From Naptu's post yesterday, which i have quoted below, it is very likely those deported were destitutes who refused to learn a skill but want to remain as beggars, although none of those deported will ever accept that is the case when questioned, one even claim to own a shop, which i am almost certain is a lie 3) Beggars, street traders, destitutes, area boys, psychotics, etc are arrested by the Task Force on Environmental Offences.
4) They are given a choice: (a) go to prison (b) go to rehabilitation centre (c) return to your state of origin.
A) The law stipulates punishment for those who commit these offences. They include prison term, fine, forfeiture of goods.
B) Rehabilitation centres were set up (the most famous/infamous was at Ita-Oko Island). At the centres the inmates are sorted. They are tested for drugs. Those who are drug addicts are detoxified. Those who have mental illnesses are sent to the asylum. The inmates (apart from the lunatics) are then taught skills (skills acquisition centre) so that they'll be able to earn a living. When they complete the course, they are given a loan with which they will start a business and made to sign an undertaking that they will not return to the streets.
C) Return: Those who choose to return are transported to their state of origin. The state government is usually informed ahead of time (although I know of 3 instances in which their state governments claimed that they were not informed) so that they can make arrangements to cater for the people. Most of the people who have chosen to return are from the northern part of the country (note: they chose to return). |

P.Stacks: You shouldn't talk like that.. Population is not a curse Population is a Blessing.
In China, Population is strength. Strength to power industries, strenght to power growth.. That is why Nigeria can run to china today to take a loan, because china has used her manpower to have much external reserves such that its enough and they can even lend out, with our crude oil in Nigeria and manpower we still borrow to finance capital projects, our Reserves are dwindling everyday.. Come on men! Population is strength.. You are not getting her point, the problem is not mainly population, the problem is the poor households giving birth to more than enough mouth they can take care of. Talking about population, it can alo be a curse if the rate of growth of development, industrialisation is not commensurate with the population growth. The china example you pointed out already have a one-child policy for a family, did you ever ask yourself why they've done that. We are in a nation where social security is absent, it is important households especially poor ones give birth to few offsprings they can relatively take care of, it is self destruction and selfishness to give birth to what you cant adequately take care of, and burying your head in sand like an ostrich claiming "God will take care of them", attitude like this by selfish parents brings up child hawkers e.t.c |

Aregbeshola has succeded in Hanging Yerima without exchanging words with him or meeting him one on one..
Nao my point is..
Is Aregbeshola not a Devout Muslim with Beards on his Goatee same as Yerima?
Is Islam not Islam? Is Aregebshola's Islam different from Yerima's Islam.. I want to know.. I need someone to enlighten me..
Is there and Islam for Yerima and the North and another Islam for Aregbeshola and the South. Oh guuush!
Is christainity not Christainity? Catholic Anglican Orthodox Methodist Adventist Jehovah witness Eccanka Protestants
Nao the pope can forgive sins on Twitter Christains would still come and argue the pope is a human being and doesn't hav the right to forgive sins, not to talk of i-Forgive abi E-forgive.
We would use Islam and chritainity to confuse ourselve and finish ourselves..
Muslims would fight amongst Muslim (in house fight) intra-faith fight and Christains would fight within christains and the most deadly of all Christains fighting Muslim (inter-faith)..
Guush.. Religion is a Menace! Religion is a Tool for Segregation. Religion is a Tool for Chaos. Religion is a Tool for Anarchy. Religion is a weapon of Mass Destruction.
If Muslims can't even agree what is what within themselves
If Christains can even agree what is what within themselves
How do you ever expect Muslims and chritains to agree on anything ever?
Humanity is plunging in the Name of Religion and we all have a First class ticket to Collapse being very Religious people..
This is what Abraham Lincoln said about America and I make bold to say thesame of Nigeria.
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” ― Abraham Lincoln
Nigerians would destroy Nigeria and nobody would destroy Nigeria from the outside..
Religion is Number root of Destruction..
Even Christain Association of Nigeria CAN doesn't hav One Voice, Muslims don't have one voice, How can People of Nigeria (Muslims + Christains) hav One Voice..
We have plenty segregated small small voice everywhere and Nobody is really talking..
Until we Talk with One Voice, No ones voice is ever gon be heard.
Religion is the Evil we talk about but u know what? We all Embrace it.
You are guilty of Religion I am guilty of Religion Everybody is guilty of religion
Until we Abolish Religion I will keep enjoying the In-fighting between Muslim such as Aregbeshola and Yerima or between Christain like those other chritain nairalanders that comes to fight Catholics on why Mary mother of Jesus has no say whatsoever and I see plenty catholics get infuriated..
I swear I enjoy watching those fights on nairaland..
We would use Religion to Offend ourselves and kill ourselves, Av lived in the North, an Average Illitrate Hausa man takes Islam like his everything, av seen passionate Christains and I see lovely people that can live together but are apart because of religion..
Anoda reason why religion is dangerous is this, an average illitrate Hausa Man with diluted Islam is catastrohic, av seen where a Mai-guard goes into his Masters house, throws the three kids into the Well and beheads his master and the wife During Religious crisis in Kaduna, av seen where Churches were burnt, av seen where mosques where burnt... This is a Muslim mai-guard that the christain boss buys sallaha ram and cloths for the childrren during sallah ooo, but during a crisis, because of Islam and Xtainity I stoop so low to take anoda man's life..
Guuusssh! Religion is disgusting both Islam and Christainity..
If Religion doesn't bring us to our knees, nothing else will.
In my Opinion Racism is better than Religion yet the world is tackling Racism and Religion flourishes everyday..
What is Racism? A divide for white and Black. What is Religion? A divide for Muslims nd xtain.
Why Tackle Racism and watch Religion flourish by the day...
Somebody must hav told a lie somewhere.. Somebody must have pitched Humanity against itself. Somebody must have programmed a Crash-Course for Humanity on the Wings of Religion..
To think of it That islam and xtainity is not Native to Nigeria Culture but Imported even kills me..
Islam and Christainity are not Original to Nigeria.. We imported them...
How come something we imported or allowed gain entrance into our country by missionaries and Islamic scholars is killing us more that Malaria and HIV/AIDS.. Religion has taken more lives than Cancer, HIV and Malaria put 2geda..
Humanity would fight itself for a Truth it would never Know..
Until we think of what to do with Religion, Let's enjoy killing ourselves for Religion..
Christains would die Muslims would die..
People hav died. (Muslims + Christains = People)
Until we emancipate ourselves from mental slavery, only us can free ourselves by ourselves.
Until what we know is not what they tell us there is no Redemption anywhere..
Whatever we know about Islam and xtainity today is only what they have Told us.. Until what we know is more than what they told us, we would only act on what we know that was told to us....
We can Abolish Religion. Yes we can.. Your long epistle lacks common sense. If i follow your logic,it goes like this "Husband and Wife disagrees, then lets cancel marriage" |

