Godfatherism and national leadership are parts of the Nigerian politics. OBJ claimed he was a national leader in APC during PMB second election but he was rendered useless when PMB won his second election even in OBJ ward. Keep thanking God on your victory .Leave godfatherism and nation leadership. They have come to stay in Nigeria.0
Omg! People are just wicked. Common 5k even though it's true they stole it at his level why should he downgrade him self so low because of 5k?
Simple he could have sack, but striping them naked that's so in human and cruel of him.
Wickness of the highest order
You dehumanised humans because of 5k when you give girlfriends and run girls more than that.... Did you not steal more than that when you were a minister?.You are not mature enough to rule in Delta.state.

Oghene1st: Akinwunmi Ambode did the right thing for not trying to do in Lagos what Obaseki did in Edo.
Reasons:
1. Ambode had nobody with him in Lagos State House of Assembly unlike Obaseki who enjoys the support of the Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Francis Okiye.
2. Ambode don't have the support of his 'Godfathered' deputy unlike Obaseki who has the full support of Philip Shaibu, a loyal and trustworthy deputy.
3. The PDP in Lagos which is under the weak leadership of Bode George has no member in any top political office in the state and in Nigeria compared to Edo state that has active Senators (2) and House of Reps (6) in the National Assembly.
4. Obaseki won the heart of Edo people by silencing the audacious thugs led by Tony Kabaka. Can you say that about Lagos?
5. Obaseki has many sympathisers in his former party APC, who worked for his re-election as Governor. The recognised Edo APC Faction Chairman is a good ally of Obaseki. That can not be said in the case of Ambode. All APC party members in Lagos lick the foot of Tinubu.
What I'm saying is that, it would be foolish for Ambode to pull that Obaseki's stunt in Lagos. Had it been he has done so, it might have damaged his political career.
Though, it is obvious that Muhammadu Buhari hates Godfatherism because he has been a victim of such practice. Now, under him, so many Godfathers were relegated in different States.
It is now up to Ambode who saved his political career to fight back. He lives to fight for good another day. That day should be closer than we all think.
. Ambode took the best step.He participated in the primary and lost.He had nobody behind him.If he had taken step to decamp he would be impeached by the house. Remember the house wanted to do so but for the support of Asiwaju.Tinibu
. I agree with his thoughts. People dont express themselves iin the same way..However I did not see where he used the word pigs in his contribution....
EmmaFantastic: Spot on! The day he disqualified Obaseki, that was the day APC lost the election. When Ize-Iyamu went to APC he knew he will/can defeat Obaseki EMPHATICALLY in a direct primary - he had the overwhelming support/backing of the leaders (whom Obaseki had been attacking, insulting, vilifying and marching on the ground). However, Oshiomhole over did it by disqualifying him. Even the APC leaders in Edo were very pissed, they wanted Obaseki to take part in the primaries. The plan was this: 1) Teach him a bitter lesson, demolish him and disgrace him - in fact, he was to come 3rd in that electiion after Ize-Iyamu with Odubu in 2nd place. 2) After losing APC primaries, he can no longer take part in the primaries of any other party, by virtue of the current amended electoral act - that would have been end of the road for him. But Oshio spoilt all their plan. Well, the battle ahead is still very loooong! This is just round 1, the numerous litigations on ground are too much, in fact, I even think both APC and PDP are most likely to end up not getting the governorship eventually. Even if Ize-Iyamu had won, this is what I still would have said: It's too early to be jubilating and making stupid remarks. Nobody imagined Bayelsa state will end like that - a place where David Lyon won with a monumental landslide (more than 200, 000 votes!), which has never happened before. Only for Diri to end up with the governorship.
There is Godfatherism in Nigerian politics and it will be so for life. Even in abroad they have theirs God fathers.APC and PDP and some other parties have godffatherismm at the local state and federal levels. The possibility of Obaseki movement from PDP to APC is 70 to 30..He has affinity with the presidency and who and who in APC.They must have reached an agreement on his return to APC after election. However I believe if he wants to return to APC it should be after a year of being in PDP Nigerian politicians cannot be trusted. for they know how they do their business.
