^^ Thanks ![]() |
^^ And where would you be coming home from? |
fav444: You mean ready-made. donpata:You need to decide what it is you want from your partner. What are your expectations apart from the monetary aspect? What if the lady in question is the exact opposite to what you want but is loaded / working? Does this mean you'll reconsider your values and expectations? If so, then I sense sugar mummy things. |
isaaci:I'm sorry I don't get this. How could you live with a guy you just met (i.e: within the year) for five months? Where are your parents / guardians, or whoever it is that pays your school fees? Didn't they have a say in your decision to go live with your boyfriend for five months? Secondly, where did you - as a student - get the money from to assist him financially? |
tpiar: ![]() tpiar: ![]() Tpia, you haven't changed one bit! ![]() Okay, my first instinct in response to your question would have been to say an emphatic "NO". But then again, my standards, your standards, and everyone elses's standards may differ. So what might be an absolute no-no for you in terms of what you expect from a man, could be an absolute yes-yes for some other lady. You know the saying - different strokes for different folks. ![]() |
njokusboy:Pls don't die. Christmas is just around the corner. ![]() Besides, wetin I talk? Was simply paying you a compliment na. ![]() |
damiso:Lol! You are right. In and out, but I will try very hard this coming new year to curb the habit. I think I'm nearly there anyway. I just need to put pen to paper all my outlays (sigh). Oh, I'm starting out something new - you might do this for your kids when they're older....I've told my teenage sons I'll pay them £20 per "A" grade and for my oldest, £40 per "A" grade for his A-level subjects. But then decided to up the stakes - £100 per "A" grade for the A-level subjects, and £50 per "A" grade for the others. No reward for B's and less. Those who get A's will get their money this Christmas. A trip to the £1 shop / pound savers for those who didn't hit the mark. ![]() I'm planning to make this a frequent occurrence per grade card results received. What d'you think? |
damiso:Lol @ trying with the breakfast! I've moved on from the plain porridge thingy as I feel it's way too heavy for me. I now try to detox every morning with the lime and lemon thingy. Only problem is, after drinking so much water, I end up urinating like a tap every 30 mins for the next 2 hours. It's terrible when the trains are delayed but I guess (according to my friend), I nor dey hear word. So the next time you see a lady flying the barrier at London Bridge station trying to get to the loo, you'll know it'll probably be Efe...lol!Greek yoghurt - isn't that very fattening? How do you manage to work out in the mornings? Sunrise doesn't happen until 8:00 am ish! |
damiso:Haha! Yes na - I need to source some ideas from you. I was thinking, I could put that £50 - £60 I save weekly on buying lunch, etc from work into a Cash ISA every week. That's been my honest intention but then I found myself shopping at Boots Which isn't such a bad thing oh! As they had this deal going on last week or so at the Canary Branch - Spend £50 or more and get £10 worth of Advantage points on your Boots Card. I managed to get up to £52 worth of points and guess what? I found that bike my daughter's been asking for since the beginning of this year. £35. Now that's come in quite handy for me. Don't ask me what I'll be getting the others - it's a completely different story! ![]() |
damiso:That sounds good. I started mine two weeks ago. I made a huge pot of Jollof rice for the family and some moi-moi with fried plantains and green vegs for them. I knew I would be tempted so while cooking those, decided to make beans porridge. Most of my kids don't like beans anyway, so I decided to make it with everything (tomatoes, pepper, onions, crayfish, seasoning) but without any palm oil. Then placed them in plastic seal-able containers - but before storing them away, added some mixed vegetables (sweetcorn, carrots, green peas, broccoli, and Brussel sprouts). That served as my main lunch. I also take an assortment of fruits with me to nibble on mid-morning (a banana, clementine, green & purple grapes, and an apple). A strawberry yourghurt for dessert shortly after lunch and some roasted cashew nuts to nibble on at tea-time. Also helps keep me awake during boring telephone meetings. ![]() I know it might sound a lot but I still stick religiously to my lime and lemon concotion every morning + some cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, and a litre of water for breakfast. Kinda explains why I feel ravenous by lunch time (12noon) ![]() |
