BoltAndUberAbj: you’re neither a driver on bolt or Uber you don’t even own a bicycle. Can you please fvck off this thread make person see better comments read? Don't be obtuse. As someone who patronises the car hailing platforms, I have an interest in this. As someone who hates the price fixing and anti-competitive behaviour of labour unions, I will express my opinion here and there is nothing an illiterate and aspiring agbero like you can do about it You are not an employee of Uber. You will be breaking laws if you try to impound the cars of Uber drivers who refuses to join your useless association. You are not employees so calling your association a labour union is out of place. Also, there are many ride hailing companies and you always have the option of operating your cab on your own without getting customers from Bolt or Uber. Only a greedy rent seeker would want to force other people to join a protest they have no interest in joining. As with most obtuse anti-market behaviour, your protest would fail woefully. |

Eriokanmi: Funny Guy. Let me shock you. The same Ogunlesi owns the Italian Railway Company. Such an info as this would never make any local news headlines because he's not a noisemaker No, he doesn't. Ogunlesi is not even a billionaire. Don't argue. Do your research. It's like someone managing the pension funds of Nigeria who then uses the collated funds to buy a company. Does he own the company? No. |

LastProphet: So Gatwick airport that he bought for $3.7billion is not up to Davido's $30million? Eya so sorry Ogunlesi is a private equity investor. He collates investors' money to make purchases of businesses and then collects a performance fee based on the profitability of the companies purchased. He is the not the one who has the money used to buy the airport. Neither does he own the airport like people like to claim. His company (of which he is one of the many shareholders ) runs the fund that owns the airports. In other words, it's not even his company that owns the airport per se but the fund managed by his company. TL/DR Ogunlesi is a fund manager and private equity operator. He doesn't own Gatwick. |

Deinfante: Read you comment again! Then this time, tell Uber and Bolt to go and Buy their own car and employ their own drivers! Cheap Idiot This is stupidity on your part Tell the unionists to leave the Uber and Bolt platforms and paint their cabs yellow and start operating cabs. No one forced anyone to be on Uber. Uber clearly has no desire to own cars so I don't understand why you are bringing up fallacies to make up a non existent point. It is very simple, any driver that does not like how things are done should leave the platform. Instead, you want to create yet another useless rent seeking group. |
Career › Re: Bolt/Uber Drivers To Start Warning Strike Next Month. by einsteine(m): 9:58pm On Apr 05, 2022 |
This is one of the reasons unions should be banned. In a free market, drivers who are not satisfied should quit the platform. You can go and do yellow cab if you think you are the reason the platform makes money. People patronise Uber and Bolt not you the driver so organising a cult to force higher fares is devilish and anti-competition. Now they will probably form gangs around to attack Ubers and Bolt drivers that did not join their idiocy. |

CSTRR: Nigerians are very untrustworthy.
What you can't do to banks, you would be doing it to these small business.
Anyway, once you people make them to fold by your constant defaulting of debts, let us see who will borrow you guys urgent 2k.
Maybe it is First bank or zenith bank. If Nigerians are untrustworthy, there won't be 100 or more loan apps in the playstore targeting Nigerians and begging them to take loans. Also, Soko loan is a multi billion naira business (albeit an illegal one) and is not a small business. Their margins are so large that even if half of their customers default, they will still rake in the cash. They basically launch a new app every month. |

Abudu2000: just leave these ignorant fools. By defaulting they are destroying their better chances in future. Soon landlords will start checking credit scores, island is already doing it. Even a house they won't find to rent Soko loan is illegal. They do not report to credit bureaus nor do they appear on a credit report. Also, these lenders are a direct cause of the defaults. You will be a fool to not expect defaults when you charge 50% interest for a 14 day loan. And 5% daily penalty for overdue payment. Compare this to bank's average interest of around 27% per annum. Soko loan is basically charging 20,000% compounded interest per annum. A 200k loan from sterling bank would cost you a yearly interest of about 40k. A 60k loan from Sokoloan would cost you a weekly interest of 15k. Why wouldn't customers default? Bear in mind that only the most desperate (and hence most likely to default) would take these expensive loans. |

