I disagree with you sir.. Obaseki disappointed Edo people today including me.If he had after the screening publicly presented his certificates it could have been another thing....Surprisingly he has no defence..... He dug the grave of his disqualification.

. Does the senate have the right yo issue the warrant of arrest? answer is NO.Invitation can be sent to the invitee and copies sent to the presidency. IH he refuses a court of law can be approached to mandate him to appear before the senate if the case involves investigation..This however is an extreme case and may be rare.

It will be subject to heavy litigations. This SC of technicality will do justice to it.

The tribunal shouldn't exceed 180 days. Now this same tribunal has even usurped the time frame for the Appeal Court.

I believe the Court of Appeal should have recalled this panel and inaugurated another. As the case is...It is statute-barred by virtue of the time of its inauguration.

So only UST has the onus to present a Masterlist, not even the President can.

For the case of the NYSC....the petitioner didn't invite nysc.....the body saddled with the responsibility in issuing NYSC certificates.
The DSS has already authenticated that yes NYSC effected the correction.

I think NYSC once came to the court and declared that the change was effected by the NYSC though no reason was given.Additionally it seems the petitioner was just taking a step forward and three backward in his approach to the petition.

. The petitioner invited the respondent to come and present his certificate.He came yesterday with the certificate.Why did he withdraw his application? The respondent had the privilege of being cross examined and tendering his certificate. It is illogical to tell the court that fresh application would be made and the certificate would be tendered without the respondent in court.. The petitioner only wasted the time of the court and the respondent.His case MAY end nowhere unless we have another development.

It seems you have given insight I needed on what transpired today.The petitioner made an application for the court to subpoenae the respondent .The court approved it.Today he applied for the withdrawal of the application I want to logically conclude that it was approved by the court.So no need for respondent to come and he can present what he likes to the press.Verification of the certificate is not necessary again. In my opinion the decision of the petitioner today may as a result of the bargain he made possibly with the respondent. Additionally he strength of the case has been weakened.By truncating certificate presentation today, the respondent may apply for withdrawal of the case finally.

Without partiality and favouritism to the parties on the tussle,three things are of concern to me.1 Whyy did LMN candidate withdraw invitation of Deputy governor to come to the court.Was he the person who invited the deputy governor? It was justice Sirajo who made the invitation not LMN candidate.2 Did he present the certificate in the court today?3 Has the authenticity of the certificate he showed to the press verified? There is need to compare the CTC copy brought by the NYSC with the one in possession of the respondent .

. The Deputy Governor has been advised to appear because of its implication.If he did not want to appear he should send the original copy through his lawyer.There would be drama when he comes. As I said earlier there is more to the story of certificate forgery.

1. Majek Fashek various translations of his name Fasheke (Ifa-Kii-she-eke) include “high priest who does not lie”, “powers of miracles” and “(system or medium of) divination does not lie”.

2. After Majek’s parents separated, Fashek remained in Benin City with his mother and joined the choir in his local Aladura Church and learned to play the trumpet and guitar whilst composing songs for the choir.

3. In the early eighties Fashek, who at the time went by the stage name Rajesh Kanal, joined the group Jastix with McRoy Gregg, and was lead singer for Black Rice. They were best known as the in-house band on the show Music Panorama on NTA Benin City.

4. In 1988, shortly after Jastix disbanded Fashek, he began a solo career by releasing the album Prisoner of Conscience and became Nigeria’s top reggae artist after the song Send Down The Rain became the most popular song of the year.

I will be seeing him ending this month.....I will ensure he carries that out. Same happened with his BEng Cert...he had to return that and had it changed.

He works for a multinational and till date hasn't changed it. That makes no difference.

Please advise your brother that pending the time he will correct the wrong spelling he should go and get a sworn affidavit in court that he is the owner of the certificate and they mistake on its is from NYSC.Additionally he should notify the Board now on writing and keep a copy for reference purpose.Dont wait until it will be used against him.....

He is citing immunity to refuse coming to the panel.
He might be right however, his lawyers must have advised him not to, so as not to incriminate himself.

VJ Opuama is as well asking for cancellation of the elections, and praying the tribunal to allow INEC conduct another wherein he will be a candidate with the PDP and APC candidates disqualified.
Asking for this without joining his party?

. The respondent may want to evade cross examination in court as you said.However this is a tribunal matter. He should have a legal team there and witnesses.This is enough for the tribunal to base its judgement.So his presence is not necessary. Conversely the petitioner cannot ask the court to allow him take part in the reelection without standing on a party. If certificate forgery is true this prayer cannot be given by the tribunal.
