Hmmmmmmmm!! Interesting!! How does this decrease the black market price of fuel from #300 per litre to #86.50?? How does this information; inspiring as it is, bring down the price of pounds from #485 to #200?? How does it stop this "Change" government from Importing Brazilian grass as a way of stopping Fulani people from massacring Nigerians in Rivers, in Agatu, in Uromi - because the Nigerian army, Navy and airforce is not strong enough to fight fulani herdmen, ordinary cattle rearers but they are strong enough to smash Niger delta militants!!?? When you find better thing talk, let us know Jooor!! ![]() |

Ovamboland:Thanks for the correction; that was an error!! SWF was actually $1billion dollars,- without any state support - while the reserves was around $30billion |
Rolings:pathetic/pəˈθɛtɪk/ adjective 1. arousing pity, especially through vulnerability or sadness. 2. miserably inadequate. 3. relating to the emotions. Pathetic is choosing to attack/slander someone for his/her opinion - as opposed to offering a weighted opinion of your own or simply disagreeing - and hope to arouse a pitiful following!! Small wonder why Nairaland actually have rules against such behaviour/atitude!! |
Rolings:Nuclear power isn't a concept alien to the Nigerian environment but harnessing Nuclear power to generate electricity, is; in any case President Buhari's presence in that summit was my grouse and not nuclear energy itself. Any smart man watching President Buhari's travel log can easily observe that Buhari is doing what is typical of any military commander. The man is simply undertaking a Global "familiarisation tour"; that's all. A fancy way students of International relations and diplomacy for "Yipeee!! Look at me!! I am the new guy in charge, abeg give me your BBM pin and whatsapp number so that we can chat on common interests later!!" Unfortunately, that tour has no significant benefit for the Nigerian economy but is suited towards shoring up foreign support for the new political structure on ground. A support that Jonathan lost the day he sign a bill against gay rights, luckily for foreign powers, APC provided the right theme/points to withdraw that support - human rights abuse by the military and corruption - which is why Buhari has no issues calling Nigerians criminal abroad and insists that he will wipe out corruption and strengthen the military. Is there anything wrong with President buhari travelling? No!! But at least, let us have trips that are strategically aimed at bettering the lot of Nigerians - short and medium term. Considering our current economic position, new stance on corruption and security challenges, one would have expected that China would have been the first place he would have gone to, followed by south korea, india and russia then wait a while for US to come and greet him; they don't come, then look for an international forum to meet Obama and hold bilateral talks on the side there but not once has he even looked at these strategic countries. He is only just considering going to china now because he needs a loan to finance projects: see dull strategy. He being in a nuclear summit in the US - with his government flashing pictures of him shaking Obama as progress report - at a time when Nigerians at home are buying fuel at #300 per litre is not leadership. And since we are talking about heroes, 3 massacres undertaken by Fulani herdsmen over the last 2months have taken place. What did they profer as the solution to this problem?? Import grass from Brazil to create grazing areas so that fulani and their cows are not stressed from moving around nor fight indigent villagers anymore. No talks of identifying or bringing the perpertrators of these violent crimes to justice - why talk of that, when they don't want to make the new government look incompetent or bias to towards the presidents kinsmen!! A government whose party never appreciated the efforts Jonathan made when the Nation came under the threat of Ebola - that had no clear cure at the time - but is struggling to contain common lassa fever that has clear testing and treatment regimen: with lives wasting away with the Health Minister's poor handling of the matter. Well! Na God hand we dey, by His grace and mercy, we will get there!! |
Rolings:Old enough to know that a man that is faithful in little is faithful in much!! If a country cannot efficiently muster up enough resources to efficiently secure refineries, power plants and oil pipelines from sabotage, that country hasn't earned the right to be playing with around with nuclear energy. Or are you waiting to hear that a nuclear power plant was bombed by Boko Haram before you finally start learning to blame buhari for the state of the nation and not Jonathan. Or better yet, shall we wait till you hear that Boko Haram raided a Nuclear power plant of it resources which they intend to make a particular flavour of suicide bomb or IED that nobody in the world likes before you finally develop some common sense. Besides, the amount of resources require to build, operate and maintain a nuclear power plant is sufficient enough to give a hassle free regular power plant, devoid of nuclear waste - which I doubt we can effectively handle. Besides, investing in a nuclear energy is a long term plan and has no impact on the economy now as far as the current Energy framework is concerned. Go and do research on how whole cities where laid to waste in countries like Japan, ukraine, belarus and russia. From Fukushima to chernobyl, how people suddenly started exhibiting genetic mutations as a result of the effects of nuclear meltdowns in Japan and maybe the limitations of your actual age - not your football age - and reasoning may dawn on you. |
