Even though your logic is right, PMI is not that expensive. I also used to think like you with an Ultrconservative approach to investing. Thank God for reading some books and speaking to some people which changed my outlook.
For example, a property I acquired early COVID, I payed only 5% down for a 450k house. PMI is $1800/pa, avg 150 / month. House has appreciated in value and is now about $780k. You can do the math on hiw much equity I have accrued. I used the capital I would have used in down payment on one property to buy several. My average APR is 2.75, my only regret is having not started earlier.

sonnie10:

With 20% you won’t have PMI on your bills. That would have reduced your monthly payment with about $500 monthly.

I might be wrong, but I think you are taking this too personally. It's a rule of thumb that if you want to carpool, you should offer to chip in on the cost of gas. It's part of Oyibo culture. If I were in your shoes, I'd offer to pay her what you typically pay for bus ride. You should know that gas is expensive in the UK. You might be helping her today but she may save your life tomorrow.

Chikes album has been on repeat on my Spotify endlessly for almost 1 year while driving and at home, same with many of my acquaintances. He's one of my favorite naija artist at the moment as he's one of the few naija artist that make real music.
He earns in dollars and remember that $200k dollars is about 150 million nara now.
Running has 52million YouTube views, Roju has 12million views and many other of his songs.

@OakPearl, Yer Yer and others....Please always try and share this type of information on this forum when you about to make this type of move grin....I think that's the essence of the forum. Just my opinion oh Thanks

That was a risky trade. When people make such trades they are glued to their screens monitoring the charts and trying to make the right call when to exit.

Just 10 minutes delay can lose you loads of money so you don't want to tag people along in case if it doesn't go as planned.
When going into such trades, there's no guarantee of making a profit, there's actually a high probability of losing money.

I guarantee you that for every winner posted here, there might be about 5 people who lost money.
Day trading is not for the faint hearted, more than 50 % lose money.

So I believe it's best to post well researched calls for short term , medium and long term investments.

Guys keep an eye on (NYSE:SPAQ), They just merged with the EV maker FISKER.

The merger was to act as conduit for FISKER to enter the stock market.
They are already up about 20% in pre market trading. I believe they should have a decent rally.
Please do your own due diligence.

Heartbreaking to see it at $4.70 right now.
I can still see its a buy even though its above its 52wks high.

I feel your pains. Please don't beat yourself up too much.
It happens to the best of us.

Saw it @ $3.31 over the weekend.
I put a limit order for $2.80 over the weekend.
Just before market opened , it was at $4.10
I was waiting/hoping for a pull back. It never happened. I finally entered at $4.50.

As I type this, it's trading at $5.80 . Even though I am up 30% , I'm a bit disappointed cos I didn't quite get the volume I'd have wanted.

We just have to lick our wounds and be in the lookout for the next gem.

I have no interest in Trove whatsoever , but staying silent and watching someone needlessly malign and impugn someone else or business is against what I stand for.

I think we need to stop this culture of silence in the face of evil and injustice. Because in keeping silent we aid and abate bad behavior.

You cant trade that stock anymore
It's that simple

That's just it

It's so simple.

Also a volatile stock may get a stop and restart at every 15 minutes intervals which was what happened in her case.
so your sell order on such stock might not be filled.

Why don't you process sales of stock immediately? And if you won't do it immediately due to your numerous incompetencies, why would you return it as failed when the value of the stock is still the same?

Typical Nigerian, never takes responsibility for their actions.
From your comments, it's obvious you have limited knowledge about how the Stock Market works . I suggest you do more research and studying to better equip yourself for the realities of investing/ trading in stocks.

I wonder why you find the need to blame someone despite having been given an obvious and clear explanation of why your trade didn't go through.

Please stop trying to blackmail someone else's business. I doubt you have any idea what it takes to set up an online business.

This is exactly the reason why online businesses hardly thrive in Nigeria.

Vindictive and disgruntled customers trying to run you down just to get a pound of flesh for something that's entirely their fault.

I suggest Mods put a disclaimer on this thread that Stock investment is not a get rich quick scheme and there is a real risk of losing money.

He's an extravagant fellow biko. Patapata 500 dollars will go for monthly bills, 300 to send down to peeps here... Unless he has an ongoing project o.

You don't really understand how bills rack up in the U.S.

This is a peak into what a monthly expenses in a middle class home with 2 kids may look like.

Mortgage = $2100
Cable = $120
WiFi = $70
Phone bill = $80
Water/ sewage = $88
Electricity = $115
Gas(cooking ) = $28

Home insurance= $120
Healthcare insurance = $260
Car Insurance(2 cars) = $145
Home owners Association Dues = $85
Student Loans = $700

Feeding, Groceries, Gas (Petrol), Tolls and Miscellaneous = $400

Total = $4,300

That is approximately $52k yearly, without including taxes.

