debosky:A lot of folks gave up on Fabianski, and with a few games under his belt, we all see how confident and good he is now. My point? Carlos Vela is a good striker who is still finding his feet. If Wenger have faith in him - Just like he did in Fabianski - then there must be something about him that we may not have seen. From what I can tell (my opinion) he is technically gifted, got pace and with a bit of practice he will get there. |
Mobinga:Thanks. I was hoping to get it going on here. Dolemite:I can hold my own and not keen on bragging especially as I don't even know if this plan for Nairaland league will take off. ![]() [s]Sagamite, WhiteLexi et al are just a few I have walked over with my Pro evo skills.[/s] If you are keen, then I can add you to the list, just let me know what team you want to use (I think you may have to stick to this team till the end of the "season" ) |
I am after group of a few players who will be willing to play some sort of Nairaland Mini league online for the pro evo. While this is very easy to do in theory, I am not sure it may be easy to pull off. We just need people with decent internet connection - Mininum of 8megs, access to a computer and a ps3 I guess? We can then arrange when we want to play each other (Say every Saturday or Sunday night for example) then we have a League table running here on nairaland for all to see. Who's interested? If you are, just post your PSN ID and the team you want to use. (I think if a member picks Barcelona already, then no any other member will be allowed to pick so as to keep it real and exciting) I am keen on picking Arsenal, but I will see if people are interested in the whole idea first. |
My last comments was tagged by the spambot and hence not showing. I will post a quick paraphrase, hopefully, it will show this time. So here goes! The PS3 Software usage terms do not allow one to modify any portion of the Game software that you may own. Also it mentioned that one Ps3 should not be modified/circumvent any encryption in order to play game. Clearly, what the OP did breaks all these Software usage term. (I am aware he now admits that this is a grey area, but I needed to make a point to clear up a few misunderstandings) Also, the Digital millennium copyright act works in the favour of Sony, and again the action of the OP breaks this sort of act. I also noted that a few individuals are trying to play the "Moral game" here and asking me unrelated question, while ignoring the issue at hand. I think I should make clear that my concern is with how this sort of OP behaviour will spread and it will only be a matter of time, before it ruins the online play experience for the rest of us. Please remember that cheating and pirating in online game - using hacked console - was a common feature in the Xbox online community and one of the many reasons that Microsoft permabanned close to 1 million xbox users. (Again Microsoft pointed out that modifying a console is against the user policy etc) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33866696/ns/technology_and_science-games/ Again, I have stated that I do not expect my point to be popular with folks around here, after all the issue of Intellectual Property means poo to those who post here etc. |
Omo I missed the match as I dey work, but gosh e be like say we were on point from the "match of the day (league cup)" highlights I watched on BBC last night. It is good to see that the visions of Arsene may start to bear fruit now, and this year may be that year that we actually win something. I mean, with the big names out of the competition, we have the chance to take this one all the way. If we meet Man U for next round and AF fields his own "weak team" against our "weak team" I am confident that we may win. It was good to see Sczerny (how the heck do you spell his name?) commanding his back four, beaming with confidence and plenty of presence. That makes a change for once at Arsenal. It may be worth pointing out that some of our attacking options - Bendtner, Walcot, Nasir, Wilshere are starting to burn with fire now. I have a feeling Wenger will be having a selection headache of whom to pick. That is an headache I pray it do not go away for a long time. ![]() It is only two games, but shey na me or Bendtner don improve with him finishing? Oh, a quick observation though, we still need to be more clinical and not waste chances. |
vedaxcool:Note Vedaxcool, have little or no point, and looking for lame things to say. In the mean time, read my post again it takes into consideration the very point you are saying I didn't address. ![]() The cost of the leak will force new way to approach war - Certain things will be done better. For example, US will no longer sit an ignore the torture claims etc. Better implementation will be made to ensure loss of innocent life are kept to a minimum etc. If these aren't taking into consideration the points you are trying to pass off, then I don't know what it is. Finally, the fact that Iran can cross into Iraq to pick up innocent people and then accuse them of spying also goes against your claim. ![]() |
