Afam4eva: I hope you will be there to console him when he gets dumped. We live in a realist and not idealist society.
I wasn't been idealistic at all. Not everyone wants the chocolate teddy bear and wristwatch birthday, valentine, and Christmas gift. I'm surprised girls aren't even tired of these things undecided. And like I said, the poster knows his girlfriend best. Only him can decide what she would appreciate.

And if anything, I would be here on this page to console him. tongue (which will probably not be necessary anyway)
That's what's up and I hope it happens by 2015. The West definitely needs to undo all the wrong(s) it did to Africa and how it underdeveloped the continent, and its people - but destroying the artificial borders. The way the whole continent is set up, Africa is too weak, without a defined identity, to challenge the West or Asia. We need to start from the scratch again. We've to destroy the artificial borders and allow the ethnic groups and similar groups create their own identities and form their own countries. With that; they'll be able to build great institutions required for nation building.

Furthermore, with the current set-up, the lousy claim about Africa forming a powerful force in the scheme of things when it comes to international politics, is just a pipe-dream. Currently, we stand for nothing. However, we're part of everything. We need to go back to our pre-colonial borders; redefine our identities; and create a new AU based on common interests.

Kudos to the yanks!!
I don't know if I agree with this. I'm not sure about starting from scratch. Even if Ed break up into 50 smaller countries, won't we still need to work together in order to make the continent rise? As we are now, we already have inter-state beef and tensions so I don't think undoing the borders will entirely solve the problem. We need to be more selfless and more conscious of the common good. There will probably be disunity within smaller states anyway. All you need is grouping which already existing on a smaller scale.

shymexx: Buy her a dictionary, yano... grin grin grin

If she wants to be a writer; just ask her for reading list and buy her two or three books from that list. However, you need to add the surprise factor. Ask her in a sly way and get the books.
I agree. OP, you know your babe the best. Only you would know if she would appreciate a dictionary or books. Does she have a watch and the rest of the other things your friends mentioned? If yea, don't waste your money. Honestly, I would rather you bought something meaningful and that can add value to her life. Chocolate no go finish? Teddy beat? What's that? Wristwatch, maybe but not a biggie. You can always combine both anyway - books and a watch or books and chocolate.

Btw, if you want to buy a dictionary, please make sure it's one the best around (it's probably going to be a big one. And maybe include a thesaurus too?)

Then you don't deserve to know. People also don't have patience to summarize. Read it when you have time or forget it.

@topic: started off well and got me engaged. He made some really sensible points especially I'm the first half. Not sure if I agree with the rest of it or not.

Interpreted as: proper management of funds is evident.
Those criticizing him should chill out. He did not out rightly state that he is anti-loans. He just said that they have done so much from properly utilizing and managing funds. When the government is ready to doors than their budget can afford, I'm sure they will look into it.

A lot of unnecessary noise. Biko, calm down

OP do what makes you happy. Don't be miserable for the rest of your life. Have no regrets. Nah you get your own life.

Per the uncertainty of getting a job in the P.E field, you will never know until you get there. If you stand out, you will make it. Where there is a will, there is a way.

P.S what is your own definition of success? As far as I'm concerned, the most successful people are those who do what they want to do and enjoy doing it.
CareerRe: I'm Considering Leaving Medicine - Please Advise by Egbagirl(f): 4:38pm On Jun 05, 2013
I don't think the money is the issue here but his passion for/interest in his job. Mr OP, follow your heart. If you want to go into petroleum engineering, pls do so. It's your happiness that matters. You know what you want and what will make you happy. DO IT.

Fhemmmy: This is not the regular beans for Nigeria now, this is more like the Jamaican peas . . . might be available in Nigeria oh.
The second one is not waakye o. It's look like bean chilli and the first one is more like waakye with the stewed mixed in. But anyway oga Fhemmy, waakye is like regular rice n beans but they add some extra stuff to special baking soda/some leaves to bring out the color n the beans is also different
FoodRe: Beans Lovers by Egbagirl(f): 4:04pm On Jun 04, 2013
damilola15: I know but waakye the "street food" is not like the "regular rice and beans" you prepare at home.
Right right. I agree. Didn't know you was referring to the one prepared by street food vendors.

shymexx: grin grin Nah, my microwave and oven are super clean. I cover my food all the time and for the oven, it's aluminium foil tingz. However, dirty wall is unacceptable. That's why most people use wall tiles by their cookers.

That's the world's best kept secret. Easy to cook and more than enough to feed on. Hey, take-aways as well. Ain't no nyggah got time to sit in the damn kitchen for hours, with the risk of burning his hands and shiit. grin
Good that your microwave and oven stuff in cooked in a clean and safe environment. Lol tongue
Smh you need to eat better food lol. I can give you tons of easy ways to cook chicken. Lol

shymexx: Is ya kitchen dirty, the Egba one? grin tongue

Shiit - my kitchen hardly see any cooking - it's as white as snow. grin

But I don't know about my oven and microwave, though. I need to check them when I get home. grin
Lmao!!! I think a dirty microwave and oven are worse than a stained wall. Lol!!! But no sir my kitchen isn't dirty. The Bathroom and kitchen are the two places that I can't stand being dirty!

shymexx: Bro., be careful before you turn into a mangina.

Women love abusing everything.

Anyway, any woman that wants me to cook for her better be ready for food poisoning, especially if it's on a Sunday, when I've got tons of sports to watch on TV.

Get in here and let's microwave these chicken wings together looool. Oven chips and burger - get the ketchup and let's get busy, hun.

FoodRe: Picture Of A Nairaland Addict Cooking Food For His Lovely Wife. by Egbagirl(f): 2:56pm On Jun 04, 2013
And for those claiming the OP didn't actually cook the food.... Unless you have proof that he did, I are no reason to not believe him. Furthermore, what makes it impossible that a husband cooked for his wife? Na crime?
FoodRe: Picture Of A Nairaland Addict Cooking Food For His Lovely Wife. by Egbagirl(f): 2:54pm On Jun 04, 2013
People here be acting like they don't know why kitchen walls sometimes get dirty depending on what you use in cooking your food. Y'al should really chill. Your kitchen wall dey white like snow ni? Even snow sef dey dirty sometimes. Mscheeeeew.

(Not saying that the walls should remain like that or the OP should ignore it buy people should stop acting up and forming Biko.)

Look this is not a competition between states. Forget about the national sports whatever they do. It's about what you do with those athletes after the interstate competition.
