FamilyHow A Porcupine Lost Its Life To Armed Robbers In My House by EkoErrands(op): 7:15pm On Mar 11, 2018
So last Thursday I was awoken by a subtle shout from one of my neighbours 2 doors away from my mini apartment.
We all live together in a twin-fully detached block of 10 apartments each.

Whenever you hear a scream or noise at night you stay indoors for a while and observe before you go check...! Those were the words of my mom. And I was being obedient when my neighbour started her subtle call for help by 2am that night.

The funny thing was that she was calling for help from people in the other compound. So that made me believe her problem was specific to the person she was calling.

She had continued to call out for almost 30min, stopping intermittently only to resume again when it seemed no one was coming to the rescue.

I stayed put listening...trying to figure out what the matter was and she wasn't giving out any clues through her call for help.

It was only after my immediate next door neighbour responded to her calls ....by shouting back at her "watin happen".... That she screamed nde oshi o! (Meaning thieves o).

I jumped up off my bed.

I never imagined this type of situation ever since I moved into this apartment 6 months ago. Infact the last time thieves entered anywhere I was sleeping was over 20 years ago. So I had gotten used to sleeping with both eyes closed.

Unknown to all, she had been robbed at gun point, all her jewelries and gadgets collected and had been locked inside her bed room.

The confusion that erupted in the whole compound was revolutionary...everybody started shouting and running out of their doors as if to catch the thieves. I wasn't the 2nd to come out.

By the time I wore my boxers and a t shirt and made it out of my mini apartment, I could see the damage that was done to her front window. Apparently, the robbers had gained entry to her apartment through the front window. As she was being released from her rented prison.

Men! This is crazi....she had been beaten and her face was swollen. As if out of a horror movie, we all immediately discovered that the next apartment had its window bursted too and there was no sign of life from inside. Could it be that the guy had also been locked inside his room too?

That was exactly the case. By the time we rescued the 2nd victim, the look on his face showed that he had been locked inside his room for quite sometime and he maintained his silence all through from 2am when the first shouting started till now about 3:30am. Men this is also crazi!!!

By now everybody from both compounds had come out including the only victim from the other compound. His story was very interesting. He said he was sleeping with his lights on so he could quickly notice the moment the robber poked a stick through to open his curtains for a quick peek. The robber instructed him to be quiet ,..a command he obeyed as he ran out of his room and into the sitting room jamming the door behind him. According to him, it took the robber only few seconds to defeat the window burglary as he immediately felt the robber dragging the door handle he was holding from the opposite side.

By morning as I walked towards my apartment for the first time since 2 am, it was only then I discovered my window nets had been torn just like the the other windows that the robbers burgled.

I was in shock. I immediately remembered my mother and her prayers. This must be grace! God I thank you. It wasn't by my power but by His grace. Though I will never tell my mother this story, I know her prayers had saved me.

I imagined so many things, I imagined waking up to strangers in my bedroom (2 or more) and the fact that I had no clothes on made my imagination even more vivid.

Then I imagined what my actions would have been considering my temper. My temper might even kill me before the robbers do. Well let me stop imagining things and take a moment to notice that just like my window net was bursted, they had also bursted that belonging to my immediate next door neighbour. I immediately called his attention to it. He was shocked and speechless for 5 minutes. He had a son and a pregnant wife....just imagine! My case was better because I was alone in my room though nak3d but I rather be than have a wife and kid with me through such misery.

My neighbour and I had thought we survived the robbery without a scratch but clearly so we didnt; our nets had been torn, and believe it or not we were in more shock than the victims who actually had contact with the robbers. My imagination was eating me up. My temper was scaring me...making me fear for my life few hours ago.

All through the whole ordeal, nobody talked about calling the police, we never did till morning. We only went round the developing neighborhood with cutlasses and sticks that night.

OK how did a porcupine come into the mix?

What could possibly be the cause of having to crank the car for a long time to start, when the engine is hot and the weather is hot?

It starts fine in the morning, and other times but once the temperature reaches 90 and the car is under hot sun, you have to crank for quite a while before the car starts.