damiso:I'm looking up to you for motivation. These last couple of weeks have been hectic 'n all - and this weekend has been a lazy sort of one for me. I desperately need to kick start my motivational va-va-voom to start going. Like you, I've not done much exercising either and climbed on the scale to make sure there aren't any extra lbs creeping in but it's hard this winter. I've managed to be er...fairly careful with my calorific intake but I know I need to do better. Oya answer my question about making your own lunch to work....what motivates you et al? What do you do with the money you save? Biko, I need to learn some Ijebu tricks from you ![]() |
Damiso - question for you: What motivated you to start making / taking your lunch to work? And how do you ensure you've got a healthy selection and that you don't get bored? I started copy-catting you and didn't even realize prior to that that I was easily spending £10 - £12 on average, daily. |
damiso:Lol! Come over to the food thread - let's chat. Need to ask you something(s) anyway... |
cococandy: ![]() Happy Anniversary, girl! Wishing you both long life, prosperity, good health, and happiness. ![]() |
tpiar:Lol! ![]() |
damiso:Lol @ declining food. You know most people decline on superstitious grounds as per catching witchcraft Cleanliness is a completely different ball game.Re: Work - I've got both weeks off. ![]() |
damiso:Lol! Are you serious? ![]() No work today, Dami? |
captianfreeman:Looks like pigeon droppings on the cooker. How does your friend manage to touch the knobs while cooking without flinching? ![]() This must be Njokusboy's kitchen. ![]() |
BeeBeeOoh:Not necessarily. |
maureensylvia:Not agitated man. Just telling it like it is. |
mostyg:Just admit it. The true intention of your thread is to get people on here buy into your idea of having all night threes0mes and f0urs0mes. You kinky man. With that being the case and your wife is totally understanding of your intention to have an open relationship with her, I hope you do extend the same courtesy of allowing her have great sex with other men by virtue of marrying them too. The four of you can share one bed. i.e: two men and two women. You just need to get your local carpenter construct a larger bed, or line up two double beds together. That aside, your idea sounds great to me. Your kids will have at least two fathers and two mothers each. They shall never lack parental care / attention. Don't go into acquiring separate apartments. The rule should be one for all and all for one. If the financial burden will be too much for you to bear, get the second husband chip in. Every Kobo counts. |
NORAD:First of all, kindly point out where I insulted you in my post. Secondly, to say your thread is an embarrassing read is putting it mildly. From the tone of your post and subsequent replies on here, one can safely deduce that you aren't interested in what must be got, but are more interested in cutting corners, even if it means cutting out items that are non-negotiable life-saving essentials (like vaccinations / immunizations / car safety seats, etc) as long as you save a Kobo here and there. Now let's go through your initial NORAD:Are you just realizing that she's pregnant and would need items for the delivery of your child? Why would you wait for her to "hand you the list"? Prior to her "handing the list to you", what have you done towards preparing for the birth of your child? What stops you from being proactive - right from the start - in finding out what needs to be acquired? Do you need to be taught how to support your pregnant wife? Or are you a hands-off dad-to-be? Have you even accompanied your wife to her antenatal classes (assuming she's even registered at one)? Because if you have, none of what she listed on there should come as a surprise to you. NORAD:Imagine that. So rather than go find out for yourself, you choose to log on to Nairaland for strangers to help you find out the true prices of items? How do you think people on here found out how much each of the items on your wife's list cost? By logging on to Nairaland to ask others?? We all know the real reason you've come on here is to make sure your wife doesn't "chop" your money. You're determined not to spend over 50K irrespective of what is non-negotiable or not. You come across as a very controlling and stingy man. Next time use birth control (until you're both financially capable of bringing in another child) - at least that won't cost you 50K. |