. Tinubu is not a factor in the reelection of Obaseki. Many loyalist APC governors worked for his success because they we're not happy with his disqualification. Obaseki should have been allowed to contest the primary election of APC like Ambode..Additionally all that Osiomole said on Iyamu 4 years ago had no effect on the Obaseki reelection. Remember Nigerians said more that about the past reign of PMB. yet he won the presidential election twice. EDO people especially APC members believed in their own reasoning that there was injustice in the disqualification of Obaseki..That added more to the success of the Governor .
. He has a right to go to Court but I will advise him not to do so. He should not waste his time by going to court. Followers of APC and PDP voted Obaseki as the governor for reasons known to them. Who says there is no second , third, or even fourth opportunities.? Another opportunity. will still open for him to contest.
. If this is the wish of Edo people,so be it. I predicted Iyamu as a winner but I got it wrong God alone can do things perfectly . Congratulations to Edo people ...Congratulations to Obaseki .

oyatz: Both so many people on social media are saying 'Edo no be Lagos'
. In 2016 APC won with 350 something thousand while PDP had 240 something thousands. 4years later I don't think the table will turn in favour of PDP...Today's election is between APC and Obaseki.APC will do every thing to win the election Lagos sentiments apart. Most of the house members ate in APC. they have senators too. The APC structure is very strong in Edo..With my permutation I see the coast becoming clearer for APC victory.
I am not from Edo but it will be miraculous if Obaseki wins.I don't foresee entire APC structure losing to PDP especially Obaseki..APC members have candidates occupying positions in and outside the state. They will not allowi Obaseki to collapse the party structure and ridicule their elders in and outside the state....APC will win .That is my prediction.
AlhajiUmani: PASTOR IZE IYAMU CANCELS MEGA RALLY AND BLASTS APC GOVERNORS FOR DUMPING HIM
Information reaching our desk now is that pastor OSAGIE Ize Iyamu planned to hold his final rally today at 3pm to finally showcase his artificial support base at Garrick Memorial.
After the stage has been arranged and several bookings have been made, a total number of twelve Governors called this morning and informed the APC of EDO state that they are not coming for the rally and that they are not interested.
As we speak, they are already calling the musicians, artists and market women that were mobilized to the rally to make a refund of their money.
Currently, Ize Iyamu has crashed, he does not have the so called federal backing. It is clear that the APC governors don’t want him. It is clear that he has been rejected by the people.
Concerned people of EDO state please help me ask pastor Ize Iyamu why he cancelled his rally slated for 3pm today.
. Because of covid 19 APC did not plan for a mega rally at all.The report is false and orchestrated by those supporting PDP....I wish Edo people good luck tomorrow
. When Obaseki was in APC PDP described him a bad leader. When he joined PDP he became a good leader with praises.Four years ago APC described Iyamu of PDP then an incompetent candidate but now when he is in APC he has become a competent candidate.. Politicians are just dribbling us and amassing wealth for themselves. When will the masses be free from being their tagalongs?
. I disagree with Soyinka and Adesina.Division in Nigeria started in the 60s leading to coups in 1966.All other coups were premised on our division. We only appear One Nigeria on the surface but in our hearts we are divided. The solution is the promotion of rotational presidency. Until then we will be deceiving ourselves with one Nigeria. Selfishness is the root cause of our mental division in the country.......Thank you Nairalanders It seems I have been allowed to comment on political matter now.
. I font agree with Adesina neither Soyinka.Division in Nigeria started in the 60s.It is this that led to coups of 1966 and other coups in Nigeria were premised on ethnic division in Nigeria. Yoruba's Hausas and Igbos are all protecting their interest. The division will be minimized if rotational presidency is pronoted. For now we appear to be One Nigeria but in our hearts we are divided because of our selfish interest. ....... I have been allowed to comment on politics now..Thank you my fellow nairalnders.
massmediang: Orlu road is one of the most popular areas in Owerri, Imo State capital. You would expect that such an area will have the best of schools but what you are about to read will shock you. This has also been like this before the COVID-19 lock down, though its a bit worse now. So don’t think it got to this level because it was abandoned during the lock down. This is a disaster waiting to happen.
As schools gradually resume after the COVID-19 lock down, pupils and teachers in Orlu Road Primary School, Imo State, Nigeria, are in serious danger of witnessing a health hazard or environmental disaster.
