debbiejosh:Many thanks for the info! All points noted. |
dupyshoo:Thanks for the info! So what happens if your work experience is different from your degree? I know that the APEGA registration allows one to pick "Application Discipline". In this case, I chose the discipline closely related to my work experience (& not my degree). Is this the right thing to do...? Is APEGA interested in degree obtained or experience acquired...or both? Just to clarify that both work experience are degrees are in Engineering - just different fields. |
vcole:Thanks sis...I really do hope I don't need a PoA for the phone purchase. Any one is the house that can help clarify this...? Thanks |
Oyamade:There was a question about my residency status (can't recall the exact wording) & I ticked yes that av got a PR status. That was all...wasn't asked for details of PR card or anything related. |
einsteino:No...I didn't have to write any exams (or maybe I haven't been notified yet). I think there is a requirement to write exams for PEng status...but I think this is post EIT (not sure so please don't quote me on that). |
nkigirl:Ah okay @ geologist. Once you get to the APEGA page you'll see guidelines for geologists (this is separate for engineers). All the best! |
Oyamade:That's so not true. Dupyshoo (as she stated) has completed her APEGA licensure...and she hasn't landed. I am in the assessment queue and I have not landed...so, I'm not sure what your friend means. |
Tobigo12:Hi - this is a personal decision which I think you've answered in your "even though I prefer Canada" statement. If indeed you prefer Canada then start reading the 1st page of this thread. Check that you meet the minimum requirement for work experience though. If you are eligible, you will be required to show proof of funds of $12300 CAD for your Express Entry application, so this is where your £10000 will come in handy. All the best! |
nkigirl:Hi - I started after I got my PR. I will summarise the steps below; Online application - This is located on the APEGA website. Just google APEGA and the route you are inquiring about is EIT. WES - if you already have a WES ECA report, apply for that to the upgraded to the course by course report required by APEGA. Application form (online) - fill in the form online.. You will need basic information regarding education, employers, work experience etc. You will also need to fill the self declaration form on character and sign electronically. Submit for processing - once you complete your electronic form, you'll be required to pay for the process to begin. Total payment (minus WES fees is $162.72). Your application will not proceed until after payment has been made and after WES has submitted your documents to APEGA. You have 90 days to complete payment and submit all documents else APEGA will cancel your online application and you will have to start again. I will advise you hold on the APEGA payment until WES has completed the upgrade (you'll need to gauge the timing). Application processing - when APEGA has received all docs and payment, they will place you in a queue. You will be assigned an application coordinator who will be in contact with you to help and guide through the process. APEGA review process - your application moves to this phase where the board reviews your work experience, education qualification etc. You maybe asked for further docs. Board of Examiners Review - next phase of review (only God knows what they are reviewing lol) Decision - a decision is made whether to grant licensure, defer licensure or reject application. Post decision - if you do not agree with the decision there maybe options to appeal. Whew - this is the summary at the top of my head. Please refer to the online guide for APEGA for detailed step by step guidance including WES application for APEGA (it's different from normal WES). Again, any questions - give me a shout! |
dupyshoo:Oh wow - good I started early then! I really pray it's completed on time too. Note to all engineers looking to live and work (in their related field) in Alberta, please start your APEGA application early. |
dupyshoo:My sister - many thanks for the follow-up. That's so thoughtful of you. Thanks again I was actually going to send you a debrief email, but you beat me to it. Yes, WES have finally sent my completed ICAP to APEGA (just end of last week). Believe me, I had to chase my Nig Uni to verify my transcript again o...I'm so glad that's over now. Thankfully, I was still within the 90 day APEGA deadline, so that was ace. Have a great day ahead and enjoy what's left of summer. ![]() |
vcole:Hi vcole - many thanks for your input...always appreciated. So, I've got a question Re: Proof of Address (PoA). I always thought I could purchase a phone line and use the bill processed for that as a PoA to open a bank account. But now, if I truly need a PoA to purchase the phone line, how do you suggest I go about this - considering the fact that I wouldn't have my own accommodation asap and I intend to open a bank account asap for my PoF? |
