What does the constitution say about age of those willing to goveern the nation. The people will decide as per that.

While the constitution has set the limits, it is left for us to use our brains in working within those limits. If you are the CEO of a bank in Nigeria, will you appoint an old, almost retiring former bank manager of the 80's who doesnt know how to use a computer? Or someone who has no idea about current trends in the industry? Or someone who has been out of the banking world for 20 years? Especially when there are other more promising candidates around with more energy to spare.

You may not agree but this is my opinion and the opinion of many others as regards this topic: Why You'll Never Vote For Muhammadu Buhari?

Nagoma, this thread is about Buhari. Fault me on that if you think I'm wrong: Buhari has reached retirement age and is not equipped to lead in modern, democratic Nigeria in need of the corporate ideology.

i know how d system ws before Tinubu came in and set up some of those bodies, and i know that theres relative improvement and orderliness in d system compared to way back then. u all can imagine lagos traffic wtout lastma, take for example GEJ campaign in lagos when Fashola had to withdraw lastma from certain sectors of d state. those of us in lagos knw chaos on dt day.

These are the strategies people use to win cheap votes. Play on everybody's emotions and when the get there, they'll do NATHING. Fashola remains the best in Lagos for now. No contest.

It is very close to what will happen. But I will go more with 67% GEJ, 20% Ribadu, 13% BB

Lagos has some of the most informed individuals in Nigeria
GEJ is a friend of the entertainment industry and a strong advocate of freedom. Remmber Lagos is home to all the DBanj's and all the Silverbirds etc.
It is the most "detribalized" part of Nigeria.
It has a good mix of different ethnicities.

Even on guardian polls GEJ is far ahead.

First time in a long time I had a December without long queues.

We have enough gas to sustain us all till we can find an alternative. Make no mistake about that. That is as sure as 1+1=2. Think about it, we even have far more gas than oil. Just to let you know how large our reserves are, we are No. 8 globally ahead of Venezuela, Iraq, China, Libya etc.   No need to argue that fact.

If you are following Fukushima, you will agree 100% with the government. Right now, the costs (time and resources included) for any greenfield (new-build) nuclear project are exceptionally high. Insurance costs alone will make any nuclear project unreasonable. The expertise and licence requirements have skyrocketted. The worst part is the safety risk. We have to forget about nuclear for at least 5 years. It is not only a Nigerian problem, it is global. Until practical control solutions are developed, we cannot go that way anytime soon.

Gas and coal are easier to develop and will take even shorter time. We have all the manpower needs, we have the experience, we have companies on ground. A lot of these projects are actually running already. We have places in Nigeria with 100% power availability supplied by gas plants. With a mix of several energy sources (excluding nuclear), we can achieve all we need to achieve within the time it will take to build a nuclear plant in today's world.

He looks weak but he is busy achieving a lot. Right from when he started, he did some very surprising things that people could not believe he had the guts for. Results all around. The election has taken so much effort and in the midst of the election, he's still achieving a lot!

Ribadu: to me, Ribadu is not the "opposition". We are on the same side! He is the kind of person I will like to be president. Even if he falls short in some areas, he has found himself among achievers and capable people that will prop him up. He has shown that he's got genuine passion (even though he acts childishly sometimes). I will rejoice the day Buhari decides to back Ribadu. Then I will know that our future is 100% sure with any one that wins.

Buhari: I respect him as an old man. I like his followership and it will be great if he can point those followers to the future. I will like him better if he remains in the background and supports men like Ribadu, Sanusi, Pat Utomi, etc. I also like his calmness on the outside ^{(inside is something else)}. I will not recommend him even as governor of any state but he will be a good emir.

Buhari is just a waste of space and he is part of the problem Africa is having with leaders who want to rule at all cost . How can i vote for someone who not only endorsed the Abacha regime but also participated actively in it and even showed his stupidity further by saying that Abacah never stole any money . Is that the kind of corrupt and brutal endorser we need as a president ? Hell No! Come to think of it, The son of the late tyrant is even sharing the same bed space the CPC in the political arena.

