Of course, it's not rocket science
The whole Barca team is crawling, everyone there is playing like golf will be a better option
The only hungry players in their team are the Bojans and the dos Santoses

Compared to Man Utd that beat both Arsenal and Liverpool in one month.
Ronaldo's competing to score more than the next two players put together
Fergie admitted this is his best team yet. . .it's the 50th Anniversary of their heroes
They're hungrier than ever for this.

I told you many times already, you're getting too predictable, I was even using a stopwatch to count how long before u metion our trophyless season cheesy cheesy
Anywayz, I don't blame you, it's Wenger I blame. . .if only he listened to Billy's plea to buy more players
Billy was a title challenging captain in a team that had just lost three strong players (Henry, Pires, Ljungberg)
He drove the team pushed the team harder than Henry did

Come to think of it, he's being a captain for just one season and u're saying he failed Arsenal
Blimey!!!this dude brought out the best in Walcott, Fabreagas, Clichy and the rest of the team
Because we faild to cross the thin line, which was even Wenger's fault, u're putting the blame on him
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by eldee(m): 10:53am On Apr 22, 2008
On a lighter note, I just found out how to make Wenger start winning trophies
Simple, make Osama bin Laden our Sports Director, he'll threaten all other teams to score three own goals per match grin
Afterall, he owes us all that being a top gooner grin

I THINK we owe it to the war against terrorism to take seriously these allegations about Osama bin Laden being an Arsenal fan. The source is Adam Robinson, in a not otherwise overtly funny or satirical new biography of bin Laden, entitled Behind the Mask of Terror, and the story is as follows: that, during the early 1990s, when he was living in London, the man who was later to become the world's most wanted terrorist attended matches at Highbury, in particular during the victorious European Cup-Winners' Cup campaign of the 1993-94 season.

It is further alleged that bin Laden visited the Arsenal club shop and bought a replica shirt for one of his sons. Whether, that night in the club shop, bin Laden also bought a Nigel Winterburn duvet cover and some Arsenal shower gel is not recorded. The crucial assertion is this: that Osama is a Gooner.

Of course, the first half of the Nineties was not a golden era for Arsenal, who were then grinding out their last days under George Graham, a period of strange, almost wilful stagnation for the club during which a significant number of fans came to feel deeply frustrated. It's the sort of situation which, obviously, gets to supporters in different ways. Some don't renew their season tickets; others, such as bin Laden, disappear off to caves and begin plotting to destroy America.

And maybe we can threaten Wenger to buy players too grin

Considering the fact that it was even a League game and not a Cup Final, I think that's commitment at its best
For goodness, sake, that's the height of passion for your team
He was kicking the boards because he was thirty for the title

Did he start firing dangerous shots at young kids in the Everton fans' stand like Gary Neville?
And to think the young boy paid for a full ticket to watch the match.
The poor kid almost died of heart attack, that shot Neville took was hotter than any freekick Carlos has ever taken in his career grin

Keano said it recently that if not for Holy Ghost power in him, he would have studded the faces of Crystal Palace fans
In fact, he was still in the club when he tongue-trashed the whole team in front of the press.
Calling Rooney overpaid, Ronaldo this, Ferd that

Have you ever heard of Billy swearing at Pat Ricehuh
The jornalist that witnessed it found those swear words unprintable grin

They always sweep that under the carpet, even the FA thinks it our punishment for playing beautiful football
See the way we played on Saturday, Bikey just had to drive his studs into Van Perise's feet
If he goes out for eight monts now, they'll say we're just giving excuses. . .