Canadianfly:You just spoke my mind! That thing really gets to my bones ..... when I see it, I just waka pass. Hian! |
czaratwork:This is great to read. Indeed God has great plans for everyone - congratulations and all the best with settling in fully. ![]() |
adeza:This is so helpful...Many thanks ![]() |
tribeD:Hi - did WES give you any reason why they couldn't verify your first degree? It would have been good if that was sorted back then to make this process easier for you now. Okay, if WES claim they have your 1st degree transcripts, then I'm sure they do. Trust me, if they don't have it, they will let you know asap. You could also login to your WES account to see the docs they hold for you. There's always an audit trail of your WES activities etc. in your account. The number you've quoted is the phone number for WES. The issue is that you can be placed on hold for close to an hour....but eventually, they'll pick. I sent them emails via their "contact us" page...there is a form to lodge your enquiries and hit submit. They respond like a week after. I understand this WES / Nig Uni matter can be very frustrating, but all the best with it & let me know if you have any further questions. Shalom. |
TheWatcher212:I didn't request a separate transcript. All I did was to chase up my Uni to respond to the email they got from WES. I actually do not know what the re-verification process entails and I have no clue what was contained in the email to my Uni (perhaps WES asked for another transcript). The WES rep told me an email had been sent to my uni with instructions on what is expected of them. My uni kept it confidential as well, and told me they had responded to WES. It is my understanding that any correspondence between WES and Universities are highly confidential and should not be shared with the applicant - I guess that's why WES insist transcripts must be in sealed envelops. This is my opinion. |
tribeD:Hi - WES was very adamant about the re-verification process. They kept insisting that's how they work. After so many phone calls and emails to them, I gave up and contacted my Nigerian university to re-verify my transcripts. It was quite disappointing I must admit but thankfully I got it all sorted just before the ASUU / NASU strike and my evaluation is now complete. I wish you all the very best. |
nnekdre:Hi - You would need to fill in an online application for this. Google "acro police UK" and you'll find the link to the form. Standard service is £45 (10 working days), while Premium is £80 (two working days). Supporting docs to be included with the application are - Two proofs of your current address (and one must be dated within the last 6 months) / Copy of your passport / 1 recent colour photograph. Also, people have advised that the PCC be sent to someone you know & trust in the UK, and then the person sends you a scanned copy (coloured copy). This makes it faster. Hope this helps? |
Canadianfly:I think the same still applies...meaning as long as I have the travels in my travel history, I will scan and attach the corresponding visa pages showing markings and stamps. My risk appetite is very very low...so I prefer to take extra caution. |
tribeD:Okay...cool |
Algbenguze:Why wait for them to verify when you can scan the pages and include it? I believe we should do all we can to make the application process smoother and faster. It helps you & helps the VO get his/her job done faster and sleeker. My thoughts.... |
Virt:Hi - my advise: If the valid passport has no stamps on it and your spouse has travel history with relating stamps on the old passport, I will advise you scan pages of the old passport and submit that too. You only need pages that have visa markings and stamps. This is what I would do ......better safe than sorry. |
tribeD:Not sure I can fully answer your query because I didn't use a Nigeria or CAN address. I used a UK address and didn't have any issue. Why not try the step below; As you type into the “City” field, a list of pre-existing entries will appear. The list will narrow down as you continue to type each letter. If the city already exists in the list, you can select it by clicking on the name when you see it. If the city does not exist, you can continue typing and enter the new city name. Let's know if that works... All the best! |
Snappyfingaz:Okay - that's fine. Many thanks |
Ballerz:Now - this really cracked me up! All the best ![]() |
Hamiltondreamer:Thanks! I kinda like the wine one... |
Wura27:Bravo!!! I'll give you 3 out of 6 you figure out the 3 you missed. hahahaha |
toyogirl:Wow! That's indeed an oops moment I would be embarrassed too but the guy really handled it well. Thumbs up to him. |
Canadianfly:You too...? choi! |
Canadianfly:Hahaha noted! |
Wura27:hahahaha - I thought I was the only one that had people's images formed in my head... ![]() Anyways, I sincerely hope the picture you (now) have of me is hawt it gasto-be hawt! |

I was actually going to send you a debrief email, but you beat me to it.
