Career / Re: A Month After I Was Sacked, I Was Mistakenly Credited With ₦40,000 by ehinmowo: 10:32pm On Dec 30, 2020
Brosst:
Good day fellow Nairalanders. Please don't mind my long note.

I got a job with a newly opened superstore in the month of November this year. I was formally with a private secondary school but I had to quit when this new job clicked. I forfeited my October salary because I didn't give the school a month notice and I didn't even know that I will get the superstore job. We did interviews during the endsars lockdown.

I had to take up the superstore job as an inventory manager because the salary is better than the school job. To cut the long story short, I resumed as the inventory manager and we were handed over our employment letter. We were two in my department (Inventory). At the end of the month (November) the staff were asked to submit account details to the accountant which we all did so we were expecting credit alert for the month of November.

The accountant didn't credit our account rather he was calling the staff one by one in his office and pay them with cash. I was not called and i was wondering what could be the cause. My colleagues asked me to go meet the accountant in his office. When I got to his office he told me that he didn't know how he wants to relate the latest development to me. So he started saying different stories and he was pacifying me. He handed my salary and another letter. I opened it and it was a "temporary lay off letter". The reason was that " budget consideration ". The superstore hasn't make much to cover staff salary. I was laid off with 3 other staff (one merchandiser, one bakery staff and one cashier).

Meanwhile it was the manager that interviewed
and she is the one I report to but it was the accountant that handed over the letter to me. The company retained My junior in the inventory department after I had put him through somethings he does not understand on the job.

I was dumbfounded and it look as if my world is coming to and end. I thought of my children and wife, my house rent. I started blaming myself for leaving my former job. I summoned courage and I left.

I got home and explained situation of things to my family. That week wasn't an happy week for us considering the fact we are approaching the month of December (festive season).

Meanwhile I have another side hustle I engaged in during weekends but its not fetching much money and the stress was too much; I collapsed and I was hospitalized for two weeks.
On the 28th of this month I received a call from the accountant that he mistakenly transfer the sum of N40,000 into my account that I should please forward the money back to the superstore account number. The manager also called me. But my phone mouthpiece has been very bad since Christmas day. I used to manage my wife's phone anytime I have important calls. That faithful morning I took my phone to the engineer and I went to collect it in the afternoon thinking the phone is ok but the mouthpiece is still not working fine. So since the accountant couldn't hear me, I sent him a text that my phone is faulty and that I will call him back as soon as I fix it again. The following day which is today I took the phone back to the engineer. And I went straight to the superstore to ascertain what really happened. So he told me he mistakenly sent the sum of N40,000 to my account and that the money was December salary for the second guy in the inventory department. and that I should pls forward the money back to the company's account and that the company is on his neck. And I explained to him that I don't usually receive funds in that particular account because i took a loan from access bank which is overdue and I'm yet to pay them. And even if I receive money in that account I will transfer it immediately to my kuda account and i showed him my kuda atm card but in his own case now when he transferred the money I wasn't with my phone it was with the engineer and I wasn't expecting transfer from anybody. And I told him that when he and the manager were calling me the engineer didn't fix the mouthpiece well and I was on my way to ijaiye. I told him I went to drop the phone back this morning and I will go and check my access bank app to see if transactions occur because I didn't receive any credit alert. Alas when I collected my phone back and I checked the app I saw the 40k credit and access bank had already debited me for the loan.

I don't know what to do now because he is begging me to please refund the money into the company's account and I have been trying to borrow from access bank again but the bank keeps telling me I am not qualify for a loan at this time. I don't have salary job at the moment and there is nowhere I can get money to repay the company. I wish to refund them so that I won't look like a bad or dubious person to them. He has been calling me on phone but I don't know how to break the news to him.

Pls what can I do in this kind of situation?

I will not advise you to take loan to pay the money. Print your bank statement. Go and show it to the accountant and the manager. Let them know that you don't have the cash to pay at the moment. But you will be paying XYZ amount every month till you complete the payment. Don't add more stress to your life than there is already.

Borrow from friends and pay back in time or they might arrest you.

This is company money, the job of the accountant is also at stake here, so pity him too

Stop collecting loans from banks or loan apps, they are usury and usury is designed to make you poor, you keep borrowing and borrowing and paying back with high interest. It is a trap.

This is not a wise advise. The stop borrowing is. But the arrest sounds odd. All he needs do would be to show that he did not withdraw money from the account. Or he was actually expecting 40k from someone. Hence he used the money. Your case would crumble like a pack of cards in court. Na to dey pay 1000 per month till the money complete.

Something must have inspired her...if you know, you know. grin

When I was serving in Plateau State (LG withheld), our lodge was attacked by two armed men. One Ekiti boy disarmed them. The guy is still my friend now. I have never experienced that b4.