FamilyRe: My Parent Wants Me To Move Back Home At 30. Please Advise by EkoErrands: 8:10pm On Nov 12, 2017
oprah007:
Hi everyone. Happy Sunday. I am a guy of 30 years of age who graduated with BA Degree last year. I couldn't go for youth service because of my age. So I decided to get myself an apartment and started hustling and hunting for job. I recently got a job which promise a great future even though the pay at the moment is not much. I also have a girlfriend who school in one of the federal polytechnics. My father is a Pastor, pastoring a small church in the same state I live.

Now the issue at hand is that my father wants me to leave my apartment and move back home (until probably when I am ripe for marriage I guess). He has been on this for quite sometime of which I told him I can't move back home with them at my age and moreover, its a rented apartment (My parents never build house).

Today, he dropped a bomb. He commanded me to pack all my things and move back home to come and help him with d church within 7 days else, he will see to it that I am sacked from my new work in one way or the other and also threaten to pray to God to make my girlfriend jilt me (coz she is one of d reasons why I don't want to move back home according to him).

I don't want to move back home at my age. I always pray against it as I see such act as pointing to a backward step in my life. I have managed to setup my apartment to taste and also aiming to marry my present girlfriend.

Do I yield to my father's "come back home" instruction or do I stand on my decision not to? PLEASE ADVISE.
Go and get a court injunction on his ass....make sure you ask for damages that will close down his church if he tries any nonsens*

My sister do u think its easy to register a company and start a production business in Nigeria nowadays?

You think its easy to pay tax and gt tax clearance for 3 consecutive years?

Is it easy to buy diesel to run generator for the business?

Do u think its easy to distribute your products after production in Nigeria? Have you factored in all the police roadblocks and agbero that will stop your truck every 1km?

Do you think its easy to pay salary of even 2 people talkless of a whole production crew?

Do you think its easy to get soft loan to fund your production ?

Do you think they are still doing YOUWIN program that you can just come and go and come and just go and get soft loan?

Abi u think NPower na loan them they give ni?

So pls of body allow u just leave the poor man to run the natural blood production factory that he is managing and using to cater for your upkeep.

At least that one no need diesel or tax clearance or salary...he no even need loan. Just dey pray for am make him no die inside.

Car TalkRe: My Brake Doesnt Hold. Have To Pump It Once Or Twice First by EkoErrands: 9:53am On Sep 19, 2017
xyoung:
the car spec is toyota camry 2005, (big daddy).

Service done recently
I changed my brake pads and brake pad rotor recently, did wheel alignment and balancing

Complaint
Recently i observe the brake doesnt hold immediately i step on it. It only hold when i press it to the very end.
Secondly when i am on the road, i have to pump it twice before it will hold the 2nd time. I suspected there is air inside the car and called my mechanic to bleed the brake, the problem was solved instantly but after 1 day of driving the problem returned.

Solutions needed pls
Your master cylinder needs a change or your servo is bad. Start by changing the master cylinder which is cheaper then if that doesn't stop it the next thing is your servo.

I'm hoping the brake line is not leaking at any of the wheels...check by looking at the reverse side of all your rims checking if there is brake oil stain on any of them...if none then start doing all I said earlier .

jrerico1:
Hello Nairalanders

Please don't be offended by my choice of words here because right now as type am in full tears and I hope to find my solution here.
My mun has been sick since 2006 to an unknown sickness and she is dying slowly. We have been to the best hospitals around Delta state (Ubth, Westend, Ogara. Just to mention a few) through out the time of this illness but they have been no out come or what so ever. We have visited the SCOAN on several occasions and almost all the churches around although we are roman Catholic but they have been no solution. We have also gone deep traditionally but we are really confuse right now. I have never seen something like this as am on tears now.

My mum is a devoted Christian and the best Mum Alive, but it seems God has forgotten about us. How will a good woman be on sick for so long? My dad is now feed up of the issue and I can smell it, that he has tried enough to revive her health but she wasn't married nor created like this.