tomakint:He should have continued even when NGF dragged him to court?? That's not possible! He created sovereign wealth fund and contributed his own quota; at least Buhari met $30billion dollars there! How did Abdulsalmi leave for Obasanjo ?? $3billion and yet we were not buying fuel at #300 per litre at black petrol filling stations while the president blows $500,000 flying to US on a trip to a nuclear summit - that has no benefit for the Nigerian economy at this moment - just so he can take selfie while shaking Obama's hand!! |
okpor2:For those of you who don't watch senate proceedings and are wondering if Senator Ben Murray Bruce is vocal in the senate or just hate the fellow and are wondering if he even talks on the floor..........well These are some of the bills that I can remember for now! SB 82: Office of the Federal and State Independent Prosecutor Bill, 2015 SB: 83 National Alternative Energy Commission (Est, etc.) Bill, 2015 SB: 80 Ward Security Watches Nationwide (Est, etc.) Bill, 2015. For the Record, Senator Ben Murray bruce is rated amongst the top 10 vibrant senators in the Nigeria senate by the African free press alongside Dino Melaye, Stella Oduah, Mao Ohabunwa etc. As at February he has sponsored 10 bills, this is aside many motions he has moved/argued on the floor of the senate. But don't take my word for it, check the source below. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/02/sen-ben-murray-bruce-trail-blazer-turns-60/ |
IbXavier or is it Apena Ibrahim Adeboye or is it Skako.........Come and prove now that you are not a liar!! This is why people never take muslim folks like you serious. I am beginning to think that the Ibrahim Apena Adeboye is just a frustrated ficticious character created by suicide bombers looking for recruits where they are none. If what been explained is true, then I expect the Nigerian Supreme Islamic council to raise a Fatwa against your actions/Lies/propaganda here as a lesson for people just like you. Just came here to rubbish MCAN and the sultan of Sokoto! And for how much!!?? God will judge you people in His own time............... Thanks Gracetruth for clearing the air!! |

IbXavier:You have not said anything new other than what the OP has said. You guys are corpers obviously on CDS which is captured within the one year NYSC period. After you are done, you will return back to your normal lives - away from NYSC camp, PPA and CDS and clearance -while the IDP's will remain in the camp. The camp in Edo is practically a christian mission run by Christians just as MCAN goes on islamic mission run by muslim Corpers. You cannot expect them and their sponsors to give you a platform to evangelize islam, the same way MCAN excos and its sponsorship base will forbid you to create a platform for a Pastor to evangelise Christianity - una be corpers, corpers be graduates now, abi una no go school?? ![]() If you went to the Sultan of Sokoto for financial support for an outreach programme and the programme lineup involves a Pastor evangelizing Christianity; what are the chances of getting one Naira from the Sultan!!?? Be realistic and stop trying to whip up sentiments; it won't work, it will only make you look like tools in the hands of "higher powers" with ulterior motives. Of which your alleged visit to the camp is coming shortly after your grand Patron - in the person of the sultan of sokoto - tried to use his influence in the ministry of defence to use soldiers to forcefully move them from the camp (I wasn't there, I am only quoting the OP); why won't they resist!!?? What is to stop the Pastor from believing you are just a follow up effort made by the sultan of sokoto!!?? I have witnessed Christian Mission where we had to make hard choices between helping people and evangelising to people of different faiths. I called it a hard choice because some folks insist that they want nothing to do with my faith (some borne out of their personal conviction, others for fear of being stigmatized by their religious communities and families), while we insist we are only concerned for their immediate well being and nothing more. Okay, if it true you care for my wellbeing, then give me what you want to give me and go. For sure, you can't be talking about taking pictures because confidentiality is now an issue, meanwhile pictures of our activities are some of the things we use to advocate for sponsorship. So what do we do?? Simple, take pictures of the relief materials we want to share, and take pictures of the areas we want to share them and present the relief materials we have and go our way! Be consistent, show care and concern. Put them in our prayers, build trust/relationship, with time they get to appreciate our presence and then ask questions while we proffer answers. Put them in God's hands. God is still in charge. That's how were taught to do it. On the other hand, what I am sensing you guys did in Edo - from the comments made by the OP and you - was to approach the Pastor and made your intentions known and when he didn't seem willing to grant you access, you tried to put him under