Still playing the 10 version. Not sure I love this game that much. It requires dedication, but kudos to those who play it alot. Very good game. |
texazz:You said a lot of things that are not exactly true, so I will keep it simple. By modifying the Ps3, you are going against Sony's policies of the software in the ps3 and the actual game. http://uk.playstation.com/legal/detail/item223670/UK-PlayStation%C2%AE3-Software-Usage-Terms/ You already stated your intentions, to back away from it now puts you in a less credible position. What is debatable is that i most likely could swap or lend out the original disk while continuing to play the backup. But that too exists in a grey region all by itself. Do you continue to play ripped Mp3s from CDs you buy if you loan your neighbour the CD, for example?Again, the link I posted will suggest you may have a case to answer. Read them again. Your comments on jailbreaking are naive. If i decide to do some SNES gaming on my PS3, what issue of yours is it? I'll bet your Android phone is rooted; is that evil too?Again, read the link. http://uk.playstation.com/legal/detail/item223670/UK-PlayStation%C2%AE3-Software-Usage-Terms/ Modifying your ps3 to play room flies in the face of the software usage term. Sorry. Sorry, but some of us would rather use our SNES emus with an actual Wireless pad.You claim you have the right to back up games. I think you will find that you are modifying the ps3 - Something sony do not allow. Also you will be going against the software usage. It get tiring repeating myself. Please provide with what makes you think you have the right to back up from Blu Ray disc onto your ps3? Perhaps I missed the memo. Is there room for Abuse? YES! Just like Sony happily removed the OtherOS feature that was used as a selling points for many PS3s.I am not sure I get your point here. Yes, there is a room for abuse. You know, just how your original statement had intent of abuse. Yes I agree that the OtherOs was used a side marketing point, but the truth be told, ps3 was markets as a Games machine with Multimedia Capabilities, not exactly a linux box you see. The part in bold is pure balderdash. Microsoft came out with the 360 a year ahead of the PS3 mainly to get a decent head start on their main competitor, after learning their lessons from the PS2 era.If you comprehend my point, it is clear to see that I stated that "It was one of the reasons". I never said IT WAS THE MAIN REASON. Modchip or flashing dependent Console Piracy is just a drop in the ocean. To date, the Dreamcast, PSP and Nintendo DS are perhaps the only systems to have suffered seriously from Piracy as only a simple boot disk or modified firmware is needed to launch copied games. Here we go, so you acknowledge that a few consoles suffered in the past due to piracy, I guess Sony should fold their arms and let the ps3 suffer to via unauthorised user access and dumps? I think you just contradicted your own points, or at least do a full circle. What most of these people won't tell you is that most pirates would never have bought the game in the first place.I am lost here. So piracy boost gaming numbers? I think you will find that once a machine is badly hacked and unauthorised user access granted, there is nothing stopping the user from buying a game, copy it to HD and head back to the shop to ask for a return. You know, just like you hinted in the beginning. And there, is just one of the problems. I'm not holding brief for piracy here, just reminding you of the facts before you start spreading FUD. Insisting that piracy 'ruined the PS1, 2 and Xbox for everyone' is just silly.Again, please take time to read my post. I pointed out that Other Os was removed because people who share your idea of hacking a games console ruined it for the rest of us. That is, if no one hacked the PS3 in the first place or allow unauthorised user access, then Sony won't pull the plug on other Os. While, I do not use other Os much, I will like to know it is there IF I need it, but thanks to people like yourself, it is now taken off by Sony. Mobinga:Thanks for your input. Very nice of you. Have you considered making an actual contribution? ![]() @Tex I really do not expect people to share my view, not on this part of the internet anyway. ![]() |