It may be lower or even higher depending on income, neighborhood, state or lifestyle.

I hope this helps you understand better.

This can be particularly painful.

I experienced it recently, after shelling (dashing) out $3k to assist in buying a ride for bolt / Uber.
Just a 1 line whatsapp msg saying, thank you I got the alert.
No feedback about the car until about 4 months later when he needed money again.

Then Nigeria should veto this request then (you will find out who has more influence). Again, you overnight American lawyers: Flynn, Roger Stone and all Trump's cronies can be pardoned as the US president deems fit. The inspector general, an official of the executive branch, serves at the pleasure of the president and can be fired. All the president needs to do is provide the senate a reason within a stipulated time. Relevant US senators are requesting this and will get it. If Adeshina has nothing to hide, let him allow an outside investigator look into this. Again, only the board of governors can vote him out. They seem on his side so he has no worries.

Thank you for acknowledging that if African countries align with Adesina (which they seem to do) then he is fine.

Just like Trump has the constitutional rights to fire the Inspectors General, the people in AfDB also has the right to vote who they want.
It's not even up for a debate

Steve Mnuchin can only rant to the press.

When Trump was screaming "America First", he never knew there would be consequences.

Other countries are beginning to occupy the vaccum he left in different global institutions with his "America First" policy and he is now just throwing Tantrum all over.

Left Paris Climate accord.
Threatening to leave WHO.
Next he would threaten to leave AfDB.
Nobody Is Indispensable.

I would also advise you not to appear condescending to people on a faceless forum.

You took a jab at me calling me an "overnight American Lawyer".

What if I am one?

Decorum and respect are virtues that great people tend to have.
You might need to work on those... Cheers

Dtribeless:

To stand up to the US, just give them their funds back. Shikena! In the US, everything is investigated. Sorry it rubs you the wrong way, but one would think Africans would welcome investigations, given how their funds are pillaged by those in power. Please read the below from the report:

"Regarding the TAAT initiative, a funding programme for Africa’s agricultural sector, Adesina discusses at length the payment, which the whistle-blowers consider to be suspicious, of a negotiated contract of over $5m inked with Syngenta, a Swiss seed company.

Although the conditions under which the contract was awarded did in fact violate the terms of the agreement signed by the AfDB and TAAT, the Nigerian bank boss claims that the primary purpose of his intervention was to protect the bank’s reputation, as it had received threats of legal action, and to ensure both the quality of the project and future compliance with contractual rules."

POINTS OF CORRECTION

1. If the U.S is not happy with the outcome of the decision of the board, they should withdraw their funds if they want to. It's not going to be the end of the world.
Too bad Nigeria has superior veto power compared to the USA in AfDb.

2. Everything is not investigated in the US. Same administration that found way to exonerate convicted criminals, Gen. Michael Flyn, Roger Stone etc just because they are Trump's cronies.

The same Trump administration that fires any Inspector General that seek to investigate it?.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/05/15/politics/state-department-inspector-general-fired/index.html

Their hypocrisy on this stinks to high heaven and their agenda won't pass.

Even Libya + Ivory coast has enough vote to overrule US on this.

Cry me a river Mnuchin.

Nairaland famiy I need help.

Somethings been eating me up. I had sex with my boyfriend some weeks later i started falling so sick I will try to point out all I can remember
*Came down with what I felt was fever was burning hot so hot you just need to come close to feel the heat

*at night I sweat. Not just the usual sweat but one I have to change my clothes two times a nigbt(this happened for like a week)

* I started feeling so cold especially in the morning. Doctor said it was pneumonia + a cough that lasted for three weeks plus.

*and the rashes I ve never have in my whole life spreaded all over my arms and back as well as my breast region.

* I also had serious muscle ache. Serious that my mom had to help me massage it. My neck did hurt too it felt like someone hit me with a blank on my neck

* nodes on my neck, groin, as well as ear.
* I started having blurred vision and sores on my lips like fever blisters

* and then injuries in my mouth, weird ones
* I have oral trush at least thats what I thought them to be. White tongue I have had this before but this onr is different. With slimy white things in my mouth every time

*I also experienced dehydration and dry mouth.
* also had a delayed flow

The symptoms are so much I can't even mention it all. Most of these lasted for about a month +. I still have cold till this day. I shiver most times and its my major fear. And the rashes are still there.

This Is the major problem. The nurse who was handling me said it might be an STD maybe HIV I took plethora of test including HIV after 3 months all came back negative, I was told to wait 6montgs to check for HIv again it was still negativr. During this month I have seen so many doctors, private and government all they do is givr me drugs but I still experience the pneumonia cold( no cough) and occasional mouth sores as well as the rash. My boyfriend now my ex took HIV too it was negative.
Please doctors in the house what can this be. I have read so many threads here on naira land of people who had same experience but some later turned + they might be lying though.

