talk2anderson23: *Edo 2020: Youths storm major streets in Benin, canvass support for Obaseki’s reelection*
Youths in their hundreds from the 18 local government areas of Edo State on Tuesday staged a solidarity rally in major streets of Benin City, to pass a vote of confidence on the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu.
The youths under the aegis of ‘No Sidon Look’, charged Edo electorate to support Governor Obaseki for a second term in office following his administration’s developmental strides in all sectors of the state.
The Director General of the organisation, Mr. Portrait Peterson, who led other members and supporters, said the solidarity rally became imperative to sensitise Edo voters on the need to reelect Governor Obaseki come September 19, 2020, to enable him continue with his people-centered programmes and policies in the state. Peterson said: "Obaseki has done so much for the people of the state in the last four years as his developmental strides are visible in the 18 local government areas of Edo State. All sectors have benefited from his administration and leadership style.
“He has touched most areas of the people's lives and the frequent protests experienced in the past administration are a thing of the past in this present administration.”
Describing the governor as a silent worker who talks less and does more, the DG noted: "He doesn't talk much but works more. Come September 19, 2020, I urge all Edo people to vote wisely and return Obaseki and Shaibu to power for another four years following their performance".
The Deputy Director of the organisation, Mr. Kingsley Ebia, urged Edo people to utilise their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) effectively to re-elect Obaseki for his good works in education, agriculture and healthcare, among others, adding: "Civil servants and pensioners in the state no longer complain or protest over non-payment of entitlements because Governor Obaseki pays as at when due.
“Ize-Iyamu is a bad product that can't be sold to Edo people who are wiser now. I urge all Edo electorate to cast their votes for a performing governor, Godwin Obaseki.”
Traders, who commended the governor for his people-oriented reforms, programmes and policies, said Obaseki has continued to improve the lives of the majority of Edo people.
Mrs. Helen Osasuwa thanked the governor for his transformational strides in Edo, making the state an envy of other states across the nation.

ganisucks: Femi Fani Kayode insists that honor must be given to whom it is due, stating that the omission of some relevant persons in Nigeria's past and present history is a malicious move by the president.
The naming of roads, railways and many other projects after past and present Nigerian leaders and influencers have left many in awe, many state that the omission of some persons is just not justifiable, while others state that is is the president's call, not theirs.
FFK tweeting minutes ago condemned the omission of many other Nigerians who he thinks deserve to be honored, he made mention of past leaders, pastors, freedom fighters and many others who President Buhari excluded from the list.
Catching the eyes of many Nigerians is the exclusion of former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Onasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar'adua and some clergymen who have fought for the growth of Nigeria, Bishop David Oyedepo, Prophet TB Joshua and many others.
Making his condemnation known, he stated that we should not allow political games and gimmicks to get in the way of decision making, judgements and thinking, he insisted that honor should be given to whom it is due.
It is well known that Bishop David Oyedepo is a popular preacher, business man, author, architect and the president and founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, a church that has gained a global recognition based on it's faith and prosperity teachings.
Same goes to Prophet TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church For All Nation, SCOAN, a mega church based in Lagos State with members in attendance from all over the world. TB Joshua also has global recognition for his miracle, signs and wonders.

