Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, has berated former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, for failing to stand up to greet the Ooni of Ife at the Coronation of the Oniru of Iruland in Lagos state earlier in t

https://mobile.twitter.com/realFFK/status/1303938155624759296
The Ooni of Ife had arrived the event and was walking to the high table when he stopped by to greet people and Tinubu. All of them should have prostrated and knelt down as the custom demands but for their seating arrangement. However all of them except Tinubu stood up and bowed to greet and respect Onirrisa .I totally condemn Tinubu for his shameful conduct. This is an affront to Yoruba tradition. that demands a total respect for kings regardless of their age..He should therefore apologise to Yoruba kingdom in general.

Please don't mind my English..

I will like to keep my identity because of my safety, I am from Oyo state (Ibadan) and i am having my NYSC service in Asaba.

I got a call last week Friday around 11:43am from my PPA principal asking me why i haven't report and i told her that i will be in Asaba this weekend.

I did fulfil my promise by going this Saturday (5 sept) to cut the story short when we reach Ore Benin road (6pm), this husky black Mopol officer stop our Toyota Siena car (public transport), he ask us to get down and he approach me remove your ear phone mister man in which i did and ask me what do i do for living? and i answered with a friendly smile sir Am a youth corps, then he reply me "Really" where is your ID card and i show him and he jokingly reply me u be Yoruba boy and i said yes Sir.

Then he ask for my phone, that's when i knew something is not okay, I actually gave him my phone and he kept on searching through my what'sapp message, Inbox and pic gallery. The next thing i will hear is Mr man move to that side (my heartbeat was already running madly) he ask me why can i have 85k in my account, Why am i using 2 what'sapp account. The next thing he started calling me names you this lazy yahoo boys, god catch u today, krokor dey ur yansh this time.

I beg him to let me go that am not a yahoo boy but all my plead fall into zero then he start to threaten me that he will hand me over to EFCC then he remove his handcuff and I plead to him multiple times then his colleagues came to me which i thought he want to help me beg him only for him to say "oh boy u sef do normal and water him flower" to my surprise one those boys selling gala and drinks came to us and brought out a POS machine and this stupid Mopol force me to transfer 80k then he release me but the strange thing is that these police officers are not with their tags to reveal their names and numbers and they kept calling eachother in nicknames like scorpion, Rambo they only wear that Mopol polo shirt and carry AK 47 rifles.

The painful part of my ordeal is that the 85k is my only savings.....I know that the Lord am serving will surely punish them....Police is not your friend o
. 1 One thing about police men is that many of them also do yahoo yahoo. So if they see one they quickly identify the person as their colleagues. 2 If you son want police yo call you a yahoo yahoo do the following: 1 dress well 2. don't wear crazy jeans. 3 Let your hairs style be decent. 3 With those things outlined in No 2 you will not be harassed again.....Sorry for how they treated you as a youth corper. .Possibly your appearance betrayed you on that day

Politics › Re: Can Apc Participate In A Fresh Election In Bayelsa State? by ejimatic: 2:05pm On Aug 26, 2020

By David Tobi Oyesowo Esq

Many activities prelude the conduct of elections. These activities are varied in dimensions as they range from declaration of interest by eligible candidates under a preferred political party, to the struggles that permeate the primary elections, and finally to the great battle of the titans that will eventually crown the winning candidate, which is the main election.

These activities are not without their dramas and intricacies. One of the intricacies is the avoidable occurrence that shook the whole country with the Supreme Court Judgment in the Bayelsa Election, on the eve of the swearing in of Mr. Lyon. This judgment no doubt shook the country with wild applause and condemnation from different opinion givers.

The judgment, not only shook the country, it redefined the political landscape in the oil rich state, as it ushered in “a new order” other than what the electorate bargained for.

Be that as it is may, that is gone.

However on 17th August, 2020, the tribunal sitting in Abuja handed down her judgment, and nullified the election of Mr. Diri and ordered a fresh election to be conducted within 90 days. The tribunal predicated her judgment on the ground that, the ANDP Logo was omitted on the ballot in the February Election.

The position of the law is clear concerning the grounds for an election to be nullified as contained in Section 138 of the Electoral Act. One of the salient grounds is that the petitioner must have been unlawfully excluded from the election. A ground which the ANDP prayed for and was upheld by the Honorable Court (tribunal). See Section 285(2) of the 1999 CFRN As Amended.

Interestingly, this judgment has revived the hope of party faithfuls on the likely comeback of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress who was the initial winner before tragedy struck.