Jarus:Again you have tried to defend your character via citing some past event. At this point, it means very little to the point at hand. So let me get this straight, you had a run-in or locked horns with Xavier, then in your awesome logic, you remembered his personal email he used at some point and then proceeded to email him and in your own words "warned him" but you really do not see this as a threat. Are you kidding me? ![]() Gosh, how many people you argue with then go around emailing them over a disagreement on a forum? ![]() Furthermore, the excerpts from the email exchange you posted had phrases like "back off" in it (I have a feeling there may be more) but you STILL do not see this as a form of mild threat at the very least? I have stated from the onset, that I do expect you to fully stand on your point of view and not offer an apology. So it is not a big deal or surprise that you are now doing exactly that. Pfft, no be you? |
Jarus, when does niceness stop and threats begin? You are no Xavier, and as such if he feels your email comes across as a threat, then the least you can do is apologise. No? ![]() |
ElRazur is my psn ID. Add me. ![]() |
netotse:If the subject matter of the email was threatening. Yes I will. Clearly, Xavier felt it was threatening hence why he raised the issue, but trust Jarus to defend his position. Jarus:I remember asking you if you will apologise or not. Clearly, you see the need to divert the issue here. You keep comparing me to Gani. If memory serves me correctly, this is the second time. Unlike you, I do not have a big enough ego to make such comparison or accept such comparison. Neither do I suffer from self-delusion to wax lyrical about that. I respect what the man did in his life time and if you can acheive a fraction of his achievement, then you will have more sense in you than the garbage you post on this forum. On the flip side, I am willing to accept I am opinionated. If I don't have shitttt to say about anything, I won't be here registered and making contributions. So in other words, it is a bit ironic that you call me such, when same can be said about you. ![]() A few questions:I think you need to check that 95% of your so called approval rating comes from your nominees and winners who are coincidently on your yahoo chat list. Remember? Again for the Nth time, this is not about me. Check my previous reply in response to your claims. (Go back and read my replies, the answers are in there) Since you lack the ability to understand Sarcasm, my thread is a mockery of your award thread to show you that anyone can be biased and give anything to any dick and harry. But I guess you lack the logic to understand this. And FYI, Xavier you're defending here, has been my very good friend on NL for over two years now and we both respect each other, inspite of our frequent disagreements. You have now confirmed that you are thick. So because he is your so called "friend" means it is okay to send threatening emails? Are you this daft? |
Let him without sin cast the first stone. I have stated that there some form of hacking that I will pursue. I flashed my HTC Desire so as to get updates directly from Google. Play around with bios setting and used Cpu Z to improve performance on my PC etc. I will however not pirate games or hack my console in order to play pirated games. |
Jarus:It is clear to see that he complained about your tone of email which he described as threatening. Are you man enough to apologise for the distress you caused him? Are you?. . . May be not. I can see you're still writhing in pain for your non-inclusion in my list of 50 MEN THAT SHOOK NL 2005-2010. Don't worry, we will give you a look next timeNow, you really are coming across as thick. This is not about me receiving nomination, but the fact that these award-thread bears no relation whatsoever to politics section. Like I mentioned before, your criteria are flawed, biased and lacks nothing new and more a case of doing something for yourself. You know, the need to feel important and be perceived as you actually know what you are talking about or be influential and that is me putting it politely. It is a bit deluded to compare your amateur approach to a reputable organisation like TIME. I suppose that point highlighted what I meant by the feeling of "self importance". I think you will find it is a psychological condition called "Delusion of Grandeur". No offence, but Tumfulu and co. can even do a better job, and that is saying something. |