kahal29: The State Director-General of Obaseki/Shaibu Movement and Board Member of the Edo State Waste Management Board, Patrick Iyoha and two others have resigned their appointments.
The two others who resigned their appointments are the Chairman of the Edo State Post Primary Education Board, Pastor Gabriel Oiboh and the first member of the board, Osanyemwere Osawe, following alleged pressure being mounted on them to defect to the PDP.
Hon. Iyoha in his resignation letter dated 28th of July, 2020, thanked the Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, for giving him the opportunity to serve the Edo people, but stated that his reasons for resignation is personal.
Similarly, the Chairman of the State Post Primary Education Board, Pastor Gabriel Oiboh, in his own resignation letter, also dated 28th July, 2020, stated that he had considered the political happenings in the state as it affects his person, and the pressure to leave the APC, his party to PDP, a party he left since 2009.
He also stated that having prayerfully considered the options available to him, he has decided to remain in the All Progressives Congress.
Meanwhile, seven Councilors of Oredo Local Government Council, including the Councilor of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s Ward 4, have resisted pressure to defect to the PDP and joined the army of those who have decided to remain in the All Progressives Congress to pitch their tent with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the same vein, seven out of 10 Councilors in Uhumwode Local Government Council have reportedly pitch tent with Pastor Ize-Iyamu.
Recall that the Chief of Staff to governor Obaseki, Taiwo Akerele, two Commissioners, Hon Paul Ohonbamu, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon Omoua Oni-Okpaku, Commissioner for Environment and Sustenability and several appointees, had resigned their appointments from the Obaseki administration.

garfield1: For everyone, that have missed, or do not have details of all that have transpired so far, in the matter between Vijah Opuama vs INEC & 3 others at the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, all you need to know, are highlighted here.
At the last sitting, where all written addresses were adopted, Chukwuma-machukwu Ume, SAN (Counsel to the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State) said:
''Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo is a spare part who did not have any vote at the election; and, by virtue of Section 31 of the Electoral Act, 2010, no petition can be filed against a Deputy Governor''.
My opinion here is: This petition, is similar to the Case that led to the sack of Chief David Lyon (the then, Governor-elect of Bayelsa State), where, his deputy was alleged to have multiple and conflicting names on his credentials. So, LAWRENCE EWRUDJAKPO, is a spare part, as alleged by his SAN, who is then, Sen. Biobarakumo Degi-eremieyo, that was alleged to have multiple and conflicting names on his credentials?
However, P. D. Pius, Esq., (The lead counsel to the Petitioner, Vijah Inowei Eldred Opuama) counters:
''My Lord, I commend Section 285(2) of the Constitution, to this Honourable Tribunal, which provides that, the Tribunal is established to hear petition; whether the office of the Governor or Deputy Governor has been validly occupied''.
TRIBUNAL TO Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume, SAN (Counsel to the Deputy Governor):
"Stop playing to the gallery. You are taking this court for political arena. We are concerned with Certificate Forgery here''.
Furthermore, the DSS, confirms that, the name of the person who owns the certificate is, (EwhruOjakpA Lawrence O. E.), who is a different person from (EwhruDjakpO Lawrence O.)
And that, EwhruOjakpA Lawrence O. E., whose name is in the Rivers State Masters List for Prospective Corp Members, is from Rivers state; while, EwhruDjakpO Lawrence O., is from Bayelsa state.
It was also confirmed by the DSS that, the NYSC certificate with the name Ewhrudjakpo Lawrence O., who hails from Bayelsa state, does not have NSPM at the bottom of the Certificate; while, the one issued to EwhruOjakpA Lawrence E. O., who is from Rivers State, has NSPM written at the bottom of the certificate.
On the Witness' statement on oath of the Registrar, from Rivers State University of Science and Technology: he tried to smuggle, before the court struck out; as counsel to Vijah Opuama vehemently opposed the statement of the Registrar.
Meanwhile, NYSC says they are not in court with the documents, Ewhurdjakpo Lawrence O. is asking for; as, Ewhrudjakpo Lawrence's lawyer dispensed with the witness.
In addition, Ewhrudjakpo Lawrence, sought to tender documents with fresh correction fluid on it, through the Registrar of the Rivers State University; as, counsel to Vijah Opuama draws the Court's attention to it, so that, it will not be blamed on the court. fergie001: ...and an aberration to the Constitution.
This is because they have used same technicality on many cases before them, especially this CJN.
About 10 cases were in the SC when Section 285(9) was enacted. This CJN threw out all cases without citing fair hearing. As recently, the case of Lokpobiri suffered same fate because he filed 16 days after.
When can we say the technicality should suffice? . It is inconsistency from the apex Court which must have been taken care of when having their indoor debate on a case.Possibly factors necessitating the non adherence to the time frame are usually considered before SC decision on such a matter. It then that technicality is sustained if it is genuine or overruled if it is frivolous and an attempt to tamper with the justice. |