Abeg better gist, don't know how true it is though

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has said he will leave the club and head abroad if they fail to win any trophies before the end of next season.
'If we continue not to win any trophies next year, then I will go somewhere else,' the Cameroon striker said at a promotional event near Barcelona on Sunday.
'I've done it all in Spain, I've reached the heights here and so if I do leave I will go to another league.'
This is Wenger's chance to sign a big player, even if this is the only player he signs
I hope he does sumn like those days when he'll just unexpectedly sign sum next superstar, like Campbell and Dennis grin

If he spends 15mil on Eto, and 10mill on Barry/Arteta, I'll put my mortgage on Arsenal not going trophyless next season grin

Haba, since when did the League Cup become big?
Is it not just 2005 when Mourinho and Rafa came and the Premier League got heated up that teams started eyeing the Milk Cup?
In my early days of watching football, I used to think big teams were not allowed to compete with their full teams in that cup grin
Some pips even thought it was the Reserve team's FA CUP grin
You know deep inside that if Wenger wanted to win that Milk Cup he'll have won it five times now.

Bout the European title, now that's sumn you can talk about, but did Graham ever reach the quarter finals of the UCL?
Wenger has made us a force to reckon with in Europe, Graham only dug fools' gold.
Even Dayokanu knows in his mind that the UEFA Cup is nothing, forget the fact that Bayern is beating all sundry there.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by eldee(m): 3:58pm On Apr 21, 2008
In the 7 years preceding Wenger's arrival,Arsenal won 2 league titles and a European trophy. In nearly 12 years of Wenger's reign,Arsenal has won 3 league titles and no trophy. Its obvious there hasn't been a significant increase in Arsenal's success on the pitch.

What attracts fans more than anything is trophies.Beautiful football which leads to a league title every 4 years is not the recipe for attracting and keeping fans. Moreover,Arsenal seems to be regressing over the past few years-you simply shouldn't go from an entire season unbeaten to not managing to break into the top 2 for 3 successive seasons.
Chei, you amaze me maynne!!!
3 league titles and no trophyhuh What happened to the FA Cups?
Are they no more part of football?
Wenger is the most sucessful foreign manager ever in the EPL, that should tell you sumn.
Give Benitez all that time, he won't still win a league.
You're talking as if he's just some next coach, he's our flipping most sucessful manager ever.

And as for the fans, u need to come over to Emirates and see the flags up every week. . .
Have you seen us go below 60,000 this season? The season ticket waiting list is still long, to some pips, it's more sought after than the UK citizenship grin
True fans wait even after managers, players and boards change. Our fans have stood the test of time and no doubt about that.
I can put my mortgage on it, Arsenal will not go trophyless next season.

Look, we can play the "total football" brand from now till thy kingdom come
Err. . . I said he brought 'Total Management' into England, I wasn't only talking about the football
I was talking about how he controls everything from team finance to player nutrition. . .
He's like having Peter Kenyon and Jose Mourinho in one man, he's a treasure.
After two trophyless seasons, we still had to use sticks to ward off Barcelona and Real Madrid from signing him.
This is the finishing phase of his building process and I can put my mortgage on it, Wenger will not go trophyless next season
I think we should release a DVD this year and name it 'The Metemorphosis' grin I've never felt it coming like this before grin

At least there's sumn we both agree on, we need to win more trophies. I said it's by addition alone, while you believ it's by offloading then addition.
Maybe I'll put it like this, if we had the Euro Eleven from this year's UCL as our first team, and five quality bench players alone, we won't still win the League

Why? Because the league is about strenght in depth, that's where the Diabys and Walcotts come in.

Ponder on that thought. . .err good morning grin

@4play
hold that thought till this afternoon, i'll hopefully be clear-headed enough to explain how Wenger is Arsenal's best signing by then.

@eldee,

So, what do you suggest we do with the serial under performers? feed their fragile egos?

When United, Chelsea and even Liverpool buy players, most of the time they buy proven players. It is all well and good building a team, but in the current climate of football, every one wants overnight success, even Arsenal fans. We want people that will make an impact in one season not grooming them for another 3 seasons.

We sold Henry but never really replaced him with someone of equal or better talent. Look at where we are now. If we have the money, then we should be spending it. 2nd or 3rd position, never mind 4th is NOT good enough for a team in Arsenal's league. I hate to say it, I love Wenger with all my heart. But it looks like he may have taken us as far as he can in competitive football. We need different tactics and approach to games, although it seems only him and Fergie have jobs for life
You don't understand this do you? The Board said Wenger is their best ever signing, he's unsackable.
He's taken Arsenal to a whole new level financially and football-wise. Didn't you see how he brought the mordern manaement styles to Arsenal?
He's taken the Premier League, not only Arsenal to a whole new level.
He brought the concept of the 'Total Manager' where the manager is in charge of everything from the profit making to players' nutrition.
Bout the tactics, Wenger showed how flexible he can be in UCL 2005, what other tactics do you want?