My mum is a mother of 7 children and am the 1st child, I won't give up on her. I am ready to still go extra miles. We heard they are standard hospitals in jigawa so am currently doing a research on that now because this morning her breath is been ceased and she is excreting thick blood from her mouth through out the night.

Please Nairalander I will really appreciate if I can get any standard hospital here in Nigeria, or Any church that can attend to this issue or even a witch doctor because we have been to almost all the churches.

Thanks.
My brother pls stop running from piler to post, the solution to your mothers illness lies in you.

Yes you.

Shay be you are her son, why can't you stop being afraid and get angry instead.

Can't u get angry and call God down?

This kind of nonsense doesn't try any of my family member. I have prayed a brand new heart into my mother b4. Since then I haven't heard my heart is seizing or the doctor said my heart is swelling bull sh*t.

The last time few months ago she went for a heart test, they attached an electronic monitoring device all over her body and after 24hrs the result revealed nothing. As I talk to you now my mom has a new heart and healthy.

Bro understand your God and have faith when u pray and learn to annoy God when u pray. I can't teach u ...its something you learn yourself.

I wish her speedy recovery. God bless!

Just now 10pm I have received a similar sms, this time around I wasn't scared I just respectfully replied them.

Hopefully they will leave me and look for another target. Its a shame that things have gotten so bad in this country that kidnapping has become an option even with the associated risk.

My advice to all new entrepreneurs who have gone into one business or the other, please Dont ever make the mistake of using your house address as your business address when advertising your company online. That was the mistake I made now these people from the underworld won't let me have peace of mind.

Politics11 Things Nigeria Did To Foster Unity...are They Working? by EkoErrands(op): 1:41pm On Aug 05, 2017
A wise leader of the seventies...looking back at it today, its logical to think that the following calculated policies would make Nigeria one indivisible post civil war entity.

An arrangement whether progressive or retrogressive or favouring a certain group of people or tribe or favouring the unity for whatever reason or economic motive. Be it as it may, and with the benefit of hind sight have these policies achieved their intended unity driven aim.

1. The COMPULSORY NYSC
2. Federal Gov Unity schools
3. Expulsion of History in Nigerian curriculum
4. Expulsion of the Bight of Biafra from the map
5. Non celebration of Hero's lost during Nigerian civil war (Biafran war); The only war Nigeria fought and won.
6. Non implementation of true federalism in the FEDRAL Republic of Nigeria
7. Extra judicial killing of secessionists and protesters
8. Violent crackdown on peaceful protesters seeking to activate their right to self determination as enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
9. Disobedience of court orders on issues related to the unity of Nigeria
10. Indefinite holding in custody of people perceived to be a threat to national unity without trial or bail.

We are saying the same thing....open the seaports in the east and there would be no need for those JAMB question.

Wait is it the uchenna that has container to clear at onne port or Aneke that has a container he is expecting in 30min that will go and welcome Nnamdi Kanu in Owerri?

Nigerian leaders think marginalization will be effective forever...it only enshrines the inevitable in the minds of the opressed. It makes a small movement become an ideology. And you can't defeat an ideology mark it.

I am asking these questions because I honestly don't know the answers.
Those agitating for Biafra secession, or anyone with the answers, how would these be resolved:

1) My family and extended family have properties all over Nigeria
2) My family members work in the Federal govt. Do they quit there jobs?
3)I have family members in the Army and police with strong bonds to their colleagues from other tribes
4) My sister is married to a Yoruba man and his best friend for life is an Igbo man.
5) l have family members in various Universities outside Igbo land with strong undying bonds to people from other tribes
6) Non of ndi Igbo I know who reside outside Igbo land seem to want Biafra, unlike in the '60s when ndi Igbo were willing to die for it
7) Many non-Igbo artisans have resided and worked in Igbo land for so long they are practically Igbo, also policemen and soldiers.
cool How about Igbo groups who may later want to seceed from Biafra or who don't want Biafra?

All I'm asking is: Isn't Nigeria too intertwined to be separated again? Isn't the genie already out of the bottle? Isn't it best if we find a way to live together instead of secessionist agitations?

