I do not support the loan companies sending these messages but I understand why they're sending them. Nigerians don't like paying debt they owe. A typical Nigerian would owe you money and start avoiding you when it's time to pay up and if you happen to corner them they'd have one story or another to bore you with as though you don't have your own stories to tell.

I now don't lend anybody money anymore. if you ask to borrow from me and I'm moved to lend you the money I'd simply tell you I don't have the money then send that money I was moved to lend you to my mum. That way at least I know I've done some good with the money rather than stressing myself when it's time to get the money back.

Their strategy does not involve credit worthiness. It is preying on people's desire to avoid social and public embarrassment. They need just 20-30% of the people to keep repaying loans in order to be profitable. Even with 40-50% default rate, these Chinese loan apps are making money hand over fist.

He's paying interest so basically taking a loan to pay another one and it compounds.

The combination of short tenor and high (25-45%) weekly interest means someone who took a 60k loan today could potentially be owing 500k in six months because he would keep looking for new apps to pay off the old apps. Unless you pay off and delete the first one but who in his right mind would take a loan of 60k to pay 90k in 14 days if they have somewhere they are getting money from?

OP's solution is to simply default. 90% of the apps on his list are not registered financial institutions. There's nothing they can do other than embarrassment which is better than loan slavery.