pressure with whatever influence you could muster to force him to accede to your request and reaffirmed that you were recognised by government as muslim corpers. The man took stock of the situation, sized the matter and said "Okay, you came to show love, care and concern by bringing relief materials?? Fine, bring the materials to us, we will give it to them on you behalf". Instead, you refused and left with the relief materials. If your statement is anything to go by, you refused to give the Pastor the relief materials because you can't trust him to tell the people it came from you. If the aformentioned is true, then MCAN made the blunder of the century!! Why? Which is better?? For the relief materials to be shared on your behalf even though the IDP's don't know where it came from or to risk the Pastor telling the IDP's that MCAN refused to give any relief until they were evangelised first ![]() Una no stop there, you choose to come to Nairaland to create thread and you are asking people to share; I won't be surprised if you guys haven't already gone to facebook and twitter to do same. One year will pass, your tenure expire and you will handover to fresh corpers. Imagine all the potential damage you would have done, all in a bid to try to force a man to give you chance to preach; as opposed to building a relationship of trust over consistent interaction which when matched with prayers can yield better opportunities, God willing. Imagine if the Pastor got wind of this thread on Nairaland, do you know how much irrepairable damage and setbacks you would have created for next set of MCAN excos going back there again. Better be wise Oooh!! |
1 Corinthians 2:13 - 14: - "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy ghost teacheth; comparing Spiritual things with Spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are Spiritually discerned." Jesus Christ made an assertion that can easily be tested, irrespective of whatever flavour of religion you choose. John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the father, but by me." The Day you vow to have an initimate relationship with the personality of God almighty and you make conscious steps and efforts daily to achieve this goal; its only a matter of time before the "Jesus" question arises!! How else can you explain muslims who will gladly maim, cannibalise and kill people who speak vile or trivial things about the quran or muhammed: playing with biblical scriptural references as though na Nairabet ticket number dem dey read. They practically arm-twist Seun and all his moderators hands on Nairaland to grafiti profile walls of folks who must comment in the religion - or is it islamic - section with quranic citations else they are denied access from commenting. I was shocked to see a video of the Oba of Lagos, less than 10 minutes after raising curses that if effected, will automatically grant lagoon club membership to all Igbo's who vote ambode in Lagos; the baba dey quote the book of isaiah, I laugh with understanding. If you are completely contented as a man with living a pious life, that suggest a good moral fibre; religion is there to keep you warm. But if a Spiritual relationship with your creator is what you seek and you are committed to such an undertaking. Very soon, you will start looking for literature or teachings to explain the "Jesus" question. Who is he as opposed to who people think he is?? Why all this hype over a young fellow who is just as ordinary a man as the next man trying to hustle money to make you buy one GNLD or Forever living natural aloe vera in a public bus. Then, you will choose your words more carefully when you choose to enter into a fora, debate or discussion concerning Him. |

Skako:This is a very simple issue. A Christian group/Mission undertook a mission to host an IDP in Edo State. It is only natural for them to decline to allow any faith based group other than their's to seek to associate with the IDP's directly. This is where MCAN missed it. If sincerely, their well being is all you care for, then send the relief materials to the management of the camp in the presence of the press/media along with your Spiritual admonitions. Chikenan. All the IDP's need to know is that some muslim brothers/sisters sent help their way, that's enough encouragement. Continue to build a cordial relationship with the camp leaders, and prayer-fully wait for the situation to improve. Remember that these people were practically displaced by conflict raised by self-professed radicalised islamists; that's enough to tells you that a certain air of mistrust should be expected both from the management and the IDP's. Any aggressive approach is automatically suspect from both management and IDP's. Asking them to even build a mosque within the camp is a just dumb thing to say; its like asking the Sultan of Sokoto or Sanusi Lamido to build a church for Christians within his palace/community for Christians within the community as proof of his belief in freedom of religion in Nigeria. That's just crazy. You already know what the answer will be. In any case, is the presence of a mosque a requirement for praying or practising one's faith in the Holy Quran?? For those who seek to pray, water and. a clean clearing is enough, highest a mat or two. It takes just one person to start, before you know it, more will follow suit. As par forcing people to convert to