texazzpete:I bought my ps3 20gig from Japan and got it a week after launch. I paid over the odd for it too, so what is your point? If you keep your things well then perhaps it may not be missing? Just a thought. If i have a way to backup my discs so i don't lose them when i have a chance to play them, damn sure i'll do that. I buy all my games. And last i checked, there are no pirated copies of PS3 games floating around Nigeria. PS 3 games weigh in at tens of Gigabytes. Why would downloading games be an option for me when i can easily buy any game i want?Same lame excuse I have read across forum. The physical disc is there for you to keep for a reason. Lets cut the crap, Hacking a console and pirating game was frowned upon for very good reasons and your original comment suggest why such approach is pursed intensely by game makers and console manufacturer. As per not alot of pirate game are floating around, that should be the way it should be. Piracy and hacking was one of the reason MS came out with the Xbox replacement quickly. You see, these things eventually hits those who make them and if they do not sell enough copies, then they end up not making good games etc. Jailbreaking your PS3 is much more than Pirated gaming. You need to try and broaden your horizon here. Way before sony banned otherOS, i was rocking Ubuntu on my PS3 in 2008, running a beta version of SNES9X. There are loads of exciting homebrew apps on the horizon, and i aim to get in on that. Why abuse me just because you have a limited imagination?OtherOs was banned simply because of people with your mentality ruined it for the rest of us. If I want to play snes or any emulator, there are other way round it than using your ps3. No? Let's not forget, Sony did state in their policy that they reserve the right to make amendments to the software the ps3 runs. Once it was compromised by that useless guy (and the community who worked with him) Sony did the right thing and pulled the plug on the Linux. Remember, it was all good, until the hacking and pirating community got involve. What i choose to do with the game after i copy it is my business, thank you. I could give it out, or i could sell it. There's a used game market out there, isn't there? As Bawss said, i'm not starving to start thinking of selling games for a living.Yes it is your business, but you are going out of your way to bypass the anti-copy feature and like you have stated, to make a quick buck in the process. Stop being a lamer. My response to your insults is rather restrained (unusual for me) because i know you to be one of the more intelligent Nairalanders. But stop being so darned self-righteous here. Also you may want to check out the recent ruling on DMCA in the US. Jailbreaking is legal.Lamer? Nope. Self righteous? Nope. Just saying I oppose pirating console as it will eventually ruin it for every one. Look back on ps1, ps2 and xbox if you want. |
ritchboy: ![]() |
Bawss1:What are you talking about? How can it be tongue-in-cheek when that's the obvious logic when you hacked a console. Please don't defend the indefensible. Again I am making myself clear, I do not see the need to pirate or hack a console. I enjoy playing online and prefer to do so in a clean way. So your suggestion for an extra console is pointless to be honest. PS Hades is kicking my backside. I will have to find a way to beat him. |
Bawss1:So I should get two ps3 simply because I want to pirate a game? May be you are not reading me right, I am not keen on hacking or pirating games. As per Sony's ps3, it is a cat and mouse game, and as it stand, sony have the upper hand. To play the latest game, you will need to update simple. But if you don't mind sticking to 3 years old game then good for you. While I love hacking in some ways, for example changing my bios setting to get more juice out of my cpu. I think it is wrong to pirate games and spoil the fun for others. Just listen to the OP saying he will buy a game, copy it then sell it off. I am guessing if he in a country where refund is granted, then he will simply walk back into the store and ask for a refund. You see, that is nothing but theft. Hacking already lead to cheating in online games, just ask microsoft who banned over 100k of online user with suspected pirated and hacked consoles. But I guess around here, it is almost like the normal thing to do. By the way, the Ps3 was never hacked per se, however the modification the OP is talking about allows one to turn the ps3 into a "developers mode". (Sony gives out developing consoles to developers obviously to test out their games during development and part of the feature of a developer's console unit is that it allows for game to be copied on to the HD.) |
Do you own a Ps3 and connected to the psn? Do you have a copy of Pro evo 2011? Do you live in the UK? If you answer yes to ALL of the question. Please add me to your PSN, my forum name is my psn ID. We can play each other and perhaps form a clan? ![]() |
Namzy:No mind the fool. I find it funny that folks like the OP wants the good things in life, but unwilling to work for it. If you can afford to buy a ps3 and a wide screen tv, how much is a game? Smh. Hack your ps3 and wave goodbye to playing online, hack your ps3 and wave goodbye to playing all the latest games. To me, these two points are enough reasons not to muddle by ps3. It is disgusting to see that this forum have no ethics whatsoever on pirating. But I guess, the owner hardly understand the concept. Anyway, I am currently playing God of War III and my god, it rocks. |