Tripitaka: I do not think they have to expressly write that they will defame you. But I'll like to think there would be a clause like "in the event of you not repaying your loan, Soko Loan reserves the right to use any means to recover their money" bla bla bla And how does this help them recover the loan? If anything a lot of people have now understood how to game their system by using fake contacts. The threat of such embarrassment might have been a good way to force someone who can pay but has not paid but for someone who doesn't have the money to pay, if you like move the earth, the person won't be able to pay. If they were licensed, they would be able to report to the credit bureau instead of employing mannerless louts to send defamatory messages. Mind you, defamation is a criminal offence, especially when done via a written medium. They will end up going bankrupt because eventually there will be a critical mass of people who would realise that Soko lending is illegal and powerless at recovering funds and all that's needed to be done is to use fake contacts and change debit card after getting the loan. That's when the stupid loan sharks would understand that the job of a lender is done before giving out the loan not after. |

DamnnNiggarr:

Just like USA with a GDP worth of $24 trillion(2021 estimate) but has a gross external debt of over $21 trillion.
Imagine a country that has annual expenditure of $7 trillion but with annual revenue of $3.4 trillion.
If not that Nigeria's government is not transparent, Nigeria would've been one of the richest country in the world with an annual expenditure of $30 billion and annual revenue of over $50 billion.
I'm not too good in economics but with the knowledge I got in eco101, 102, I can unequivocally tell you that Printing more money doesn’t increase economic output – it only increases the amount of cash circulating in the economy. If more money is printed, consumers are able to demand more goods, but if firms have still the same amount of goods, they will respond by putting up prices. In a simplified model, printing money will just cause inflation.
*Suppose an economy produces $10 million worth of goods; e.g. 1 million books at $10 each. At this time the money supply will be $10 million.
*If the government doubled the money supply, we would still have 1 million books, but people have more money. Demand for books would rise, and in response to higher demand, firms would push up prices.
*The most likely scenario is that if the money supply were doubled, we would have 1 million books sold at $20. The economy is now worth $20 million rather than $10 million. But, the number of goods is exactly the same.
*We can say that the increase in GDP is a money illusion. – True you have more money, but if everything is more expensive, you are not any better off.
*In this simple model, printing more money has made goods more expensive, but hasn’t changed the quantity of goods.
So Mr huptin, why can't Nigeria just print ₦aira to tackle Nigeria's economic mess? Nah! It doesn't work that way. If only 20 bags of rice is produced in your location, assuming only only 5 people are able to purchase a bag at say 20k out of 100 person's due to lack of money and the government decides to print more money to be in circulation in the economy, and about 50 person's now have cash, now what will happen is that, more people now have cash and it's still 20 bags of rice that is being produced which will lead to high demand for a bag of rice. Do you know what the producers will do? They will respond by doubling the price of a bag of rice. I hope it's clear now. All these don't apply to the US because unlike other countries of the world, their currency is the global reserve currency. This allows them export their inflation. The debts they owe (including the printing of currency) would not have to be paid by actual resources. This is unlike the debt owed by Nigeria for which the resources of the country (crude oil et Al) must be sold to earn Forex to pay back the loan. |

If anything, the loan apps are the ones breaking the law by charging 30% interest per week and operating without licenses. It is the job of the lender to do credit checks. The onus is on the lender to ensure that the information provided by the intending borrower is correct. Has Jimoh Ibrahim ever been arrested for bad loans? |

Go do your research on why he was fired twice in Madrid and why he was fired in Everton, Milan and other clubs he managed then come back and let's talk football. Who was fired twice in Madrid? You obviously know nothing about football. Ancellotti is coaching Madrid for the second time so I don't know where you saw him fired the second time. Your other statements are baseless. Ancellotti is only second to Zidane in Madrid's coaches since Del Bosque. Those of us who have supported Madrid since 1998 know these things.