It is imperative to state that the judgment handed down yesterday by the tribunal is subject to an appeal up to the Supreme Court by the affected parties and without prejudice to the right of the affected party, I wish them well.

However, assuming without conceding that the Supreme Court upholds the judgment of the tribunal and holds that “fresh” election should be conducted within 90 days, the question is, “Does APC stand a chance?”

This has made me to look for the meaning of the word “FRESH” in the Law Dictionary which means “a course just starting”.

It is imperative to also bear in mind that according to the INEC Guidelines and Electoral Act particularly section 33, political parties can only make replacement of their candidates within a period of 30days which has since lapsed. This above position will be the arguments and opinion of some persons as regards the judgment and by this position, the APC has been shut out.

However, the jurisprudence of law is to enable lawyers to think outside the box and in this case, I will appraise the meaning of the word “fresh”.

In the legal parlance, it means DE NOVO, which means starting fresh, or over again. In BABATUNDE .V. PAN ATLANTIC SHIPPING AND TRANSPORT AGENCIES LTD & ORS (2007) LPELR – 698-SC, the Supreme Court holds “De Novo” as ‘New’, “a fresh beginning” “a start”.

Per Muhammed JSC said the consequence of a De Novo is as if nothing had “existed”.

Similarly in OBINWENBI .V. CBN (2011) LPELR -2185 (SC) PER RHODES VIVOUR JSC held that fresh is to start DE NOVO, or to start all over again.

In other words, where fresh election is ordered as in this instance, it is assumed that the earlier elections and proceedings will be jettisoned and a new course of event will be allowed to flow. If this position is upheld, with the conduct of fresh election, it will open the gate for APC and its candidates to participate in the election.

It is necessary to state as well that court orders must be expressed to avoid imputations from litigants, where the orders contained in the judgment do not expressly state that the APC and its candidate should be exempted, there is nothing stopping INEC from allowing APC to participate in the elections, more so that the Supreme Court Judgment that sacked Mr. David Lyon was based on a pre-election matter.

I said on the following day the judgement was given that If it is upheld by the appeal and SC ,APC stands a chance of contesting in the fresh election. The judgement implication means no election took place in Edo on the 19 November last year. If it is a rerun APC is out but a fresh election means APC is a partaker. The constitution says rerun must take place within 3months same applies to bye election. It is however silent on a fresh election like this.In my opinion since all the procedures for the first election have been set aside the speaker of the house should be given six months to fill the vacant position. It will allow INEC to start the process again. I hope the umpire has learnt from their mistake. Logically if ANDP will substitute its candidate for a fresh election APC can do so for its candidate. Finally I agree with the citation of precedences contained in the analysis...

Good day people , I want to report a case of theft and bad security , my friends phone was stolen in a bus ,take note, this phone was passworded , so he felt SAFE ! , ONLY TO RECEIVE THE SHOCK OF HIS LIFE, his FIRST BANK ACCOUNT HAD BEEN DEBITED , IN LESS THAN 9 HOURS , how could this be , a bank that parades itself as one of the best , be so easily breached ! , That means , the only thing protecting any customers account is their phone and not the bank ! , I was annoyed when he told me this , a certain HARRISON ONYEKACHI IS THE SUSPECT , we went to the bank for help and they told us they can't do anything but block the account , is this fair ? They have refused to help us , FIRST BANK has refused to help us track down the suspect , please moderators , help this reach the front page , many other individuals should know the level of protection that FIRST BANK provides them , I attached a screenshot and a PDF of the fraud .
. I pity your friend for the loss of the money..I however blame him for his tardiness to block his account. When your phone is missing or stolen the next step immediately is to go to the nearest branch of the bank to block the account . Some banks even have codes to use on another phone to block the account. DO NOT RELY ON YOUR PHONE password because it will be disabled at the end by thief or his associate. The First bank should not be blamed because the thief has stolen your IDENTITY with your phone in his hand.I It is believed that you are the one operating the account by the bank .If he used your ATM the bank can show his face through their CCTV.Accept my sympathy for this development God will return what you lost to the thief in many folds...

In the video, the man is seen going down on one knee to ask the woman to marry him. The woman didn't seem pleased and she walked away.

The man starts crying at this point and goes after the woman then kneels again.

His action caused a scene and made people gather to plead with the girl to say yes. Some even lost patience with the girl when she refused to accept the proposal.

