While the brutal massacre of the unarmed Shia Muslims in Zaria was unjustifiable, that lachrymose incident was preventable. We all saw the online footage of how the military chiefs pleaded with the Shia Muslims who were on procession in the street to allow them to pass. It was insane to stop the military from moving around the same country they swore to protect with their lives.

The video showed the military heads plead with these people for hours and several generals in the convoy intervened, but that wouldn't even make the people give way for their passage. The generals begged and explained to these people in Hausa, but they wouldn't let them pass. I am sure that they wouldn't spend up to 20 minutes to wipe out every soul in that group if the incident happened somewhere in the South. Despite that, the incident was preventable and I blame the two sides for not doing enough to avert it.

That said, this is not enough to justify the series of wanton killings going on every day in Nigeria's north. We need to remember that Nigeria is one country. So, when news of banditry and terrorism spreads across local and foreign news channels, it just sends a signal that we don't value human lives - a Nigerian life is worthless. Plus, it scares away prospective foreign investors. Please these senseless killings in the north and across Nigeria have to stop. We don't need this blame game; everyone should take responsibility. Just before we realized our tribal, party and religious differences, we should remember that we were first humans.

so because shia zealots blocked an army chief for less than 1 hour that justifies the industrial slaughter of nearly 1000 innocent shia adherents....most of whom were not at the scene of the initial wahala..........your sense of justice is a complete mess!