Sincere 9gerian: For the last time, I would rather believe a PREMIUM TIMES (known critic of the govt) reporter who may have done some research and who's write up passed thru an editorial board, than an unknown, hateful anonymous internet rat.
For the purpose of analysis, the link you provided claim the distance by ROAD from Lagos to Kano is about 1000km. How can the distance from Lagos to Kano by ROAD be 1000km when the distance of the RAIL TRACKS from Lagos to Kano is 1126km? Shouldn't the road distance be farther than rail tracks? http://www.railjournal.com/index.php/africa/nigeria-backs-rail-to-boost-economic-growth.html
Assuming the distance is even correct, the arithmetic with which you arrived at 12hrs or 15hrs is very simplistic. If we do the same arithmetic for the trains travelling at about 45km per hour (maximum speed of the narrow guage railway is about 64km per hour) and for a distance of 1126km the train will arrive its destination in 25hrs. If we add the same extra 3hours for stoppages, it gives 28hrs. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-21364541
Notwithstanding these simplistic calculations, I still stand by the Premium Times duration of 25 to 28hrs by road and 33hrs by train because it is based on INVESTIGATION Will you shut up if i tell you i have travelled this route before, back in 2008,i was on this route, i spent roughly 15-16 hours. The link i quoted claim 13hours plus. http://www.distancesfrom.com/ng/distance-from-lagos-to-Awka-via-Kano/DistanceHistory/4398124.aspxCommon sense should tell you the rail tracks are not exactly laid on the same road that traverses Lagos-Kano, and there would be variations in distance, as attempts will be made for the train tracks to link certain cities. A straight line is the shortest distance between two points. Call me whatever name, i will strive to enlighten you,if you will open your mind. BTW, who told you those old locomotive can speed as much as 45km/hr? In the cheap seats, of course, the ride is anything but easy. On a recent journey, the train fell short of its promised average speed of between 28-31 mph, instead reaching Kano six and a half hours late. http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/africa/nigeria/130424/nigeria-economy-security-boko-haram-railway-lagos-kano-train FYI, A mile is roughly 1.6km. 28mph is roughly 44kmph. Meanwhile, notwithstanding the complaints of poor services on the trains, they'r still CONGESTED. CONGESTED with human beings, with flesh and blood. In fact, the Nigeria Railways has been battling to ease the problem of congestion through increased frequency of trips and other measures. Sincere 9gerian: There are now 3 options for those willing to travel from Lagos to Kano: air, road or RAIL. Air transport is out of the reach of most Nigerians so the COMPETITION really is between road and rail transport.
Now lets compare road and rail transport:
A bus journey from Lagos to Kano costs roughly N5,000. And it lasts about 25 – 28 hours (Average from Premium Times) https://www.nairaland.com/1335980/premium-times-train-trip-kano
But if the same journey is done by train, it costs N1,900 (second class) and it lasts 30 to 33hours.
Now lets bring in the safety factor. Obviously, it is far far safer to travel by rail than by road.
So, if you were to choose between rail and road, which would you choose? I would go for rail any day, any time. The choice is yours Dont peddle lies especially in figures to support mediocrity, a bus journey of Lagos -Kano will not last 25-28 hours ------(Fact 1)On the issue of safety, it is relative, as safety and security are siamese twins, there is no guarantee passengers can not be robbed , sitting as a passenger in those slow moving train for 35 hours will come with health issues better imagined than witnessed. You know in your heart of heart you can never make a choice of travelling in that train from Lagos -Kano for 35 hours, abi u want to suffer miscarriage ni ? |