Negro_Ntns:You have an interesting point there to be honest. On the other hand, I think the Pakistani Intelligence are keeping him alive, then using him to get billions of money off the US. Think of the money war in that region may bring to such people and how it may help put Pakistan in a "special" position with the US while getting one over India. I don't buy conspiracy theory, but that is probably as close I will get to posting one myself. |
Louis, the mods do not have the rights (powers) to ban a member. Unless the mod is a Super mod. That's my understanding. However, mods may be able to get across faster to a Super Mod, than you can and hence influence or orchestrate your ban. Pfftt, no be my fellow naijans? ![]() |
This leak will help fast track new approach to war and put a lot of things into perspective. I have a feeling, more and more research will be pushed into the use of Autonomous or semi-autonomous war machines so as to remove the human element in such a way that some of those things mentioned in that leak are kept to a minimum. While I do not agree with some of the leaks, I noted that no one is saying anything about the fact that the leaked showed that Iran military crossed over into Iraq to arrest those American hikers and then falsely claim they were in the Iranian borders as spies. Damn, it is all one big lies - The US, Iran et al are just brothers from the same father to be honest. |
Jarus, are you thick in the head or something? Someone do not appreciate you sending him emails, especially threatening ones. The least you can do is APOLOGISE, but as usual, you have the dumb seun-naija-mentality and try to give some bullshit "Oh I am the mod and what ever I do is right" comments. PS Yes, delete my post! It is what you do when you are losing a debate. Remember? While we are at it, please avoid spamming the forum with you useless and rubbish "awards type-thread". I see no reason for your sticky thread as it bear no relation whatsoever to politics. You know it is a kiddie mentality to always try and seek out "who is the best" especially in a place where "what is best" is so variable that you just cannot comprehend that. Perhaps you were never rewarded as a child and hence it is manifesting itself. Or may be you are just a kid at heart. ![]() |
I will rather have then take in one brilliant student, than pander to political correctness and admit bunch of moppets just because of the colour of their skin. |
manmustwac:You are a freaking dicccck head. I guess your mama got whacked by your papa? This is not a matter of "so what" and this aint about another religion. Deal with the issue at hand at stop passing the blame. This is nothing but domestic violence and it is depressing it to see it supported by religion. If you wanna talk about other religion doing something similar, make another thread and I will gladly join you. In the mean time, efffing focus on the matter at hand. Ode oshi. ![]() |
cap28:Are you kidding me? Seriously, are you? BBC not objective? What are you smoking? BBC airs their weekly reviews of customers complaint live on tv and deal with it on BBC news channel. Take that as one. BBC have dedicated Radio channels for "Ethnics minority". How the heck your favourite rapper features on the Radio every Friday with Tim-Westwood? BBC is paid for by the public and hence they owe an obligation to be accountable, objective and be fair. Oh don't forget the dogma of journalism - Present a balanced view which they practice like a ritual. I hate paying licence fee for the BBC but I respect their programming. If you noticed, I let most of your post slide because I think it is a bit of a waste of time engaging with someone who already have a mind set of "they are white supremacist trying to rules us or (insert here what ever wild conspiracy theory that rocks your mind) I suppose if you claim BBC are not objective, then Sky and rupert murdoch empire must rock your world? Anyway, another time jare. |
LadyT:Is that shiitt not gay or homo-loving the very least? ![]() |
vanitty:In defence of Louis, he called it "refreshment". Then after dem go wan come bash am for here. In the laws of Nigeria, I am sure refreshment is allowed at work. ![]() |
What is that got to do with me? |
~Bluetooth:I am sure you asked this before and I replied with some explanation. Anyway, assuming the BBC or CNN goes to all those place you mentioned, what is there to stop you from voicing dissatisfaction that they never visited the alimajiris in the north and other places, so as to divert attention from the issue at hand? |
~Bluetooth:lwkmd. Lord have mercy. smh. I will let someone else answer you jare. You are too funny. ![]() |

So piracy boost gaming numbers?