My brother, that is the problem we have with the old stock. They are ready to give up the lives of the citizens to protect their own. I don't know what material they are made of. Take Gadhaffi and Ggbagbo for instance, they have been in power for years and refused to give it up. Same thing with Buhari he has been fighting for power all his life and he wants to die fighting for it. Any civilized man his age should be giving us advice and not fight to be at the forefront.

Buhari reminds us of the bitter past. We need to leave the past behind and move ahead.

Every other team in the top 4 is far more democratic and qualified than him and his running mate. Thus, the opportunity cost of a Buhari is too much. Why put a square peg and a jagged reed in two round holes when there are other round pegs that fit better? As far as there is a Ribadu/Adeola or a GEJ/Sambo in the race, there is no point voting him.

I will vehemently resist and refuse the offer, make sure I capture evidence, and intensify my campaign against him. Before I go, I will ask him a simple question: WHY DO YOU WANT TO DESTROY THE FUTURE OF OUR NATION BECAUSE OF YOUR AMBITION?

From the bottom of my heart, out of all the candidates, he is the only one that makes me scared for the future of Nigeria. People should love their president and not be scared of his intentions. Somebody Help!!!

He is selfish. By refusing to allow others like Ribadu to carry on from where he stopped, he has shown that he will like to remain in power for life.

He will not present a good image of Nigeria on the international scene. Can you imagine how he would fare on hardtalk? With Christiana Amanpour drilling him, he will disgrace us and rub our name in the mud in front of the whole world!

Buhari leadership is like 504 with manual transmission, no airbags, no power steering, wasteful fuel consumption etc. In this world of navigation systems and energy efficient engines, how will he pilot the affairs of the nation successfully?

He doesn't know much about Nigeria anymore. He could not answer a single question properly at the NN24 debate. He tried to say little to avoid mistakes but never made a point. How will he tackle a problem if he doesn't know that the problem exists?

During his regime he introduced austere policies that worked against the common man. Health, Education and the economy were in shambles. In order to frustrate some citizens, he banned the importation of certain essential goods and at the same time did not provide any alternatives.

Everybody remembers him for his notorious decree 4. He had no value for human life. Humans to him were like animals or slaves. World over his is known for his infringement on human rights.

His party does not have any strong structures. It is plagued with lack of control and heavy internal crises. The case of Abacha is a very significant example. If your house is not in order, how will you manage the nation? The party is light years behind ACN and PDP. Imagine what would have happened if Yaradua was president on CPC platform? There would have been chaos. One tree cannot make a forest.

FORWARD EVER, BACKWARDS NEVER

Why should we go back into the past when we can move forward?

Buhari is a mirage fueled by the misconception of "anything else is better". This is how backwardness works in chronological order:

Step 1: "Maybe we should go back to Buhari"
Step 2: "Maybe we should go back to military rule"
Step 3: "Maybe we should go back to colonialism"
Step 4: "Maybe we should go back to slavery"
Step 5: "Maybe we should stop wearing clothes"

He belongs to the class of dictators who are being flushed out all around the world.

Just like Mubarak, Gadhaffi and Ben Ali who have been in their government for years, he is no longer needed in this generation. This is democracy. In democracy, he will not be effective. He is trained to use brute force and that is the only language he understands. The miltary style of whips and kobokos. Beyond that, he can achieve nothing. The new generation of boxers in the house of assembly will only frustrate him and we will go nowhere with that.

No clear cut plans for the future.

BB will set us back and after 4 years of pursuing shadows, Nigerians will look back and regret. During the debate, Buhari categorically said he will not make further investments until he probes the last 12years! Even if the BB government means well with the probes, how long do you think the hungry citizens can wait for the probes to be over?  A more reasonable approach is to Probe and also invest at the same time, more like the Ribadu approach.

He is too keen on religiosity and tribalism.

He tried to play the religious card by appointing Bakare as his running mate. To me that was very selfish. Why? What happens IF something goes wrong and he is not able to continue? Is Bakare competent enough to steer the affairs of this country successfully? Is Bakare the best we can get for a VP? That tells me he will appoint ministers and public office holders the same way. Based on sentiments. That is what has been killing the nation and we don't need to go back to that.

He has always been tribalistic. During his regime, he fought corruption selectively along tribal lines. He played the tribal card once again by neglecting a huge portion of the south in his campaign. He will only lead the country to chaos with such attitude.