Just asking. I don't have the answers. Those who do, please enlighten us.

Lalasticlala, feel free, if you have the answers
Mr strong bonding! I need just 1 favour from you before I denounce Biafra....just help me make all the seaports in the Niger Delta operational so I Dont have to bring my goods all the way from Lagos by road to the east. If you can do this singular thing in 2017....I bet you I will become another ipobexposed.

PoliticsThe Last Statement Of Ken Saro Wiwa At The Military Tribunal In 1995 by EkoErrands(op): 10:38pm On Jul 31, 2017
THE LAST STATEMENT OF KEN SARO WIWA AT THE MILITARY TRIBUNAL IN 1995

My lord, since my arrest on the 21st of May, 1994 I have been subjected to physical and mental torture, held incommunicado and denied food for weeks and medical attention for months.

My seventy-four year old mother has been whipped and arrested, my wife beaten and threatened with detention, the three telephone lines to my office and residence cut and they remain cut to this day, my office and home have been ransacked on three different occasions and personal and family property, official files and documents taken away without documentation.

I have been calumniated in the press and on satellite television before the whole world by a Rivers State government anxious to prejudice the mind of the public and to convince that public of my guilt even before trial. Only recently, before the United Nations Committee for the Eradication of Racism and Discrimination in Geneva, an official delegation of the Federal Government which included the Special Adviser on Legal Affairs to the Head of State, Professor Yazudu, declared me responsible for the murders which are the subject of this Tribunal, even before Tribunal has found against me or anyone else.

The fact that a case of homicide is being charged before a Tribunal set up under Decree No. 2 of 1987 speaks for itself. I am aware of the many strictures laid against the decree and this Tribunal by local and international observers. All the same, I have followed the proceedings here with keen and detailed interest, not only because I am charged before this Tribunal, but also because, as a writer, I am a custodian of the conscience of society. I regret that the legal counsel I freely chose, Gani Fawhimi, the human rights hero and pride of this country, was forced to withdraw. His withdrawal has denied credibility to this trial.

With the permission of the Tribunal, I would now like to make a filmic representation which will graphically demonstrate all that I have said here and amplify the details thereof.

My lord, we all stand before history. I am a man of peace, of ideas. Appalled by the denigrating poverty of my people who live on a richly-endowed land, distressed by their political marginalization and economic strangulation, angered by the devastation of their land, their ultimate heritage, anxious to preserve their right to life and to a decent living, and determined to usher to this country as a whole a fair and just democratic system which protects everyone and every ethnic group and gives us all a valid claim to human civilization, I have devoted all my intellectual and material resources, my very life, to a cause in which I have total belief and from which I cannot be blackmailed or intimidated.

I have no doubt at all about the ultimate success of my cause, no matter the trials and tribulations which I and those who believe with me may encounter on our journey. Nor imprisonment nor death can stop our ultimate victory.

I repeat that we all stand before history. I and my colleagues are not the only ones on trial. Shell is here on trial and it is as well that it is represented by counsel said to be holding a watching brief. The company has, indeed, ducked this particular trial, but its day will surely come and the lessons learnt here may prove useful to it for there is no doubt in my mind that the ecological war the company has waged in the delta will be called to question sooner than later and the crimes of that war duly punished. The crime of the company's dirty wars against the Ogoni people will also be punished.

On trial also is the Nigerian nation, its present rulers and all those who assist them. Any nation which can do to the weak and disadvantaged what the Nigerian nation has done to the Ogoni, loses a claim to independence and to freedom from outside influence.

I am not one of those who shy away from protesting injustice and oppression, arguing that they are expected from a military regime. The military do not act alone. They are supported by a gaggle of politicians, lawyers, judges, academics and businessmen, all of them hiding under the claim that they are only doing their duty, men and women too afraid to wash their pants of their urine. We all stand on trial, my lord, for by our actions we have denigrated our country and jeopardized the future of our children.

