Adeitanajoke: President Buhari, on Sunday Reacts at Socio-cultural bodies; including Afenifere, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Northern Elders Forum, Pan-Niger Delta Forum and the Middle Belt Forum backed Atiku to beat President Muhammadu Buhari.
Reacting, Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday described endorsement by the socio-cultural groups as irrelevant.
Shehu noted that the ‘gang up’ by these socio-cultural group will have no effect on Buhari being re-elected in Feb. 16, just like in 2015.
The statement read: “The Peoples Democratic Party is hiding in the bunker of ethnicity to avoid their inevitable defeat but that won’t change anything.
“The current scenario resembles efforts to stop Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 by the same characters.
“It is an effort to repeat the old experiment that failed is 2015. They failed to stop him from coming to power in 2015 and they will fail yet again on February 16th.
“If all these groups are ganging up against one person, that is President Buhari, it tells you who is the formidable candidate in the election.
“This gang up they forged, one more time will change nothing. It is for the people to decide.”

Ohanrze is supporting Atiku because of Obi .A faction of Afenifere which holds no water in the south west is supporting Atiku.Same happened in 2015 and they all failed. All I know is South west will massively vote Buhari again because of Osinbajo and power shift in 2023. Anyway Yoruba is going to regain the power in 2023.I really want IGBO PRESIDENT but no party can field an igbo man they are going to lose. The situation in south east and igbo rhetorics is making it difficult for people to trust them with power . I don't know if you are a Youruba or Igbo but I can see You are a sensible Nigerian. You have wisdom... Hausa's like Yorubas because they keep their promises. When obadanjo's regime ended he returned it to the north. When Yardua died Yorubas ensured The north used their regime completely by voting Buhar .They know 2023 the north must leave power. for the south. With due respect to the south east ,igbos don't plan for igb presidency. at all. I am an advocate of Igbo presidency in ,2023 because it is their turn as Nigerians. But is the south east ready? in my. humble opinion if the Igbo's support Buhari they contend for presidency in 2023 .Youtubas will duport them.If Buhari wins on 16 February without support of Igbo's Igbo presidency in 2023 will be a mirage. That is Igbo's should think beyond VP that the PDP is giving them. Naijahit: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured an interim forfeiture of the sum of N1,000,494,000 (One Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety Four Thousand Naira) only lodged in three deposits with Fidelity Bank Plc on 20th and 25th May, 2015.
The forfeiture order by Federal High Court sitting in Kano and presided over by Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa is consequent upon a motion ex parte filed by the Commission seeking for the interim forfeiture of the money, which was found in the Bank account of Magel Resort Limited, a company linked to the former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan. The Commission had gotten an intel that a bank account domiciled in Fidelity Bank, had a huge sum of money that was not being used by anybody.
Upon receipt of the intelligence, the EFCC swung into action by conducting preliminary investigation, which revealed that Patience and some relatives of former president, Goodluck Jonathan were directors of the Company. Others named as directors are Oba Oba Tamunotonye, Goodluck Jonathan Aruera, Goodluck Jonathan Ariwabai and Esther Fynface.
In trying to trace the origin of the money, it was discovered that N500,000 was deposited on the 20th of May, 2015 by Fynface, who is alleged to be in charge of the Company, while N1 billion (One Billion Naira Only) was transferred in two tranches on the 25th May, 2015 from PAGMAT OIL AND GAS NIGERIA LIMITED a company that was not incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
Ruling on the motion, Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa held that: “An interim forfeiture order is granted to the Federal Government in the sum of N1,000,494,000 (One Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety Four Thousand Naira Only) in the Bank account of the 1st respondent Magel Resort Limited 4011019546 which is maintained with 2nd respondent Fidelity Bank Plc”.
The court further ordered that the forfeited sum be deposited in the Treasury Single Account of the Federal Government. https://hitng.info/forum/politics/court-orders-forfeiture-of-n1-04bn-traced-to-patience-jonathan/ Like husband like wife... sarrki: Former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Kawu Baraje said the people of Kwara State especially the Ilorin indigenes would resist attempt to cede the state to the West in the forthcoming elections.
He said the adoption of campaign slogan, Otoge (which literally means enough is enough in Yoruba dialect) was a subtle attempt to surrender the state to a one-man rule in the South-West, saying the slogan cannot win an election.
Speaking with Daily Trust in Lagos, the PDP chieftain recalled that there had been such attempt to hijack Kwara from the North in 1954 and the conspiracy failed.
According to him, those behind the present move were few “disgruntled and misguided” individuals who have no people behind them.
He is confident that the PDP would coast to victory in the 2019 election, saying the people are behind the leadership of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki.
He said, “What wins election are the voters and electorate themselves. As far we are concerned, it is not strange to us and it is not strange to any community particularly Ilorin. In 1954, there was a similar attempt to cede Ilorin to the western and the southern part of Nigeria and the parlance that time was that awa Olo West (we are going to the west) and there was an opposite parlance of Awa olo West(we are not going to the West

