Tobedated: i'm planning on studying computer science in unilorin but it seems the public consensus is that computer science taught in nigeria university is outdated so is it worth the money and time to still study it. I love computer science but i'm mainly doing it for the money and i'm currently learning python so is it worth going to study it in the university to get the certificate or being self-taught is better Continue to learn programing properly while you do the degree. Yes outdated but you could still pick a thing or two. Go into tech for the right reasons, to solve problems, when you do relevance will follow and for sure money will go with the relevance |

Well, nobody knows tomorrow. You can give it a trial. But I will suggest u try public university if u are still below 20. That's my own advice. I wonder were you got your "conclusions" from. An accredited degree is an accredited degree. |

MoneyMusthear: Good day everyone.
This is a quick one; are there any disadvantages of getting a first degree from NOUN? Please, avoid speaking out of prejudice.
I have resolved to acquire some digital skills and intern afterwards in the said field, and this plan may not permit me to go to a conventional university. The only possible option is to run a degree in NOUN and work/intern concurrently.
What is your honest advice? Mods, kindly move to frontpage. Thank you. Kindly go ahead, their degrees are accredited |

Boogiebee: Hello Nairalanders,
So straight to the point. Please I need your advice about two things.
1. I just got my inheritance and I got cash of 8M and there's this popular belief of people squandering their inheritance,I don't want that to be my portion so which business can I invest it into. For context, I currently have a job and I'm not ready to quit so please put that into consideration.
2. My younger brother is still a student so he has asked me to save his portion of 6M in bank until he graduates but I don't think that's a good idea. I would rather he put it in some form of secure investment that will be yielding something. Kindly give us suggestions.
May the soul of my beloved Father continue to rest in peace. Amen Kindly take your time. Maybe for now put it in a fixed deposit. Don't fall for people that tell you the first thing to do is to go abroad. Without a conctrete plan you will suffer. You have a job take your time to decide on what to do |

freegaza: These are my benefits as an NGO staff in the private sector. I have housing allowance, education allowance, transport allowance and even hazard allowance. My allowances alone without salary is up to the annual earning of a new professor that earns 416k monthly according to the ASUU chairman. How many FG workers are entitled to this? The problem is a lot of people have little or no information on topics they say a lot about, thank you for this |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Paramilitary Job Of 125k Starting(fg Slot) Or an FMCG Company Of 165k+ by elbulk(m): 9:44pm On Dec 28, 2021 |
brandsoncharlie: In terms of job security it doesn't matter where you work in Nigeria you can be laid of at anytime, that's the misconception about most people in Nigeria that thinks when you get FG job there are OK, I have family members who work in immigration, nnpc, customs, fg ministry, I have seen their colleagues get laid off just like others in the private sector. People are looking at future prospects in terms of positions, rank, salary wages bonuses access to loans and age in retirement when compared to others. If you are working in the private sector and you are not an expatriate in your field of work forget you won't go far compared to someone who's working in a FG job. I have a friend who works in shell petroleum, he's an expatriate in the field of mechanical engineering obtained so many technical skills and experience from UK, shell laid him and millions of people across Nigeria, he was able to stand on his feet because of his expertise, but when compared to his colleagues who are in FG job he was found wanting. But today he has achieved a lot and works as contractor with shell when needed and other firms but when compared to his colleagues VS FG job there are far below them. I won't advise anyone to rely on FG job nowadays because Nigeria has changed in so many dimensions today with huge debt to pay. Epcl was a FG company but was sold which is now Indorama Eleme Petrochemical Limited (IEPL), located in Port Harcourt, so many staffs were laid off as at that time. First, do you mean "expert" or "expatriate"? From your post, you are from the Niger Delta nd mostly exposed to the oil sector, which by the way is evolving worldwide. There are a lot of other sectors people do well in. I agree there is no security anywhere but like you said when you horn your skills you will be in demand. |

brandsoncharlie: Have you worked in a FG job before, go and see what people who are in FG job has achieved a lot more than their counterpart, if not for this buhari regime that's slow. Making blanket statements is very funny. Yes I have and I have family there too. It's ok to want to work the government but for the right reasons. There's a difference between working for certain govt agencies like NDIC, CBN, FIRS and the likes and working for a ministry. A lot of regular civil servants that have "achieved" are into sharp practices. All I'm saying is if all you want in a job is "security" then you may never get to a certain level. Life I'd beyond been sent for courses and owning a house after 25 year's. There's so much out there why limit yourself? |

freegaza: The only sensible comment here . So many dumb people, one is even saying he'd rather go for 25k with FG than 1 million in a private sector.
People work in the private sector for 5 years and earn what you will not earn in your 35 years of service in the government People are so caught up in "security" they forget opportunity is more important. |

Or is Iyorchia Ayu not also a Christian?
PDP governors should work to install David Mark. The man is a colossus himself and being from Benue, he might likely not try to perpetuate any northern agenda by trying to make a northerner emerge as presidential candidate.
PDP should not make any mistakes. Iyorchia Ayu is Benue and in fact Tiv which is the largest minority in Nigeria. If you say because Mark is a heavy weight I agree with that |

Christianity Etc › Re: Pastor Adeboye: The Temptation Of Starting My Own Church & How God Delivered Me by elbulk(m): 2:10pm On Oct 05, 2021 |
theNaughtyPope: No be small temptation
Nigerian pastors have turned into impulsive liars. Who tempted you, and what tempted you. In the 70s when you became a pastor, pentecostal churches were not as popular as it is today. You rose to prominence because you were learned.
When you took over from Josiah Olufemi in 1981, the church was already one of the largest pentecostal churches in Nigeria, and of course one of the wealthiest.
The church was so rich you bought the campground under three years of administration.
Today, you're a proud owner of a luxury jet that cost over $50million and you're talking of temptation.
You're one of those who foresaw that religion was lucrative. And while you were making money and investing tithes and offerings in Real Estate and oil, you made your followers to believe that prayers move mountains, and that witches and family are responsible for their poverty.
If God is ever going to punish Nigerian politicians, Pastors and religious leaders will get double. Redemmed was not even close to one of the biggest churches. Maybe in the west people one the church but if you grew up in other regions like I did its not true. I ever knew redeemed till late 90s. Hen he took over he was already an academic headed somewhere and was still lecturing and restoring at the some time. |
