Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Should I Recommend Ex Girlfriend For This Job? by elbulk(m): 7:07pm On May 20, 2021 |
Forthispost: Hello Nairalanders. I need your honest feedback on this issue.
There is this ex of mine I dated for approximately 4 years. During the course of our relationship, I Was totally in my best power not to be the toxic one and never cheated on her but she eventually left with no viable reason. There were times she messed up and I forgave her even while we dated. Close to the time of her graduation from a reputable state university in Nigeria, she started messing up and eventually broke up the relationship. I was pained though but I had to forgive her and move on.
After the break up (which is about 3 years away now) we still talk (greetings on phone) once in a blue moon.
Now the issue at hand is, a male boss of mine requested that I recommend a female staff that matches a particular vacant role in our organisation . Note: This is an internal recruitment and who ever I recommend stand a 95% chance of getting employed ( the other 5% if for village people). The role is an entry role with pay centered around 80k-100k monthly. She currently earns 22k where she works now at at our last conversation. Though she use to be a cool person before her village people entered the relationship. Over three years of not being close as before gives me no clue of the type of person she might have become now. Maybe a scorned woman or a more sensible person. I'm doing far better than when she left me and it's super glaring to her.
The reason why I need advice is this: I work at the same organisation in question and I have no plan to leave soon. I'm trying to avoid a case where she will be the one to facilitate any issue for me at the said work place. Just avoiding anything that will result in regrets.
Update: I forgot to add, she's one of the person I know who suits the role. I don't have sister who matches the role.
I created this new account for just this thread hence the moniker "for this post"
Kindly advice biko. Bashing is allowed. Talk with her to know if present state of mind won't put you in trouble. Follow your guts and don't deny her the position just because she's your ex. |

bercarray: Hello nairalanders, I'm working currently as a laboratory technician, but my parents wants me to further more for medical laboratory science course in university.
Seeing the way technology is moving, I've decided to go into IT, which is the reason i want to use the money I'm supposed to use to study MLS to go into programming, instead of using 5yrs studying MLS, that's even if ASUU did not extend it to 6 or 7years, i want to dedicate this 5-6yrs of my life into programming( web development and other parts of programming maybe application software development also).
I've also decided to go to teach myself first online, and later go to IT school for certificate and meeting with other IT gurus sake so as to gain from them.
So is programming worth sacrificing this career for? Please advise.
You can do this. Also, mail me as I have a few paths that could help you. Please I am not advertising anything, I have been down this road and will like help when I can |

Auxtan: Ever since I entered the university and now in my 400L currently doing my 6 months I.T in preparation for my final year (500L) I haven't gone through my qualifications intently until this morning.
Here is a problem I discovered, I made my way to the university with a 2 sittings 2014 O'level certificates in WAEC and NECO because I made a D7 in English in WAEC which is a compulsory credit subject required for admission I had to use my NECO result where I made C5 in English to back it up for a 2 sittings result though I recall they ended up using only my NECO for the O'level certificate screening that time.
Now I am concerned if this might be a problem when I graduate and decide applying for a top job. My CGPA currently is quite impressive but right now I am afraid my O'level might not be good enough due to the D7 I made in English in WAEC.
Please I need good words of advice from the experienced ones amongst us here. Thank you Don't waste your time on this please |

I've never regretted my decision for a single day..In some countries , you must have a degree before going to Medical school..It's Medicine or nothing for me, that was my mantra. That's because Medicine in Countries like the USA is equivalent to professional doctorates. Same as Law you do a Juris Doctor Degree. SO in those countries you don't go to spend 6 years after your first degree or pre-med course |

If your client did not pay, you won't get shishi from them by month end. There was a time, my girlfriend salary was 7k after one month. Due to the fact that most of her clients didn't turn up well that month. But if you are very good in marketing, you will make some money sha. Though its not easy. 6% commission thereabout on every sales of landed properties.
And the most annoying part is that their MD will be lavishing money on artists and unnecessary donations instead of paying his staffs that worked the money for him. They will be giving them lemon colored uniform here and there. They have the terms and they accepted. Also, if someone didn't sell how did they make he money for him? KingKingKing: God be praised in the highest!
One remarkable thing I have come to realise is I'm yet to see one Muslim from Kaduna.
I have met quite a number of Kaduna indigenes and all have been Christians.
At some point I thought Kaduna was a "Christian State".
I know one day the people of Kaduna will be freed from oppression.
Kaduna is for Christ and we would always remember the state In our prayers. Just as God intervened on behalf of the people of Israel In Egypt, He would surely intervene on behalf of the Good people of Kaduna.
If you agree shout Hallelujah! Kaduna is not a Muslim state, the Muslims have just more politically active. Southern Kaduna is Christian mainly and even in places like Zaria you find Christians (note that these are the Hausa people in the state) |