This school has actually been this terrible even before the COVID-19 lock down began months back. The buildings are obviously weak and the environment is a health disaster to the children in this school. Primary six pupils are already preparing for their common entrance examination though the state government has not yet announced resumption date for schools in the state, as at the time of filing this report.
This message is coming early enough to avert any coming disaster. We gathered that pupils of the school have already been told to start cleaning the classrooms. Can you imagine that? Teachers are also cutting the grasses by themselves. This is pathetic for primary education in Nigeria, especially in Imo State.
. I observed the Nairaland operators have disallowed me from commenting on political matters. It has been difficult to comment on politics but I can do so on other matter. I want fellow nairalanders to look into this and ask then my offence............On our public schools. It bothers me to see how public schools ate dying promoting private schools..Schools are eyesores, teachers are not motivated. Politicians take their children abroad or first class private schools in Nigeria. Regretably this may continue for a long time.
How Tinubu Failed To Stop Ogunwusi From Becoming Ooni Of Ife. by : Olawale Olaleye
Some folks had challenged me to put out my facts as far as the emergence of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II is concerned and I’m doing just that now. From a few of the responses on the thread of my previous posts, it’s evident that the truth had been lost in the mix, either by design or default. But I’ll see to it now and set it straight.
In a concise form, I’d try as much as possible to reveal some of the untold stories of the emergence of the Ooni, with the hope that those, who had disagreed with me, would come out with their own facts, not necessarily agreeing with me.
I’d like to start by admitting that, Oba Ogunwusi as the 51st Ooni of Ife, was definitely ordained by God, and not any man, else enough efforts were made to frustrate his emergence. However, it was a destiny fulfilled through the instrumentality of certain individuals, but certainly not the Ifa Eko or Lion of Bourdilon as many delightfully believed.
For the record, Ile-Ife has four ruling houses, and I will list them with the respective predecessors to the current Oba. They are, Ooni Ademiluyi from the Lafogido rulling house; Ooni Aderemi, from Oshikola rulling House; Ooni Sijuade from the Ogboru rulling House and of course, the incumbent, Ooni Ogunwusi, from the Giesi rulling House.
Thus, following the passing of Ooni Okunade Sijuade, in July of 2015, Ile-Ife was literally thrown into a frenzy and turmoil, as the selection of a successor had elicited the interest of Lagos political leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who had an agenda to install his friend, Prince Dipo Eludoyin. But the prince was not interested and refused to be dragged into the tussle for the Obaship. In fact, he left for London, just to be out of sight.
Not satisfied, Tinubu went on to poach Prince Ayedun, a former commissioner in former Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s cabinet. That too was not to fly, because of the more intricate dimensions to the choice of the new Ooni, which would not ignore the standard process.
Mindful of the fact that the selection of the new Ooni was to come from the rotational system gazetted by the government of the late Chief Bola Ige in 1980, it would be nearly impossible to bypass the Giesi ruling house. That one factor, unfortunately, stood against all the machinations of Tinubu known to disrespect rules and process in everything.
With the Gazette, the Giesi rulling house was next to produce the new Ooni but Tinubu, as he is known to do with his other choices, wanted to politicise this renowned Yoruba tradition for his own political interests and gains. Whatever they were! But the Ife people resisted any such moves and his plot was subsequently exposed to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who would naturally stand in opposition camp with Tinubu.
At this point, Obasanjo, a close friend to the leader of the Giesi rulling house, Professor Adeyemi Aderibigbe, a 95-year old former Deputy Minister of Defence to the then Defence Minister Ribadu (father of Nuhu Ribadu), took it up upon himself to salvage the Yoruba culture and tradition.
Having had a full knowledge of Tinubu’s moves to compromise the process, Obasanjo made a call to Aso Rock and told Professor Aderibigbe to go and report Tinubu’s efforts at truncating the traditional process of selecting the new Oba by its 16 Kingmakers to the president, Muhammadu Buhari. Of course, Baba Iyabo facilitated the appointment, even though the professor too has a rich network at the seat of power.
Incidentally, and perhaps, by providence, on the day Professor Aderibigbe got to the Villa, he was ushered into a waiting area and behold, Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande were already seated, also waiting to meet with the president.