I heard after 6 months and test is still negative then its not it. My question now is. What is wrong with me. I have spent so much on drugs and test. And no doctor is able to say what my problem is. Its making me crazy as I am even scared to shower because of the cold and I can't let people see my body due to rash.

I need help.

I have read through about 6 pages but I couldn't find any decent answers given to you so far.

What you have is most likely INFECTIOUS MONONUCLEOSIS also called KISSING DISEASE . It's caused by a virus called Epstein Barr Virus ((EBV). It's usually gotten from kissing.

It's usually a self limiting infection and manifests with the symptoms you listed. ( sore throat, body pain, fever, night sweats. easy fatiguability, easy satiety , weight loss, generalized lymph node swelling). The skin rash is usually caused when you take a penicillin based drug like amoxicillin or ampicillin.

This could also be associated with Cytomegalovirus infection (CMV).

The disease is usually self limiting and can be prolonged in people with some forms of immunodeficiencies e.g Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVI).

This disease can only be diagnosed in a specialized lab i.e Virology Labs via tests like PCR (polymerase chain reaction).
More than 98% of labs in Nigeria cannot conduct these tests.

Your best bet in getting a definitive diagnosis is seeing a hematologist or an infectious disease specialist in a Teaching hospital. A general practitioner might find it difficult to arrive at the correct diagnosis.

While you a waiting to do that , you may benefit from taking antioxidants eg
Vitamin C , Vitamin A and E.

Good luck.

Time heals all wounds.
I was once in your shoes several years ago when I broke up with my girlfriend of 3 years. she was really really beautiful, in and out and we are so compatible that i was scared i would never find a girl i love, which is as beautiful and who would love me as much as she did.

It took me up to 1 year to get over her. In that period, I dated several crazy ladies, but I have to keep dating to find someone that would make me happy.
I only completely got over her after I met my wife who is more gorgeous, affable, loving and caring.

I feel part of your problem is because you are having financial difficulties.
My advice is , work harder, try to straighten out your finances, keep dating people no matter how empty and void you feel doing it. Also try to keep busy , go to church, parties, hang out with friends. whatever makes you feel better.
Cut her out if you can, in my own case, I cut her off from social media but we were communicating over the phone once in a while. Like a brief 2- 3 minutes call in every 1 -2 months.

Bottom line is that only time can heal your heart and you would struggle to love another until you get her out of your system.

And if this comforts you, you feel the way you feel because you truly loved her and you are afraid you may never love anyone as beautiful as she is. But if you open up your heart, you can love again eventually.

WHAT IS BITCOIN?

IT'S CALLED MONKEY BUSINESS

A long time ago in a village far far away.......A lot of monkeys lived near the village.

One day a merchant came to the village to buy these monkeys!

He announced that he will buy the monkeys @ $100 each.

The villagers thought that this man is mad.

They thought how can somebody buy stray monkeys at $100 each?

Still, some people caught some monkeys and gave it to this merchant and he gave $100 for each monkey.

This news spread like wildfire and people caught monkeys and sold it to the merchant.

After a few days, the merchant announced that he will buy monkeys @ 200 each.

The lazy villagers also ran around to catch the remaining monkeys!

They sold the remaining monkeys @ 200 each.

Then the merchant announced that he will buy monkeys @ 500 each!

The villagers start to lose sleep! ... They caught six or seven monkeys, which was all that was left and got 500 each.

The villagers were waiting anxiously for the next announcement.

Then the merchant announced that he is going home for a week. And when he returns, he will buy monkeys @ 1000 each!

He asked his employee to take care of the monkeys he bought. He was alone taking care of all the monkeys in a cage.

The merchant went home.

The villagers were very sad as there were no more monkeys left for them to sell it at $1000 each.

Then the employee told them that he will sell some monkeys @ 700 each secretly.

This news spread like fire. Since the merchant buys monkey @ 1000 each, there is a 300 profit for each monkey.

The next day, villagers made a queue near the monkey cage.

The employee sold all the monkeys at 700 each. The rich bought monkeys in big lots. The poor borrowed money from money lenders and also bought monkeys!

The villagers took care of their monkeys & waited for the merchant to return.

But nobody came! ... Then they ran to the employee...

But he has already left too !

The villagers then realised that they have bought the useless worthless stray monkeys @ $700 each and they are now unable to resell them!

Nobody has use for stray monkeys....

The rush into trading in Bitcoin is the next *monkey business*

Once the trading stops who will want to buy a digital code with no intrinsic value?

It will make a lot of people bankrupt and a few people filthy rich in this *monkey business*

That's how *Monkey Business* works

Spare a little bit of your time and read up on blockchain technology and how it is changing the world. It is almost applicable in all sectors of human endeavor.

It's not all about bitcoin, it is about the blockchain.