Lawyers will have reasons for their appeals .It is the duty of the judged to appraise the appeals and decide accordingly. The majority judgement in the case under review disagrees with the disqualification of ANDP candidate for the seat of DG on the following. grounds: 1. INEC has no legal right to disqualify any candidate or party. The duty of INEC is to supervise an election not to disqualify. Only Courts can do so.There are various judgments on this even in the SC.All those that have been removed from offices went through court processes. It is of interest to note that no law in our constitution and electoral act empowers INEC to disqualify a candidate.A party had a primary ,produced a candidate only to be rejected by INEC .It is unconstituional.I agree with the lead judgement that a fresh election should be conducted in Bayelsa. 2 On the issue of 14 days ,the majority judgement is of the opinion that it should start 14 February when Diri was declared winner since it is presumed by law that with the declaration of Diri election has been concluded. Then any appeal against it can come in....I agree with this conclusion. That is why ANDP went to tribunal after the declaration. Diri's Appeal: It is good for Diri to appeal since he was a respondent in the case. However I did not see in his appeal where issue of legality of INEC to disqualify ANDP candidate is mentioned. All is about status barred of 14 days. Justice Sirajo' s judgement : The judge in .his judgement agreed with the decision of the INEC to disqualify ANDP candidate. He did not talk about whether INEC has the right to do so or not. This is a grey area in his judgement. Additionally he did not talk about when the 14 days should start in the judgement. He only discussed INEC regulation which only a court of law can interpret and decide on. Appeal Matters arising: The appeal court will decide the follows: 1. Did the INEC have the poweer to disqualify candidates in view of previous judgement against that? 2 When did the 14 days of ANDP should start in view of the declaration of Diri on 14 February 2020? No.let me explain it from my own viewpoint.a holistic and community reading of the law will reveal the intendment of the lawmakers.every thing is not spelt out clearly,so many things are left unsaid.while inec clearly do not have the powers to disqualify any candidate based on constitutional provisions,it can do so if any of its guidelines is breached that is if it submits names outside the days provided or parties failed to conduct primaries.

In elementary govt, only the judiciary has the powers to interpret our constitution and give judgment not inec except inec laws were disobeyed.the andp submitted names within the inec timeframe.inec now claimed that its running mate is not up to 35 years which is illegal.they don't have such powers to decide whether a party obeyed the constitution or not.in the eyes of the law,it is assumed that everything submitted by parties to inec are correct and regular and can only be proven otherwise by the court not inec.
Why is it that inec did not disqualify senator biobarakuma degi? Are you telling me that inec does not take note of several discrepancies in the information submitted by parties? Why didn't inec disq razaq atunwa who submitted fake nysc? How come inec is now disqualifying this party? It is not in the place of inec to interpret whether a candidate is qualified or validly nominated as spelt out in the constitution but it can only do so if its guidelines are breached.

The constitution and electoral act has stipulated the requirements to be met by candidates before being eligible to contest.nowhere was inec empowered to determine whether they are eligible or not...cc fergie, ejimatic
. Even if INEC regulation is breached it should go for an injunction in a court to disqualify a candidate. It has no legal right to disqualify a party or a candidate.. I support your opinion

If dissatisfied, a disqualified party or candidate must be allowed to appeal in a court of law. This will check excesses of INEC in this regard. . beautiful ! Good way of resolving it too.At times I wonder what the legal department of INEC does on matters like this.I believe this case was one of the atrocities INEC carried out in 20019 election.

. It is the duty of a court of law to disqualify a candidate not that of the INEC even if there are reasons to do so..No where in our constitution or electoral act empowers INEC to disqualify any party or candidate. The INEC letters have no locus standi on this matter..The commission can only raise alarm for the notice of the party not to disqualify it. Lyon' s deputy in Bayelsa was disqualified by a court not INEC. It was a court that disqualified APP in Kogi ( INEC vrs APP I2020 ) not INEC The decision of justice Ochuckwu was upheld at the AC. The Supreme court several times has upheld that INEC has no legal right to disqualify anybody or party. This is an area I agree with the lead judgement.

The candidate didn't refuse to be substituted.
INEC intimated them in writing that this young man doesn't meet the requirements.
They did substitute but it was past the 45 days as required.
INEC laid no ambush for the party. It is the party who is trying to ambush the situation.
Justice Ojukwu has set the pace.

THIS WILL HELP
Where is it in the electoral act or constitution that INEC has the right to disqualify a candidate ?.Duty of INEC is to conduct elections while a court of law has the right to disqualify candidates. SC precedences are many on this matter.INEC should have taken their substitution and leave the rest for court to handle..As it is now,Diri has no appeal because he is not involved in the case.It is only INEC that can appeal the majority judgement while ANDP will appeal the minority judgement.
