MRbrownJAY:
I "DISLIKE" THAT SONG!!!!! i hate the wrong message it gives out. . . . . . . the original "We are the world" tune was about hunger in a whole continent while this song is in support for the devastation of one tiny island.wtf!

yes, what happened to Haiti is sad but, as i remember, there has been other disasters lately that shouldnt be forgotten:
HURRICANE KATRINA
EARTHQUAKE IN CHINA
TSUNAMI IN ASIA
The original was for Africa, because of the famine in East Africa.
That was the most pressing issue at that time . . . now I don't know if you'll be able to grasp this, but the reasonable man reckons that when 270,000 people die and a city is cleared to ground level, it should be a priority too.
Especially when the country was already one of the poorest in the world.

Check your facts hombre . . . There were songs for each and every of these natural disasters.
You wouldn't know . . . all you ever do is talk about things that happen.
Music/Radio › Re: " We Are The World"-- Michael Jackson **remake** (covers) by eldee(m): 11:19am On Feb 17, 2010
MRbrownJAY:
@FL gator
dont try to read between the lines. . . . . . . . . .
the disaster of Haiti matters, just as much as whichever other disaster that happened around the world.

close to 70k people died during the earthquake in Sichuan China. i dont remember any of these guys singing even a verse for them.
lets be real!
How illogical can you get??
Haiti is a tiny island that's already one of the poorest nations in the world, that's was struggling to stand on it's own before.
One of the worst earthquakes the world had ever seen hit them, the death toll in one day made the Jewish holocaust look like cops and robbers.

They're finding it harder to get back to their feet. . .
If your parents were buried under the rubble of your old house, would you care how self-pleasing the artists are?? Would you care if the people giving you money are driving limos?? Would you care about them 'touching a legendary song that's only second to Thriller'??

Doctors left work and went there to help, everyday people did what they can to help . . . so we should stop these artists from helping because 'they didn't do anything in other earthquakes??

The homeless five year-old on that's living in a makeshift tent doesn't care where the money comes from . . . as long as she gets food.
What's wrong with you people?? I know it's fun to find people's shortcomings . . . but do you have to take it this far??
270,000 people . . . isn't that enough to make you guys start thinking properly??

It's not about how it sounds, it's about the structure.
Structural presentation is the most important part of hiphop, scratch that, it's the most important part of music.

Even on the rap battles threads, multies and internal rhymes are appreciated.

Music is first entertainment, before it is a messenger . . . you ought to think about that.

Those track wiout PLs and wordplay aint overlooked,
it's just that when quotin lines especially text, wordplay and PL are sweeter to quote.
U dont have to agree, but it's true. Cos whether u'v heard the track or not, u just enjoy the artistic lines like that.

oNe
Yeah that's true . . . but you and I that actually listen to hiphop should at least attempt to be different to others that are attracted to glossy words.
The operative word being 'attempt' . . . it helps.

Ibime - PH Town State of Mind

We used to play 'spoke and wheel' with paint lids and hangers/
And scare w@nkers/ by throwing German bangers/ on their verandas/
16-shot knock-out. . .  the sound was outlandish/
Till police banned it/ . . . cos it sounded like armed robber bandits/

If you had any goodies, you wouldn’t hang around/
if you do, somebody prolly try to 'knack am down!'/
Get nutmegged in footie, and niggas’ll slap you down/
So when you hear "opio". . . . you better run like a tracker hound!/

'Times-table' was a must, so it hung on my wall chart/
and we always felt a rush when we heard, "WAR START!"/
Living in PH was never a ball park/
but we balled in the park/ from the morn till the dark/

What I brought was a spark/ as the midfield provider/
If the bladder burst, we trek to vulcaniser/
We enjoyed chasing gecko lizards with catapults/
When the sun's hot, we stay home and play 'counterball'/

And 'wording' was our native form of battle-rap /
We played tape cassettes. . . not itunes and apple mac/
Back in the day when/ the songs finished. . . and the tape ends/
You gotta rewind the track. . . .  by rotating with a pen!/

On 'sanitation day', the police would patrol/
God bless you if they ever catch you taking a stroll!/
Masquerades would chase us unless we had dough/
So we listen for their drum rolls/ wherever we go/

In school, we harassed faggits/ for taxes/
Junior boys were fresh food, so we preyed on the bastards/
We jumped the school fence. . Forget the classes!/
Then buy papers for the exam . . . . and get the passes/

We never paid attention to our lessons at all/
At prep time, we recline by playing 'penny up the wall'/
Breaking into lockers when provisions were done/
And leaving all the manual work to our school son!/

Where Im from, non locals get broken in half/
Niggas with dough get kidnapped/ if they stroll in my ave/
But gunshots in PH city be provoking my wrath/
cos how can the kids today catch the jokes that we had?/

Y'all didn't see this coming . . . it's what we needed to start the year.
We're used to seeing battles, here's the Warcraft State of Mind Cypher.

Enough of the bickering and bitching, if y'all care for this endz as you say, do sumn to help.
Some people talk about things that happen, well I've decided to make things happen.

I don't know about y'all but I won't let another MC outrep my hood . . . so post your own verse.

**********************WARCRAFT STATE OF MIND***********************

A lot has been said about the 'death' of the Rap Battle section, well I'm not here to give it a CPR, this is Life After Death.

A Warcraft thread that's not about war . . . more emphasis on the progression of the craft.
No judges, no points, no analysis . . . just NL hiphop heads telling a story of the biggest influences on who they've become.

Last month, I dared a couple of netcees to pledge allegiance to their hoods on NL, only a few had the balls to. grin grin
It's bigger than Warcraft, it's reminiscence. . . it's a trip in time.
NL netcees present us with a first-person perspective on the hoods they rep.
Graffiting the images of their endz in our minds. . . not bound by rules.

Anyone's allowed to post here . . . new verses and comments are welcome.
But I warn you, this is a thread half of y'all won't make it.

oNe
Yeah right . . . it's okay to walk in my shoes, but you'll need really long laces. grin grin
M9 has tracks with few punchlines but then they get looked over by Modenine fans like you.

But then the ones with extremely forced punchlines get praised . . . the crappiest M9 punchlines have all been found on this thread.

I'm hate free . . . I just prefer M.I, stop forcing me into a box.
