PoliticsRe: Obi’s Faction Of APGA Barred From Party’s National Secretariat by EkoAtlantic(op): 11:02am On Feb 20, 2013
Onlytruth: The only party that gains from APGA's factionization is PDP because PDP is closest on the ground in SE. With what is going on now, Peter Obi might simply move all his political assets into PDP and Anambra will become a PDP state once more. If that happens, its game over for APGA in SE.
As for APC, people in much of SE will blame it for dismembering APGA and shun it like plague. Perhaps this is all for good.

PoliticsRe: What Next For Fashola After 2015? by EkoAtlantic: 7:43am On Feb 20, 2013
It's obvious that fashola's distinctiveness is making the PDP goons so curious about his next political ambition. I think their focus should be on what's next for their best governor(whoever it is) and not Nigeria's best who happened to be from the opposition.
FYI, this can't be said of die hard A.C.N supporters since they've gotten no obsession or seen any comparable candidate to challenge their bests

This post is not for comparism(it's obvious who the best is) but to caution intruders to mind their business.

Same with their boss beaf https://www.nairaland.com/643980/fashola-join-pdp-he-overthrow

Their envies and obsessions are just too obvious. cheesy

APGA’s internal strife shows no signs of abating.

by Festus Owete
The newly-appointed Acting National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Maxi Okwu, may have been barred from entering the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, foreclosing early resolution of the crisis in the party.
A party official, who prefers anonymity, told PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday that the new National Working Committee, NWC, backed by the Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, has no business at the secretariat located at 41B Libreville Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja, and referring to them as ‘usurpers.’

“They have no business here and they should not come close to this place,” the official said. “They are usurpers and illegal and they know this and they should not come here.”
Mr. Okwu was adopted to replace Victor Umeh as acting chairman after a meeting of a caucus of the party in Abuja last Saturday. Sani Shinkafi, who is the National Secretary of the faction led by Mr. Umeh was asked to retain his position while a former Minister of Health, Tim Menakaya, was appointed chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, BOT.

The appointments were made in response to the judgment of an Enugu High Court, which sacked Mr. Umeh and other members of the NWC on the ground that their election breached Section 18 of the party’s constitution.
Efforts to speak with Mr. Umeh on the development failed as he could not be reached even though he was cited at the secretariat when PREMIUM TIMES visited.
Several telephone calls to his mobile telephone were not responded to, while Mr. Shinkafi’s mobile telephone was also switched off.
The party’s National Director of Publicity, Iheanacho Oguejiofor, refused to comment when PREMIUM TIMES sought to speak with him.

We’ll get another secretariat
Mr. Okwu, however, said his team would not fight over the national secretariat now manned by a gun-wielding policeman who was drafted to join the security team apparently to forestall trouble from the opposing faction.

“We don’t need it. We are opening a new secretariat,” he told PREMIUM TIMES in a telephone interview, adding that the new secretariat would be in place when he returns from a trip to Lagos next week.
At the height of the crisis last year, Mr. Obi led a group of party members to appoint Sadiq Massala and Ifedi Okwema as National Chairman and Secretary of the Party respectively.

Mr. Massala, who allegedly felt betrayed by the governor, has also declared publicly that he is leading a faction of APGA quite distinct from the one led by Mr. Okwu who himself was once a Deputy National Chairman of the Party before he left to float Citizens Popular Party, CPP.

Mr. Umeh was quoted in the media on Tuesday as saying that Mr. Obi has no power under APGA’s constitution to convene a meeting of the crisis-ridden party to pick a new acting chairman and secretary, insisting that he had already appealed the judgment.
The embattled party boss said he was elected to replace the founding national chairman of the party, Chekwas Okorie, in 2006, adding that he is currently running his second term of four years which would expire next year.

Most of the Igbos you see selling spare parts, Alaba and in the open market are Anambrians. Only a section of Imo is involved in trade and they are mostly pharmacists. So what will attract an educated man to move to Anambra? Absolutely nothing.

Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State has said his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha, and the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Victor Umeh, are ungrateful to him for sustaining and maintaining APGA.

At a press briefing in Awka on Monday, the Chief Press Secretary to Obi, Mr. Mike Udah, said it was unfortunate that Okorocha and Umeh were castigating the Anambra State Governor, accusing him of trying to sell APGA to another party.

Udah said were it not for Obi, APGA would not have been anywhere today.

He said rather than taking APGA away, it was Okorocha and Umeh that had sold APGA to a new party, the All Progressives Congress, which he said would do no good to Anambra people.

Udah said the Anambra governor had no apologies for having a working relationship with the Peoples Democratic Party-run Federal Government of President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said the relationship was for the good of Nigeria and the state in particular, adding that the partnership had yielded many dividends for the state.

Udah said Umeh ought to know that Obi was behind his meteoric rise to the national leadership of APGA, which gave him a platform in the polity.

Umeh, he said, should  show gratitude to Obi.

Udah said, “In any relationship, there are always senior partners and junior partners. It is wrong when the junior partner claims that he is a senior partner.”

Debunking Umeh’s claim of standing by Obi all through his political trials, Udah said Umeh was not anywhere near Obi before he became governor.

He said it was Obi that brought Umeh from nowhere to take over as national chairman of APGA when the former National Chairman left.

Udah said, “He was said to be a treasurer of APGA. One other person was the chairman. And somewhere along the line, things fell apart and that chairman ceased to be chairman and Umeh was elevated to be chairman.

“In what organisation have you seen a situation where the chairman is cast overboard and his successor has to be the treasurer. We have so many offices before you get to treasurer. Do you not agree with me that it took the influence of somebody to get that done?

“Somebody was picked from obscurity, he was nursed, was nurtured, fed, dressed up and he came to limelight. Instead of appreciating what I have done for you, you do not feel well to show appreciation to the person who did all these for you.”

Meanwhile, the crisis rocking APGA took a new turn on Monday as Umeh and the party’s former National Secretary, Alhaji Sani Shinkafi, faulted the appointment of Chief Maxi Okwu as its interim chairman.

Umeh and Shinkafi spoke with journalists at a press briefing in Abuja.

They said the party national caucus, which met in Abuja on Saturday and made Okwu the interim chairman, did not have the constitutional powers to make such an appointment.

The caucus meeting also appointed Shinkafi as interim secretary of the party.

Obi is said to be behind the caucus meeting.

Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria (PRWEB) February 03, 2013

An American satellite orbiting more than 400 miles above the Earth’s atmosphere has captured a spectacular photograph of the successful reclamation of land from the sea for Eko Atlantic, the new city development for Lagos, Nigeria.

The high-resolution image shows the Lagos coastline off Victoria Island in early January, 2013 when the newly reclaimed land mass from the Atlantic Ocean had reached more than four million square metres. It is protected by a sea-revetment known as The Great Wall of Lagos.
The Great Wall has been built to more than three kilometres in length and will soon reach the halfway stage. It will not only protect Eko Atlantic from ocean waves but low-lying Victoria Island as well.

The satellite view clearly illustrates that the developers and city planners of the new city have now partially restored the coastline to where it was a century ago. The work continues.

Eko Atlantic is being positioned as Africa’s leading investment opportunity for residential and commercial activities. The 21st century city will become home to 250,000 people and the workplace for another 150,000.