Fine, he didn't buy players, bu does that mean he should throw away three years of hardwork?
To me,  few additions here and there would do, no off-loading, that's why there's sumn called 'the Reserve team'.
Besides, this team at their best was unbeatable, so whatchu saying? The main problem was the stres towards the end and the solution is what i said.
Selling more players will be just another stupid decision, Barca have Messi, Eto, Ronaldinho and Henry, but they're still holding on to the Bojans, dos Santoses and the Iagos.
Let's learn sumn from them. That also explains why Fletcher and Brown have been in ManUtd all these years, they're back-up players.

We can't just flush out like that, it will be making the same mistakes over and over again.
In my own opinion, it'll be better if no one leaves, save Gilberto and Lehman.
That's what makes Big-Four teams, the aquire players but find it hard to sell, Arsenal needs to drop the selling-club status.
In that team, all we need is a Gareth Barry/Aterta, a Vidic/Yobo and a Joe Cole, without selling anyone, we'll do sumn stronger.

It took Wenger three years to build this team, he only needs to keep adding, even though it might be dangerous for the wage budget.
It took four seasons for Alex's class of 93 to reach the Champ League Final, half of this team have been there already.

Why's you taking paracetamol for our headache? Coming here to post already overflogged crap is totally unecessary, in case u missed the last ten pages.

Bout Garry, he knows, deep in his mind that Arsenal is the best club for his career now.
United has about four central midfielders that will make him look ordinary (Hagreaves, Anderson, Scholes, Carrick)
Same with Liverpool, there's no way he'll choose Liverpool if Arsenal come calling, no one wants to be a backup player in any team.

P.S Man Utd is so'not interested' in Gareth Barry.

Bout the match, am I the only person that noticed how talented Walcott is?
He seems to have grown in confidence too.

Just heard it this morning that Gareth Barry is looking to move to a winning club.
To me, this is an offer from heaven, we can kill two birds with one stone.
We get an english speaking player that blends in easily with the team, and we get an attacking/defensive midfielder
Flamini/Fab4 can't play all season, so what more can we ask for?
Let's see what Arsene thinks about this.

@eldee and HNIC,
How does it sound mentioning that Kaka won a world cup but we all know he was just a squad member. If Henry won the world cup , his contribution to the team I can mention 4 players who were more vital to the team than Henry just like mentioning Diomede, Guivarch and Karembeu as winners.

Jay Jay? Which club are you talking about what did Jay jay achieve both at club abd international level. You can even mention Etoo he won a UCL and was very important to the Barca team that won. He was also top 3 in the world. Etoo for me would be a third tier player according to my ratings but Jay Jay?? last tier
Oh, now I get you clearly, because Henry did not win the UCL that year init? and because Eto played in the winning team.
Now you've proven how bias you can be. . .Please tell me how this does not prove that u're a wikipedia analyst.
Because I mean, anyone who watched that tournament saw it learly tha Henry was miles ahead of Eto.
Let me even make it easier, Deco, Oleguer, Valdez are all better than Henry because they've won the Champ League.

Player A, a talisman, top scorer of his team 5 goals, highest number of assists, soul of the team. Main part of the team that reached the final. All-time top five scorer.
Player B, Definitely not the most important in the team, playing in a team of top stars, scored six goals, won in final.

So, Player B is better why? he won the League. . . Thak God nairaland is a public forum, so, this one won't be covered up.
Seriously you don't know how dissapointed I am in that someone that claims to be a football follower will call Eto in the same breath wiv Henry.
Especially with that kind of reason.
I don't want to accept that u're a wiki fan, I'll just take it that u're just being bias against the EPL.
