A Nigerian passport applicant born before 1992 will present an affidavit of birth from the High Court, while a birth certificate from NPC will be presented by any person born in Nigeria after 1992.

When a lost passport is replaced, it will come with a different number and expiration period to any held by you previously.

Yes, you can get a visa with 1 year valid left on your passport. No, you will not experience hassle or be denied entry to any country as long as your passport is (still) valid and the visa on it is not a fake one.

No, you cannot apply for a renewal at this stage. In order for Nigeria Immigration Service to process your request for passport renewal, your passport must have six months validity.

Nigerian applicants who want 32-page passports with five-year validity would pay ₦35,000 (no longer ₦25,000), while those who want 64-page passports with a 10-year validity would pay ₦70,000.

1. Marriage certificate.
2. NIN slip containing your new name.
3. Newspaper publication for a change of name (21 days after publication).
4. Sworn affidavit from a High Court or Magistrate Court of change of name deposed to by you.
5. Payment receipt.
6. Acknowledgement slip.
7. Passport booklet and copy of the data page of passport.
8. Application letter.

Alausa Passport Office handles passport collection on Fridays. I hope that the first letter of your surname falls on Friday else you will not be attended to when you go there.

When your payment is successful, go to: https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/
and carefully enter your application ID and reference number to:
Book appointment, print guarantor's form and print payment receipt.

Copy of online application form.

Payment receipt.

Acknowledgement slip (if you paid through the bank).

Original and photocopy of NIN slip.

Copy of the data page and last page of expired passport.

The passport you want to renew.

Hand written application letter.

2 colour passport photographs.

Appointment slip.

Please note that the guarantor's form and state of origin certificate are not required for renewal.

A hard copy of NIN is required, rather than a digital version. Passport applicant is required to make a photocopy of his or her hard copy NIN slip (hard copy of NIN slip for sighting and photocopy of NIN slip for filling on the day of appointment).