Christianity, I doubt that greatly. It is a thing totally unheard of across the entire Christian world, if it is true that this really happened in Nigeria, of all places Edo State - then Nigerians have set another world record besides corruption for themselves. I believe that the core purpose of the visit to the camp by MCAN was to evangelise, and it is natural for the management of the camp to resist. As far as I am concerned, the management asking MCAN to handover the relief materials to them was not only proper but was a sound/diplomatic manner of meeting MCAN "half-way" on their request. If ever a muslim camp was setup, this is exactly what any other faith based group outside islam would have been asked to do. Infact, there are even muslim groups in this country that will swiftly decline to accept any offer of help from any faith based group outside islam except on the strictest terms of confidentiality;so I don't see why MCAN is crying wolf where there is none. If sincerely, MCAN truly cares and was concerned about the plight of the people there, such a request should have been welcomed with open arms. Besides considering the huge amount of investment required to raise a camp of that magnitude, I'm totally disappointed with the Spirit with which this thread was raised - knowing fully well that MCAN nor the Sultan himself can't afford to do the same by themselves - one who truly cares would at least be appreciative of the fact that someone else who has a different Spiritual view of life were first in line to choose to organise such an undertaking. Feeding those people alone requires millions of Naira per day and consistent sponsorship. This doesn't include cost of clothing and providing basic education. At least, MCAN should have considered that even if the Pastor-in-Charge may be the willing to let MCAN have unrestricted access, the same may not be said for sure about it's sponsorship base. I concur therefore that sentiments and not wisdom formed the basis of MCAN dealings with the Camp management. There is only one sure way to resolve this, which is to create a rehabilitation programme to re-integrate the camp dwellers into society, if not back into their original settlements/homes at least in places close to their homes, or with similar values of their own homes. Such a programme must give the occupants of the camp a choice to subscribe or decline. Thank God, you have the ears of the sultan of sokoto, such a plan will definitely attract his support as well as that of peace-loving muslim faithfuls across the country and the world. That way, you can have access to them and encourage them Spiritually in any way you please. One thing I know for sure, is that no where in the world are men compelled to be Christians - except somethings have changed which I don't know, in such a scenario I stand to be corrected/educated. As par deceiving or forcing or manipulating them to be Christians; that's speculative, except you are insisting that a gun was held to their heads or their lives where threatened for them to convert to Christianity - which is a method notably used by radicalised islamist groups like Boko Haram or child abductors of recent in Nigeria - then the onus falls on you to either prove your allegation or tender a public apology to the Camp management except you have no desire to interact with them again. As valuable as formal education is, without the necessary wisdom, tact and guidance that Spiritually inspired books can provide (in your case the Quran), you will only end up justifying whatever actions the Camp management choose to take against you. As par brainwashing or manipulating people to stone soldiers, that sounds awkward and spurious. In any case, given the fact that these people were forced out of their homes by violent conflict; why would the Sultan even go through the ministry of defence!!?? Does it make sense for them to be forcefully relocated without any form of information or enlightenment - probably to places where Boko Haram has suffered technical defeat - without allowing them to choose between leaving or staying or even seeking alternative arrangements/camps other than the ones they are in!!?? No effort to build a relationship/trust with the camp management not to talk of the IDP's, just wake up one morning and ask soldiers to move them; given the amount of trauma these people would have gone through, and knowing the kind country whey we dey, if na you, you go follow the soldiers, abi na U go first carry stone?? Where was the Sultan of Sokoto and MCAN all this while when families were sacked from their homes and children were separated from their parents in conflict created by radicalised islamists. If they had risen up to challenge of caring for their own, would there have been a need to create a camp faraway from their homes in Edo state?? I even remember when protests where raised by Edo state residents when these camps were to be setup, for fear of making Edo State a potential target for Boko Haram, the Sultan didn't step in. Now a christian camp mission comes in and they are crying wolf. My Good friend, go and strategize. Mixing sentiments, an aggressive approach, with your religion will only paint you folks in the image and likeness of the same kind of people the Occupants of the camp are running away from.......Terrorists!! Who are also self-professed practising muslims!! Be wise................... |