Jman06: If you're going for a professional course like medicine, pharmacy or other health related programs, pls go to a public university. You'll gain more knowledge and practical exposures from there.
But if you just want to go to university to acquire certificate (like many Nigerians do), then you may wanna consider a private university for a faster sail through school. Where do you get your information from, its baffling. Afe Babalola University has one of the best medical schools in the country as we speak. Their teaching hospital is next to none. It's always good to have good information. Regardless of where you study as a doctor, you end up writing the same qualifying exams plus if you can cram you can go through med school. The private university graduates are the ones working in multinationals and owning the viable startups but at ht e moment. What you do with yourself is left to you. I know people that graduated from low rated polytechnics but are doing well too. |

My intention is to get a higher degree in engineering preferably electrical power related from a Canadian institution but from my research so far masters degree with HND is out of the question in Canada (I hope am wrong) the most viable option is to apply for fresh admission but considering my age (mid 30s) a visa officer my deny my visa application considering I already have an HND why go for another degree or if I leave out my HND that would create a vacuum of over 10 years in my record (I also hope to be wrong). Although I don't mind going for certificate courses as well.
So guys please those who have experience and ideas on how to achieve my aim should kindly share.
Thanks so much There are postgraduates in Canada. You can do a PGD. Most importantly what skill do you possess? A higher degree from Canada doesn't assure a tomorrow if you don't have direction |

udoji2021: Life is sweet generally but can be cruel to others.
I was once a happy guy with a bright future but marriage is practically killing me. It all started when I become sick and was admitted in a hospital. my aged mother was the person staying with me and was responsible for my everything. inside the ward, another patient was with this very beautiful girl that was very hard working, my condition was critical that my mother will have to bath me sometimes, this girl now started helping my mother and to a point, my mother will leave her to be taking care of me and go home.
I become close to her, but i use to think that she just pity my condition and wanted to help so I did not think of having any relationship with her. I was later discharge and went home but since we exchange our contacts earlier, we use to talk often. I asked her one day to visit me which she agreed. To my surprise, this girl brought some provision for me and slept over in my house. she continue visiting till one day, I told her that if i was strong and capable, I would have loved to date her. she confessed instantly that she was really interested in me and did not care about my condition. According to her, she was born in a poor family and can handle the pressure of been broke, that she will be the happiest person if I love her back the way she loves me. I was moved with her words and to cut the story short, we started dating.
Her parents were highly against the relationship initially but when they become tired of us, they allow us to do our thing but never involve them if something happened. fast to December last year, we got married. I was not even able to pay 1h to her parents. she just pack her things and join me in my house. we were the happiest couple on Earth till things started going north.
First, we agreed to do many things in the farm against hunger next year, we started with melon farm, then groundnut and yams. we were still on this and I must confess that she is hard working but pregnancy came and this girl started misbehaving, she will not follow me to the farm again and will not even cook for me. I dare not complain cos she will insult me seriously. sometimes, I will tell my sister to cook but this girl will not eat it because the food is bad.
One night, she sent me out of the room in the night that I must get bananas for her to eat. I suffered that night till I got it from one woman on credit cos I was not having money on me. last month, she was sick and visited one private clinic, I was to give her 10k for her treatment but did not have the money so I told her to give me 4days to look for it, there was no insult I did not receive that night. I have to sell my yam seeds and pay. infact, I'm tired of this life presently cos i use to think that she will help me but the reverse is the case now.
Please I need advice on the way forward, I want to run away from home but she is pregnant, her people refused to help us too cos they warned her before.
pls advice me For Christ's sake, she's pregnant. Have you heard of what hormones do when a woman is pregnant? Can't you cook for the house? Is it right for her to be in the farm with pregnancy? Everyone handles pregnancy differently. |

