I wonder if you travel with a Nigerian passport. That would tell to an extent if you were discriminated against at the hotels because you are black or because you are Nigerian, or maybe both.

He is actually not a Nigerian, he is Asian, Chinese I think but living and working in Nigeria.

ITA at last but with a mixed feeling for me and my wife.

Our profile as a couple was 468 since October last year so she wrote ielts last month and added 2 points to the score making it 470. My profile was expiring on the 21st of this month so this was the last draw before expiration.

Initially we had agreed to see what this score was then if it didn’t get to 470 today then I will go alone unaccompanied(crs of 475). But because of the anxiety and tension and uncertainties we had to change our mind yesterday and agreed that I go unaccompanied. Now draw comes out and it’s 470.

I was happy to see ITA and was angry that we didn’t wait.

My source of consolation now is accepting it as the will of God

Please I need a link to the WhatsApp group for married people going without their spouse

You do not need to decline. Add your wife post ita, your score will be recalculated and since it will be 470, you are going to be just fine.

Been here in Canada for almost a decade and never seen such. 90% of Nigerian immigrants arrived in Canada via the Federal skilled worker program now called express entry. The remaining 10percent would be via pnp, study permit, and spousal visa.

Well, I won't say it is outrightly impossible to go from a temporary (visit visa) to permanent residence. There is at least one possible scenario with aipp. A lot of employers in the Atlantic provinces have kinda lost faith in the process of offering employment to folks outside Canada, do all required to get them there only for this people to up and leave after a few months. So some of them are actually requiring you to actually be on ground, do real time interviews physically and be sure of your willingness to stay with them before they commence processing. Some cases I know about like that are Indians by the way. Although I personally think getting a job offer is really stressful and much prefer fsw, it still works for some of this Indian folks sha

Is it possible for an arts graduate here to do his masters over there in an IT related course?

Many thanks for your response.

Yes, I realise I have to create a new profile. I am at it and I understand that our points will drop significantly for apparent reasons as well as for my age. We entered with 454 and got ITA at 452, the lowest since may 2019 - so I am not sure how possible it is to get an ITA anytime soon with something much lower. We have decided to enter the pool again with what we have in the meantime. Then we will go about getting my degrees reevaluated. We will also evaluate my spouse's degrees. He has almost completed his MBA (I am not sure he will get his certificate till almost year end though). We will most likely rewrite IELTS too (maybe this time I can get a 9 *amen*.) I also heard IQAS isn't receiving applications, but the person who told me said March - I will check. I could share the WES evaluation, but the important part is as quoted below:

"Canadian Equivalency Summary - Bachelor's degree (four years) and postgraduate diploma (one year)"

Looking back I think it was pretty silly of me to have ignored the diploma bit, thinking it won't matter because of the postgraduate bit and the fact that it is law after all.

I don't think you need to reevaluate your degree, what you have presently can be used for 2 or more certificates except you want to wait for iqas, which might not be complete before the year ends

Hello all,

Please, when filling the express entry form to enter the pool;
1. do we need to fill secondary applicant's NOC and detailed experience like the primary applicant?
2. does the secondary applicant (eg spouse) need a reference letter from previous employer?
3. If the secondary applicant have no experience besides NYSC (Secondary school teaching) 8 years ago, can that be used as experience?

Thank you in anticipation of your kind responses.
If your spouse's work experience is not in Canada, then there is absolutely no need to include it in the forms pre ita, after u get ita, you can fill it in.

You typically won't deal with agencies like those in the medical profession. You have to apply for jobs yourself (even if through agencies, although some can contact you if they have suitable vacancies).
To make your task easier, go to jobserve.co.uk and search for jobs that offer sponsorship. See the screenshot below.

Thanks dustydee, working on it already.

Now you are calling for scammers to take you to the bank, RalphJean has done half of the job for you, all you or your brother needs to do now to research and apply. Deal with the company directly and if you are successful then they will help you with settling down or you ask questions here when you get to that stage.

Thanks justwise, I appreciate.

while your point is noted, it is also interesting to know that people have different levels and understanding and learning abilities so despite these materials, they still need some form of assistance or encouragement or tutorials. You were privileged to join a whatsapp group yeah, I wasnt. i asked a number of times without response. So you are smart, we are smart but some of us need more support.
A CLB 10 for a first time writer is amazing, but how many people have written more than 2 times and are still struggling? Not everybody wants to be spoon fed, some just need help genuinely. So research, study and ask for help where you need to.

Peace bro, all the best in our journey.

Don’t be too quick to label people with names. While I understand that you were only trying to tell her to be vigilant, you indirectly called him a scammer in a subtle manner which is totally unacceptable as you don’t know him and can’t label him as such until proven otherwise. You could have passed your message in a better way than you did initially. Nobody would love being called a scammer especially when their intentions are pure. Peace

@prettiepearlz, first, I don't do banters so I will not respond beyond this. I did not call anyone a scammer, I advised the op to be very vigilant, that is all, you do not believe all you read in faceless forum like here hook, line and sinker. Moreso, if you have bean following this thread for a while, you will realise there are still people who come in here, post a seemingly innocent story, then end it with 'pm for advice' which does not help. We have been actively promoting page 1 to encourage people to do their personal research but it seems people just want to spoonfed info out here, smh. The materials on ielts on page one are very loaded and helpful but people hardly look into them. I used them to prepare for mine, and also joined a whatsapp tutorial class here and it helped. At least a clb 10 for a first time writer with no idea at all previously of ielts structure isnt too bad.

The idea I am putting across is simple, let us prompt people to research and look for info on things that have been made available, not fall into something they could later regret and not spamming the thread as that post would lead to with every newbies typing, 'send bla bla bla to my email', 'I have pmed you etc'. All the gurus of then that were so helpful to us then, peeps like ifeoma, Topsmamen, joo2018, 40man, new mum don't even bother to show up again to help. Why? Because the thread is now overrun with people looking unwilling to just go through page 1and their enablers; unfortunately, so many genuine questions are being ignored, because the people that could have helped are not seeing them in the myriad of unhelpful post here and there. I truly hope the thread does not degenerate further and goes back to the way it used to be. Peace!

Thanks a million @RalphJean for the pointers, really helpful too. Applying to the jobs directly is another alternative to consider, I am actually looking into this for my brother who is the programmer actually if we can get an agency that would help with the job placement, also help secure accommodation etc to help him ease into a foreign country.

The locals in those areas seeking asylum flee to neighboring countries, not Canada. Let's not derail the thread any further because I am still confused with the submission.

As for the major languages like German, French, Spanish it is clearly understandable, but Nigerian languages? C'mon Jimmy.
it is possible that they might want to increase the number of visa offices maybe have in like Nigeria and other places, so anyone who can speak the local language will be an advantage.
