PRESS RELEASE

Chevron Nigeria Limited is taking precautions against the spread of COVID-19 virus

Lagos – April 15, 2020: Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation/CNL Joint Venture (NNPC/CNL JV), has continued to operate safely, and without any Coronavirus (COVID-19) related incident in its operations.

CNL affirms that as a responsible organization, one of the precautionary safeguards it has put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus into its operations is the introduction of a compulsory two-week supervised quarantine for all personnel returning to work at its Escravos Operations during this period of the pandemic.

CNL’s General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, Esimaje Brikinn explained that the precautionary safeguard enables CNL to provide a controlled environment for very close monitoring of the personnel during the period of the supervised quarantine. He added that in order to make this safeguard effective, all personnel will first be required to provide a comprehensive travel history before they are placed in the supervised quarantine.

Reacting to speculations that CNL quarantined some of its staff suspected of having the Coronavirus in a hotel in Warri, Delta State, Esimaje affirmed that none of CNL’s employees has contracted the COVID-19 virus. He clarified that based on the Coronavirus directive issued by the Federal Government of Nigeria regarding sustained operations in the oil and gas industry, CNL entered into arrangements with some hotels and other facilities in Warri and Lagos where their staff on rotational duties will be accommodated, and their health status monitored to ensure that they do not have the COVID-19 virus before returning to work at its Escravos Operations.

According to him, the first group of personnel scheduled for quarantine were moved to the designated facilities on Friday, April 10, 2020 and other groups will follow based on the crew change schedule and the personnel will be required to strictly maintain social distancing protocols, personal hygiene, and use of appropriate personal protective equipment during the supervised quarantine period. “We are also working with the hotels and other facilities where the personnel will be placed, to ensure that the hotels and facilities maintain high levels of sanitation and follow strict adherence to all COVID 19 protocols,” he stated.

Esimaje declared that at the end of the two-week period, only those who are certified free of the COVID-19 virus shall be moved to Escravos and that anyone with suspected symptoms during the period will be subjected to further testing and subsequently transferred to government designated hospitals for further handling in line with the government approved protocols.

“Chevron continues to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak around the world and has been utilizing the guidance of local and international health authorities. We are regularly updating our workforce and will continue to adjust plans as appropriate as we receive more information. Our top priority is to ensure the wellbeing and safety of our workforce and their family members, and we are taking precautionary measures to reduce the risk of exposure,” he remarked.

PoliticsRe: Chevron: None Of Our Employees Contracted Coronavirus In Warri by Efegoma(m): 11:39am On Apr 16, 2020
The hotel is situated along Nigerian Ports Authority Expressway by Ekpan Bridge, a popular section of the city, and is owned by Chief Cyprian Onephrojire, a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police.

More than 100 employees of oil giant, Chevron Nigeria Limited, suspected of having Coronavirus, are currently being secretly quarantined at Cyprian Hotels and Suites in Warri, Delta State, raising fears among residents of the area, SaharaReporters can confirm.

The hotel is situated along Nigerian Ports Authority Expressway by Ekpan Bridge, a popular section of the city, and is owned by Chief Cyprian Onephrojire, a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police.

The Chevron employees are said to have recently returned from leave and vacation abroad.

The hotel management’s decision to accommodate the oil workers based on existing relationship with Chevron is in violation of the directives of the Delta State Government, which stipulates that all suspected COVID-19 patients must be quarantined in a state-owned medical facility.

A resident of the area, who expressed grave concern, told SaharaReporters on Wednesday that they now lived in fear of contracting the virus as a result of the presence of the oil workers suspected of having Coronavirus being quarantined at the hotel.

“Is it proper in this era for a company to assemble its staff returning from vacation without detailed travel history and quarantine them in a hotel in a populated neighbourhood instead of isolating them in their various homes or hospitals provided by the state government?

“The hotel management wants to endanger the lives of its workers and residents around because of the money Chevron will pay them. We are worried about this situation,” the resident, who asked not to be named, said.

SaharaReporters gathered that the hotel workers were forced to resume duties as a result of the arrival of the Chevron employees at the facility.

Some of the hotel staff told our correspondent that they have not been provided with protective gears and or guaranteed any special allowance for risking their lives to look after the oil workers, who may have been infected already.

The hotel staff also disclosed that they were threatened to be fired if they failed to comply with the instructions of the management to work.

When contacted over the issue, owner of the hotel, Onephrojire, denied the claims.

Findings by SaharaReporters however, revealed that some senior staff of Chevron are also currently being secretly quarantined at Prodeco Guest House and Bon Hotel – both situated along NPA Expressway in Warri.