Sagamite:Okay, I get what you're saying and I don't disagree with some of your points - but my outlook is slightly different. The UK is a developed nation. Nigeria is a developing nation. Housing prices in the UK are closely linked to either upward / downward trends in the economy. Controlling factors such as Inflation Rates, Retail Price Index, Consumer Price Index, etc. are all determining factors. What's the equivalent in Nigeria? Nothing is appropriately monitored there. Does there even exist an equivalent of the Office for National Statistics (OFNS) over there? I had a read of the links you posted but those articles were based mostly on the reporters' opinions. Nothing backed with hard facts and figures, but then again nothing surprising there. See, my analogy is quite simple. Basic even. With development comes job opportunities, which in turn brings in a lot of potential customers for the housing market in Naija which = a demand for housing. Based on what you say about a changed and cleaner government (which I find hard to believe but let's be optimistic), coupled with the Chinese, expatriates, and foreign investors trickling in - then imminent "progress" should be on the cards, and this should transcend into a surge in people and flocking to major city areas in the hope of acquiring jobs (albeit well-paying jobs), and businesses wanting to cater for high-brow clientèle. The point(s) you make about transportation and infrastructre are interesting ones, but let's be realistic. How long will it take the government to deliver on it's promises to provide the basics? Take transportation for example - I do not for one second believe an efficient railway can be built an completed within the lifespan of one government in power even if they succeed in running for a second or even third term in office. So until that's up and running, what happens to the expectations for affordable housing? At the moment, there is a chink in the government's armour and those with a keen eye for detail tap into such situations, milk, make the most of the situation and move on to the next best thing. You didn't address the point I made about transforming that property into a swanky hall of residence for students of wealthy parents. You made some interesting points about a lot of unoccupied properties for rent. Okay. But what about those serving as guest houses / top-end hotels in Abuja prime areas. How do they do it? What or who's to say the same can't be done for this property? Not all Nigerians are on the breadline, struggling to exist, living solely from hand-to-mouth. There are a lot of them out there living it up with the money to burn. So where else would they burn it if not at exclusively built expensive properties serving as guest houses, etc? I agree the interior of the property you posted looks quite grim to be honest, but like I mentioned in my previous post, it's nothing that a good lick of paint with some imported items from furniture stores over here wont put right. Finally, you mentioned globalisation being one of the driving factors in pushing up housing prices in the UK. Now if this present Nigerian government is half as good as you say they are, then Nigeria should be heading towards a similar scenario, which in turn should translate into lots of people from all over the world wanting to buy property in Abuja, as they do in London. And if this causes a shortage in supply, then wouldn't it stand to reason that this grossly overpriced property will be snapped up ASAP by foreign investors? |
cococandy:Lol! I did? Well, well, well! I can't wait to see this little princess oh! Re: Your mum & mother-in-law, you'll be fine. Their being around will help stall off you having the baby / postnatal blues. And you definitely will get the chance to rest. I wish I had mine with me when having my kids... ![]() |
Sunnypar:That obviously isn't the case here. Question is, why is she having to beg? How can a man not want his wife to work, yet he struggles with providing the basic essentials? Sunnypar:And how does the bolded work at less then 60K? And is that 60K a month? Or 60K a year?? |
mostyg:That post wasn't directed at you. Sambarry knows what I was referring to. |
^^ A gilr! Now how cool is that? ![]() And nursery all sorted? Pls, pls, pls, say you went for the soft yellow background. I love yellow! ![]() Also, try and cook some meals and store away in your deep freezer. Make about two week's worth if you can. Pepper soup will come in handy too. And make sure you get plenty of rest. Enjoy the peace and quiet while you can because it'll all change when Junior puts in an appearance. It'll be sleepless nights from then on.... |
Cococandy - been meaning to ask you... You ready for the D-day? All packed and ready? Just remember if you're unsure of anything, you can always give us a shout. Happy to help. ![]() In the meantime, hope mami and omomo are doing well? |
cococandy:Maybe, maybe not. I believe anything goes in Naija. |
SAMBARRY:There's nothing to say. We're still expecting you to join us. There's enough rooms for side-chicks. |
blessedtwins:I have nothing against men who take pride in providing for their families. I do have issues with those who do it grudgenly and make the woman feel like shyte while doing so. Such woman need to empower themselves by having their own source of income to cater for the basics at the very least. As long as she's of sound mind, she has no excuse to go cap-in-hand-a-begging. Especially if she's educated and able-bodied. |