As we subscribe to the sub-normal and accept double standards, as we lie and cheat openly, as we protect injustice and oppression, we empty our classrooms, degrade our hospitals, fill our stomachs with hunger and elect to make ourselves the slaves of those who subscribe to higher standards, pursue the truth, and honour justice, freedom and hard work.

I predict that the scene here will be played and replayed by generations yet unborn. Some have already cast themselves in the role of villains, some are tragic victims, some still have a chance to redeem themselves. The choice is for each individual.

I predict that a denouement of the riddle of the Niger delta will soon come. The agenda is being set at this trial. Whether the peaceful ways I have favoured will prevail depends on what the oppressor decides, what signals it sends out to the waiting public.

In my innocence of the false charges I face here, in my utter conviction, I call upon the Ogoni people, the peoples of the Niger delta, and the oppressed ethnic minorities of Nigeria to stand up now and fight fearlessly and peacefully for their rights. History is on their side, God is on their side. For the Holy Quran says in Sura 42, verse 41: "All those who fight, when oppressed incur no guilt, but Allah shall punish the oppressor." Come the day.

I got home last night and got information that my landlady said he has sold the house out that they need to start working on the house before August rain. So we should start preparing on how to move out.

After my findings from the person that passed the information to me I discover that she is having money issues with the caretaker because my neighbour told me that she claim not to know that they are new tenants in the house, she heard it from people that they are new tenants in the apartment which she is not aware of so i just concluded that for her not to be aware the money has not be giving to her by her caretaker.

Now, the information reaching me is that the caretaker claim he want to balance the people that pack out of the house. He said their rent did not expire before they move out.

I told my neighbour that she sent to us(me and the other guy), if she is having issues with her caretaker they should resolve it within themselves for me I no dey pack

Bluestreams:
Profile: 10yrs old Nlander, Postgrad, 32yrs old, 2 yrs old in marriage with a 1yr old son.

Pls kindly read patiently and advice me if I am wrong and also what to do if my spouse is the problem. Thanks.

I got married as the first child out of two and my family (mother) really supported me financially. At this time, I didnt have any salary job neither do I have any contracts running as I do pest control and landscaping services and other small legal hustles. I met my wife who is a civil servant and we fell inlove and I never hid my financial or employment status from her. Shortly before my wedding (I was also job hunting for a better job) I got an interview in a top oil and gas firm in the country by insider recommendation, and being the only one invited I felt I've gotten it. My fiancé started telling her sibs that I'm already a staff which I frowned at because I've not received any appointment letter. This she was doing in "faith" anyway. Subsequently, I was never called for that job again and by this time we were already married. Prior to this time, I got a slightly less than 50k job in a bank and after a few months my fiancé pressed me to resign athough that job was stressful and in another state where I neither had family nor friends.

We got married then the issues began.
I noticed my wife is the type of woman thats slow (I'll not use the word lazy). She cant keep up with my pace when we walk, she can't clean the house daily, she'll prefer I do the house chores while she watches tv and all. We were in honey moon so I didn't have a problem with that, and more over I enjoy such chores and I am a good cook. By this time her salary was dropping and we were living on it coupled with whatever income that comes from me from my business (my wife isn't stingy with her funds and neither am I).

Our problems started when she became pregnant just a months after wedding. She became super slow due to the preggy and I had to do like every every due to the initial sickness and all. Also, I noticed my wife doesn't know how to talk to people. She isnt rude or insolent but she can argue blindly and just keeps talking. She talks too much and doesn't know how to ignore things. She will say she likes speaking her mind, even though I adviced her that she will have lots of enemies by that lifestyle.

My parents live in the same town with me but hers are in the village. If things gets a bit rough I do visit the family shop and pick things on credit and pay later. This happens only when I'm low on budget.

After our honey moon, my wife refused to go back to work (her station is in another state) although she has been complaining that she doesn't like the job (her father helped secure it). Since she couldnt travel she kept calling the offixe and they were still paying her, only for some of her seniors whom she isn't in good terms with write against her and her salary stopped coming in. By this time I had to up my game and started husting harder. God another low paying job which didn't last and I continued with my biz. I lost the job because of lateness due to taking care of a pregnant wife and so on. In fact I lost 2 other jobs of same nature and wasn't bothered because they pay was very poor anyway.