Sincere 9gerian: Stop comparing apples with oranges. We'r talking about dictatorial IMPOSITION here. Is Tinubu's wife in anyway better than the seasoned politician/technocrat she displaced? Could any of Tinubu's relatives who are currently holding prime political positions had won if the contest was fair? That is the DIFFERENCE. While the examples you gave got to their positions on individual merit, albeit with the help of family pedigre, Tinubu's relatives are IMPOSED on the people. If at all there was imposition, it was on ACN partymembers, to the best of my knowledge, the "imposed" fellows took part in general elections, and the electorates voted for them. I will keep saying it party primaries in this country is overrated, it does not necessarily bring up the best candidate, and the way it is conducted by most parties is shambolic, Shehu musa Yaradua was imposed on the PDP party members in 2006, as several fore runners were arm twisted to step down, GEJ in 2011 emerged because he won the battle of the "ghana must go", delegates were holed up in their hotels in abuja and paid handsomely in US dollars, and several other back hand deals. You talk about individual merit when i talk about Bush and clinton family and several other families because it suits your jaundiced view. I am asking you to explain the individual merit that made George bush(snr) sons become Governors and George bush (jnr) became president 8 years after , or the individual merit in how Hilary clinton a first lady became a senator, later secretary of state . |
Politics › Re: Buhari Disowns Yinka Odumakin - His Spokesman by emiye(m): 8:35pm On Jul 19, 2013 |
Sincere 9gerian: @Gbawe.,tried to play smart on this thread by reducing all of Odumakins statements to simplistic comparison of the cost of constructing per km of road. We all know that several factors determine the cost of road construction and these factors vary from one geographical location to another. Even in the same state, the cost may vary from place to place. Factors such as soil structure, number of lanes, design of the road, number of bridges, drainages type and size, pedestran walk ways, etc all eventually add up to the final cost of the road. Most of these factors, vary from place to place, even in the same state.
The East-west road for instance is about over 338km dual carriage road, with about 37 bridges and is being constructed at the cost of about N360 billion (variation that has taken due to delayed completion since 2006 when the project was initiated at the cost N200billion). http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/east-west-road-to-cost-n360bn/116824/
It will be deceitful and pure mischief to now compare the East-west road (with 37 bridges and topography in the swamps of the Niger Delta) per km cost of construction with inner city roads in places like Enugu or Abeokuta.
However @Gbawe and co try to spin this one, it cannot fly. The message of Odumakin, which cannot be lost, is that massive corruption is taking place in ACN controlled states.
Even more damaging is the fact that Tinubu's contracting firm is the one getting most of the road contracts in the Southwest. Has anyone imagined GEJ setting up his own contracting firm and ensuring the company gets major jobs in the country? Clearly, in such setting TRANSPARENCY and ACCOUNTABILITY will be thrown out from the window.
What about Tinubu's IMMORAL imposition of his close relatives in prime political positions in the southwest?
Tinubu is a hard-sell any day, anytime. No amount of spins by Gbawe and co can remove the THIEF appendage to Thief-Tinubu
Note: this does not exonerate PDP controlled states of corruption. But the DIFFERENCE is that in ACN controlled states, the corruption level is times two, ie the resources of the states most cater for the corrupt tendencies of state chief executives (governors) AND the godfather (Tinubu). But in PDP controlled states, we have to contend with only the corrupt tendencies of state chief executives (governors) I think you are the one doing the spin, you are saying the same thing he said about what influences cost variation. Which Tinubu's contracting firm is getting the road contracts ? >>> any fact to back this up ?While i am not too much of a fan of some Tinubu's family members placed in elective posts, things like this tends to happen all over the world. The bush family and clinton family in the USA is a very good example of this. In fact Father and son became president of the country in a space of 12 years, there was a time 2 of George bush(snr) sons were governors of two different states at the same season. Emotions cloud logical reasoning |

Goddex, dont think, search for facts and figures, it is always on public space. http://www.nigerianbestforum.com/blog/east-west-road-of-promises-without-end/
THE Federal Government in 2006 awarded contracts for the construction of the 337-kilometre East-West Road. The job, worth N211 billion, according to the original agreement, is supposed to be completed by August 2010. Emotions can be deceptive , facts and figures will correct that self anomaly. |