Sheffdon: Now, to be honest, I just clocked 26. I was done with my sec. education way back in 2012. Due to one problem to the other, I couldn't further. I had to involve myself in some menial jobs to sustain myself for the meantime and along the way, I learned phone and computer engineering and I do brush through some very important books occasionally.
This is where I need your wise opinion guys. Dad got into a problem when I was about to finish sec. School and since then, hes been repaying debt till now. Infact, debt has consumed all his salary. He's just borrowing from peter to pay Paul to survive.
And he's still of the opinion that i go to school. I got admission to study pharmacy at OOU in 2018, paid the acceptance fee but couldn't pay school fees and i lost it for good. So he wants me to try again but where will he even see the money when school wahala comes again? He's gonna go the borrowing way again i guess; compounding the problem we have at hand
So I've been thinking....what if i go back to factory work, then get myself a computer and learn programming "frontend development for a start"? I want to dedicate atleast 1 to 2 years to learn it. Then after that, i would proceed to school either on part time or full because i still want to further my education to get the b.sc cert. at the minimum.
Honourable men and women, CONSIDERING THE NIGERIA OF TODAY, i need your wise words at this critical junction of my life.
If I'm done with the programming, can it atleast sustain me a little bit?
Should I faithfully follow my dad's intention or just go through my own plan?
Thanks You can learn Data Science from Google on Coursera, you can get this for free (mail me and I can direct you on how to get the scholarship). With this, you can even get remote jobs and you can finish this course in a few months. It is a lucrative area. You can also consider open university while you work. it is a very viable option or lookup Nexford University they also have a scholarship program in partnership with sterling bank. It's online too. |

I was so dumbfounded to be sincere, I got so angry took my keys and drove to her place her neigbour said they haven't seen her. called her line again she said I shouldn't bother going to her house that she wont be sleeping home for a while now.

RayJr: Advice Needed: My Sister Was Almost Raped
Good evening guys, I trust Y'all had a great day.
I will try to make this as short and simple as possible.
My kid sister texted me on WhatsApp this evening saying she almost got raped by the guy crediting her online wallet for her, I drove straight to my mum's store because I was just leaving the office.
Now I met her and asked what's up.
She has an online wallet where she recharges decoders, pays electricity bills for people, sells airtime and data etc. She is a student and she's doing that business in my mum's store so she could help herself in school.
She said someone sent her 30k to pay his electricity bill and also recharge his decoder for him so she went to the guy's shop to get her account credited but he wasn't there then she called him and he directed her to his house in that same street very close to the shop. She got there and the guy tried forcing himself on her, mind you she's on her period, she refused and during the scuffle she lost one of her earrings, she begged me not to take action that the guy has apologised, seeing that I was very hurt and I wanted to confront the guy at that moment. while she was explaining to me the guy called and kept on apologizing but I'm not having any of that.
I wanted to call some of my friends to beat up the guy but after she begged me, I still want confront the guy, warn him seriously but I need advice on if that's the best thing to do or which way do you think is best to approach the situation?
No insults please. Thank you all She should look for alternatives to fund her wallet, I'm sure if she looks well enough she could even do it herself. Also, she should do all her transaction in public, that she has an innocent mind doesn't mean everyone does. Thirdly warn the guy, don't shout just sternly warn him to stay away from her, don't attack him you don't want drama. Just tell him if you hear anything again, either from your sister or anyone else, he will hear from you and tell him the authorities already know about him and his act. Lastly thanks for looking out for your sister. |

He hasn't even called me to know how I am doing.
I can't believe people are insulting me and blaming me for what happened. I created this thread to get advice and comfort but I'm getting insults. I'm a very emotional person and this isn't helping.
I'm crying all over again just reading some comments. I don't have an alcohol problem and yes I planned on having sex with him soon; when I felt ready, but definitely before marriage. How can you say this is my fault?
Today might be my last day on this earth. Human beings are indeed wicked. I wish we could have a chat. He's not worth dying over. He will always remain a looser. You are awesome and don't let anyone take that from you. If you will send me an inbox. Don't pay mind to those nay sayers here. God's got you. |