They keep saying fathers are working their ass off to provide for the family. They forgot they also have some emotional impact on their children too. How else do I make it clear to them ? . We need to acknowledge the fact that some responsible fathers provide for their families materially and work hard daily while many fathers are lazy and do not care about their families. Additionally. a lot if fathers do not bother about the emotions of their children let alone creating time for them. Why are we having increase in the rate of crime among young ones? Why a lot of teenegers sleep outside today? Even now how many fathers know where their children are this night? Many fathers dont have time to tutor their children again. Can you imagine a part one student buying Corola sport and his father did not ask him where he got money.Instead of querying him they are doing Thanksgiving in church and mosque. The blind leading blind to knowhere. If a man does not have time for his children but just looking for materialism by all means such a father is worshiping an unknown God.Such ones will bite their fingers in future. So fathers, monitor your children and educate them morally and emotionally and spiritually. It is through this that your labour will not be in vain. |

xynerise: Yes, I said so.
If you are of the school of thought that providing for the family along automatically makes you a caring father, then you are among those that risk being irrelevant to your children.
If you look at most families today, the children hardly mention their fathers when making a reference to something inspiring. I mean quoting what your father once taught you or something positive you learnt while growing up. I am referring to fathers of our time.
Today, everything is about making money and paying the bills. That is not enough. How close are you to your children? It is always the mother that attends to issues that trouble the children today. Even though fathers source for solutions at the end but the children will always remember the person that discovered the problems, or at least care to know what the problem is.
How often do we call our kids, sit them down and ask them about the kind of challenges they face in life?
Some fathers hardly call their children (far from home) on phone except the mother does and maybe pass the phone to him. This has made some people to call mostly their mothers on phone and explain situations to her rather than the father who provides the money to solve the situations.
You can see that despite most fathers provide the money, yet the mothers get most of the appreciation.
My point is, we shouldn't be too focus on just making the money. Let us remember we are also making a family too. . Most fathers are not just losing relevance but they have failed as fathers |

Helping with that info will go a long way. . 1 The truth is there are irregularities in Obaseki qualifications. All his affidavits were rejected in 2016.He has to explain the reasons for them. The court will decide on this matter. 2 I don't know the date of APC petition against Obaseki if it exists anyway and neither do I have access to the petition except what I saw online. “Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this constitution, every pre-election matter shall be filed not later than 14 days from the date of the occurrence of the event, decision or action complained of in the suit”.
Mind the word EVERY. I must have explained from a layperson perspective wrt to the Primaries. Lokpobiri didn't challenge the holding of the APC primaries....he was asking the Court to declare him winner.
In this case, INEC form CF001 was submitted by all parties on June 29, 2020.
If I may ask, what is the cause of action in this case? seanfer ejimatic . 1. If you file for divorce you need a copy of the wedding certificate to establish that wedding exists between the two patties in the first place..Wole Olqnipekun needs INEC publication showing Obaseki as a PDP candidate for his case to have credibility. PDP conducted his primary but INEC has not released the list of contestants in the forthcoming election. In view of this the petitioner is right to present his petition after the INEC publication of contestants. The INEC publication is an indication that all primaries have been completed .2. Wole Olanipekun will also present this case at the tribunal only IF Obaseki wins . 3 As I said yesterday the SC judgement on Degi in Bayelsa is a bad precedence for Obaseki. The apex court held that when there are persistent inconsistencies in names and qualification's of candidate the integrity of the person is questionable even if he has countless affidavits to support them In view of this, Obaseki has a lot of questions s to answer now. He may end up being another Degi in Nigeria. |