Sources around the hotel told our correspondent that the retired AIG was breaking the law because his son, Roland Onephrojire, is a high-ranking police officer currently in charge of the security of Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege.

General Manager Policy, Government and Public Affairs of Chevron, Mr Esimaje Brikinn, could not be reached for comments as at the time of this report.

Special Assistant on Media Affairs to Delta State Governor, Norbert Chiazor, when contacted by our correspondent, said the development was against government's directive, adding that suspected COVID-19 patients must be quarantined at designated state hospitals and not in a hotel.

He said, “We are setting machineries in motion immediately to verify this story. Government's directive is that all suspected cases are reported to the state authorities.”

On Tuesday night, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control announced that there were 373 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 11 recorded deaths.

Delta has three confirmed cases and one death from the virus at the moment.

You have no respect for constituted authority but want to rule well educated, civilized and diplomatic people like the omoluabis? When we tell tinubu haters that he is a democrat with articulate, working foresight they diasagree and call him a dictator/king maker. Some of them will elect leaders of questionable character in their various States e.g kerosene governor, and when their stupidity starts yielding maladministration they pack their luggages in polythene bags and zoom off to Lagos. Learn to face the consequences of your actions. Don't kom to Lagos and other parts of Nigeria to dictate politics to us when you have failed in it both locally and Nationally.

And as for Babatunde Gbadamosi this is his time to work in sanwo olu's cabinet, as boi boi. Is God not wonderful?

PS: My advise to all politicians out there both aspiring and active. Whenever you see a people from a certain part of Nigeria supporting your political ambition, calamity calls, please go down on your knees and cry very well, roll in Canaan land if you can and ask God to forgive you your sins, then PAY them OFF and you will win.

BabaRamota1980:
Many people think of sex when polygamy is mentioned but that is not so. To me the greatest benefit I have derived from it is friendship, companionship and nurture. Nurture in this sense is total. In other words, engaging in the therapeutic effect of sexual healing, the aesthetics and energy involved. Sex in the matrimony is a worship. I must mention that when you hear of polygamous relationships that are abusive its because the parties went into the contract with wrong expectations or deceit. When their expectations are not met resentment sets in, followed by rejection and then it becomes a turn off and abuse.

Men who have ever gone for massage accept that it has great healing effect and its truly rejuvenating. I dont pay for mine. I have two masseusse and I rub them down too when they need care.

Having children in the relationship doubles the challenges but it also serves as training ground for all the adults in the household. We each learn the delicate art of negotiating and most important, using mediation to manage conflict. I can run a business operation successfully just by applying same skills i learnt and use to run my household.

The challenges are usually with needs and timing. Most of our runnings are scheduled. We know what expenses to expect and we plan and allocate ahead...then boom!...something unexpected and quite expensive happens, and you must attend to it immediately or it will result in great agony if delayed. So now you will need to cut from something on schedule to meet this emergency. This can be nerve wrecking because it throws everyone off. One of my spouses may have wrong perception that only her own scheduled expense is always affected. Thats not the case...its just human nature to have a sense of jealousy and to compete. Of course i cant tell her like im telling you now...that will be careless to just write it off as jealusy. I must acknowledge her concern and address it with diplomacy and tact. In a multipurpose intentional lifestyle, competition for affection and closeness is real, from the spouses and from the little ones. When the children want to play with their father there is nothing like ...im busy! I drop everything and give them time. Every moment is precious. I learn things even from the little ones that i would have missed if i was busy! ....and im enriched from it.

Then the in-laws..... Ohhh, let me stop here. grin
God bless you my brother you are one of the few Africans that understands the beauty of the God given blessing of polygamy.

Coronavirus: Prophet T.B. Joshua fine-tunes prediction
Monday, March 30, 2020 8:30 am

Pastor T.B. Joshua

Founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet T.B. Joshua, claimed he was misunderstood about his prediction on when the raging coronavirus would end.

Reports had said he gave a timeline of 27 March.

Now he has fine-tuned his prediction.

He said what he meant was that the virus would vanish spiritually by 27 March.

“I meant coronavirus would vanish spiritually the same way it came. As I speak, the virus is no more in the spirit realm.”

“I didn’t specify so why would people conclude I meant physically. Men of today lack understanding.

“Instead of taking time to understand the context in which something was said, they are always quick to judge,” he said on Sunday.

In an earlier sermon to his congregation, Joshua said “This month (March), 27th, it will be over (referring to the COVID-19).

“By the end of this month, no matter the medicine they produced to cure whatever, it will go the way it came, even if it is not medicine that brought this to the world, medicine cannot take it out, it will go the way it came.”