After about 10 minutes, President Buhari walked in and immediately elected to speak with the oldest man first, whom he knew from his previous cabinet as Head of State.
Typical of old men, who have nothing to lose, Professor Aderibigbe wasted no time to expose Tinubu’s plans in the presence of the President and Baba Akande and the President immediately turned to Asiwaju for response and reason for his involvement since this was an Osun matter and not Lagos State.
Obviously not expecting such an attack, Tinubu was clearly cornered and immediately backed down on his mission to install the new Ooni. The president’s intervention needed no further clarification.
Meanwhile, it is true that the Elegushi had earlier taken the Ooni to Tinubu before his eventual emergence, in the hope that he would buy into the idea, but Tinubu’s mind was already made up on the person he wanted as the new Ooni and that visit was just a formality. It was of no consequence. Oba Ogunwusi was the preferred choice, allegedly tipped for the throne even by the late Ooni.
I say with authority that when the Ooni, during his consultations met with Asiwaju Tinubu, the only thing he said to him was: “You can never be Ooni”. That’s it!
So, if you actually knew the story and still have your facts other than these, let’s talk about your authority. He didn’t make him Ooni. He vowed he’d never be Ooni and was shocked he became Ooni.
Except you have anything solid, please, you can’t compete with my facts. I can beat my chest and hedge my bet.
Besides, Aregbesola too had been receiving calls from prominent people, who prevailed on him not to disrupt a process already known to tradition. He was said to have squealed to his leader, that there might be crisis in Ile-Ife if he altered the process and urged that things be left as they were, because he was on the ground as governor.
Of course, that’s Tinubu for you. When Hon. Abike Dabiri and others took Hon. Mulikat Adeola to him in 2011 as the choice candidate for speaker, House of Representatives, how did that visit change the fact that he later had a deal with the other side and conceded the slot of the South-west to the north for purely selfish reasons, even after he had given his word to Mulikat.
Therefore, for those who did not know what the facts are, stop the falsehood. Tinubu did not support the Ooni, let alone make him one. He has no stake whatsoever in his Obaship. Pure and simple!
. Thank you for your analysis I will however look at the emergence of Ooni Ogunwusi from another dimension to corroborate what you said...When OBA Sijuwade died Ife people by tradition and rotation knew Gieesi ruling house was the next to produce the Ooni.Giesi ruling house is at Moore in Ife.There is a ward in the area. The More ward is known for supporting APC in every election .So APC in Osun favoured the ruling house. In fact Sikiru Ayedun is from Giesi house..When Ife chiefs went to Osogbo to meet with Raifu Aregbesola the then governor he told them that with the record before him from the file he got from the Ministry of Local Government it is Gieesi ruling house that would present the next Ooni. So he told the chiefs to present a candidate from the family.Additionally when Obasanjo came to Ife he told the chiefs to install a good candidate for the throne because Ooni seat is a special throne in Yoruba Land. The only ruling house that was opposing Giesi i house then was Lafogido ruling house .The house went to court to challenge the process of Obaship in Ife.The Lafogido believed it was their turn because Giesi allowed Ogboru to present Oni in 1980. Giesi house felt cheated by the choice of Ooni Sijuwade in 1980 and it was reported that they did not take part in Ife modakeke war in 1980 and1983 including that of 1997.Having zeroed the kingship to Giesi house a lot of people came out to contest including a man who contested the throne with Ooni Sijuwade in 1980 now 85 years. Sikiru Ayedun and Maye of Ife Raymond' Adedoyin with many others came on board for the contest. .Money was spent by the princes of Gieesi house as expected.Ife people believed that since Giiesi is known for APC the party will support the house to present a king...OBA Adeyeye was favoured by Ife chiefs. In my opinion I think he was ordained to be a king by God.His father ,Ropo Ogunwusi ,a former journalist ,said his grandfather at birth usually called him Ooni Adeyeye when the new kabiyesi was still a young child.. When Lafogido ruling house led by Sooko Adedoyin withdrew its case on Friday the governor Aregbesola announced the approval of Ooni Ogunwusi as the new Ooni of Ife. on Saturday.