Politics › Re: I Can Vouch For Atiku Anywhere - Obasanjo (reasons) by ejimatic: 8:37pm On Jan 30, 2019 |
PoliticsNigeria: @POLITICSNGR
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday said he could vouch for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to reposition the country.
PoliticsNGR learned that Obasanjo made the statement in Lagos while speaking at the 2019 Island Club Quarterly Business Lecture. Abubakar had earlier delivered his lecture themed: “My vision to get Nigeria Working again”.
Obasanjo, in his remark said he believed that Atiku had the experience, the capacity and passion to move the country forward.
He said Nigerians should no longer find his support for the former vice president strange going by what he said or wrote about him in the past.
He reiterated that he stood firmly by whatever he said in the past about Atiku and indeed President Buhari.
He, however, said the PDP candidate had demonstrated what was expected of a committed and sincere leader by owing up to his past mistakes and showing remorse.
Obasanjo added that Atiku had not only apologised to his political party and the nation, but also apologised to him for the past disagreements he made as his deputy.
He said that Atiku was not infallible like every other human being and that he, (Obasanjo) would be playing God by not forgiving the former Vice-President.
“I have been called names because of my position on Atiku Abubakar, the Waziri Adamawa.
“Everything I have said as far as I have knowledge of Atiku, I have not retracted and I stand firmly by them because they are to the best of my knowledge true.
“And neither has what I have said and written about Buhari been controverted, if anything, they have been confirmed and proved beyond any shadow of doubt.
“But Atiku has done things which are absolutely imperative for a leader to be followed and believed.
“First, know who you are and present yourself as you are – a human being in blood and flesh and susceptible to human mistakes and human frailties.
“Don’t cover up with sanctimonious veneer of bogus integrity, incorruptibility, uprightness, goodness and false figures and statistics, all of which are contrived to deceive, to cheat, to plunder and to destroy.
“Atiku never claimed to be a saint and I never described him as such. I will never so describe any human being alive let alone calling him a Messiah.
“On an occasion in the past when I said that someone was not a Messiah, some Nigerians out of bad “belle’’ were up in arms.
“For me, as a Christian, the only Messiah I know and have is Jesus Christ and even then, the man aspect of Him was imperfect while the divine aspect of Him was perfectly messianic.
“Secondly, a leader must be honest to himself and to the people he serves or he wants to serve.
“He must identify and acknowledge his situation, mistakes, shortcomings and inadequacy; show remorse where and when he has erred, seek forgiveness and repent; and not passing the bulk or keep blaming others and fail to accept responsibility.
“Atiku accepts responsibility for his mistakes, shows remorse and seeks forgiveness from his political party and subsequently from Nigerians.
“He asks for forgiveness from me and as a believer, a Christian as such, I forgave him in accordance with the teaching and instruction of my Saviour.
“For, if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly father will also forgive you.
“But if you do not forgive men their sins, your father will not forgive your sins (Matt 6:14-15 NIV).
“If anybody blames me for forgiving Atiku, I leave such a person with God Almighty, especially as both Christian and Islamic clerics joined Atiku to visit me to seek forgiveness.
“Anybody who does not forgive when forgiveness is sought with contrite heart cannot be a true believer and should not expect the forgiveness of God,” he said.
He said past disagreements notwithstanding, Atiku demonstrated great leadership qualities when he was in office as Vice-President.
Obasanjo said he believed with the experience and courage of Abubakar, he remained the best candidate to move the country forward.
“I must reiterate that Atiku is not a saint. Who is? But from what I know of Atiku, he will be a performer in all respect. I can say that again from my personal experience.
“He knows the problems and he handled some of them in the past.
“We now know that both Buhari and Atiku have issues and all of us as human beings have one issue or the other in different magnitudes.
“But judging both of them empirically and for the task at hand, Atiku will perform much better than Buhari.
“And he will seek for good and able people around the country and beyond and make use of them to achieve his mission and vision for the general good of Nigerians and the country,” he said.
Obasanjo claimed that the state of affairs under All Progressives Congress (APC) had been disappointing and called on the citizens to effect a change with their votes.
He also commended Island Club for providing the platform for leaders to articulate their visions for the country through the lecture.
He said the series of the Club’s lecture had helped enriched discourse on nation-building.

Chikiletta: The South East has about 7 million registered voters. In 2015, the region although witnessed a low turnout, gave PDP about a net vote of 2.5million votes. The strength of the region is in its bloc votes. In fact, the net vote of the APC in the whole of South West, was covered by the bloc vote of Anambra State for PDP.
Hence, Buhari’s electoral victory is traceable to the bloc votes from North East and North West. The problem for APC starts when a strong and loveable candidate like Alhaji Atiku Abubakar becomes the candidate of the PDP. If Northern votes are divided, then the horizon is cloudy for the APC. However, that is not the issue in this article.
The issue here is that there has been a persistent low turnout for South East rallies of the APC, from Enugu, to Anambra, to Imo and then to Abia State. This has become a source of worry for the ruling party as they try to show dominance in the region.
In a situation where a prominent, competent and capable Fulani Muslim is up, challenging Buhari in the North, with the likes of Kwankwaso, Tambuwal and Lamido for the PDP, then chances are that the 2019 election is set to be tough for the APC. With Enugu, Anambra, Imo, and Abia recording empty venues for the APC, one can only guess how the APC will win the 2019 election. The question then becomes; what is the plan for an APC victory come February 2019? . Buhari did not win in SE in 2015 but he became the winner of the election. Whether APC has a low turn out in the SE now or not has no meaning at all .It will never affect the results of 2019/election.The truth is SW will vote Buhari because they need power shift in 2023.The SE does not need power shift in 2023 but is happy with Vice presidency for 8 years under PDP. As for the north they know they have four years left for the power to shift to the south. No noise about Buhari in SE....The SW knows where it is going.I wish every region good luck in its choice in Febuhari. |

If only 35% can be obtained in the south west by PDP and 38% percent in north west and 40% in North - East, PDP would win because I am sure PDP can get 55% in north central. 80% in South East and 70% in South Siuth . The permutation is not as you think.90 % of the vote is for APC in the south west.. The zone wants power shift in 2023. 25& of the vote cast in south east is needed for APC .The north will massively vote Buhari during the election. I forsee APC winning .the election. . |
