com, the avg price was 9.73 (below the close but above the open); looks like a lot of indecision to me. Buyers should place limits and proceed.

Windy, when are "we" exiting Niwicable? (The thing don turn "Yahooze" money for my hand o, 30% in 6 days!)

Russia's UC RUSAL restarts Nigerian aluminium smelter
Fri 22 Feb 2008, 12:48 GMT

MOSCOW, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Russia's United Company RUSAL, the world's top aluminium producer, has restarted Nigeria's sole smelter, which had been idle since 2000, UC RUSAL said on Friday.

UC RUSAL said in a statement it planned to completely modernise the Alscon smelter in southeast Nigeria so that it can reach full capacity of 197,000 tonnes a year in 2010.

It said total investment in the smelter's upgrade would be around $300 million.

The smelter was built in 1997 but produced just 40,000 tonnes of metal before closing three years later. RUSAL paid $250 million for a 77.5 percent stake in Alscon in February 2007.

The plant had originally been expected to restart in December, but this was delayed by a dispute with the local community over dredging of the Imo river, and the kidnap of six Russian workers at the plant in June.

The hostages were released unharmed after two months in captivity.

The Nigerian government retains a 15 percent stake in Alscon, while Germany's Ferrostaal AG has 7.5 percent. (Reporting by Aleksandras Budrys, Editing by Peter Blackburn)

Yes u did, but really i love to trade on the secondary market not because it is expensive but for the interest of not waiting months to get certificate, i would take advance of the market at any point when i guess my interest rate is good enough to back out and also invest in a kobo shares where i can accumulate more units than the Naira shares were i would have to wait for a long term and to be frank the insurance sector (Lasaco,Goldlink,Universal, MBenefit, and some other small sector like the 2nd tiers sector,Industurial & Domestic sector) are doing me enough to think of the big boys sector ,
Bros, you have the "nominal price syndrome". The price of a stock (and thus, the # of units u can afford) has no bearing on the degree of profitability to expect. Granted, cheap stocks tend to be volatile (note I said volatile: first to go up in a bull market and first to drop dead in a bear market) but some of the best stocks are in the 30+ range. I've bought an N18 stock and watched it quadruple to N70 (Wapco a couple of years ago), so no reason to believe "big boy sectors" can't deliver too

AKT, I hail too.

@ All who bought Longman,

Hope you watched it hit a brick wall at N30.00 today (gravestone Doji a la AKTopcandle). May be worth divesting if this was a CICO for you - the next direction is likely to be some blood-letting. I'm not divesting because the FY 07 PE is ~ 18, one of the better stocks in my 'folio.
wanaj0:
Guilty as charged but with explanations. Just after the offer, there was a policy reversal as per deregulation. That basically impacted on the business of OandO. Based on that, they started re strategising focussing on Gas and the Upstream sector of the oil and gas industry.

For the kind of opportunities in the upstream, huge capital is needed. A single deep water well will cost in the neighbourhood of $40m to $80m!!!!! So huge capital is needed contrary to the marketing that they do cash and carry making use of the 40days credit by NNPC.

If OandO gets the oil filed, it will improve the cash flow and they will immediately become a MUST BUY
You are WELL informed.

Aside, OandO will likely be doing an offer soon on top of the $200m loan they've just syndicated.
It took 3+years for people to break even from the last Oando PO. Dunno why anyone would invest in the next one.

my respect for you just multiplied (irrespective of your support for Bill Belicheat  tongue) based on your Transcorp yarns oh and thanks for the Niwicable tip. 'folio is smiling

To all those mad at the FG, let's wait for the details to come out. I worked in the deal-making department of a major oil company and our partners often wrote penalties for failing to meet performance milestones into our contracts. Who says the FG didn't so the same? The ability to make measurable progress to revive NITEL may have been a condition of the sale. No one can argue the fact that lil or no progress has been made (still don't know anyone with a NITEL line).

The beauty of a thread like this is the diversity of opinion and tools available for decision making. Personally I don't place much value on candle talk. but for die hard short termers it is an invaluable tool. Me, I don't trust the charts. The charts for transcorp up until the day of the reversal would have given no indication of the possibilty of such fundamental happenings.
That said I believe that everyone is welcome to contribute what he has to the development of this thread. Whoever is not comfortable with a particular method can just ignore any mention of it. I actually skip a lot of the information on this thread. I take what I can use and leave the rest. That I don't like amala does not mean they should not sell it in my favourite restauarant.

By the way Easimoni, I looked at your your recent upload for this thread, was really amazed how you came by all those data and the patience you managed in compiling them. That's really painstaking job.Very commendable.

I used it to further my research on Union bank. Was scared by the share outstanding you calculated for them. You increased it from 11b to 14b. Remarking on it you said there is a 9billion goodwill to be written off.
Didn't really understand how paying off goodwill increased the share outstanding. Is there some sort of conversion at work?
To the 1st part: thanks

To the 2nd, I increased the # of shares because of the last bonus issued (1-for-5). The 9B in goodwill has nothing to do with outstanding shares; it's just a reminder as to why UBN's results may not be good for FY March 08 but should subsequently improve quite dramatically. Since you noticed, watch out for Union post-FY announcement.

Hi All,
Isn't CSCS trade alert supposed to be error free?

Twice now that I have noticed, their trade alert figures have not matched the pricelist on various websites.
Today for instance, they reported the following prices for these shares I disposed:
FBN, N49.80
GTB, N36.74
UBA, N49.95

I have checked across various websites and can't find a match for them even in the fluctuations.
These same shares when they were bought were some kobos higher, now in selling they are some kobos lower.
What's going on? taxation or what?
According to my FSDH sheet, the lows for the aforementioned companies are
FBN 48.75
GTB 36.36
UBA 49.81

Your broker sold your shares within the day's ranges. Abi did I misunderstand your question?

@ CrazyT,

I support your comments that your holdings have questionable fundamentals and it may be wise to get out. Here are my views on your suggestions for replacements;

PZ: no, no growth
Costain: red hot, don't stop a moving train. Besides I thought you got some last year when the rest of us slept on it.
Arbico: who?
RT Briscoe: yes yes yes. My own 'folio just got five zeroes' worth  grin YE is round the corner. Solid bonus history
Dunlop: the turn-around story that (never) was? I have not seen signs that they are back in the black but I defer to Wanaj0 and wendy (our very own oracles grin)

May I also suggest UBA (or am I flogging a dead horse), Longman and Trans-Exp

Sorry, inserted wrong quote previously.

I noticed the list there is quite old and some companies are not listed. There was another list attached by I think is Samstone (not too sure tho) that contains a current list of the companies. Infact Fo2 gave a special gratitude to the list at that time. It was in January, let me go through all the pages i guess while waiting for some one with it to attach.
Sorry for being adamant but I need it quite urgent.