When my wife put to birth, my mother (as hers is late) asked her to stay at our family house for a week,so she can look after her because I was still working at this time and my mother's business and other engagements is just around the house, my wife refused. Infact its not the refusal that touched me but the attitude she put up. Shortly after then I needed to relocate to a new aprtment and asked her to go over to the family house with the baby so I can move things which she did and the outcome of that visit was a heated quarrel with my mother. She accused her of telling my church members not to visit her after childbirth (my house is very far from the church) and even though it was a lie and I told her to shut up she kept on talking so many trash.

At home I cant talk to my wife and she keeps quiet. The will tell me to shut up to my face and one one occasion I landed her a small slap which left an eye bloodshot and this ended the shutup episode. Often times, if I talk she will raise her voice.

Four months after my wedding her father called me sounding angry and asking me why my wife is still with me, why she hadn't gone back to the state where she works, I overlooked. Some months back late last year, he repeated the same thing and even dropped the phone on me and just a week ago it happened again. My wife have refused to go back to work saying she will rather start a particular type of biz (which I'm trying to setup for her) but her family is talking behind my back all manner of absurd things.

My wife and I have been having our own bouts due to her attitude. I don't talk to neighbours again as she confided in one and laid bare exclusive family secrets and they had a quarrel and in front of my landlord, my neighbour spilled the beans and I felt so ashamed. My wife's salary has been stopped for over a year now and I have been solely the bread winner. I even got a car recently and uses it for transport to support other income.

My wife can nag about everything, she can wake me by 3am over petty things so I stopped sleeping in our bedroom and now sleeps in the guest room. If she's angry she'll not wash plates I eat with. This is someone I always wash her clothes and my with the machine since I married her. But she can hardly do same. If she cleans the house its favour and she'll keep murmuring. If we have an argument she'll start shouting, abusing my whole family and stuff.

This morning we had a quarrel and my wife told me I cant even take care of my family to provide for her, talking how she's leaving (she always tells me she'll leave and I've made it clear I'll gladly wait for that day).

I have been thinking about everything myself, since I married things have not really improved. Maybe I really made a wrong choice or rushed things (as I now believe), so I am planning on sending her away soon and them take me dad and kinsmen to her father (as is the culture in my place) for him to either caution his daughter or take her back because I might really injure her out of anger one day.

This is my last effort to save this marriage . I have only slapped her once in 2 yrs.
I feel I should seek matured advice from experienced people here as I know I might be right in my own eyes.
I really don't know what else to do.

PS: I'll answer any questions you might ask me. Forgive any typo. Thanks.
SOLUTION:

Brother, Love neutralizes all conflicts with a woman's attitude. Trust me, I have slapped b4; and it doesn't change a thing. My advise to you is respond to your wife's attitude with excessive love. Throw away your ego.if she raise her voice ....kiss her! If she tells u shut up...kiss her, if she insults u...kiss her, just like that.

The problem of fighting with family is that when you kill one person ...the dead is family. And we Dont want that do we. Ego na baskard. Just dey kiss all her bad attitude dey go! If she be human being she will only reciprocate by allowing u kiss her each time.

If e no work...just know say u married a slay queen from hell with no emotions tongue
RomanceWhatsapp Games For Long Distance Relationships by EkoErrands(op): 10:51pm On Jul 16, 2017
For those of us who are presently in a long distance relationship, are there fun Whatsapp games you play with your partner that keeps the relationship healthy and interesting ?

I checked online and I came across dozens of fun games but unfortunately most of them could lead to a breakup if practiced on a naija babe grin

However the few that were safe to try would not interest the type of girl my babe is. To get her hooked to a Whatsapp game would require a game that is exceptionally fun filled, less sex related and less thinking, less guessing, less brain demanding, in fact less everything. But I know what she would like. A game that will require choices that would need interpretations from a log book grin

Anyway back to the thread.....
List out any fun games that can be played on Whatsapp for long distance relationships ....

Thanks in advance .