One was in another room "mending" two boys. The other came to the boy's room (I was in another room sleeping. The commotion woke me) trying to collect his phone. The phone was locked, so he asked him to unlock the phone. The guy said he was just looking at the lanky looking boy with a gun. 'it looked like a joke', he said.

While trying to unlock the phone, the thief was distracted. Naso the guy set blow for hin throat. Omo gun fell off. They scampered for safety. We went to police post to later make report. But we did not disclose the identity of the person to anyone. And we later employed some vigilantes around the the lodge.

Let's start patronizing our own nigga

NIgeria wires and cables are superior to anyone from anywhere in the world. It's an open secret. The leaders in that industry are the ones to praise. They ensure that under no condition is adulterated NIgeria wire made. I have known this since 2002.

But are you aware that most cables used by PHCN and other govt contract jobs were still imported? In fact there was time that the NIPP project was delayed for months because of forex and logistics. Buying made in Naija is only on the lips. None of our politicians are eating local rice.

I keep saying it. The problem with Nigeria is not just that the leaders are useless and wicked, but that the followers are just as terrible. This is not a society to be proud of.

The question is what happens to the proprietor/proprietress that do this? Will she be arrested? Will her school be closed? They are even threatening to use POLICE.

Citizens of every nation in the world want to commit crime. But the difference is the consequences. The same consequences that are lacking in the government. If govt choose to close about 20 schools in every state that engaged in this. In the next 10 years, if any of such largesse comes again, it would be the school owners that would be explaining to the workers that the money belong to them not the school

While SokoLoan is acting unprofessionally, what do you expect them to run their business with? How much food have u eaten since you got the Loan?

See ehn,

Money is a resource my friends. Don't be tightening your chest when it comes to money.

I thought being frugal was the way forward to making more money sha. I realized that my business

just suffered. Until I heard this Jim Rohn guy say Money is a resource and you have to put it into

use if you want to make more money. As a business person, you don't have a business saving ooo.

Ensure that $1 is commanding $6, $4 is bringing in $20.

How do you ensure that?!!

Buy assets (stocks and cryptocurrency), invest in social media ads that convert and spend voraciously on

your personal development (Sales and marketing to be precise).

I do hope you find it useful tho

What changes did that bring to you? By what percentage has your business improved?

This is a great advise. Under a perfect condition. But we all know the world is not perfect.

A person who reinvests his entire income in his business every time, say warehouse goods or import busineess, would I am sure, nearly commit suicide should fire gulps his warehouse.

I am not an accountant. But I know there are indicators that one needs to consider in business. Should anything happen to any or all available assets, does the company has enough means to replenish the lost assets? If yes, how many times could she do that before she closes shop?

As wonderful as what they have done/doing is, it has almost zero economic benefit to NIgeria.

NIgeria needs to be known for at least one thing. That the world would be coming to get. Just one.

Why does dreams die in NIgeria? I ask myself. Why is FG encouraging graduates to pick hoes and cutlass to go to the farm? Or to start hawking chinchin?

Zulum wants to go and do ceremonial posing again.

He used to be in my list of Nigerians with excellent minds. But after his statement about security in Borno, disappointment was not enough word to describe him.

I know he was compelled to make those statements. I was wondering what it would have caused him to say something like, "Mr. President is trying his best to secure Borno State. But obliviously, the battle is far from over. The president needs everyone's support. I particularly appreciate the president for consistently working to improve security in Borno and NIgeria at large. But like Oliver Twist, we want to encourage him to increase the heat on these unscrupulous elements"

So today I decided to travel to Owerri from onitsha for a business meeting, the journey was meant to be a 1hr30min journey or less, but the check point for such short distance was sooo much!!
Like literally every 1km of the road has checkpoint, it's so bad that from a particular check point, you can basically see another check point ahead
Ranging from the Army to the police to FRSC. Basically every force is on the road and all of them including the army were collecting bribe from the drivers. I actually felt bad for the drivers because it was too much. I felt really disgusted as well because I expected them to distinguish themselves but no they didn't
I guess this is why the transport rate here is on the high side
Now I've spent 4hrs on the road due to traffic induced by these forces from blockage of the road

Last week I came back from Abuja to anambra and the check point were few across the north and I kept wondering
Is there insurgency in the SE or is the crime rate high here or what exactly is the cause of this excess checkpoints / extortion points

The leaders are not complaining.

When Herod killed James. And he saw that it pleased the Jews, he went ahead to lay his hands on Peter.

But like many others, I am of the view that the fusion of NIgeria in 1914 was a colossal error. Northern NIgeria and the south have nothing in common. The south is a progressive, and democratically oriented region. The north is theocratic and resistant to change.

How do you reason with a people who feel anybody who is not of the same religion with him is an outcast? Or and ideology of Boko is an haram?
